CW fast-tracking development on a new series (Danni Lowinski) for midseason

Oct 6, 2010

Deadline reports the CW has fast-tracked development on Danni Lowinski to premiere it this midseason if they choose to pick it up. It could replace a CW show with only a 13 episode order ( Nikita, Life Unexpected , Hellcats and One Tree Hill) though the latter two have additional scripts ordered and are expected to be picked-up, Nikita also has a good chance of being picked up if it stops falling, Life is not expected to life long though.

Danni Lowinski is named after the series' central character: a scrappy hairdresser who has worked her way through law school and finally graduates only to be brushed off by law firms that aren't interested in her type. Determined to make her way in the professional world, she sets up her own practice in a shopping mall kiosk.

HMS appears dead as it's cast members' options expired and one cast member moved on to Law and Order LA.

  1. Don't know if it's a good thing or not - have to see it first. But I definitely love Danni :)

  2. Life Unexpected is an amazing showl; insightful, heartwarming and interesting. Most people I have spoken to say they never heard of it. It needs more advertising and promotion. With all the reality crap on tv, its a sad state of affairs that this bright and touching show is overlooked. CW move it to a better time slot and promote it.

  3. The CW can't afford to promote it or anything else. The whole shoestring advertising budget went to keeping VD front and foremost (with its threesome, bed writhing ad) and hooking viewers on Nikita and Hellcats. The remaining side slice paid for the annoying 90210 girl who WILL NOT take a hint. (I am NEVER watching your show no matter how many times you screech its time slot during Supernatural.) For all other shows, it's crayons and poster board time.

  4. This description sounds really boring. But I only watch Nikita, so as long as that stays on the air...

  5. I agree with you on both points. I really enjoy LUX and believe that OTH has overstayed its welcome, but the ratings don't lie and Life Unexpected is dead last for scripted shows on the CW. The whole thing makes me a sad panda.

  6. Just cancel OTH already!! The other 3 shows are awesome and I willl be pissed if they dont come back

  7. For all of you worried this fast-tracked, midseason show will replace Nikita or Hellcats don't bother worrying. This show is much more likely to replace OTH or LUX. (probably LUX)

  8. "Teens getting drunk and having sex". Yeah you pretty much summed up what I was thinking, I cannothonestly say I have watched Life Unexpected but I'll take your word on it that it is different. The CW at least tried something new with Nikita. I'm actually enjoying that show. Danni Lowinski sounds to me just like HellCats.

  9. Haha, we can hope it becomes more respectable. I think The WB probably fought for Smallville and Supernatural to transfer over to The CW, they were both getting pretty good ratings and still get better than half of the other CW shows. I'll disagree with one thing though Spnspoiler, Life Unexpected is a bit different; it's a little more feel-good type family drama rather than teens getting drunk and having sex (although a couple of the story lines this season seem like The CW have tried to add a bit more ... CWesque story lines.)

  10. It's not just you.
But I would like to point out that this new series sounds a bit more adult-aimed than the Hellcats, GG, and 90210...maybe these new shows are going to shift the storylines up a bit in the next year or so? Maybe, eventually the CW could be semi-respectable in that way? (Probably not, but maybe...)

  11. Get on it! :) I'm in Australia too, but I haven't watched television on television for a while now

  12. Sometimes I wonder how Samllville and Supernatural made it onto the CW. Is it just me or do all of their shows, besides the two I mentioned, all sound the same but just with a few different plots points here and there?

  13. I wish more people would catch on to Life UneXpected. Its such a gem of a show, and this season they have Emma Caufield. Yay! Love her.

  14. OMG America covers a german TV-Show???? I never expected to live to see that one happening xD

  15. I'm not sure how I feel about this. All four shows it could replace are ones that I either like or look like I would like and the description of Danni Lowinski just doesn't really interest me.

  16. I kinda like Hellcats. I like One Tree Hill as well but you're right, it has gone too long. I won't be as disappointed if it's cancelled as I would be if something like Life Unexpected were. Haven't gotten around to watching Nikita yet (I'm waiting for it to air in Australia) but it looks pretty good.

  17. Doesn't mean Nikita won't get a backorder, they're still enough time.

  18. I'm really looking forward to this. I LOVE THE ORIGINAL!

  19. If this show replaces anything, it's gonna replace Life unexpected but I doubt it. I think they're gonna launch it as their new midseason show because so far they have nothing.

  20. Maybe they just need it as a midseason show. So far they have nothing.

  21. Hellcats is super boring, and I think One Tree Hill has had its run and should probably end. It's ridiculous that both of those shows have had an additional order but Nikita hasn't. Besides the supernatural shows and Gossip Girl, its the only one that I have any modicum of interest in.

  22. If Hellcats gets a full season and Nikita doesn't there will be hell to pay '-)

  23. They better not replace Nikita. It's my new favorite show.

  24. I hope not! Lux is awesome...OTH needs to go already
