Chuck - Close to a full season pickup?
18 Oct 2010
Cancelled ShowsAnd now for some Chucking unbelievable news: Chuck is on the verge of receiving a full-season pickup from NBC, sources confirm to me exclusively. Although a Peacock rep declined to comment, insiders tell me the network and Warner Bros. Television are ironing out the final details of the back-nine order as we speak.
Earlier this month, Chuck cocreator Josh Schwartz expressed cautious optimism about his little-show-that-could surviving past its initial order of 13 episodes. “NBC is really happy with it creatively,” he said. “This is Chuck. We never say die.”
Currently in its fourth season, Chuck has become a steady performer for NBC on Mondays at 8 pm. And in this climate, steady is the new up!
Let the celebration begin in the comments section! BTW, Chuck is all new tonight!

=D!!
ReplyDeleteYay! Such good news. Gotta love the Chuckster...
ReplyDeleteCHUCK!!!
ReplyDeleteIt would make me so happy if this happens. It's the only show on NBC, I think, that has been steady this year with little to no promotion from NBC. While other have dropped in ratings such as The Event.
GO CHUCK!
Cool, nice one. Let us know if you hear anymore so we can post on the site.
ReplyDeleteoh my god oh my god oh my god PLEASE NBC let it be true! =D

ReplyDeleteI got the scoop first, but decided to announce that scoop to my Chuck vs the Google Group. I asked Jeff Zucker himself if Chuck will get a back nine order, and he said yes, without blinking his eyes.
Here are the ratings for the first 4 episodes : 5.79 - 5.37 - 5.38 - 5.33 millions viewers. It's not much but it's stable and that's what probably matters to NBC. However, I hope they'll pick up The Event for a full season too, despite of its ratings which are on a slippery slope (but still above Chuck nonetheless). If they also pick up Community for a full season of 22 (hell, 25) episodes, it would be awesome too.
ReplyDeleteProbably waiting to see how it performs tonight against Chase and The Event. If I were a betting man, and I'm not, I'd say Chuck 1.9; The Event 2.1, Chase 1.4.
ReplyDeleteOkay, now I'm convinced. NBC being a horribly inconsistent and low-rated network is THE best thing that could of happened to this show. Chuck would of never survived anywhere else but this struggling network. Say what you want about NBC but the failures of this network have been a godsend to Chuck and its very loyal fans.
ReplyDeleteUhm...why is everyone so surprised? Due to NBC's lack of ability to keep ratings, Chuck has gone from certain cancellation to certain full season pickup because it's one of the 2-3 shows that actually stays around its usual ratings. (Unlike The Event, unlike Chase, etc.--even though NBC is so mediocre in ratings lately, they will ultimately be picked up too, I'm sure)
ReplyDeleteOr like it's 2009 or just five/six months ago :D
ReplyDeleteGreat news! Let's party till it's 1999! ;-)
ReplyDeleteha yeah man could you specify? You asked the NBC president and he said yes? wtf
