And we have our third semi-finalist, as Clark Kent saw off Olivia Dunham fairly comfortably, as he gradually increased his lead throughout the day, with any attempts by the 'Fringe' character, quickly reversed by the Man of Steel. Smallville therefore is the third show to reach the Semi-Finals, with The X-Files and LOST. Firefly will be the fourth, but the questions is which character will be representing the short-lived but hugely popular space-opera. Will it be Malcolm Reynolds, or will it be River Tam. It will be close, very close, split decisions amongst the Firefly fans.
I don't know who is going to win. About time we found out...
By the way, to make sure we get the most amount of votes etc, the Semi-Finals will be on Monday & Tuesday next week, the Final on Wednesday. There will be none on Saturday & Sunday :)

ReplyDeleteI like Firefly and I like those two characters but it's bugging me that Jack Bauer, Spike and Dexter Morgan lost against them, it just feels wrong. Anyway I voted for River.

ReplyDeleteRiver Tam is truly only an enjoyable and fully fleshed out, dynamic chracter if you count Serenity the movie as part of the Firefly TV series which it is not. Mal was the best on that show by far. NO CONTEST.

ReplyDeleteThat's just the way votes are tallied when a character has 7 000 + votes.
ReplyDelete70 to 80 % of the votes are tallied in the first 12 hours of the poll then the votes decline because people have alreday voted once.
If someone had find a way to cheat, there is no reason they should run out of votes after a few hours, it should continue the same way all day long.
At least that is what i have observed so far.

ReplyDeleteI'm not quite sure how accurate these results are, because on some level I'm not sure if people are voting for River Tam or Cameron the terminator. In fact, you use pictures from both of the characters. Then of course, there are those who are voting simply because of Summer herself. So...

But it is the same for all characters in this tournament and Nathan Fillion can count on Castle fans.

That's kind of true, but my actual favorite scenes with her were in the show. "No power in the 'verse can stop me" and her "visions" or whatnot from the last episode, with all the leaves in the ship.

ReplyDeleteHe and Jayne were dressed as pioneers in a covered wagon to draw out some bandits. When the bandits attacked, he used the line. The whole scene was actually pretty funny. Jayne is the snarky one-liner guy on the show but Mal gets thrown some fabulous ones too.

ReplyDeleteI cannot help but laugh about this vote. Malcolm doesn't stand a chance and it is not at all because of his acting ability(which is wonderful). I imagine that there are proportionally a lot more males voting than females. I'm sure that sense that is the case, River will win by a landslide. Unfortunately this talented actress is just being seen as a a 'hottie' by many.

ReplyDeleteAt this stage, River Tam is the winner of the female side of the tournament, and maybe greater honors are awaiting her.
I'm a male, voted for River and think she's attractive but it wasn't my only reason. I think both of them are great actors (although that doesn't really matter much because it's a character comp). The character of River just had that little bit more than Mal did. Maybe it was the mystery behind her and the potential for the character to grow.

ReplyDeleteFirst I believed that this poll was going to be more closed and besides was going to have more votes that one of most voted polls until now, considering that both characters are the only ones that showed more individual support from the beginning of the competition (because the others were obtaining it later)

If I was you, I not be so sure about that because Mulder in last poll have more votes that River in this poll, so I would not predict a "humiliation", besides not only Smallville, Lost and X-Files fans are going to vote...SPN fans too because not all, but lot of SPN fans are X-Files fans too jajaja four show's with a strong fan base :)

ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestions, but I think this is a character competition, not an actress/actor competition so I start to watch Firefly for this competition and sorry for all the fans but I can't believe that I finish the show just for have my own opinion,but is the worst sci-fi show I ever watch (I don't said this in bad sense, it's just an opinion) and that's why, even if Sumer or Nathan are goods actors, I can't vote for one of them because both characters in Firefly for me are bad....:)

You forget one thing Andrea, those who voted for River or for Mal are the same for the most part; the votes they obtained in previous competition had to be splited between the two characters but not added.

But X-Files fans had so much more to pull from that the movies are an afterthought. For River Tam, the movie is pretty much her whole character.
