(I'll be away for the next couple of days, so back with the competition on Monday! Have a good weekend)
3 days into the third round and the Quarter Finals are looking juicy. Fox Mulder, Benjamin Linus & Jack Shephard making three of the top half's four characters, and that is some tough competition. Jack was given one hell of a run for his money, retaking his early lead in the latter stages of the competition, and knocking Kate out of the competition. As a LOST fan, I feel some votes may have come tactically from other show fans, but in my opinion, the right man is through, and he has to face one of these two in the next round.
Those two are Seeley Booth, one half of the 'Bones' team who has already eliminated The Doctor from the tournament, and vastly outshone the success of the show in the other competition. Can he take on and beat 'The Vampire Diaries' hords of fans, and their remaining character Elena Gilbert, who started the Supernatural demise in Round 2. It will be tough, but crazier things have happened...and I'm sure will happen before the tournament is through. :P

In advance, the voting window is 24 hours, and I have set closing times for the poll, but if they do not work, or they aren't set at any point in the competition, the poll will close when I check the votes myself. This is not at all due to cheating, it's due to the fact that I will be busy and so please let's avoid the torrent of abuse that the infamous Smallville vs. The Vampire Diaries produced :P
Have fun guys, and any questions as always email me on:

I'm not sure mind-wiping your brother and then getting in a snit when he is upset about it qualifies as an example of family devotion. Her ego makes her think she knows what is best for every other character and yet she cannot run her own life. She is not only boring but extremely aggravating.
ReplyDeleteI have seen every episode of Bones except the new one and all of season 1 of The Vampire Diaries. I think Bones is by far the better character. In fact, I would say that Elena is one of the weakest characters in this whole contest. Booth is a hero, dedicated to saving lives and working with others to make life better. Elena, in my opinion, is a passive-aggressive, ungrateful, indecisive twit who ruins the entire show for me. I can think of a dozen characters from The Vampire Diaries that are better than her. Her relationship with Stephan only makes her more brain-dead as she goes on and no I am not a fan of Damon and Elena getting together. She constantly ignores reason to do whatever she wants and then thinks she is capable of making decisions for all the other characters. She comes off as a sweet girl but in reality she and Stephan do nothing but put down others or think they are better than others when they don't agree with them. I happen to love Booth. He is one of my favorite characters, but even if Elena were going against a character that I did not like, I would still vote against her because she sucks the fun out of every minute she is on the screen. (Not to say that this is the actress' fault because Katherine is better in the limited time I saw her.)
ReplyDeleteHow long has the poll been open to have Elena beating Booth by over 3000 votes?
ReplyDeleteI voted Booth. I've only seen one episode of TVD, and Elena made me want to smack her in the face half a dozen times. But I've been watching Bones now (officially) for six years, and to me, Booth is a much more endearing character (and this is despite the irrational hatred I have for his actor, David Boreanaz). Booth is an honorable man who's always trying to do the right thing, no matter that it constantly puts him at odds with the people he loves (Brennan, the squints, his own brother, his grandfather). And yeah, the show gets a little soap-opera-y at times (the entire ending to the season 3 and 4 storyline, i.e.) but Booth's character isn't defined by any of that. It's defined in the devotion that he has to his partner, to her friends, to his own son, to his ex girlfriends, to his job, the way he will constantly put his own life in jeopardy in order to uphold that devotion, because he knows that it's the right thing to do, no matter what the consequences are for himself in the end. He's a model person, and he deserves to win more than Elena does.
The episode I watched was the season 2 premiere. That's the only episode I've watched. It has nothing to do with writing her off. She can be as annoying a character as she wants to be, or as fantastic as she wants to be -- I have absolutely nothing against Nina Dobrev as her actress, either. I actually would have enjoyed the show, and I did enjoy her turn as Katherine, though I didn't understand a single thing happening. But plenty of people can't stand Sookie Stackhouse/Anna Paquin, either, and I don't see True Blood's viewership going down the toilet.
ReplyDeleteWhat I said was that Booth is a more endearing character to me, and that I think he deserves to win. That's me, personally. If you like The Vampire Diaries, you like it. More power to you. But as Booth is a war hero, and not a teenage girl caught between the affections of two vampire brothers, one of whom is a bit more evil than the other, to me, Booth wins out.
Apparently from the amount of votes, no one else agrees.
Booth. Booth all the way! I kow he'll lose... badly. But I still love him best <3 Hey, making it to round 3 is good...
ReplyDeleteDoes the competition still goes on?
ReplyDeleteDon't watch Bones but I watch TVD. Don't care too for Elena much. She wines and changes her mind too much. Katherine would have been cool. Vote goes toward Elena...
ReplyDeleteElena.
ReplyDeleteShe & Katherine are my favorite female characters as of now & since my beloved Dean Winchester lost, my votes go to her.
To be fair, although TVD did cash in on the Vampire craze, it has turned into a reasonably good show and not half as "teeny" as I thought it would be.
ReplyDeleteThe way you describe Booth is actually the way I'd describe Elena, even though I'm not a fan of her character. She is devoted to her family and the people around her and she does always try to do the right thing. It's just a shame she's so completely and utterly boring. However, I can't blame the actress at all because she plays her Vampier "alter-ego" very well, so I either blame the author of the books or the writers of the TV show. Whichever made her so boring first.
ReplyDeleteI dislike Elena (only watch TVD for Damon) and Booth is awesome on "Bones" so he has my vote, without any doubt.
ReplyDeleteBut in a contest like this, Elena's gonna ride the vamp mania love wave that TVD has - and crush Booth, as much of a shame as that is.
Definitely Booth
ReplyDeleteI'm a dedicated viewer of both Bones and The Vampire Diaries (my two favourite shows on TV atm), and I voted Elena. I would recommend giving Vampire Diaries another go, it gets so much better from its earlier episodes - plot and character wise. It seems a little silly to write off Elena if you have only seen one episode - at least, it definitely makes you unqualified to definitively say that Booth is better than Elena. I agree that Booth is a great character, but so is she.
ReplyDeleteI´m totally hooked on The Vampire Diaries; Elena is not my favorite character from that show but i like the tension between her and Damon!
ReplyDeleteJe vois qu'il y a des Tweets en faveur de Elena :)
ReplyDeleteBonjour à tous les fans francophones de The Vampire Diaries et montrons a tous que nous soutenons a fonds Elena.
Votez pour Elena!
I was never really a huge fan of Nina Dobrev, and even less Elena, until this season! Catherine changed my mind completely.
ReplyDeleteVote for Elena and spread the word!
Elena V Booth... No contest for me... Elena! :)
ReplyDeleteThey're both just meh to me, especially compared to the other three already in the next round. I voted for Elena because we need a gal up in here. :P
ReplyDeleteI can't say I really care for either character. I watch The Vampire Diaries but don't watch Bones.
ReplyDeleteBut I dislike Elena (should've had Katherine up there... at least she's interesting).
Ha lol
ReplyDeleteBrackets have been updated
ReplyDeletehahahaha. Whoops. I attached the Jack, Kate Poll.
ReplyDeleteWill be fixed momentarily, and I will be voting Booth, as I thought he wasn't bad in the couple of episodes I've seen :)
There's still the old poll with Jack and Kate...
ReplyDeleteThis has been a very uneventful stage.
ReplyDeleteBut everyone is like that to a certain degree. Can we mind-wipe people? No. But do we wish we could sometimes, to make them forget? Of course. Do we lie to people and tell ourselves it's to protect them? Sure. Why? Because our egos make us think we know best.
ReplyDeleteSo really you like Nina Dobrev (the actress) for Katherine not Elena, who is the character in the running.
ReplyDeleteBooth
