The Semi-Finals are decided, 4 characters remain, from four shows.

Monday 28th: Fox Mulder (The X-Files) vs. Jack Shephard (LOST)

Tuesday 29th: Clark Kent (Smallville) vs. River Tam (Firefly)
Vs.
Wednesday 30th: THE FINAL
Interesting stats for you, from the nomination phase.
Fox Mulder was the 31st most nominated character into the competiton.
Jack Shephard was the 4th most nominated character into the competition.
Clark Kent was the 45th most nominated character into the competition.
River Tam was the 64th most nominated character into the competition.
Quite entertaining to see how much some of the characters support has grown through the competition, River Tam was close to not making the cut, it was only when I realised that Tony DiNozzo and Anthony DiNozzo are the same character (I don't watch NCIS) that River got promoted into the competition as the next best character.
Also, 5 of the top 10 most nominated characters exited in Round 1!!
I can reveal now too, that Sawyer & Richard Alpert were the two LOST characters that were excluded as they exceeded the three male characters from the show.
So Tune in from Monday to Wednesday, as the Competition comes to a close!

ReplyDeleteI don't think River's been tested as much as the Fox or Jack.
ReplyDeleteShe's coasted against shows without the huge fanbase, apart from Malcolm, but it's the same fan base. She hasn't faced the strong test that X-files, LOST, Supernatural, Vampire Diaries can put up.

River Tam was pitted against characters who had often less than 2 000 votes that is true. I f she had won with 3 000 or 4 000 votes, your reasoning would be true.
ReplyDeleteBut she had between 6 500 and 8 500 votes each time, more than Jack or Clark ever had, and comparable to Mulder's number of votes.

ReplyDeleteBut! I feel that a lot of the unsure votes would swing against her against X-Files, LOST & Supernatural etc etc. It's just a guess, I may well be wrong. I feel she is more untested against big opposition like Jack & Fox are. Kent is the toughest test she will have had so far, so that will be a good judge for the overall winner :P

Completely off subject Adam, but we were discussing Faith and Route 666 in another thread here. Just wondering if you are still watching season 1 of Supernatural and what you were thinking if you are.
ReplyDeleteHey, I am still watching. I'm midway through Nightmare atm. Seems to have picked up over the last few episodes. Been v enjoyable, barring the truck in Route 666, which was a bit funny rather than scary :P

Glad to hear it. Route 666 had a laughable villain (racist truck), laughable acting (Cassie - Urgh!), and a laughable plot. Thanks goodness it had some good one-liners because the rest of it was pretty much worthless. Get through the weep fest in the middle of Shadows and you are in the home stretch. Hell House introduces the future Ghostfacers, Something Wicked has the flashbacks, and Provenance has the best PiP (Person in Peril) of season 1. Then it really picks up the mytharc pace.

Something Wicked is one of my favourite season 1 episodes just because of the flashbacks. I have always loved the tension inside the Dean-John relationship and what's better to explore this relationship than taking a peek on the beginnings of it? It's definitely a loveable episode and the monster is pretty scary too.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, I'm all for Fox. I hate Clark Kent, I'm only about 10 episodes in LOST (I know, I know, where have I been for the past six years lol) and I have never seen Firefly, but I don't think any of these characters could compare to Mulder, or Dean for that matter. I still think Dean is far more interesting and complex, but once I lost him, I'm going for Fox - not because he defeated Dean, but because he's simply awesome.

Jack Bauer should be able to beat Chuck Norris... and yet he was beaten by this female character from a series that only aired for 1 season. Granted, I've never seen it, and I hear it's amazing... but still... Jack Bauer?!
