Update: Some people are reporting issues with not being able to vote on the Embedded Poll below.
If you are having trouble, try using this link to the direct poll page.
So, after a three day break, we are back in action, hopefully right through to the final in a week or so. Before the break we saw Elena Gilbert lay down a real strong claim for her chances to win the competition, smashing Seeley Booth & Bones out of the tournament for 2010. Having disposed of Supernatural's Sam Winchester last round, she was expected to win, but with over 8,000 votes, she's going to be very tough for anyone to find a way past.
Against her is the fact she is in a tough half of the draw, Fox Mulder, Benjamin Linus & Jack Shephard.
For today's tie, we will definetely say goodbye to a Smallville Character, as there two remaining chances face each other for a place in the QF's. Those characters are Clark Kent & Lois Lane, and although Clark is a favourite at this stage, don't discount the support Lois found to beat Peter Bishop of Fringe in Round 2 & Dana Scully of The X-Files in Round 1. It's anyone's game, and nearly time to let the voting commence....
For Supernatural fans by the way, I've just watched episode 8, Hook Man, and the seires has impressed me so far :P
Also keep upto date with the competition and/or ask questions by following me on twitter. I'll also post some of my reviews, writing updates & other bits & bobs, more often than not TV and Film based. I'm at: http://twitter.com/AdDHarris
Don't forget to keep following your bracket if you entered the competition at http://www.dawgsled.com/darkufo/welcome.asp
All that's left to do folks, is vote....

This is not at all due to cheating, it's due to the fact that I will be busy and so please let's avoid the torrent of abuse that the infamous Smallville vs. The Vampire Diaries produced :P

You're a douche.
ReplyDeleteHmmm..... see I did say I'd never be able to choose, but I've got nothing better to do right now, so I'll have a go.
ReplyDeleteS1 Faith, but also Skin (love shifters they're so gross) and Scarecrow - oh and Devil's Trap
S2 In My Time of Dying, Hunted, Nightshifter (loved Ron Resnick and more shifter-shed) and What is And What Should Never Be
S3 Bad Day at Black Rock, Fresh Blood, Mystery Spot, Jus In Bello
S4 Lazarus Rising, In the Beginning, Wishful Thinking (Teddy Bear Doctors), On the Head of a Pin
S5 The End, Abandon All Hope, Point of No Return (that's where Zach bites it), Two Minutes to Midnight (aka Dean Dines with Death)
Not bad, I've narrowed it down to 4 episodes from each season. Couldn't possibly choose just one though, and I'll probably think of others that should be on the list - but that's it for now.
I agree Fresh Blood was the best vamp ep so far. Of course they weren't sparkly back then. Surely if they sparkle it'll be better? Wonder if Dean will sparkle when he gets turned?
ReplyDeletehaha you're killing me :P yeah, why not, let's talk about our favourite SPN episodes in a Smallville thread just to make it more lively :D gotta love SPN fans' enthusiasm ;)
ReplyDeletebut picking a favourite, even of a season, is almost impossible. I know for sure I do not have my absolute fave from the whole show, there are too many.
season 1: I think my fave is Devil's Trap, but also loved Phantom Traveler, Faith and Something Wicked
season 2: In My Time of Dying, Croatoan, What Is and What Should Never Be
season 3: Bad Day at Black Rock, Mystery Spot, Jus in Bello
season 4: Death Takes a Holiday, On the Head of a Pin, Lucifer Rising
season 5: Changing Channels, 99 Problems, Point of No Return
but I would shorten the list to In My Time of Dying, What Is and What Should Never Be, Bad Day at Black Rock, Mystery Spot and On the Head of a Pin if I had to. Choosing one of those is impossible :P
Blame the writers' strike. Because we had so few episodes the mytharc seemed rushed and it wasn't as satisfying at the end as it would have been if we had 22 episodes. To be honest, my least favorite episodes of that season were #13, 14, and 15. I think the end is why some fans did not like it as much.
ReplyDeleteFresh blood was the best vamp episode easily. Although I suppose we'll see about "LIve free or Twi Hard."
ReplyDeleteSince this has unofficially turned SPN-centric (hey, at least there will be a lot of comments compared to the last few rounds), what is everyone's favorite episode? My absolute favorite is What Is and What Should Never Be. I loved the alternate-verse, the djinn, and especially how it ended.
ReplyDeleteSeason 1 is a toss-up between Faith and Devil's Trap. Season 3 is really hard because I love Mystery Spot, Bad Day at Black Rock, and Jus in Bello, but I think it is A Very Supernatural Christmas for me. What can I say, I love the guest stars and the amulet. Season 4 is In the Beginning and Season 5 I have to think more about. Not Swan Song for sure, although I expect that is most people's favorite from season 5.
I know I did. Really, a racist truck? Who came up with that one! Plus the fact that it was supposed to be set in the Deep South until it started snowing in Vancouver. That's a sign guys! Even Mother Nature was against making this episode.
ReplyDeleteLMAO, I am just now scrolling down through these posts and have noticed how congested it is with SPN talk. :D This was after I posted my first post. But, since we seem to be in an SPN yap zone (woot!) I shall add to the chatter.
ReplyDeleteRead my post above too if you like.
Also, gosh I just loved "The Benders". Man that was good. And it just shows how flexible the show can be. Absolutely no paranormal activity at all, yet it still screamed supernatural. I could list more episodes that I loved, but then the list would be too long it would get ridiculous. SO many great episodes from every season. /sigh. Love em.
IS IT FREAKING FRIDAY YET?
What I remember most about Clark is his whining and pining over Lana Lang. That showed incredibly bad judgment to me. Lois is related to Chloe so she at least gets "cool kin" points.
ReplyDeleteThe truth is, season 3 has really a lot of great episodes, perhaps even more than other seasons (surely more than season 5), so I really don't get the complaining that the season was weak. Single episodes rocked, the only thing that lacked was a proper premier and finale - they were more like regular episodes, nothing spectacular, nothing unexpected.
ReplyDeleteInstead of complaining about it, how about you tell us what you like most about each of the characters or put in a plug for your show. It sounds like several people dropped Smallville after the first couple of years. What is it about the show that has kept your attention? For me, I stopped watching regularly after the second season because I could not stand Lana. After Lex left, I completely stopped. What is it about the show that you think should make me give it a second chance or get other people to give it a try?
ReplyDelete"For Supernatural fans by the way, I've just watched episode 8, Hook Man, and the seires has impressed me so far :P"
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Glad you're enjoying the show Adam. :) IMO it gets better with each season. But some enjoyed S1-2 better than S4-5, while just as much thought 4-5 was better. It will be interesting to get your thoughts on it.
Laters! :D
Hey, at least it won't be two characters from the same show facing off for the finals. My guess is that many people expected it to be a Jack vs. Locke showdown. Now that would be incredibly boring. I'm happy that shows have characters going against each other. It makes it a much wider range of shows to be represented later.
ReplyDeleteYes but the most votes Lois has ever received is 4,738 before this round. Clark has only managed 2,192 before today. Other characters have lost with greater numbers. I would say that Clark and Lois have been lucky to be in rounds with less voters so less competition.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Smallville fans can complain here. LOST fans had two rounds when it was their characters against each other. Plus, chances are that Firefly will have their 2 characters face off too.
ReplyDeletei feel the same way when thinking of a fave episode. I personally love every episode of the show and its so hard to think of which 1 is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteFor such a short season, season 3 does have some of the best episodes too. It ties with season 1 for me. I would add The Kids are Alright and Fresh Blood to the ones you mentioned. In fact, until the last 4 episodes, I liked every episode although Red Sky at Morning is pushing it.
ReplyDeleteFence post ! ha ha! Even the (many) young children who've acted on Supernatural have been far superior. Maybe she was having difficulty accepting the whole racist monster truck thing?
ReplyDeleteBoth Bugs and Route 666 are in season 1. Episodes 8 and 13 respectively. Bugs has a lot of bugs :-) and the worst ending by far of any episode in Supernatural. I believe it was universally panned as Insta-Morning. Route 666 was about a racist killer monster truck. Yep, you read that right. It's about as ludicrous as anything I've heard. Some of the writing is snappy but the plot was lame. It is also about Dean's long-lost girlfriend, which could have been interesting if the guest actress wasn't doing her best impression of a fence post. Supernatural usually has great acting, but that was the exception.
ReplyDeleteWe're talking about an opinion, which I'm allowed to have without it being questioned or ridiculed. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHa, of course :)
ReplyDeleteI sincerely hate Smallville and will never understand how on earth a show like this is able to air for ten years, but I voted for Lois, because I hate Clark even more than I do the show lol I mean, seriously, Dean Winchester got eliminated in this round and Clark Kent is supposed to go through it? give me a break. And Lois isn't that bad, after all, she surely has balls, Clark doesn't.
ReplyDeleteI don't really remember Bugs or Route 666, not sure if I've even seen it, cause seasons 1-3 I watched on TV and skipped to web only for seasons 4 and 5, so I could've just missed those. Are they really that bad? But anyway, I must tell you - everyone hating those episodes make me very curious about them, so I'll definitely watch them now :P
ReplyDeleteI liked Family Remains, I don't know why everyone is so against it. it was a nice change after the two-episode angel drama. And at least it was scary. I didn't mind the Benders either.
urgh how can clark be winning. He's not even a good character, all he does is whine and complain. He's super boring and STILL can't fly. He's a lame character in general. At least Lois is spunky and has some good lines. Clark's lines are bland... or maybe its the acting, sorry Tom.
ReplyDeleteOMG Asylum, Scarecrow, and Faith are so awesome. Best standalones of the whole series imo.
ReplyDelete"Two perfect halves...??"
ReplyDeleteWe're still talking about Smallville, right? XD
Jack Vs Kate.
ReplyDeleteBenjamin Vs Juliet.
'Nuff said.
No, no redraws ever if a free open draw, that's the way it works. And
ReplyDeleteremember BOTH Lois and Clark could have been knocked out. This way
you're guaranteed 1 of them through.
Well, that's the way the cookie crumbles :) The draw was totally random.
ReplyDeleteIt was bad luck then! Maybe next time you can redraw. I mean there can be exceptions to drawing twice and one should be when this type of situation happens this early in the game. JMO.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way. I'm voting for Lois Lane because she's my favorite character but I love Clark Kent and in any other circumstance I'd be voting for *him* without giving it a second thought. This seems really unfair. I could understand this happening at the final stage of the competition if both of them were the last characters standing, but we're in the third round right? Hardly seems fair to pit these characters against each other. It's like choosing between two perfect halves...
ReplyDeleteIt's the luck of the draw.
ReplyDeleteThink of this way... at least 1 Smallville Character is guaranteed to
go through to the next round.
Yeah, cos it's not like Jack and Kate had to slug it out. Nor is it like Benjamin and Juliet having to duel.
ReplyDeleteCry me a river.
THIS IF UNFAIR D=!!!!!!! WHY do both of smallville's characters have to fight and not lost's characters fight as well! Thats totally unfair that smallville fans have to lose one no matter what and pick between the two. I voted for clark and I know clark is gonna win. that is totally unfair
ReplyDeleteDefinitely going to get far more comments than if it was just Smallville. We are a chatty bunch with lots of opinions on our show.
ReplyDeleteI hated Family Remains too. It was like the Benders part 2 and I didn't even really need the Benders part 1. Those people were far creepier than Grandpa Creepy. Still, I agree that the worst episode of Supernatural in a season is usually better than most episodes of other shows.
ReplyDeleteRoute 666 was the second worst show of all. The only thing that saves it is that it has some zippy one-liners. The plot is by far the worst and the guest acting is terrible. I didn't want to mention it yet because I didn't want Adam to think that he was in for too many ugh episodes. For me, it's a good thing that Asylum, Scarecrow, and Faith separated Bugs, Home, and Route 666 or I might not be an avid viewer today.
ReplyDeletei didn't mind chris angel, i thought it was ok
ReplyDeleteroute 666 and bugs are probably the only ones i don't LOVE
and i'm with you, to list my faveourites would be to list practically every episode to avoid having to choose!
Also, pretty sure Lost has 2 comps this round where it's Lost vs Lost.
ReplyDeleteIt's just the luck of the draw.
ReplyDeleteI choose Lois Lane....this is weird why the competition is between Lois & Clark????
ReplyDeletewhile the other competition is not between two people on the same show...are you trying to eliminate the Smallville characters???
I Love Lois, and I finally like a female character on Smallville more than Chloe... but Clark is the man! I don't think my vote actually registered because I have read all of these posts... Posted about Supernatural and here and it is still spinning... Oh well, I will try to come back later and vote again. It will either register, or it won't. I hope Lois gets enough votes to make it a race, but I couldn't vote for her against Clark!
ReplyDeleteLOIS LANE!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteFor me it's Bugs, Route 666 and Criss Angel..... Just don't ask me my favorite episode - I'd be up all night and I still couldn't even come close to making a choice. Either that proves the overall excellence of the show, or that I'm too easily pleased. ;)
ReplyDeleteWell haven't you just started something - commenting on Supernatural in the Smallville poll? ;)
ReplyDeleteI've said it many times - Supernatural at its worst is still infinitely better than most rubbish on TV. Even the worst episodes usually have something to like, even if it's just the music, or more likely something humorous.
I really hope you continue to enjoy it.
gald your enjoying it, it is the greatest show in the world ever!!!
ReplyDeletekeep watching, it only gets better!
agreed on bugs, what about route 666, i thought that was really boring
ReplyDeletei disagree about season 4 being the best, i reckon season 1 and 2 are definately the best seasons!!
For the first time in the competition I just can't vote.
ReplyDeleteBoth characters and the show as a whole are absolutely awful in my opinion.
Wha... is it made of steel or something?
ReplyDeleteHate to be a jerk here but... the reason I don't watch Smallville is because it kept getting worse with each new season. It reminded me of Charmed. Very successful in terms of ratings but as of why remains one of the world's most confusing mysteries.
ReplyDeleteLois Lane joined Smallville in 2004, not 2001, so she also has a lot less episodes than Clark Kent.
ReplyDeleteVoted Lois. Simply to avenge and honour both Peter and Scully. RIP! <3
ReplyDeleteMine won't load either. The circle just spins. I'll try to vote again in the morning.
ReplyDeleteliterally!
ReplyDeleteHardest poll ever.
ReplyDeleteI'm having problems too. I chose Clark, hit Vote and then it just gets stuck loading.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural always seems to creep up on posts that have nothing to do with it. Love that!
ReplyDeleteSorry Lois, but Clark Kent has my vote! When it works, that is : )
ReplyDeleteActually I didn't vote because the poll isn't working for me. I can't even find the poll on polldaddy.
ReplyDeleteFor me, season three is where the season starts to shine and season four is just epic. While the first two seasons are great, the thing about Supernatural is that it really does keep getting better.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Clark. I heart Erica's Lois though, but the show is Clark's.
I haven't voted today, having not seen the show. :P
ReplyDeleteI can however comment on Supernatural for the hoards who dwell here. I thought Hook Man was a v.good episode (I'm 8 episodes in) In general they have been pretty good, need the father to show up again now though!
Opinions should always be questioned and/or ridiculed. And you're very welcome.
ReplyDeleteI never see SV...so I don't vote....the only character I still support in this competition is Mulder because all SPN character was eliminated...
ReplyDeleteJust curious...people are commenting about SPN epis in a SV poll??? jajajaja. For me the best season by the moment is season 3, since the first episode when we know that Dean can die until season finale with Dean's death it's epic, I didn't see that coming, you always wait that they resolve everything in last episode but when he die and the season ends I stay in shock for some minutes, the best season for me, with awesome epis like A very Supernatural christmas (I want a Christmas special this new season), Mystery Spot, Bad Day at Black rock, Jus in Bello, Bedtimes storys, No rest for the wicked...
i agree this is stupid who would want 2 characters from the same show face off?
ReplyDeleteOr both could have made it. Remember, they both won two major rounds quite easily. ;)
ReplyDeleteThose are some of my favorite episodes too. In fact, I have a hard time picking between Faith and Devil's Trap as my favorite episode of season 1. The role reversal alone makes Faith a classic episode. Scarecrow has the creepiest villain. I don't think "fugly" quite does it justice, and who can forget, "I hope your apple pie is freakin' worth it!" One of the best lines ever. Plus Auntie Sacrifice may be the biggest monster of all. Asylum has the powerful brother interaction, a great guest character, and even more great lines - "I had a crappy guidance counselor." No wonder I love this show.
ReplyDeleteI understand. I can still be upset about it, though, right? lol
ReplyDeleteI love Bugs, it is Family Remains in Season 4 that left me cold... That is the only episode that I don't prefer over over other TV Show... I think I would even watch Sex in the City over Family Remains... No, I wouldn't... Desperate Housewives... No.. 90210... Hell no! Ummmmm Well, let's just say it is my least favorite episode of Supernatural and I would watch lots of my favorite shows over that episode... For most of the other episodes, I would rather re-watch them for the 20th time than watch a new episode of anything else...
ReplyDeleteGlad you are liking Supernatural. I really liked season 1 although I agree with others that season 4 is better. Season 1 had some of the best stand alones and iconic American urban legends. Don't worry. John shows up again sporadically, especially toward the end of season one. Fair warning though, you are about to see the worst episode of Supernatural's history - BUGS. There are no words to do it justice. You may want to skip it because you won't miss anything. Even Kripke (show creator) apologized to the fans for Bugs. I wasn't a fan of Home either, but it's one you have to see for the mytharc, etc.
ReplyDeleteWait till you see Home and Nightmare.
ReplyDeleteThat's about where the show went from "oohh kinda cool" to "must watch television"
