I don't have time to get into now, cuz its 3:25am, and I'm freaking tired, but if U read the books, and actually breakdown every single, and I mean EVERY single detail of information, and be more open minded to the characters, and the history, then I'm sure u'd see our point of view....and just to be clear, it's not all about the looks!! It's a lot more about their characters, and their emotions, and all the things they've gone and will go thru. There's a lot of different forums, that u should read, and I GUARENTEE without a doubt, that u wont disagree with!! Maybe u should go to the vampire diaries official website, u'd see where we're all coming from. Or read the books!!
Mixing mediums is a no-no. The Damon from the books has to stand on his own just like the TV version of Damon. You can't defend a TV character by saying "read a book" just like you can't defend a literary character by saying "watch his TV counterpart."
Unless something happens, is mentioned, or referred to on the TV series, it's not a part of the on-screen character. You can only judge a TV character based on the events of his/her show and that's why reading the books would be inconsequential.
I never said the books were similiar we all know their not!! But if u wanna get literal, then yes!! Damon is exactly the way he is in the book! Personality wise. I wasn't defending him cuz I told you, I was tired!! I could defend Damon all day long. And u wanna sit there and say that he's all these bad things, when in fact! If u took the time to think about it, he actually isn't all that bad. In a lot of different ways he's a victim. Stefan being forced to turn him when he wanted to Die! Katherine betraying him for 145 yrs. His Father killing him!! Emily betraying him, not to mention Elena and Bonnie. Ok he kills people, but in fact he hasn't killed ne1 in a long time.(not that i'm saying he's off the hook) N as he tries to sit there and make it right, people spit in his face!! N if YOU were a vampire you'd be killing people to. Damon embraces who he is, he doesn't sit there and try to fight it like Stefan, which btw, Stefan wanted this life!! As far as Jeremy, yeah what he did to Jeremy was awful, but he SAW that ring!!! He wouldn't have did that if he didn't. Jeremy was in the wrong place at the wrong time!! Damon getting crushed by both of the women he cares about, in the same night saying the same exact thing, set him off, not to mention he was drunk!! And of course u would think he was bad cuz ur thinking from a humans POV!! Him being a vampire and doing what he did to Jeremy, to him, being what he is, he doesn't consider that that...was not that bad, especially since he came back to life!! And to be fair, Jeremy got what he asked for!! He wanted to be dead, so He was dead. What Damon did was Tough Love!! I mean surely u see it. Jeremy looks up to Damon, cuz he needs a strong male figure, some1 who can handle his bullshit, Damon is that guy. U see they have similarities, Jeremy doesn't wanna end up like his father, and neither did Damon. And believe it or not Damon does have a heart. If u wanna be on Alaric's side, then surely u remember him saying what he said..."Your a dick, and u kill people. but I still see someting Human in you." But I will agree with you, Stefan is boring, only cuz he chooses to be. He got what he asked for and he regrets it thats his problem. As far as Alaric getting with Elena, haha, that's not happening....at all!! I could go on and on, but 2nite's episode is coming up in a half hour, and I don't want u to take away my buzz. If u still don't understand, i'll be more than happy to explain more.
This is my own fault. I try to steer clear of this type of conversation about these types of shows. I should know better. I offered a simple, harmless counterpoint and this is what happens. There's only a few things I will bother to point out from your... um... post.
1. When your counterpoint includes "Ok he kills people, but in fact he hasn't killed ne1 in a long time", that's not really a point in your favor.
2. All of the bad things that happened to Damon (turned by Stefan and betrayed by Kat, killed by Dad, etc.) happened 145 years ago, like you mentioned. Vampires may not age but they can GROW and you can't blame your behavior on something that happened 1.5 centuries ago.
3. Stefan doesn't fight who he is, he's found an acceptable way to live with who he is. All he's doing is fighting off destructive urges and cravings just like anybody else with a conscience. Except, for Stefan, the stakes are much higher.
If I upset you, which your rant would seem to indicate, I sincerely apologize. Like I said, this is my fault.
Actually I was calm when I typed my post, I just don't like when Everyone seems to place Stefan as the "good" type and Damon directly as the bad guy. Who's to say Stefan isn't as horrible? We don't know that...Stefan could have done as much bad as Damon has done in the past. Ok it happened 145 yrs ago, but that's not something u can just get over, idc how long ago it was. 2B honest, Damon is growing, slowly but surely, Stefan said it himself...he's actually feeling something. N I also already said that him not killing people in a long time, doesn't excuse him. Do I get upset with him at sometimes...yes I do, but I also understand where he's coming from. And when others only see one side of things, it bothers me. Not saying you just in general. Your apology is accepted, and I know what u mean, u know how we all get passionate about our shows, some more than others, especially on this site, and usually I like the comments you leave. But this time, we have different views, and we'll just have to agree to disagree.
I just can't see all of this fervent loyalty towards Damon considering who and what he is. Yeah, I get it. He's a brooding, ridiculously attractive bad boy. He's also an extremely dangerous, unrepentant, murderous sociopath who is incapable of having a healthy, functional relationship.
To be frank, I don't get the big deal with Stefan either. That guy is stone cold boring.
It's really saying a lot that, out of all the male leads on this show, the healthiest relationship Elena could have is probably with her teacher, Alaric.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

I found that very difficult to read because my eyes kept getting caught on the double-mint exclamation points.

i'M SMILING LIKE A FOOL RIGHT NOW, HAHAHAHA I'm glad I got my answer, and I believe him, cuz he never lies to Elena. Delena FTW!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is the episode with Courtney Ford from Dexter. Excellent.
ReplyDeleteBecause the CW fawns over the Vampire Diaries and barely admits Supernatural exists. Thank goodness for TNT!
ReplyDeleteEdited to add...I definitely like SPN more than VD, no matter the promo.
...why is the Vampire diaries promo better than the Supernatural promo? Thats not fair. I'm suppose to like Supernatural more than this show.
ReplyDeletePlease forgive him, Elena! He only... killed your brother. Sorta.
ReplyDeleteI do to,I'm just a little disappointed the the Supernatural sneak peek didn't get me more excited.
