TNT Conjures Up Pre-Season Supernatural Marathon for Sept. 23-24
TNT will air a 20-hour marathon of favorite Supernatural episodes to get fans ready for the latest season of the hit series. The haunting drama will take over TNT’s lineup Thursday, Sept. 23, at midnight (ET/PT) through Friday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) to build excitement for the series’ sixth season premiere on The CW (Friday, Sept. 24, at 9 p.m.). The marathon will include several episodes from Supernatural’s fifth season, including the season premiere and season finale.
Supernatural follows Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles), two brothers bound by tragedy and blood to their dangerous, other-worldly mission. Together, they face supernatural evil using the skills they learned from their father. During the show’s fifth season, Dean and Sam faced their toughest foe yet: the Devil himself. As the Apocalypse raged on around them, the brothers, aided only by a dwindling band of fellow hunters and rebel angel Castiel (Misha Collins), sought a way to stop Lucifer and save the planet. Supernatural is produced by Warner Bros. Television in association with Wonderland Sound and Vision, with executive producers McG (Charlie's Angels, The O.C.), Eric Kripke (Boogeyman), Robert Singer (Midnight Caller), Sera Gamble, Ben Edlund and Phil Sgriccia.
TNT’s marathon will kick off Thursday, Sept. 23, at midnight (ET/PT) with the fourth-season finale, “Lucifer Rising,” followed by the fifth-season premiere, “Sympathy for the Devil.” The schedule for Friday, Sept. 24, will include 10 additional episodes from the fifth season, including the dramatic season finale at 7 p.m. (ET/PT). TNT will follow its Supernatural marathon with a special presentation of the 2007 sci-fi blockbuster I Am Legend, starring Will Smith.
The following is a complete schedule of TNT’s Supernatural marathon:
Thursday, Sept. 23
Midnight “Lucifer Rising” (Season 4 Finale) – As the Apocalypse approaches, Castiel and Zachariah inform Dean that his moment of glory draws nigh. Sam, disagreeing, goes with Ruby to take on Lilith.
1 a.m. “Sympathy for the Devil” (Season 5 Premiere) – Sam, Dean and Bobby must deal with the aftermath of the Devil’s escape from Hell. They also receive startling news from the Prophet.
2 a.m. “Mystery Spot” (Season 3) – Dean is killed after looking into a case about the disappearance of a man with Sam. The next morning, Sam is shocked to find Dean alive and realizes that he is reliving the day before.
3 a.m. “In My Time of Dying” (Season 2 Premiere) – In the aftermath of the car crash, the surviving Winchesters go to the hospital, where one is stalked by a Reaper while another must consider sacrificing himself to save the others.
4 a.m. “Jus in Bello” (Season 3) – FBI Agent Henricksen finally captures Sam and Dean, but he is caught in the middle when a horde of demons descends on the small-town jail to eliminate the brothers.
5 a.m. “Ghostfacers” (Season 3) – While investigating the haunted Morton Mansion, Sam and Dean run into a couple of familiar faces and become inadvertent participants in a new reality show named Ghostfacers. As events turn deadly and the team is trapped in the house, the investigation becomes a battle to survive until morning.
Friday, Sept. 24
6 a.m. “Bloodlust” (Season 2) – Sam and Dean encounter a vampire hunter whose obsession may get them all killed.
7 a.m. “Sin City” (Season 3) – The brothers investigate a town where the citizens have turned to drinking and gambling. Meanwhile, Bobby gets an unexpected ally as he attempts to rebuild the Colt.
8 a.m. “In the Beginning” (Season 4) – Dean gets transported back in time and ends up in Lawrence, Kan., where he crosses paths with a young version of his parents, who have just fallen in love.
9 a.m. “Nightshifter” (Season 2) – The Winchesters investigate a series of crimes where robbers with no criminal past commit suicide after the hold-ups.
10 a.m. “The Real Ghostbusters” (Season 5) – Sam and Dean are tricked into attending a Supernatural convention by their super-fan Becky. The brothers are in for a shock when many of the fans are dressed up like them.
11 a.m. “Changing Channels” (Season 5) – Dean and Sam find themselves mystically trapped in a series of real-life TV shows, from which there appears to be no escape. They believe their old enemy the Trickster is responsible, but discover it could involve someone or something else.
Noon “The Song Remains the Same” (Season 5) – Anna travels back in time to kill Mary and John Winchester before they can conceive Sam and Dean, thus preventing the Apocalypse. Castiel transports the brothers back to save their own parents, but they must answer awkward questions when their parents begin to wonder what’s going on.
1 p.m. “My Bloody Valentine” (Season 5) – Lovers begin to kill each other in a small town on Valentine’s Day. When Sam, Dean and Castiel investigate, they discover that people are not starved for just love. Famine, one of the Four Horsemen, is fueling their hunger.
2 p.m. “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid” (Season 5) – In Bobby’s hometown, the dead rise from their graves and take up their normal family lives where they left off. Sam and Dean suspect something sinister is responsible, but Bobby refuses to investigate after his dead wife, Karen, returns.
3 p.m. “99 Problems” (Season 5) – Sam and Dean find a town where the angels have chosen a pastor’s daughter, Leah, as a prophet to teach the townsfolk how to fight demons. The town is soon swept up in a religious fervor as Leah passes on the angels’ increasingly strict commandments.
4 p.m. “Hammer of the Gods” (Season 5) – Earth’s pagan gods gather and trap Sam and Dean in a hotel. While they try to decide what to do, Gabriel arrives and tries to keep the gods from engaging in futile battle.
5 p.m. “The Devil You Know” (Season 5) – Crowley contacts Sam and Dean and offers to help them find Pestilence so they can get the third ring and trap Lucifer. They capture the demon in charge of coordinating the Horsemen’s activities, but Sam realizes that the demon is an old acquaintance.
6 p.m. “Two Minutes to Midnight” (Season 5) – After Bobby and the brothers recover Castiel, they search out Pestilence, who is preparing to unleash the Croatoan virus upon the planet. Meanwhile, Lucifer is using Death to create a storm that will wipe out 3 million people, but Death has a plan of his own.
7 p.m. “Swan Song” (Season 5 Finale) – The fifth season concludes with the Apocalypse, which forces Sam and Dean to make heart-shattering decisions that will alter their lives forever.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to enjoy any of the marathon of episodes on Friday. With my work and sleep schedule, some things just have to wait. But, I have the season 5 DVDs and I have been enough trouble staying up at night watching these! I was hoping to watch more of them before Friday gets here, but I am not sure I will be able to do that. Oh, well, I am too excited about Friday night to be upset about it!
ReplyDeleteWell, you get to choose the episodes you want in the marathon that way PLUS no commercials. Still, I wouldn't trade seeing the premiere next Friday for anything. So yeah, that sucks out loud for you! Sorry.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! I can't wait!! I'll watch it all, I love my Supernatural!!
ReplyDeleteSo, um, I heard about this weeks ago, and I got so excited, I requested the 24th off from work :) Even better, they gave it to me! I HAVE THE WHOLE DAY to devote to Supernatural! I am one happy frigging camper. TNT knows how to treat our boys :)
ReplyDeleteI keep waiting for them to show Season 5, though. But I love that, right now, the seasons are all so evened out that the final two episodes of each season always air the same day. Yesterday they aired 3.15 Time is On My Side and 3.16 No Rest For The Wicked, and today -- even though I missed it -- they aired 4.01 Lazarus Rising and 4.02 Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean Winchester. (The only thing I hated about season 4 was Ruby 2.0 [Genevieve Cortese]. No offense to Jared's wife, but she can't act. She had me repeatedly smacking my head into a pillow in frustration. >:-{ )
Don't watch I Am Legend or you will miss the season 6 premiere.
ReplyDeleteedited to say....unless where you live, they are showing the premiere at a different time. Then disregard the former comment.
Can't TNT just buy the remaining seasons of Supernatural from the CW? It's obvious that TNT gives it more love and attention, while the CW tries to kill it off. Then TNT would be able to show it at night when I can watch it instead of during the morning.
ReplyDeleteI hope people who don't normally watch SPN get caught up in this marathon and become viewers. That's what happened to me with NCIS and Burn Notice. BTW, I was at Blockbuster when the guy in front of me was asking if the store carried Supernatural because he had seen a couple of episodes and wanted to watch the whole season. How's that for awesome!
You lucky, lucky people. Guess I'll just have to organise my own personal Supernatural marathon. Of course I won't be able to see the Season 6 premier until a few days after you guys, so I have to have something to keep me occupied while I wait.
ReplyDeleteThank God for TNT. They know how to treat a television show, even when it's not their own show! :)
ReplyDeleteI wish there was a network in The Netherlands who would do this. But no :(
ReplyDeleteTNT is so awesome... they always air stuff that I love watching. I'll definitely be tuning in for the SN marathon, and probably I Am Legend, too! Sounds like an awesome way to end my week :D
ReplyDeleteWow, I am really excited about this! I have to plan some sleep time very carefully because I don't want to be a zombie when the S6 premiere comes on... I think maybe 5am to 9am... That should do me :-)
ReplyDeletePlaying them out of order is an interesting idea... I always watch them in order. This should be fun and will hopefully help me survive that last little bit before the new episodes start. Thanks TNT!
Thanks for the sympathy, I appreciate it! But yeah you're right - no commercials - something to be thankful for.
