The Event - Sold to Almost 200 International Markets!

17 Sept 2010

LONDON -- NBC's conspiracy thriller "The Event" has sold to almost 200 international markets ahead of its debut on Sept. 20.

Broadcasters in Canada, Africa, the U.K., Australia and the Netherlands are among those to take the show before its air date, a pace which NBC Universal TV distribution boss Belinda Menendez said was "extraordinary."

Broadcasters in a number of territories are working to fast-track their launch dates, she added.

The high-octane thriller follows Sean Walker, played by Jason Ritter, as he investigates the disappearance of his girlfriend and uncovers a global conspiracy involving the newly elected President.

  2. Yes DarkUFO, I was just going to comment on the same thing. FlashForward also soared to hundreds of International Markets and a year later, no more FlashForward :(
I am still being asked by friends when FlashForward and Heroes are coming back on because they all know I'm a die-hard TV show fan and a TV show dictionary. When I tell them the sad news they go into shock.

  3. I agree, although FlashForward also had similar numbers of sales to
International Markets.... and we all know how that ended :)

  4. I think now it's a lock for a full 22 episode season even if the ratings are pathetic. 200 markets means a lot of money to keep the show afloat for atleast the whole first season. But I really hope that it gets good ratings eventhough it has a pathetic lead-in and it's up against another promising show, LoneStar, with House as it's lead-in. anything over 10 million in total viewers and over 3.5 in the adult demographic would surprise me pleasantly.
