Doctor Who - Smith teases Season 6

While talking to Metro.co.uk about this year's Doctor Who Christmas Special, Smith tantalisingly mentioned another script for the next series of the show which Moffat had penned: 'God, I wish I could tell you the other thing he’s just written, which is just mind-blowing. I think he’s delivered his best script yet. I can’t say anything about it, but it’s bloody brilliant.'

Smith said that the Christmas Special, which has already been shot, would be a treat for the fans: 'We've got Michael Gambon playing a Scrooge-like miser with a time travelling twist – and I think it’s really, really good. It’s particularly Christmassy, lots of snow and lots of twinkly lights. I think it’s full of the right heart and soul for the season. Steven has, once again, written something brilliant.'

Steven Moffat, who took over from pervious showrunner Russell T. Davies, has been responsible for many of the show's most memorable villains - including the terrifying killer statues The Weeping Angels, and the clockwork robots of The Girl In The Fireplace.

Smith is filming the next series of Doctor Who right now, and says he's currently trying to cope with the demands of night shoots: 'I’m trying to attune my body clock to staying up until six in the morning and waking up at one in the afternoon. It’s always a bit weird. And we’re in a quarry so it’s freezing. Classic Doctor Who location…'

The Doctor Who team is currently shooting the script penned by multi-award winning British author Neil Gaiman (writer of books like American Gods and The Graveyard Book, and co-writer of the film Beowulf, which starred Angelina Jolie.) Smith said that Gaiman's script was 'a real cracker – I think it’s going to be a real one for the Who fans, I think they’re going to love it.'

'I saw Neil last week,' Smith added (Gaiman, who lives in America, visited the set in Cardiff last week and attempted to steal the TARDIS). 'I was talking to him about Coraline and Beowulf, so he was telling me stories about Angelina Jolie, which were... interesting.'

Smith was promoting the new Doctor Who Live shows, which will feature key monsters from the series in a special-effects filled live show. He said the shows would be 'a bit of a bonanza for Who fans – it’s a bit like having a Dalek come out of the TV and be right in front of you.'

  3. I believe Gaiman was writing episode 3. I'm not sure where I got that from but Id assume it to early to be the mid season finale.
