Also keep upto date with the competition and/or ask questions by following me on twitter. I'll also post some of my reviews, writing updates & other bits & bobs, more often than not TV and Film based. I'm at: http://twitter.com/AdDHarris
Yesterday, (I'm gonna make educated guesses who the winners are) saw Clark & Lois of Smallville both use each others support to eliminate Eric Northman, and more significantly perhaps, Dana Scully, from the competition. Fox is gonna have to go this fight alone. Also there were victories for NCIS with Ziva David, certainly pleasing that crowd after Leroy Jethro Gibbs failed to legitimately challenge Sam Winchester the day before, as well as Peter Bishop seeing Fringe has an entry in round two as he beat Richard Castle fairly comfortably.
Today is a day with some of the competition's biggest names fighting it out for a place in round two, including a huge 3 characters from House. The first battle sees the titular 'Greg House' take on the also titular lead, 'Chuck'. Also we have '30 Rock's' Liz Lemon facing 'House's' Allison Cameron as well as 'The Vampire Diaries' Damon Salvatore taking on James Wilson, the final 'House' entrant today. Finally we have 'Gilmore Girls' Lorelai Gilmore squaring against 'Fringe' detective Olivia Dunham. Today is certainly going to make for interesting reading, House was one of he biggest flops in the Show Competition, can it improve today?
Don't forget to keep following your bracket if you entered the competition athttp://www.dawgsled.com/darkufo/welcome.asp

Olivia vs. Lorelai?
ReplyDelete:(
It probably will at some point. As soon as this competition builds up all bets are off for me. lol
ReplyDeleteOoops. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteThat I do. It's nice to have a place to talk about Supernatural where people don't respond either "What show?" or "Not that show again!" It would be the teens in my life that respond in the later. Apparently, they think I am too into SPN. Bah! What do they know!
ReplyDeletechuck and house????? that's the hardest question i've ever heard
ReplyDeleteHem, you're the Adam Harris type my sweet Marie, aka always late :)
ReplyDeleteRoud 1.7 and 1.8 are already over.
Take a look at the "Recent comments" box (top right of the page) and select the rounds under the comments.
You've already missed rounds 1.7 and 1.8. The next round should be up later
ReplyDeletetoday
House, Cameron, Damon, Lorelai
ReplyDeleteBest comment since the beginning of the tournament. ;)
ReplyDeleteScore reminder :
Damon Salvatore :4 017 votes
James Wilson : 1 156 votes
Wow.Someone does like SPN.Two winners in two previous polls. Too good, there is chance.
ReplyDeleteIt's so strange. I hope it's not cheating again xD because i love SPN so much.
Wow.Someone does like LOST.Three winners in three previous polls. Too good, there is chance.
ReplyDeleteIt's so strange. I hope it's not cheating again xD because i love LOST so much.
Edit : correct me if my numbers are wrong :)
Hem, i have a stupid question guys.
ReplyDeleteYou do know that the Chuck in the "Greg House vs. Chuck" match-up is from the serie called Chuck and not from SPN, don't you ?
http://www.nbc.com/chuck/
I have the feeling i am crying in the wilderness :(
ReplyDeleteNever mind, see you for the next episode!
Yep, it seems our testing was not good enough. Also a number of people
ReplyDeleteon certain browsers could not even get the polls to load at all which
meant that a large number of people could not vote at all. Now that
PollDaddy is back up and running we're seeing the larger numbers again
in the polls.
There's no way the admins cheated.
ReplyDeleteThe solution to your question/problem is that Micro-poll sucks so bad and has some problems that allows some people to vote more than once.
Problem solved :)
Yep, same here. Looking back over the server stats over the years, I
ReplyDeleteshould have realised that Chuck/Supernatural have a much stronger
online presense than their actual viewing figures suggest.
We next year we'll know a little more about how to pick a better bracket :)
So as things stand, I'm dropping to almost dead last in the bracket competition. This top right bracket was hard! Oh well. House was my last hope for someone who could beat Locke. Darn!
ReplyDelete:-) The first time I heard it I thought the person was nuts, but it has grown in popularity. I read somewhere (probably here) that this was a fan-driven theory which Kripke and Co. had not thought of. Therefore, they are leaving it up to fans whether to believe it or not. I choose not because according to SPN's own mythology, Dean's amulet should have heated up every time he was near Chuck and surely he would have noticed that. Plus, I don't like Chuck for bringing that whole meta-line to the story (and the truly awful Becky) so I'm leaving him as a prophet in my mind. I do wish that they had not brought God into the story at all though because I thought it was badly handled. Did like the angels though. Go Gabriel!
ReplyDeleteI like the theory that he was just a prophet. Like in the Bible, once his mission was done, he was instantly taken to Heaven.
ReplyDeleteWow. Someone doesn't like House. Three losers in three polls. Too bad, there is no chance.
ReplyDeleteIt's so strange. I hope it's cheating again xD because I love House so much.
Hey, Daphnie1.....Did you ever hear of the theory about Chuck actually being God all along on Supernatural? If I wasn't searching online for Supernatural news, I would never have thought of that!
ReplyDeleteThat would be NO one from House + Olivia for me, hehe :D
ReplyDeleteAt least someone saying the truth here and not accomplice with the admins ( circomlocution for Amy).
ReplyDeleteThe truth is i was waiting for someone to say that because the admins cheating will reveal itself to everyone :))))
Of course you can use proxies to bypass a IP-based poll; that's the point, the proxy gives you a different IP.
Now can someone explain to me how you can remove duplicates votes (votes with the same IP) when voting with a proxy that gives you A DIFFERENT IP from your legitimate one.
Considering the other way to cheat (a security breach that allows you to multiple vote with the same IP) is imho in the admins and Amy's imagination (for the second round with Micropoll), i persistently claim that Gibbs's fans have been fooled.
So much free guess in one post...My turn.
ReplyDeleteNoone denies DarkUFO is a Lost fan. The two admins want SPN to go through because the battle between SPN and the others is what brings more viewers to the site. Simple as that and noone can blame them for that. This is the real purpose of online polls : bring viewers to one site.
Some commentors have brandished the ultimate weapon : no Sam on next round and i'm done with the poll and the site. Whooo, scary for one admin!
The only known fact here is DarkUFO pretending there was cheating and removing votes miraculously to save Sam.
ReplyDeleteAnd when Dahne innocently asked if there was cheat in other match-ups, DarkUFO answered "tell me about it". I smell lie.
Concerning Sam's numbers, you're just repeating what DarkUFO said you to say.
Based on what proof can you say there was cheating on the second round : IT HAS NOT BEEN PROVEN.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing i have red is people pretending they were multiple voting but how can you tell (and test) it's your vote talling in the flood of incoming votes. Some others tried and said it didn't work.
On the previous round, it has been proven that a simple clear-cookies allowed you to vote again with the same IP. And numerous commentors said they did.
Nobody hacked Polldaddy system to cheat : they let the door open themselves. Saying "someone found a kink in the armor of Polldaddy" is a lie. And saying "chances are they found it with Micropoll too" is a guessing based on a lie. O_O.
Yes the phone thing didn't work but how do you know they didn't use proxies and shiz to cheat?
ReplyDeletehaha...I haven't ever seen Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteAnd also, I put hours of typing and checking into these polls. Would be a huge waste of my life if I cheated it. I may as well just wake up everyday and say, 'Hey I think Locke/House/Dean or whoever is the Best today.' :P
Well House is getting....how shall I put this. Shafted!
ReplyDeleteOK. I tried. I really, really tried. I've now watched 18 freaking episodes of The Vampire Diaries and I want every second of my life back. Elena is approaching Locke status in my utter disdain, Stephan is as appealing as wet cardboard, and Damon is the ham in their cheese sandwich. With 2800 votes, he is the most liked character today and I do not get it. The character is over the top in every episode. Yes, he is better than the other two but that's not saying much. He is like a caricature of a character, a bad melodrama villain, twirling his mustache and tying girls to the track. I want to like his character. I want to think of him as the bad boy with a heart of gold, but even in the scenes where I know I am supposed to feel for him, all I can do is roll my eyes. I just don't get the love.
ReplyDeleteOh man, Jack Bauer and River Tam? SO MUCH badassery in one poll. XD
ReplyDeleteHouse and Olivia FTW!!
ReplyDeleteDarkUFO is a HUGE Lost fan. Why would he care if Sam won or lost? Besides, there was cheating occurring on both sides, although less so on the Sam side (I think the prechecked numbers were 5700ish vs 1800ish? somewhere around there). To me, if someone found a kink in the armor of Polldaddy, chances are they found it with Micropoll too. And I was able to vote more than once with my phone, a total of 3 times(me testing it not cheating, lol), and the fact that it even let me do that should raise doubts as to the integrity of the poll. My computer would not allow me to vote at all. But my phone did? Maybe it's a bug related to 3G network use, I don't know. I'm not an expert, but the guys that quality control check the poll results are.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, Sam's numbers seem to match the theme of the rest of the Sunday polling. Lower numbers on the weekends are typical, as I recently became aware.
I was wrong talking about Polldaddy but you're completely wrong Dahne.
ReplyDeleteThe poll system, Micropoll in this case, was settled so that it was one ip, one vote. Just like Polldaddy before the bug.
Using another device to vote is like using an other computer.
To my knowledge, noone experienced multiple voting WITH THE SAME IP. Randomnesscity answered that he tried with his iPhone but couldn't.
If there was a way to cheat, the numbers of votes would have been higher.
And after removing the "duplicates", Sam won with only 1214 legitimate votes. Seriously, do you believe only 1214 people voted for him ?
They weren't using PollDaddy when the round was done for a second time. The poll system they were using allowed multiple voting for iPhone, etc. Believe me, I think it's fair to say that they are not rooting for SPN characters. They are both LOST fans.
ReplyDeleteAnother easy day for me. I don't like anyone on House except for Wilson and I loved Lorelai on Gilmore Girls. My votes are Chuck (even though I have never seen it), Liz, Wilson, and Lorelai. Although bracket-wise, I hope I'm wrong on every one except Liz. Sue and Scully's losses have killed me in the bracket standings.
ReplyDeleteEasy for me... House, Cameron, Wilson and Lorelai.
ReplyDeleteSorry, i just wanted to answer eve, who was looking for Cuddy.
ReplyDeleteYour votes for tomorrow are correct, except the first one: River Tam beats up eveyone.
I voted for Chuck.
ReplyDeleteGo Lorelai! Come on people, she's one of the most awesome female characters I've ever seen, her only defect is her daughter :P but her strengh, sense of humour, movie and music taste, energy, the way she talks, her relationship with her parents, the way she's raised her kid, all that makes her a total ass kicker. Strong, powerful, independent woman, yet sweet and adorable. Who wouldn't love Lorelai (and her beautiful name)? ;)
ReplyDeleteVoted House.
ReplyDeleteYes! Olivia Dunham is winning at the moment! <3
ReplyDeleteHouse x3
ReplyDeleteOlivia Dunham
Cant believe Scully didn't make it through o_O. Hoping that now Fox can make the X-Files proud.
Chuck, Cameron, Wilson and Liv! Come on, guys!
ReplyDeleteTomorrow's match-ups :
ReplyDeleteJack Bauer
River Tam
Abby Sciuto
Lisa Cuddy
John Locke
Spike
Chloe Sullivan
Brooke Davis
Big fights to come!
"Also there were victories for NCIS with Ziva David, certainly pleasing that crowd after Leroy Jethro Gibbs failed to legitimately challenge Sam Winchester"
ReplyDeleteI still don't understand how there could have been duplicates votes in this round since the Polldaddy bug was fixed.
i'm starting to think that you mods are biased when it comes to SPN.
Why can't I unlike something? I just wanted to reply to eva, not "like" her post ;-)
ReplyDeleteTake a look at the bracket game and you will see that cuddy is on the next round and she will face abby (NCIS).
ReplyDeletehttp://www.dawgsled.com/darkufo/welcome.asp
If Cuddy's in the voting (and I guess she is because there are four House nominees, two of them female, and it's not Thirteen), she'll probably up for voting in a different round ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat?
ReplyDeleteMy three favorite characters House, Cameron and Wilson and Lorelai Gilmore - boy, that was easy to decide :)
ReplyDeletewhy no poll about cuddy?
ReplyDeleteDamon <3
ReplyDeleteChuck <3
Lorelai <3
This is the hardest round for me so far ;/
ReplyDeleteFirst poll was easy for me , no questions... House just rules!!!
Second poll still easy, i don´t watch 30 rocks and I love Cameron ;)
Third poll... damn this was a really hard decision, I love Wilson, he is such a likable character, but I had to vote for Damon! Damon is a really interesting character and Ian´s performance of his inner conflicts is just brilliant!
And after I already had to make such a hard choice, you put Lorelai up against Olivia -,- grml
I´m so locking forward to the new season of fringe, it´s a great show and Olivia did really grow on me the last season, but I voted for Lorelai, she was such a great mother and so funny and crazy!
same here, 3x House and Olivia
ReplyDeleteTwo polls with both characters I like and two with both that I don't care about. Nice choice.
ReplyDeleteNice one mate.
ReplyDeleteVoted the same :)
Have a problem with the Vampire Diaries one. Hopefully will be up soon. Sorry for the delay!
ReplyDeleteThere we go. Fixed. A little worried about what happened in the poll just before, but I think it's okay now.
My votes were for the 3 House Characters and Olivia. :)
lol. When I posted my question, I was thinking someone was going to say that : ) I asked Daphne1 because I know she likes the show Supernatural.
ReplyDelete1. If I am an "accomplice", then I better be getting paid for putting up with this.
ReplyDelete2. It's spelled circumlocution.
3. LOL @ "admins cheating"
4. I know enough about computers and IP addresses and proxies and pixies and tinkerbells to know that I am NOT an expert. All I know is that my _voting by phone_ produced a completely different outcome on the screen than my _voting by computer_.
5. Why am I even responding to this?
Yes.
ReplyDeleteHouse is extremely popular, I think it's more that the fanbase is just not that active on the web. Or just not as crazy, lol. Or should I say passionate. :P
ReplyDeleteHear, Hear! :D
ReplyDeleteIf I forgot about Becky, the convention, and season 5, I would not think about Chuck at all. That's most of his storyline. :-) Actually, my favorite Chuck part was in The End when he told current Dean to horde toilet paper. I was rolling. It was the only meta-free Chuck episode and the only one I truly loved him in. Maybe it's not Chuck and just the story he is saddled with. I hate meta because it is too much "wink, wink" and that takes me completely out of the Winchester world.
ReplyDeleteThen there are a multitude of "fake" SPN fans lol
ReplyDeleteGod or no God, I loved Chuck ;) although I would rather him stay a prophet as well. But i just cannot understand why you hate the "meta" so much (and what does meta mean anyway? I know what you mean, but just don't get the word). Forgetting about Becky, the Supernatural convention and all from season 5, I really, really enjoyed episode 4x18, when Chuck was introduced. It was very unexpected and the way they played a game with fans and their imagination was just brilliant.
ReplyDeleteno way, the real SPN fans would never vote against any of the brothers as long as you don't have them against each other ;)
ReplyDeleteNo, you misunderstood, I meant that when Dean was in a Poll, Sam fans
ReplyDeletewould vote against him and visa versa.
How can you say there will be such a match-up. There is stillv a few rounds to go through before that.
ReplyDeleteI know those are big accusations; i wouldn't do that if i wasn't 100% sure. But i can't stand manipulations: i have the feeling i'm beeing taken for a fool and i hate it. At least the admins let me write it till now. Yet don't forget that the Polldaddy system have had a glitch. (but again that was not cheating, people were allowed to vote again, even if the admins didn't want that)
ReplyDeleteI know for sure that the Gibbs votes were for the vast majority legitimate, that means each from one different IP.
(i cannot say 100 % of the 5 700 votes were legitimate but at least 5 500).
I wonder how it is possible to have at the end only 995 votes; it's beyond me.
I have not seen a valid answer to that question till now.
But what is done is done, let's concentrate on the forthcoming match-ups
Edit : all my post are edited because i correct the grammar and typing errors, that's all.
I resent that. ;) lol
ReplyDeleteFrom a completely objective standpoint, not as an SPN fan: after the BSE competition, how could you not expect the SPN fandom to dominate?
ReplyDeleteJust wait until Isobel shows up. Then watch the finale. :)
ReplyDeletethey let the Vampire Diaries through...(well, supposedly...) lol
ReplyDeleteI SMELL A CONSPIRACY!!!!
ReplyDeleteThose are big accusations...I know that I've hosted polldaddy polls before and I never was able to mess with the polls themselves... (then again I might not be very experienced with them so...idk)
So where's the enxt round of voting!?
ReplyDeleteI like House. Though I must admit for some reason Season 6 bored me. The finale was interesting though.
ReplyDeleteFor me, Wilson doesn't stand a chance.
ReplyDeleteSee my previous answer.
ReplyDeleteYou support Lost by choice.
You support SPN by necessity.
ooh, too bad Brooke isn't gonna make it, those crazy Smallville fans certainly won't let her...
ReplyDeleteI voted House and Damon.
ReplyDeleteJack Bauer
ReplyDeleteAbby Sciuto
John Locke
Chloe Sullivan
Sorted out my votes already (:
Actually, the House poll on Huddy was extremely active. That poll had by far more than the SPN poll at the same time. That's why I picked House going so far. Now my bracket has collapsed. Oh well. I don't like House anyway.
ReplyDeletePlease see Adam's answer to your previous answer. It would make more sense to not want SPN to win, as that would not benefit Lost in any way. And...also...he could probably think of better stuff to do with his time than alter the outcome of character polls. I have no idea why you are determined to think there is this conspiracy. This is a TV show fictional character contest, not the presidential elections. It is just not that big enough of a deal when you hold it up to RL.
ReplyDeleteI can think of a reason (not sure if it's right or not just saying) but after the poll dragged on and had the results nullified for the bug, and the drama that ensued, I almost didn't even vote on the micropoll...I'll bet that had something to do with the lowered numbers...I remember thinking "uggh I'll just wait for the next poll..." Another thing is, if it was adjusted so blatantly, why did they make the numbers so low? If they were controlling the numbers, why not make it at least a little higher? If you're right, it would be weird for the admins to make it such a suspiciously low and different number compared to the other polls...Not saying you're wrong and I'm right, I'm just sayin' lol
ReplyDeleteI thought the Sam vs Dean in-fighting might cause the votes the be split more :)
ReplyDelete
