Update: 6th August The Nomination Phase is now over. We've had over 900+ people submit their nominations and we're now collating all these results. The next step will be to have a number of polls to get us down to the final 64 Characters and then we'll make the draw and open up the brackets so that you can start predicting the results. Once we have peoples picks in we will then start the competition.
Update: 5th August This Nomination Phase will close on Friday, at which time we'll then get a poll going for the remaining few characters who are on "the cut" to give us our final 64 characters.
Update: 5th August We've had over 650+ people submit their nominations, keep them coming. Tell your friends and make sure you post a link to this post in any fansites/forums that you visit.
And so having had a few weeks off from daily typing out the Best TV Show Ever Competition, which saw Supernatural crowned Victorious, it is time for the 2010 Favourite Character Ever Competition.
We are on the hunt at this stage for the best 64 characters ever to have made the small screen so we can all predict then vote for our favourites all the way down to the Final 2 battling it out, much like Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries did a few weeks ago.
As always, there will be one week, maybe a bit more for people to send in their nominations for the competition, then we will seed a few of the more popular characters to avoid early clashes, then begin on a quest for the best. In order to even the field between male and female characters and get a wider range of shows and characters in, the voting will work in a fashion where you vote for your two favourite male characters, and then your two favourite female characters, and I will, in a week or so count up which characters has had the most nominations and then then they will make the final 64. Chances are there will be a poll to select the final few who have had similar numbers of nominations.
So the Rules:
1) You must select Two Male and Two Female characters only. Anyone found selecting anymore will have all nominations erased from the results.
2)There is a maximum of Three Male and Three Female Characters from each show, so a popular show may have a maximum of 6 of the final 64. You may only select two characters from one show, so if you have two male LOST characters, you may not select a Female character.
3)Hopefully (if possible) In Round one each tie will be male vs. male and female vs. female, before sexes mix from Round 2 onwards.
4) Please state the show the character is from in the Nomination eg. Walter Bishop (Fringe) and in order to be fair and to save me sifting through any characters I don't know to find the show, I will not include any votes where I do not have the show the character is from.
5)Spread the word and have fun. And make sure your favourite is in the final competition. Bear in mind that for example Jack, Locke, Desmond and Ben cannot all make the final competition, as all are male LOST characters. So if you have a favourite character, spread the word to fans of that character, not the show. Inner-show rivalries may emerge. But keep it friendly.
I'll be around during the week if anyone has any questions.
Good Luck people, and may the Favourite Character win.

great competition
ReplyDeleteI nominated Ava Moore (Nip/Tuck) , Eric Northman (True Blood) ,Erica Strange (Being Erica) and Dr Tom (Being Erica)
Yeah Barney! I didn't have room for him on my list either but I will definitely vote for him. NPH is great!
ReplyDeleteThe Favorite Character contest has not started yet. It starts in about a week. Don't worry; you haven't missed anything yet. However, if you haven't filled in your brackets of who you think will win, it closes soon.
ReplyDeleteis the contest still on? i cant find it anywhere
ReplyDeleteaye, brother. I should have!
ReplyDeleteCOME ON HURLEY! NO ONE CAN BEET THE HURLEY LOVE! :D
ReplyDeleteSophie Devereaux (Leverage)
ReplyDeleteLilith Sternin Crane (Cheers/Frasier)
Dr. Sam Beckett (Quantum Leap)
Niles Crane (Frasier)
This was extremely hard to narrow down to just 4, by the way.
*headsmack* I wish I went with Lorelei instead of Jackie!
ReplyDeleteYou just wait and see Joan weedle her way into the competition lol
ReplyDeleteI love the thought put into this! I wish more did their noms the way you do.
Ugh, fi? I like her alright, but she's so cheesy sometimes. I'd never even consider her...Especially vs. Dean.
ReplyDeleteI really came close to picking Charlie!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna rise up, I'm gonna to kick a little ass, I'm gonna to kick some ass in the U.S.A., gonna climb a mountain, gonna sew a flag, gonna fly on an eagle. I'm gonna kick some butt, I'm gonna drive a big truck, I'm gonna rule this world, I'm gonna kick some ass, I'm gonna rise up, I'm gonna kick a little ass. ROCK, FLAG, and EAGLE!!
I also nominated Walter and Olivia!
ReplyDeleteI should have nominated Desmond too, I was drunk and forgot him.
ReplyDeleteBen and Olivia!
ReplyDeletecomedy and drama having their own races is great idea! Their are just too many to choose from.
ReplyDeleteOlivia Dunham! hells yes.
ReplyDeleteOlivia Dunham! Yes!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to stay true to the spirit of the competition and vote for my overall favorite characters regardless of their potential to survive the nomination process, but ultimately I feel fairly confident that such staples as Jack Bauer, Dexter Morgan, Jack Shepard, John Locke, and Benjamin Linus will break through into the final field of 64, while others, such as Sayid, Vic Mackey, Jesse Pinkman and Joan Holloway likely don't have much of a chance even with my vote. In the end, I went with those who I think have a good shot, but may end up on the fringe when all is said and done.
ReplyDeleteOmar Little (The Wire) - While I was greatly encouraged by seeing The Wire make it to the Semifinals of the Best Show Ever Competition, I had to vote for Omar simply because I couldn't stand the thought that he might slip through the cracks (a fate that will inevitably befall too many worthy characters). Omar might have everything in the world going for him, from memorable quotations ("Come at the King, you best not miss") to an iconic presence to numerous classic scenes (walking into the grocery store unarmed, wearing silk pajamas, and still managing to inspire terror in everyone who sees him). However, as a supporting character from an ensemble show that has been off the air for three years, he doesn't have legions of supporters on these boards like the aforementioned do, and so those of us who are out here need to step up.
Don Draper (Mad Men) - An dark and iconic character from a critically acclaimed show who only becomes more compelling as the seasons go on. That said, Mad Men's early loss in the Best Show Ever tournament (to the juggernaut Supernatural, but still) woke me up to the fact that the show isn't quite the powerhouse on these boards that it seems to be everywhere else. For me, any bracket where Don Draper can't make the field of 64 would feel incomplete, even given the strength of the competition.
Gemma Teller-Morrow (Sons of Anarchy) - Probably the longest shot of any of my picks, but anyone who watches Sons of Anarchy can hopefully agree with me that this woman is an absolute powerhouse. When actresses tend to be unfairly shunted in the supporting/mom roles by the time they hit 30, it's nice to see that despite being over 50, Katey Sagal manages to kick ass while carrying a dark, complex, and substantive storyline (watch Season 2 and you'll know what I'm talking about) and looking damn fine all the while.
Juliet Burke (LOST) - In contrast to Gemma, Juliet is probably safe (lots of love for Elizabeth Mitchell on these boards). Still, I would like to help ensure that Lost gets at least one female character into the mix. While Jack, Locke, Ben, Desmond, and Sawyer tend to (deservingly) get a lion's share of the love from audiences, the women did some great work of their own, and Juliet is, in my opinion, the best of the bunch. Unfortunately, the other Lost women probably don't have a chance to make the field - Kate is too polarizing, Sun is too understated, Claire isn't iconic enough and tended to disappear for long stretches - so Juliet will have to carry the banner for all of them.
I could probably make cases for at least twenty more fantastic characters who probably be overlooked, but that's all I can do, so I guess I'll just have hope for the best along with everyone else!
I was really trying to go outside the box and come up with 1 comedy and 1 drama for each. I also wanted to exclude the big dogs, namely Lost and Supernatural. Those characters will take care of themselves. I went with:
ReplyDeleteCosmo Kramer (Seinfeld)
Jack Bauer (24)
Olivia Dunham (Fringe)
Pam Halpert/Beesley (The Office (US))
I kinda wanted to stay away from Fringe also because I feel like they can take care of themselves also, but I couldn't think of a top female. I also went through options such as: Homer Simpson, Cartman, etc. I really wanted to vote Phil Dunphy (Modern Family) on potential alone. I just didn't think he was quite "ready" to be in the top 32 after 1 season.
Quick suggestion about the whole male vs male thing. Why not have it so that all the males are on one side of the bracket and females on the other? This way we have an ultimate male vs ultimate female. We'd be able to find the Favorite Female character and the Favorite Male character. Also it may protect us from a Sam vs Dean finale which is possible after seeing the results of the best show ever. I'm not saying Sam vs Dean would be terrible, it just would lead to only Supernatural fans voting and alienate everyone else who voted in the weeks prior. Or another option is to have Males on the top half of the left side and the bottom half of the right side and Females on the bottom half of the left and top half of the right. This way we only have battle of the sexes in the final four. Just a thought since you said you wanted to have male vs male for at least the 1st round. It would just require an even 32 males and 32 females.
The male choices were tough as I wanted to list Dexter (from Dexter) and Walt (Breaking Bad), but I left it at the amazing Jack Bauer (24) and John Locke (Lost). Those are without a doubt my favourite characters on (or who used to be on) television. How can you not love Jack Bauer, damn it. Locke was a great character too, but the writers fucked that one up down the line to some extent. I also wanted to nominate GOB from Arrested Development, but sadly couldn't. Same goes for countless other characters from many shows too.
ReplyDeleteAs for the female ones, o I put Chloe O'Brian (24) who is awesome, and Olivia Dunham from Fringe.
Jack Bauer should definitely win this in my opinion, but I don't see that happening on the site that gave its runner-up to the previous best/favoured show to The Vampire Diaries. Hopefully one of the main leads on that won't win. Come on Bauer.
Oh my god, I completely forgot about Syd! I should have nominated her, she is without doubt my favorite female character of all time.
ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks, I do try ;)
ReplyDeleteYour Male nominations are the same as mine - glad to see someone else appreciates Mal :D
ReplyDeleteFemales I went with Xena and Lorelei Gilmore lol
NOoo. Completely forgot about her.
ReplyDeleteSucks how some of the best characters were in mostly-unwatched shows... and then even we that actually watched them forget about them -.- Hopefully by some miracle she actually passes through to the next round so I can vote for her.
Went for House, Dexter, Samantha from SATC (horrible show, great character) and Willow from Buffy.
ReplyDeleteThat said... where the hell is the House love?! I may prefer other shows but damn if he isn't one of the best TV characters, ever.
I think I messed up. I got an error message when I tried to post my candidates. I also didn't read the instruction that you could only nominated two from one show. That hardly seems fair. Four of my favorite characters ever are from NCIS!
ReplyDeletei hope she makes it far in the competition. she's definitely come a long way throughout one tree hill and deserves to be in this competition.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember every actor & actress I chose yesterday, but I sure picked up Jack Bauer and Buffy Summers.
ReplyDeleteGood list.
ReplyDeleteGotta love the X-Files love. Mulder is my favorite character of all time.
ReplyDeleteHad to include Mulder and Scully...also went with Dexter Morgan and Sue Sylvestri...there was a ton of a great women to choose from, but I want to make sure sue gets some love b/c she's awesome.
ReplyDeleteMy nominations were:
ReplyDeleteMale: Patrick Jane (The Mentalist)
Desmond Hume (Lost)
Female:
Monica Geller (Friends)
Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls)
My picks:
ReplyDelete- Jack Shephard (Lost);
- John Locke (Lost);
- Dana Scully (The X-Files);
- Audrey Horne (Twin Peaks).
While the males are my two favorite TV characters of all-time (Jack is the first and Locke is the second), both females aren't even in my top 20. I wish I could have chosen Kate Austen (Lost), but it would be against the rules (Lost pun intended)...
I almost did 13 too hope she gets some love
ReplyDeleteI dropped Giles for Xander poor little watcher man
ReplyDeleteRiver (I am so awsome I can kill you with math) Tam (Firefly)
ReplyDeleteDean winchester (supernatural)
Willow Roesnburg and Xander Harris (Buffy)
I voted Benton Fraser and Tony DiNozzo for the males and Dana Scully & Faith Coleman for the ladies. It's really hard to just pick them
ReplyDeleteMales:
ReplyDelete01 Boxer (Charlie Jade).
G'kar (Babylon 5)
Females:
Juliet Burke (Lost)
Janette DuCharme (Forever Knight)
Anthony DiNozzo (NCIS)
ReplyDeleteLuke Danes (Gilmore Girls)
Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls)
Brooke Davis (One Tree Hill)
I picked these. Lorelai Gilmore has to win, she was soooooo amazing! Or Dana Scully or Brooke Davis! One of them PLEASE!!!
Fox Mulder (The X Files)
ReplyDeleteGregory House (House)
Dana Scully (The X Files)
Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls)
I nominated her as well ;)
ReplyDeleteJack Shephard (Lost)
ReplyDeleteJohn Locke (Lost)
Lynette Scavo (Desperate Housewives)
Meredith Grey (Grey's Anatomy)
*I wanted to nominate Evangeline Lilly from Lost, but that would have been 3 Lost characters
Yep, as Adam said, if you forgot to put the show name in and you have
ReplyDeletenomination an unusual Character that we might not know the show for,
just post the Character and show here in the comments and we'll update
the database.
A quick update about 24 hours on from when the nomination phase opened.
ReplyDeleteWe have:
630 entries so far
However, Several people have not included the show next to the name, which I will try and work round. So do not worry if you forgot the show name at this stage.
Also, we have had a few clear multiple entries, which will be deleted.
Besides that, 600 odd entries in one day is stunning, already beating the amount of nominations we had for the Show version. Keep them coming Folks
Walt (Breaking Bad)
ReplyDeleteHomer Simspon (The Simpsons)
Sydney Bristow (Alias)
Bones (Bones)
I'm really looking forward to see who will end up battling! I don't doubt for a second that Lost will be strongly represented:P
ReplyDeleteThem's fighting words :-) I'll make you a deal. If it does come down to Dean and Locke (and there's a good chance it will), you vote for Locke and I'll vote for Dean. We'll cancel each other out. Locke was the worst part of Lost for me. If Locke is in the finale, I'm voting for the other person. Unless its Jack Bauer of course - then it's whoever wins the coin toss.
ReplyDeleteBTW I love Dean but there is a short list of people I might vote for instead of him if it really comes down to it. For instance, Fiona Glenanne from Burn Notice could kick Dean's butt. On select days, I like her more than Dean.
That's what makes this competition so unpredictable. Sure you have a fav show but there are so many awesome characters that it's even more difficult to nominate than your fav/best show nominees.
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge Supernatural fan. It might be my favorite show now.
ReplyDeleteFor certain reasons I just don't quite respect its online "cred."
Why? Just because you're a Supernatural fan doesn't man you don't love any other characters. I love Dean but I'm not sure I would vote for him if he's up against John Locke. I pretty much hate Lost now but I love John.
ReplyDeleteThis is gonna be fun. I went with John Locke (LOST), Dean Winchester (SUPERNATURAL), Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls) and Paris Gellar (Gilmore girls).
ReplyDeleteI nominated Smallville people
ReplyDeleteTV love dies hard. If I had more choices I would have nominated Ephram Brown from Everwood. Man I love older brother characters.
ReplyDeleteAll of us seem to have at least character we forgot or had to eliminate. Let's hope we get another chance next year. I really liked the idea of narrowing the amount of people you could nominate until I had to get rid of some of my favorites. Only 2 male characters - Argh it's hard.
ReplyDeleteYou win for the phrase "cray cray." That's all. :)
ReplyDeleteI think he means you can't nominate *more* than two from the same show.
ReplyDeleteDear lord I hope not. Supernatural is my favorite show and nominated a character from it, but I've decided that I'm not going to vote for Supernatural this time, I can't stomach the cray cray fans going at it over which brother they like better.
ReplyDeleteI'll probably be voting for any Legend of the Seeker characters that are nominated instead, save myself the agita :)
Just to clearify....it can't be 2 characters from the same show right??? I don't wanna mess this up, hahaha
ReplyDeleteGod Ava pissed me off!! But she was a helluva character, haha. UGH!! Y IS THIS COMPETITION SOOO HARD!!! LOL picking only 4 characters, u know how many shows i've watched?!?!? Still watching!! This is not cool, lol
ReplyDeleteDean Winchester (SN), Richard Cypher (LOTS)
ReplyDeleteBonnie Bennett (TVD), Cara Mason (LOTS)
omg i have to really think about this, I'll make a list 1st b4 i put my nominations in!
ReplyDeleteI nominated the 10th Doctor and Rose Tyler!
ReplyDelete... Castillo is a cute name for Castiel... wierd LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteNO!!!! F
ReplyDeleteI'm so pissed at myself! And i watched all the seasons only 2 month ago. :(((((((((
hate myself, lol. okay maybe not im just sad
oh love brooke!!!
ReplyDeletelol but I just dont think I can stay civil on this fight! I LOVE sammy of course but I dont understand how he can be the fav character of any one. i cant, my brain wont proceed that information!
ReplyDeleteBen Linus(lost)
ReplyDeleteJack Bristow (alias)
Karen Walker ( Will & Grace )
Brittney (Glee)
PATTY HEWES :)
ReplyDelete"When I look at you, all I see is guilt."
Joan on Mad Men = Perfection. She just exudes beauty and intellect at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI would nominate FNL people in a flash if I hadn't so many other characters I've loved on tv :/
ReplyDeleteMarshall Eriksen (How I Met Your Mother)
ReplyDeleteWesley Wyndam Pryce (Buffy/Angel)
Anya Jenkins (Buffy)
Jaye Tyler (Wonderfalls)
Having to leave off Barney Stinson, Chandler Bing, Veronica Mars and Brittany (from Glee) kind of killed me.
Atia is probably my most favorite female character from any show ever. Polly Walker dominated!!!! And SMG was so multidimensional as Buffy, a show which some write off a fluff, but I think was creative, hilarious, moving and innovative (Hush and Once more...With Feeling were some stellar and original episodes.) If I hadn't of picked those ladies I would've gone with Scully from The X-Files and Juliet Burke from Lost. Of course, I also really loved Calamity Jane from Deadwood.
ReplyDeleteThe men were hard to narrow for me but both Sawyer and Mulder are both extremely memorable and unique characters so I just bit the bullet and went with my gut.
Jack and Kate from Lost; Chuck and Sarah from Chuck.
ReplyDeleteI went with:
ReplyDeleteCharlie Kelly (It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia)
Dexter Morgan (Dexter)
Gemma Morrow (Sons of Anarchy)
Elaine Benes (Seinfeld)
Bobby and Walter are both great characters with actors who make the best of every moment they get. Great chocies! I wonder where all the Friday Night Lights fans are though. I would think they would have several people nominating them.
ReplyDeleteMan, I forgot Scrubs too. Too bad this isn't comedy in one race and drama in another. Too many good choices just to pick 4.
ReplyDeleteI submitted too many from Vampire Diaries so can I change my entry -
ReplyDeleteBonnie Bennett (Vampire Diaries) to Ellen Harvelle (Supernatural)
Male 1 = Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory)
ReplyDeleteMale 2 = Chuck Bass (Gossip Girl)
Female 1 = Bree Van de Kamp (Desperate Housewives)
Female 2 = Gabrielle Solis (Desperate Housewives)
Male 1 = Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory)
ReplyDeleteMale 2 = Chuck Bass (Gossip Girl)
Female 1 = Bree Van de Kamp (Desperate Housewives)
Female 2 = Gabrielle Solis (Desperate Housewives)
I nominated : MEN 1- dean winchester (supernatural ) , 2- castillo angle (supernatural ) FEMALE 1-silver (90210) , 2- chloe obrain (24)
ReplyDeleteALL MY WISHES FOR SUPERNATURAL'S characters
Went with:
ReplyDeleteThe Doctor (Doctor Who)
Malcolm Reynolds (Firefly)
Faith (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Kara "Starbuck" Thrace (Battlestar Galactica)
Thumbs up for nominating Jack Bauer.
ReplyDeleteMale Nomination 1 Captain Malcolm Reynolds - firefly
ReplyDeleteMale Nomination 2 Dean Winchester - Supernatural
Female Nomination 1 Lucille Bluth - Arrested Development
Female Nomination 2 Jackie Peyton- Nurse Jackie
Thanx.
ReplyDeleteClark Kent(Smallville)
Chuck Bartowski (Chuck)
Emily Prentiss (Criminal Minds)
Lois Lane (Smallville)
And of course after I post this I realize I'd rather have Veronica Mars and Patty Hewes. lol
ReplyDeleteOMG. FAIL: I forgot VERONICA MARS.
ReplyDeleteWell, I hope I'm the only one, so I can vote her up in the competition. AMAZING character.
OMG if it comes down to the Sam and Dean girls, I'm jumping ship.
ReplyDeleteI think they will be front-runners. Supernatural as I've so often proven is my favorite show. However, I didn't vote for either of the brothers (GASP!) I voted for Bobby. In "Point of No Return" he completely shattered me when he talked about his contemplating suicide and then screaming (half-teary-eyed) "BECAUSE I PROMISED YOU I WOULDN'T GIVE UP!" And him having to kill his wife...AGAIN...it's so brutally emotional...
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of brutal emotions--my other male pick was Walter Bishop. I don't believe even Bryan Cranston can pull the subtlety off like John Noble--I mean, his issues are so internal and are usually subplots and yet he somehow still steals the show everytime he has a heavy thought about his past. Those tortured eyes and manic drive to be a better man, and all the while be such a child in a way, just floors me.
(And this was not to be against Bryan Cranston who is OBVIOUSLY an incredible actor, I was just saying that Cranston gets the spotlight in more drastic ways than Noble and Noble still pushes through incredibly)
Female picks: Chloe Sullivan of Smallville -- my favorite thing about Smallville. She makes even the really bad episodes watchable with Mack's portrayal.
Piper Halliwell of Charmed: in a show that was usually so fluffy and lighthearted, Piper's endeavors were always laden with heartbreak and trauma, and Holly Marie Combs was amazing in her ability to take possibly laughable situations and turn them into gold. I mean...her death scene via shotgun to the gut? After Prue was murdered, seeing her fervently trying to bring her back? Great stuff.
Don't worry, we know nearly all the characters.
ReplyDeleteJust post them here in the comments just to make sure.
I didn't see the part about posting the show that my nominations star in. Should I go back and do that or would my nominations be disallowed?
ReplyDeleteI forgot to nominate Jack Bauer (24) a.k.a. "The best damn character ever." So, if anyone reading this hasn't voted yet, do us all a solid and toss Jack Bauer's hat into the ring.
ReplyDeleteFox Mulder (X Files) *
ReplyDeleteWalter Bishop (Fringe)
Dana Scully (X Files) *
Olivia Dunham (Fringe)
(they pwn the tv world. Enough said)
I have neither watched Supernatural nor Fringe. In fact, the only shows I actually know a lot about are Lost, House, Heroes, FlashForward, Medium and Ghost Whisperer.
ReplyDeleteMy choices:
John Locke (Lost)
Ben Linus (Lost)
Melinda Gordon (Ghost Whisperer)
Olivia Benford (FlashForward) - that's the best thing I could do to nominating another Lost actor :p
Desmond Hume (LOST)
ReplyDeleteJake Green (Jericho)
Juilet Burke (LOST)
Olivia Dunham (Fringe)
Nominated:
ReplyDeleteDamon Salvatore (Vampire Diaries)
Lucas Scott (One Tree Hill)
Brooke Davis (One Tree Hill)
Elena Gilbert (Vampire Diaries)
:)
Sam Winchester (SPN)
ReplyDeleteTrickster/Gabriel (SPN)
Piper Halliwell (Charmed)
Phoebe Buffey (Friends)
Sam Winchester I love his character on SUPERNATURAL
ReplyDeleteMale: Hank Moody (Californication) and Jack O'Neill (Stargate SG-1).
ReplyDeleteFemale: Echo (Dollhouse) and Atia of the Julii (Rome).
GO GO GO!!!
If you were drunk you should have been REMINDED of him! :P
ReplyDeleteDexter Morgan is awesome. Of course Jack Shepard. I like Claire Bennett from Heroes. On a less serious note: The Waitress from It's always sunny...
ReplyDeleteOn those Thursday nights when Dean was crying over lost relationships and hard times as Fi was detonating bombs and shooting people while in stilettoes, I was pro-Fi. What I like most about her is that she tends to have the typical guy role while still being thoroughly female. Plus, season 5 was the weakest for SPN but season 3 was the best so far for Burn Notice. To me Fi is the female Dean with far less baggage. Still, I have liked Dean for longer and better so as long as they don't kill his character this season, he will still be my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic comment. I hope you continue to promote your choices when the voting starts. It's comments like these that make this contest more fun and engaging. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteWe're used to the character poll too, but it probably isn't as reasoned as yours. My guess is after the last couple of seasons more people will vote Dean, but you're right - it will be intense. Of course that's just based on this poll being completed before the Supernatural premiere. Then all bets are off.
ReplyDeleteIn Supernatural, the best character contests always pit other characters against each other, not the brothers. I'd love to see a Bobby versus Castiel contest. (Not as the final of course. That really needs to have 2 characters from different shows to make it at all interesting. I hope that characters from the same show meet in the first rounds to prevent any one show from taking over.)
Locke was my least favorite regular character on Lost. Although if it comes down to John Locke and Jack Bauer, I won't know how to vote.
ReplyDeleteI think people who think their show got shafted in the Best Show competition are going to come out in full force. I would expect to see A LOT of Lost as well as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. It will also be hard to beat many of the Joss Whedon characters (anyone from Firefly, Buffy, etc).
ReplyDeleteGood choice with GOB.
ReplyDeleteActually, as long as people give good, specific reasons for why one character is better than the other I think it will be a blast. It's when people come off like stark raving idiots that it gets boring. However, if one of the Winchester brothers gets in the top 64, the other will be there too. I won't predict the winner, but I can predict that no matter which round it is, if it is Dean vs Sam there will be a lot of comments. Maybe even the most comments in the whole contest.
ReplyDeleteBut we're used to voting our characters against each other. Dark has a character cup every year. And there's no equivalent to the "Dean girl" and "Sam girl" thing, especially after the last season. We have our favorites but it's no where near as polarized as the Supernatural fans seem to be.
ReplyDeleteActually I think the Lost fans will implode as well and there will be more Lost characters in the 64 than Supernatural. Supernatural will have 3 tops. Likely, 6 characters will be from Lost. Lost will have the bigger collateral damage.
ReplyDeleteThis might be the toughest part of the whole game. I had to drop Rupert Giles from Buffy. It was painful.
ReplyDeleteAt around 8-10 million viewers an episode, you're certainly not the only one who likes "Castle." However, this site tends to favor younger demo shows and genre programs so "Castle" will probably not be well-represented in this tournament.
ReplyDeleteLarry David ( Curb your Enthusiasm)
ReplyDeleteOmar Little ( The Wire )
Debra Morgan ( Dexter )
Claire Fischer ( Six Feet Under)
My vote was for:
ReplyDeleteMen- Don Draper (Mad Men), Fox Mulder (The X-Files)
Women- Sue Sylvester (Glee), Rachel Berry (Glee)
I also thought of nominating Thirteen or Cuddy from House but I went with the two Glee girls, it definitely was a tough decision.
Ha ;) We never said this was goign to be easy ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd this is just the Nomination phase lol
lol I can feel your pain ;) even if I gave up on the two females and put males instead, I'd still have a bunch of favourite male characters, who would have to be given up on... yep, that was extremely painful to only choose two... :P
ReplyDeleteWow, finally a creative list.
ReplyDeleteTony Soprano (The Sopranos)
Gregory House (House)
Patty Hewes (Damages)
Buffy Summer (Buffy)
YEAH!!! a friends character
ReplyDeletewow okay you are all voting for lost lol!!! i voted...

ReplyDeleteWHAT only two male diff show OH GOD!!! I DONT KNOW
ReplyDeleteSawyer (Lost)
ReplyDeleteMulder (X-Files)*
Atia (Rome)
Buffy (Buffy)
*Although Al Swearengen is the most fully realized and astounding character I've ever seen on TV, and Ian McShane was flawless, he probably won't make it far as the show has been off the air for awhile now.
Thats like identical to mine!!! (except for the Ben part)
ReplyDeleteYou have good taste ;)
Jack Shephard (LOST)
ReplyDeleteBenjamin Linus (LOST)
Olivia Dunham (Fringe)
Sarah Walker (Chuck)
