All right! 13 was a pretty good movie for what it was and hopefully Stephen Dorff will be back!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I doubt it'll be out this year, 2010. The year is almost over, and wouldn't we have heard something about it by now? But either way, I can't wait! I amazoned the DVD a few months back!
ReplyDeleteAs an hardcore fan of the comic, I thought the tv adaptation sucked, big time. I couldn't believe what I was watching, it looked like some random B-movie with an awful and unappropriate cast (look at the characters in the comic, look at the actors who were chosen... argg). The writing was poor, the directing as well, the story was nothing like what I expected.
ReplyDeleteA "XIII" video game (from Ubisoft) was released in 2003 and that was terrific, original (split-screen, comic book style) and most importantly respectful of the original material (it basically covered only the first 5 volumes).
In the TV miniseries, it's nothing like the comic-book. I accept some liberties to the authors, there were some in the videogame and it was fine, but in the miniseries I think there wasn't any good scene.
I guess french pay-cable channel Canal+ is on board to produce the show but I bet NBC is going to pass on that one, the ratings were very low when it aired in the US. If they do 12-13 more episodes, I implore you executives : hire some good writers who are fans of the comic-book, please, and start all over, forget the crappy movies.
By the way, it's a shame that the "XIII" comic-book isn't released in english language (besides the first three volumes). Even if the story gets less awesome after the 12th volume (it would have been a perfect ending and then there's an annoying twist), even if the last 6 volumes are disappointing, the whole series is just compelling.
So, bottom line : even if it's in french (I think it was released in spanish and german as well), try and read it everyone (especially those who are fans of conspiracy stories, of the "Jason Bourne" series and of the "24" tv show as well) !
ya , they'll probably update it, strange that they have been no announcements on this, it defiantely seems a go though they're already casting for episodes (casting a Lauren Jones)
ReplyDeleteI watched the first part of it when it aired but never got round to continuing it, guess i'll watch the rest now
