Primer: Lie to Me “Delinquent”

(Recapper's note: Sorry for the delay, but I've been somewhat hobbled with a broken hand. I hope you still enjoy the recap despite the wait. Thanks for reading!)

The Premise: Torres receives a panicked phone call from her estranged half-sister, Ava, when one of the girls she’s incarcerated with suddenly disappears.

The Personal: Big week for Foster… First, Cal gets all touchy-feely after finding out she’s been attacked by intruders then Dr. Burns, a psychologist she works with on the case, presents her with his carved abs flowers. The Torres girls hug it out, and Ria forgives herself for being unable to rescue her sister from an abusive childhood. Ava is scared straight by her experience in the juvenile facility (though the jury is still out on Ria).

The Resolution: The team discovers Ava’s friend was murdered because she possessed evidence that would help prove the deputy warden coerced juvenile inmates into committing theft. The deputy warden gets to look forward to a different perspective on life behind bars, while Ava is moved to an alternative school to serve out the remainder of her sentence.

What We Learned from this Episode:

Foster is a screamer. Granted, girlfriend needs to take some self-defense classes in order to realize her full ninja potential, but the emotional fallout of Foster’s attack is riveting, and Kelli Williams owns every single minute of it.

Cal’s insurance rates are about to go up. Tim Roth and Hayley McFarland are pure magic as Emily prepares for her driver’s test. Plus, it’s always nice to be reminded of Cal’s softer side.

Ria wants Cal’s pocketful of Kryptonite. Put a little liquor in her and Ria’s daddy issues float right to the surface. Drunken Supergirl gets shot down, but Cal/Ria shippers still get off.

What's your initial reaction to Foster's new love interest? Would you like to see Ava visit her sister again in the future? Which did you enjoy more, Ria in Cal's shower or Foster in his arms? Weigh in with your opinions in the comments section.

  2. Lola, you're a shipper whore... but I'll forgive you as long as you follow through on that LtM fic you mentioned. ;)

I liked the scene itself, but I'm beginning to wonder if there's a woman alive who isn't attracted to Cal Lightman. TPTB are slowly turning him into the new Enzyte Bob.

  5. I love Cal/Gillian, too, but I have to admit that I'm glad to see she's getting a new romantic interest. The woman cannot live by slushies alone. She needs some action.

  6. I caught that, too, readingtyme. It seems as though the new PTB have little regard for continuity, but I'm hoping that's something that will change as they settle in to their new positions. It's a bit irksome from a fan's POV, though, isn't it?

So, I guess you're not a big fan of Loker?
