We've add a new design to the homepage of SpoilerTV that we will test out for a few weeks and gather stats and feedback. The next design will show the titles, labels, comment counts etc only on the homepage. This means that the site will load quicker when you access it directly from www.spoilertv.com and it allows us to display 15 Posts rather than 6 Posts on the home which hopefully will mean people are unlikely to miss key info.
To access the contents on the post either click the Post Title or the Comments Link.
Please let us know if you have any feedback/issues etc by leaving them in the comments. If this proves successful we will look at rolling this out to other parts of the site.

much better
ReplyDeleteoh, that's nice! :D
ReplyDeleteFor me, everything loads fine except for the top where it shows the updates. Takes about 10 seconds to load. But it's not an issue for me seeing as all I care about is the seeing what's new on my favorite shows and upcoming movies : )
ReplyDeleteSorry to say, but for me, I like the old set up better so I could see the whole article without having the click on the link (or if it was too long, just a snippet). But if enough people like it, I'll get used to it I suppose.
ReplyDeleteAlthought it makes the "Continue Reading" thing useless, it's better this way. :D
ReplyDeleteAh, but now I have to click on the buttons :P
ReplyDeleteI love it. The site load so much faster now.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I don't like it. I basicly follow +20 shows, so now I have to open (and load) a lot more links every day.
ReplyDeleteUpdates load way too slow. As does other portions. I fI want to view things quickly it doesnt happen. If you can fix this great if not then trash it
ReplyDeleteI much prefer the new layout, makes it so much easier to skim through updates and decide which ones I want to read.
ReplyDeleteI liked being able to see the article and media as I'm skimming over the site, but as it is now, it's bland and a big turnoff. I probably won't continue to use this site if it is permanent. It's just not for me.
ReplyDeleteThe new layout is good, but there should be a constant button on every news when you click on a specific news and read it, which sends you back to the recent page. I know there's a "Back" button on the browser, but a button to send back to the previous page is more useful, especially if I've been searching for five or six pages longer.
ReplyDeleteI like to skim over the range of shows I like but if I know something important is coming up I will avoid the show, cant do that with the RSS feeds but can't skim properly now with the new layout and read as I go along,
ReplyDeleteThe titles arent detailed enough for me to seperate tv guide stuff etc. so I might end up clicking the same tv guide link multiple times for all the different shows I watch... which will be really annoying.
It was a lot more user friendly being able to read it without having to click a link, I could know how long an article was or how much of a spoiler it was etc. its now like jumping into the unknown.
I dont like clicking to see anything, it just makes it more time consuming, which this site shouldn't be, for most it will be casual viewing and going into something that piques there interest. Now thats impossible.
As I say Im a casual viewer, if I have to click everything I want to see, I can't see me staying around for long...
Exactly paul thank you
ReplyDeleteI think it works! Btw, I'm back so I'll have Round 3 of the Best Show Hunt started as of tonight :)
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I don't like it... I prefer the way it was, because it was easier to check stuff.. Now it's easier to miss something because titles usually don't say much...
ReplyDeleteI don't like the new design. The old design was much better. It was much easier to check stuff. Now I'll probably miss a lot. And also, the site is slower for me now, because I have too many windows open with all the things I wanna read.
ReplyDeletereally great ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I understand? There is a Previous and Next button at the bottom of each page, and the Home button in the menu, or did you mean something else?
ReplyDeleteDo you have an example where we could improve the titles?
ReplyDeletei think we should have different "themes" users should be able to choose which master page to go with
ReplyDeletethat way people can choose either the old design or the new design
that would be great!!
ReplyDeletealso I'd like something like a filter, where you can say: i just want to see posts of shows that haven't aired yet + these 20 other shows, but not these 15 shows
or something like that
imagine i watch the shows lie to me, burn notice, grey's anatomy, 30 rock, v, house and bones, but i hate gossip girl, vampire diaries, supernatural and true blood
ReplyDeletenow i just want to see information about the shows i like
instead of having to go through all the news on the page looking for stuff about my shows and skipping all the stuff about other shows, i could just have it all personalized, so only the stuff i actually want to read is shown.
(of course just going through the feeds of the shows i watch is a possibility, but i watch so many shows it's usually faster just to through the news on the first page and skip stuff)
i hope you understand as my english isn't perfect
great, thx!
ReplyDeleteYep.it's nice to get rid of them
ReplyDeleteThanks Ana, glad you like it. Seems much cleaner :)
ReplyDeleteCheers Jonas, glad you like it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback Daniel.
ReplyDeleteYep, the top widget takes a while to load as it pulls in all the
various updates. I'll be looking at speeding that up next week.
Thanks for the feedback.
ReplyDeleteYep, we're going to leave it this way for a few weeks so that people
can get used to it.
It's always a bit of a toss up between showing as much info as
possible along with speed for people on slower computers and
connections.
:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback. Glad you like it
ReplyDeleteYep that's the one downside im afraid. If you follow the RSS feed you can
ReplyDeleteget the full post
That's something that is on my list of things to look at :)
ReplyDeleteCould you explain the filter part? I don't quite understand
ReplyDeleteAh I see, no you explained it very well and you're English is great.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestion, I'm not sure how easy it will be to do but
I will have a look into it and add it to my long to do list :)
