Updated Brackets HERE
Cole "The Winner" McDonald has been top for an impressive 3 days now, and sees his lead extend to 4 points. With a round 3 win headstart under his belt, he stands a strong chance of winning the overall competition at this stage. I however, continue my further slide into the depths, sitting disappointingly at 364th.
Also, if you wish to be kept more in the loop with the remainder of the competition, join my twitter feed, http://twitter.com/AdDHarris and don't miss out on any of the rest of the competition.
Day 23: A disappointing day for both shows today, Doctor Who failing to really get under LOST's skin at any stage, always playing catchup and not looking like it had a chance for the win. However, personally, I find LOST's 700 odd votes a major disappointment for the show, it's fans deserting it in large numbers from Round 1 to now. From 2400, to 1300, and now 700, LOST's downfall could lead many people to be shocked with this years winner. Barring Grey's Anatomy & The Office, LOST scored less votes than all the other quarter finalists so far. It won't be good enough. It still has time to improve, I largely expect it to see off Grey's in the Quarter Finals, but against tougher competition, it has a tough job in the semi-finals. Today we have my hot-tip for shock winner of the overall competition, Supernatural taking on the competition's biggest surprise in NCIS, which has seen off Six Feet Under and MASH on it's road so far. Can it see off such a big show as Supernatural. I'm not sure. Time to find out, Let the Battle Commence....

Fan Review: Wilson Crawford
What started off as a seemingly fun, scary monster-of-the week show in the beginning quickly revealed itself to be one of the most well-written, fantastically-plotted, genre shows of the past decade. The core of Supernatural was, is, and will always be the brothers Winchester. Cursed by the demonic murder of their mother at a young age, the remnants of the Winchester family fell into a world of darkness. They were raised by their father to hunt the evil that preys on humanity, and ultimately to rid creation of the demon that killed their mother. Supernatural has one of the most incredible teams of writers I've ever seen: they can take the apocalypse and reduce it to two bratty forces of heaven having a tantrum, and then take a few misguided granted wishes and turn them into imminent danger. The action is well-laid out, the humor is crude, satirical, and sharp, and the twists in this show are some of the most insane, thought-out twists you'll ever see in television. Like I stated previously, however, the heart of this show lies on the brothers, and this show is not only a wonderful buildup of mythos, but the character development is out of this world. I can't speak enough on the evolution, the trials, and the strength of the commitment these two brothers have for each other. There's a reason it's called the "hellatus" between seasons...and That is why Supernatural is the BEST SHOW EVER.
NCIS

Fan Review: Alyssa
NCIS is a fabulous work of CBS. Its quirky comebacks and comedic relief makes it an unforgettable piece of work, and the cliff-hangers of the season's ends make everyone come back to watch more. The characters are a dysfunctional family, facing troubles every day, but the audience is always cheering for the favorite couples on the show. We get just enough of that bonding to partially settle us, but not enough to be thoroughly satisfied. NCIS is a classic, bringing procedural dramas to a whole new level, leaving the fans with an everlasting impression.

Supernatural all the way!
ReplyDeleteAnyone know of any good Battlestar or X-Files youtube tributes or videos I could use tomorrow? Also, anyone fancy reviewing either of them? :)
ReplyDeleteSUPERNATURAL!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHey, I thought you were going to use my thoughts on Supernatural that I posted at the beginning of round 3?
ReplyDeleteI mean, I love spewing love for my show, but I didn't do it JUST to show my love, you asked for a new review/overview of the show to liven up things...
Gotta be Supernatural. I actually started watching that show for something I could watch when I was drunk, assuming that it was just a fun monster-of-the-week show and it wouldn't matter if I missed some things. And now it's one of my favorite shows.
ReplyDeleteWhat other show could work like that?
Dude, your right. I apologise. I have replaced it, I had meant too I just lost track of what reviews I have. Sorry I didn't do it from the off, I appreciate the effort and time!
ReplyDeleteIt's no problem. I just thought maybe you had forgotten--or I really HAD just posted it randomly. XD
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen any of the two, but I hate NCIS for having eliminated SFU in Round 1 so I'm going for Supernatural!
ReplyDeleteSUPERNATURAL all the way! I am so in love with this show! The characters, the mythology, the laughs, the angst, the IMPALA! Some shows best episodes cant even compare to SPN on its worst day. Its a beautiful story about two beautiful brothers hunting things, saving lives, the family business. BLOODY BRILLIANT!
ReplyDeleteI don't watch the X-Files much but I do know the value of it to our pop culture so let me give it a try:
ReplyDeleteIn the course of 9 seasons, The X-Files broke onto the scene and became the epitome of a perfect sci fi show: it had mystery, groundbreaking plots, startling thrills, and jumpstarted a generation of conspiracy theorists with its sharply-acted, well-written, mind-bending monster-of-the-week stories. Sometimes comic, sometimes disturbing, always high-brow entertainment. The sparks flew between Mulder and Scully and the sexual chemistry worked as a catalyst to push this show to heights no one had ever gone to. Part "Twin Peaks," part "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," 100% its own, The X-Files easily became an acclaimed critical darling, but also a gigantic success amongst viewers, boasting as much as 20+ million viewers in its prime. Not to mention the "radical" fanbase... The legacy it's left behind has inspired many newer shows including "Fringe," "Supernatural," and countless others. An instant classic, brimming with satire and intrigue, and that is why THE X-FILES is the BEST SHOW EVER.
Did I sell it?
I love Ncis its really good. BUT Supernatural is like a drug to me! I've seen the 4th first seasons twice already and I'm getting my friends into it too, its soooo good.
ReplyDeleteHey QUESTION lol is there a lot of guy that watch it? I say yes but my friend say no i was just wondering
I love NCIS! Crime procedural, but all about characters.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural has a huge female fanbase, but it also does well with male viewers too. Girls come for the brothers, guys come for the action, and violence, both stay for the greatness of the story.
ReplyDeleteIol I love that its a great sell for the show nice ;)
ReplyDeletecome on vote poeple vote. Supernatural better win this! we need more viewers for season 6 caus ei wanna season 7 lol
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love #ncis - and I do, I really, really do - #supernatural all the way!
ReplyDeleteI love NCIS (Tim's just a geeky delight! and Abby is great!), but that show doesn't hold a candle to Supernatural. The only show I have ever seen that has characters as compelling is Firefly..., but that was killed way too soon. So, Supernatural is #1 and #2 is a mile below it; but even that still wouldn't be NCIS... Great show, but they don't spend enough time on the characters (and there are too many)...
ReplyDeleteHere's a pretty good tribute video for "The X-Files": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOXdkn2jQUY
ReplyDeleteahhh Supernatural, don't let it close the gap! Keep voting, people! lol
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me dude!
ReplyDeleteBig day of Voting today! Seems a few other websites are getting involved. Always good!
ReplyDeleteWhich websites?
ReplyDeleteI can't believe NCIS is coming back!!! SUPERNATURAL!!! C'mon!!!
ReplyDeleteThis one for example : http://supernaturalfanwiki.wetpaint.com/thread/4083630/Please+vote+for+SPN!
ReplyDeleteBut Twitter is very used too.
Supernatural IS the best show ever. The only problem it's having is that not everybody has to be into horror-like stories, demons and other supernatural creatures. Which is why it will never be as much appreciated as it should. But is has everything: the family drama, brotherly chemistry, awesome acting by awesome actors, great dialogues, unique humour (I'm Batman! what else do you need? ;)), magical mythology and atmosphere and all the little details that make our boys ours. The Impala. Dean's sense of humour. His necklace (God, I hope he'll get it back and wear it). His leather jackets. His music. Sam's common sense. His cuteness. Their jokes. Their tears. Their hugs (why so little?!).
ReplyDeleteI mean, SPN might be a story about people who fight monsters or Apocalypse, but most of all it's the best story of two brothers who love each other (literally) to death.
lol soo true!! I'm a girl and I started watching cause I saw Jesnen and Jared together and was like: wow!! But then I fell for the story completely and now the boys' hotness is less important than the plot, the action, the mythology and magic it creates. Anyways, great post ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's bull. Do you know how fast NCIS went from 800 to 1200 votes? They were getting 10 votes every time I refreshed. (which was literally every 10 seconds or so) Nobody is rigging this poll cause if they were, it would honestly be me. I have been unable to vote more than the 1st time I did last night.
ReplyDeletewell, HONESTLY i love NCIS and the Gibb slap, but i am a die-hard overly obsessed supernatural fangirl, and that comes out on top. SORRY GIBBS! <3
ReplyDeleteI wonder how strongly this poll is faring in the twitterverse. Maybe the shows will make the list of top trending topics? IDK cause I don't use twitter.
ReplyDeletethere has to be somebody rigging this poll. "supernatural" received nearly 100 votes in just over a minute. something fishy is going on. maybe a captcha should be implemented.
ReplyDeletethe voting increase that just occurred with "supernatural" occurred a much faster rate than anything that "ncis" experienced. it's not even close. regardless, as i said, there should be a captcha implemented. otherwise, spam voting can happen (which has already happened apparently).
ReplyDeleteI really don't see how anyone can spam vote: it seems to remember my computer no matter if I restart, get on another computer and it still won't let me for some reason. And I really disagree with that. I was in the middle of telling someone that Supernatural was on top when suddenly it went from 53%-47% to 49%-51%. I honestly think it's not rigged, and this is coming from someone who has watched this since 7 this morning (I know, I need a life) but NCIS made a gigantic comeback that I've not yet seen in this competition, like the votes just wouldn't stop, and I still didn't suspect spam voting...
ReplyDeletei've seen other polls (such as those conducted by e! online) in which a person was supposedly unable to vote once, but somehow, other people figured out ways to sidestep that. there were even users admitting that they gave 10,000 votes to a particular entry, and the other one stood no chance. you could see it in the numbers as well. there were sudden sharp increases. the only thing that prevented the spam voting later was the use of a captcha. that's why i was saying that it should be used here.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't know what to say then. I would like to put it on a lot of people in the UK who might visit this site getting off work and seeing the poll, but I'm naive in that way. Either way, I stand behind my show. I think both shows have done remarkably well considering only 1 other show made it to 1000 votes this round...
ReplyDelete#supernatural I think that someone just posted info about this poll somewhere and lotsa people rushed over to vote. SPN's fans are pretty devoted ;)
ReplyDeleteSo hard to choose...
ReplyDeleteSupernatural of course! :D
ReplyDeleteNCIS is the best show on television! With it's breathtaking drama, comic relief, amazing actors, and raw characters... what show could compare! And besides... if you don't vote for it... Ziva can kill you 18 different ways with a paperclip hahahaha! NCIS has some of the best characters on TV. I do not think that there is a more diverse group of people and writing that could make them all come together like they do, other than NCIS :D
ReplyDeleteNCIS!!!
ReplyDeleteI've set up the strongest options possible to stop any spam voting. I'm looking into ways to try and further stop it. I can't see how people can do it. People in my own house can't vote after the first one has gone through!
ReplyDelete...and what other shows do you watch?
ReplyDeleteI'm a Terminator : The Sarah Connor Chronicles fan and the fan-base used to mass-vote in a lot of polls.
ReplyDeleteI can tell you that there is no spam on this one. Playing a poll would mean add thousands of votes at an incredible rate, like 100 per seconds or more. The number of votes can reach very quickly 10 000, 100 000 or a million.
We have here hieratic movements, or 1 000 votes added in a few hours : that's ridiculous and certainly not cheating.
The number of votes on this tournament are quite poor; a few thousands or so. That's nothing compared to the millions of viewers of the series and the number of fans connected to the internet.
Grey's Anatomy, Glee, Brothers & Sisters, Private Practice...
ReplyDeleteAll you need is an ip blocker and you could vote multiple times.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural for the win!!
ReplyDeleteYou're like the anti-whatever I watch.
ReplyDeleteGrey's: tired out turning into a soap/Glee: overrated, horribly acted, turning into a spectacle and losing potential every time it does a "special" episode, B&S: I don't watch it, heard it's good/PP: A bad spin-off of a once great, now mediocre show.
NCIS?: the epitome of broadcast television: gets all the viewers, keeps the entertainment to an effortless level.
This is just an opinion, however.
The Supernatural video you picked was very awesome. Supernatural's own version of 'O death' is so beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteoof that was sooo close. Its good cause this is two amazing shows.
ReplyDeleteCompletely Agreed! Although, I couldn't even stomach Grey's Anatomy when it was in its prime (just an opinion, of course). And Glee used to be GOOD! Now.... I would take (1) Dr.Who, (2) Supernatural or (3) Fringe over those shows any day (and even re-runs of the Outer Limits or the X-Files!)
ReplyDeleteI can't sit through procedural crime dramas, so I obviously voted for Supernatural. (Anyone remember Dean's rant on them during Changing Channels??? WIN)
If you're looking for another video to rec Supernatural, anything by TikiTyler on youtube is freaking awesome, but particularly this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_fyhjDvsy4
ReplyDeleteHere are two other awesome SPN videos, if you are still looking:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4CLZBcrKF0&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7iexaGokxM
Please stop with this stupid feces, this is absolutely moronic, What next? Atomic bombs vs dove bars? fleet enemas vs ex lax? Serious this one of the most moronic stream of non-sequitur mental feces I've seen in a long, long time. Stop it and get back to the spoilers. Blech !
ReplyDeleteIt's just for fun. Besides, the spoilers are still there. No need to get excited.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I had in mind this WHOLE poll lol
ReplyDeleteDude, I ALWAYS miss this polls... =/
ReplyDeleteI love both shows, but I would have voted for NCIS. :(
But NCIS is not a normal procedural crime drama like Law & Order, etc. It has drama, but also a lot of comedy bits thrown in, friendships, possible relationships, death of main characters, real drama (like break-ups, fights), and amazing well developed characters.
ReplyDeleteI've watched it. I know what it's like. I find it funny sometimes, and entertaining, but it still doesn't affect me like an episode of Supernatural. The mixture of wit, gore, and satire is just perfect.
ReplyDeleteI never even heard of Supernatural until this poll...
ReplyDeleteShoot me now.
ReplyDeleteLyss come join our bandwagon. SPN is definitely worth your time. Try DVR/watching the reruns on TNT in the mornings or Netflick a season. The relationship between the Winchester brothers will suck you in right away. For me I liked it from episode 1 but got insanely hooked in episode 3 when I decided that Dean was the best big brother character ever. SPN has everything - great writing (except a couple episodes in the first season), amazing drama, good comedy (especially the first season), and a overall mytharc that actually answers questions instead of just frustrating its viewers.
ReplyDeleteSUPERNATURAL FTW!
ReplyDeleteVarious Fan websites link to the polls each day. eg Dr Who fan
ReplyDeletesites/blogs will make a post for their readers or Grey's fans will do
the same.
Yep, we see a lot of twitter users who are fans of their shows
ReplyDeleterewteeting out as well.
Ha, I think we need a few 100,000 tweets before that happens :)
ReplyDeleteLots of fan sites and forums are linking in. IMDB, CBS Forums etc.
How would an IP Blocker help?
ReplyDelete
