Best Show Ever Quarter Final 4 - Supernatural vs. The X-Files

Jul 21, 2010

Dark is back from his Trip and so the Updated Brackets are HERE
After the first three of the four semis has taken place we have a new leader, that being Kyle Cox, taking the spot from Cole "The Winner" McDonald, who has dropped to 4th place and 4 points behind. It's still all to play for though, and in a shocking turn of events, I have found myself rising to 121st, having guessed two of the three semi finalists correctly.
Also, if you wish to be kept more in the loop with the remainder of the competition, join my twitter feed, http://twitter.com/AdDHarris and don't miss out on any of the rest of the competition.

Day 28: I apologise for no daily update yesterday, but with my travelling back from Belgium and in the drama that was the Smallville vs. The Vampire Diaries battle which I won't comment on too much, I didn't have time to type much out. The winners from both rounds were The Vampire Diaries and LOST, both of which, come closing time were comfortable winners, Vampire Diaries by around 200 votes, and LOST by a huge 2000 votes. That sees our first Semi-Final being The Wire vs. The Vampire Diaries, and personally I feel The Wire is more deserving of the Final spot, but it will take something special to stop the Vampire Diaries fans from causing an upset. I feel it will be The Vampire Diaries fans vs. the rest of the TV community, but we shall find out in due course. No disrespect to the show, but I hope that Vampire Diaries doesn't take the crown, as a show so early in it's run shouldn't win in my opinion. Hopefully next year we can make changes to make the shows elegible more deserving, but that is another year. However right now that side of the draw is not what interests me as LOST will take on one of today's big two shows in Supernatural and The X-Files. Whichever wins has a tough Semi Final against a big favourite, but as Vampire Diaries continues to prove, the winner is not set in stone. All that's left to do is Let the Battle Commence....

Supernatural vs. The Vampire Diaries
Supernatural

Seasons: 5 (ongoing)
Previous Results: R1. WON vs. Freaks & Geeks (58.18%), R2. WON vs. Mad Men (83.86%), R3. WON vs. NCIS (52.43%)
Major Awards: None
Format: Supernatural drama, horror, action, adventure, thriller
Synopsis: Starring Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, the series follows the brothers as they hunt demons and other figures of the paranormal.
Fan Review: Wilson Crawford
What started off as a seemingly fun, scary monster-of-the week show in the beginning quickly revealed itself to be one of the most well-written, fantastically-plotted, genre shows of the past decade. The core of Supernatural was, is, and will always be the brothers Winchester. Cursed by the demonic murder of their mother at a young age, the remnants of the Winchester family fell into a world of darkness. They were raised by their father to hunt the evil that preys on humanity, and ultimately to rid creation of the demon that killed their mother. Supernatural has one of the most incredible teams of writers I've ever seen: they can take the apocalypse and reduce it to two bratty forces of heaven having a tantrum, and then take a few misguided granted wishes and turn them into imminent danger. The action is well-laid out, the humor is crude, satirical, and sharp, and the twists in this show are some of the most insane, thought-out twists you'll ever see in television. Like I stated previously, however, the heart of this show lies on the brothers, and this show is not only a wonderful buildup of mythos, but the character development is out of this world. I can't speak enough on the evolution, the trials, and the strength of the commitment these two brothers have for each other. There's a reason it's called the "hellatus" between seasons...and That is why Supernatural is the BEST SHOW EVER.

The X-Files

Seasons: 9 (Finished)
Previous Results: R1. WON vs. 30 Rock (72.43%), R2. WON vs. Alias (70.11%), R3. WON vs. Battlestar Galactica (84.61%)
Major Awards: 16 Emmys, 5 Golden Globes
Format: Drama/science fiction/horror/mystery/thriller
Synopsis: In the series, FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) are the investigators of X-Files: marginalized, unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena. Mulder is a believer in the existence of aliens and the paranormal, while Scully, a skeptic, is assigned to make scientific analyses of Mulder's discoveries.
Fan Review: Wilson Crawford
In the course of 9 seasons, The X-Files broke onto the scene and became the epitome of a perfect sci fi show: it had mystery, groundbreaking plots, startling thrills, and jumpstarted a generation of conspiracy theorists with its sharply-acted, well-written, mind-bending monster-of-the-week stories. Sometimes comic, sometimes disturbing, always high-brow entertainment. The sparks flew between Mulder and Scully and the sexual chemistry worked as a catalyst to push this show to heights no one had ever gone to. Part "Twin Peaks," part "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," 100% its own, The X-Files easily became an acclaimed critical darling, but also a gigantic success amongst viewers, boasting as much as 20+ million viewers in its prime. Not to mention the "radical" fanbase... The legacy it's left behind has inspired many newer shows including "Fringe," "Supernatural," and countless others. An instant classic, brimming with satire and intrigue, and that is why THE X-FILES is the BEST SHOW EVER.

Thanks once again for voting and taking part in the Competition. Hope your doing well, and that your favourite shows are getting through. Comment away and lets see who grinds through today.

  8. No disrespect meant to The X-Files, or any of the other shows that have ever existed...but Supernatural is hands-down the greatest show to EVER grace a television set!! Even at its rare worst, it exceeds today's TV standards by leaps and bounds!! And, as said above, it really does have the BEST character development ever, ever, EVER written or performed EVER. EVER!!! SUPERNATURAL FOR THE WIN!!!!

  9. ahaha I tweeted it to sam and dean winchester, they have like 8000 falowers lol. they just need to retweet it damn it

  10. The X-Files was my first appointment tv show. Unfortunately, it was also my first diappointment tv show too. The X-Files was great for the first few years, but now it is a cautionary tale of what happens when a show is on way past its prime. Even if SPN was not my current appointment show, I still would not be able to vote for The X-Files. It is were all my TV cynicism began. Sure you have answers Chris Carter; sure they are are still out there...somewhere...when you figure it out too.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yeah i see that MOUAHAHAHA!!! lol its the fastes voting ever

    ReplyDelete
  12. Lost really did proves something today, with its whopping almost 2000 votes lead.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Grey's Anatomy, which I know it wasn't a very strong opponent, but still manages to be amongs the final eight. Anyway the real good news is that after the disappointing result against Doctor Who (a little bit more than 700 votes), it manages to recover with over 2300 votes.

    ReplyDelete
  14. This is so a tribute to the late great Kim Manners, who worked on both shows and helped make them great.

SPN for the win hands down!

@Adam D. Harris- thanks for using the video I sent you (this round and last) I just loved them.

  17. I totally agree. I can't handle yet another plug for Lost. Let's get the word out for SPN. It really is a great show and if even one more person hears about it and watches the show, it's a win.

I can't wait to see the battle between Lost and The X-Files!

    ReplyDelete
  27. when i wake up tomorrow this better be 55% for spn

    ReplyDelete
  28. 55% is not good enough. It better be well over 80% No more close races.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Argh! How can the X-Files be winning? If you compare the first 5 seasons of both, SPN wins hands down. Answers people - SPN actually has a mytharc with answers!

    ReplyDelete
  30. It's a safe bet, that it will be 70% for The X-Files.
Keep up making this poll alive and fun Chanelle!

  31. "Day 28: I apologise for no daily update yesterday, but with my travelling back from Belgium and in the drama that was the Smallville vs. The Vampire Diaries battle which I won't comment on too much, I didn't have time to type much out. "

    - Yeah, Smallvile won FAIR AND SQUARE, yet you decide to give the poll another 23 hours so that TVD could catch up?

"The winners from both rounds were The Vampire Diaries and LOST, both of which, come closing time were comfortable winners, Vampire Diaries by around 200 votes, and LOST by a huge 2000 votes."

    - CLOSING TIME MY A**. You gave VAMPIRE DIARIES ANOTHER 23 HOURS TO CATCH UP AFTER SMALLVILLE HAD WON THE POLL.

T"hat sees our first Semi-Final being The Wire vs. The Vampire Diaries, and personally I feel The Wire is more deserving of the Final spot, but it will take something special to stop the Vampire Diaries fans from causing an upset."

    - LMAO IS THIS A JOKE? Vampire Diaries fans having an upset? WHAT ABOUT SMALLVILLE FANS AND THE FACT THAT SMALLVILLE WON FAIR AND SQUARE.

" I feel it will be The Vampire Diaries fans vs. the rest of the TV community, but we shall find out in due course. No disrespect to the show, but I hope that Vampire Diaries doesn't take the crown, as a show so early in it's run shouldn't win in my opinion."

    - Oh boy, is this a joke? It wouldn't have won had you been there to close the poll.. so that no CHEATING WOULD OCCUR.

    - What a joke. Smallville BEAT Vampire Diaries, yet TVD is here.

    ReplyDelete
  32. i dont like u. :P dont laugh now, we got 20 hours to beat ya

    ReplyDelete
  33. Whoever made the video for Supernatural deserves some props! He/She managed to put together the whole feeling of the show and all the elements of each season into one video. Supernatural has changed the way I look at a lot of things and it deserves to win this contest!!! VOTE SUPERNATURAL for the win! Supernatural lovers unite and vote!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I would expect that a majority of the people voting for Supernatural are probably 15 or under and have never seen an episode of The X-Files. Because honestly, there's not really any contest here. The X-Files in it's prime was television at it's absolute finest. I enjoy Supernatural, but it's not even remotely in the same league as XF, which still has a booming fandom over 8 years after the show's final episode. I doubt very much that Supernatural will leave the same mark on the television landscape that XF did. All the modern marks of online fandom such as shipping, e.t.c were born in the XF fandom. Hell, we even INVENTED the word shipping.

Bow down to the true master, Supernatural.

  35. Your devoted Smoking ManJuly 21, 2010 at 2:56 AM

That's a shame you don't like me because i like you.
Those 20 hours will be very painful for SPN ;)

    ReplyDelete
  36. If you think this is unfair, you should have seen the Smallville versus Vampire Diaries poll.. LMAO

    ReplyDelete
  37. were are the 1 500 people who voted for the last supernatural poll damn it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. you know i dont like being moked. and i have no idea if that is a real word... im french heheeh :D

    ReplyDelete
  39. Gimme a break here, we already lost smallville now ur telling me supernatural can't pass x-files?!?!?!?!? GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is Bullshit!!!! I mean i liked x-files to don't get me wrong, but C'MON SPN FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great scripts, great storylines, and dont 4get fantastic freaking acting!!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention their recognized for their memorable lines!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. No respect meant to Supernatural, but the X-Files was and is TV at it's finest. While the last two seasons certainly weren't up to the par of the first 7, the show was a phenomenon and is responsible for so many great shows to follow.

    ReplyDelete
  41. and what people who votes for X-file or 40 and over... I know a lot of people who are young and have watch the x-file, its just not that amazing. its good but thats it.

    ReplyDelete
  42. so true, i love that we dont wait more then 1 or 2 season for every thing.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm french ne veut pas nécessairement dire francaise. Je suis de Québec. bonne nuit ;)

    ReplyDelete
  44. im joking, You my enemy on this poll lol. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  45. oh my yes, Jensen ackles is so frenken good haaha.

    ReplyDelete
  46. it's not fair making those kinds of comparaison since Spn is stuck on the CW which NEVER do ANY promo for Spn. It's all about the stupids vampires or making promo for teens with teens shows like OTH or GG. The CW hated Spn and they're not afraid to show it. But still, the show is having a big fandom, with a real story, real action...all around the family theme. And the CW is a very small channel

With everything around the CW, especially when you're not a teen show on a teens channels, it's great Supernatural keep going. it,s cause it's a great show standing on his own.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Older shows had bigger effect on people not because it was amazing but because at the time it was great. like the old superman movie, they arent that impressive now. I watch X-files and yes i enjoyed it but not THAT much. more people know about that show then people who actualy watched it.
truth is, if The X-files would have start 5 years ago it wouldnt have been such a good show. and supernatural is more then just a show about hunting ghost and demons witch is why i love it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I thought you were canadian.
And I AM french by the way. See you later because it's four in the morning in France and i need some sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I agree, although I love Supernatural and think that it is a great show. This poll pains me! Because, although compared to the X-Files I don't think it can really compare, I think it is a much better show than Vampire Diaries or Grey's Anatomy etc. And even better than Lost I think...wait, no no it's on par with Lost...well, no, actually, I do enjoy SPN more than Lost.
The X-Files had it's faults, true, but it really did revolutionize TV and inspire so many shows...and it was well written and smart (OK, the mythology...is only one aspect!).
    I hope it wins actually...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Agreed. Love both shows but my vote goes to XF.

    ReplyDelete
  51. oh men actually i wouldnt mind losing to x-files but the fact that VD made it further then supernatural without them fighting makes me want to scream.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I"m 28 and I grew up watching the show with my Dad. The show revolutionized television and it's a show that still stands out today. I actually have rewatched the Series at least 2 to 3x and it is still incredible. Taking nothing away from SN, but the X-Files is king.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Oh wow, I just watched that Supernatural video. So intense lol

    ReplyDelete
  54. One word: Twilight

Be patient...when Twilight will die, VD will die too. Period.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Supernatural for the win...I only saw a couple episodes of The X Files but never could get into it despite that it was and still is popular after the series finale, and hearing that it was a great show.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Even with it's last two seasons disappointing many fans...I still think the x-Files holds up too well today to vote against it. From the characters to the mythology...to the things it opened the doors for, X-Files still stands out.

Bottom line, X-Files should be the show that goes on to face Lost.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Thank you for pointing it out. The X-Files invented the word shipping...people seem to forget that.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I said the 40 and over thing just cause X-Phile said SPN was watch by people under 15 and i thought that was garbage lol. I'm 17 and i did watch 5 season of x file. And the show did have a big impact but its only cause it got out in the 90's. shows after 2002-2005 need to be freeken amazing to stand out now that the technologie is crazy.
and i need to say that im being hard on the x file cause im really crazy about supernatural. ask me tomorrow and ill probably think its a better show then right now lol. on the emotional side though SPN is beating Xfile hands down.

    ReplyDelete
  59. hum, love the way you said that.
Spn wont win but a least they will lose to x file lol.

    ReplyDelete
  60. thw thing is, i really like VD, but i hate people who watch it because they are hooked on twilight. And PEOPLE WHO SAY ITS A COPY OF TWILIGHT WHEN THE BOOKS WAS WRITEN BEFORE IT. sorry i really hate it lol. but yeah i give it 3 seasons, show like this for teenager last max 3 are 4 season lol

    ReplyDelete
  61. That was me!!! Thank you so so much :) I'm posting a vid that links to this poll so hopefully it'll help raise the numbers for the best show ever! Um... which is SPN by the way ;)

    ReplyDelete
  62. YEAH!!! your the best aahahah. It will help for sure

    ReplyDelete
  63. You saw the things some Twilight fans are doing? Like bitting each other to the blood for real (I'm not kidding, I can send you the video if you want)....or getting real fangs...or getting in depression cause their husband (like full grown woman...not only 15 years old girl) is not like Edward....it's totally insane.

I hate vampires...and Vampire craps wouldn't exist without Twilight.....and now the vampires ''crazyness'' is messing with everything -__-''

    ReplyDelete
  64. lol yeah, i went on youtube and saw that lol. Amazing job again. I slowly watching all your vid and going crazy ahaha (im the one who ask u if you were a guy or girl hahah). ps: slowly cause im watching them like 10 times each lol

    ReplyDelete
  65. shipping is when you take the form of somebody else??? (french here need help) thank u

    ReplyDelete
  66. oh men i know!!! And you know i'm 17 and yes i read the twilight book and i went to see it at midnight and im crazy about it. but there is crazy and then there is you are so insane that i now hate this serie thank you asSBUTT (love castiel lol) i live with my grand parent and my grand ma asked me if it was good cause she wanted to read it and i was like NO PLEASE! its sick. lol im was a vampire fan before twilight cause of buffy but i really cant take it anymore. and like people are saying its a great book come on. okay i could take about this for hours lol. its not for nothing that they keep on make the movies back to back, they know it sucks and its a fase so they need to feed the fans so that we wont stop are crazynes...
Hell even true blood is enoying me now, twilight for grown up lol. OMG! okay taking deep breath to calm down..

woo. i feel so much better LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  67. No SPN fan will come together and join force with X-Files to beat VD.

    ReplyDelete
  68. ^^' it's weird seeing people being rational in this poll and this poll only......even if I prefer SPn, I have to admit that X-Files had a great impact in futur shows...I'm able to be rational too and say I won't be angry to see Spn losing to a great show (since they're both great)

but....come on, who voted the vampires in front of the Simpsons? The vampires will also beat X-Files later and lost too just cause of the Twilight mania...this is stupid

    ReplyDelete
  69. wow... i said "maden" haha

    ReplyDelete
  70. Actually I maden the vid! I'm so flattered that you guys used it for this forum! SPN obviously gets my vote, without a single ounce of a doubt! :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. Shipping/ Shippers, c'est quand on parle d'un couple qui n'en est pas un, d'un couple que l'on aimerait voir s'officialiser à l'écran. En gros, X-Files a inventé la tension sexuelle sous-entendue.

Well, for me anyway, it's XF. SPN is great, even with it's first boring season, but there's too many XF episodes that I could'nt live without. EL CHUPACABRAAAAA.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yes, while Twilight has spawned some seriously, and I mean SERIOUSLY, crazy fans. I think people's hatred of them has spawned some seriously crazy haters and that's not any better in my opinion. And I wouldn't let any crazy fan or hater take away my enjoyment of a vampire book or series. Though I must say that the VD books and series are better because there is witches and werwolves and all this history in the town.

    ReplyDelete
  73. ho wow i was far on that one hahaha. I dont see how the show started that but hey okay lol. :D

    ReplyDelete
  74. ^^' Me I like truth vampires...but Twilight is not real vampires...they,re all nice in those stupid movies....Now every teens will think that vampire are people who live to be wonderful and gentle with humans and shine under the sun....it's stupid and it'S destorying the real image of vampires.

People are voting for X-Files cause of the impact it had on futur shows...I can understand that. But why people voted for vampires against The simpsons? Cause the vampires (with their ONE AND ONLY season) had such a great impact? A lot more than the Simpsons?????...It's STUPID

    ReplyDelete
  75. I hate crazy fan, not the actual books. :D
and YEAH! VD better then twilight mouhahah. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  76. Sorry, I'm a huge SPN fan (seriously, I make music vids for the show in my spare time!), but I'm going to have to say X-Files. It was the original SPN basically, without it, the other probably wouldn't have the same feeling to it as a lot of the workers moved to SPN. I love both a lot though!

    ReplyDelete
  77. its fun loving it and is fun hating it lol

    ReplyDelete
  78. Well, Mulder/Scully's relationship was really tense during many seasons, and since it was a phenomenon at this time, everybody wanted to know when they'll have sexy intercourses together.

Hem, i'm too drunk. Going to bed now, knowing XF will win.

    ReplyDelete
  79. the show spn is based on the old sacry movie. :D
hey are your vid on youtube? i'd like to watch them if you dont mind lol

    ReplyDelete
  80. All I can say is, gather 'round this anger and get all the Smallville fans to vote for Supernatural :)

    ReplyDelete
  81. Are you trying to say that it's okay for teen to bite each other to the blood? And it's okay for Twilight to destroy the real image of vampires? And it's okay for the teens to get real fangs and it's okay for 30-40 years old woman to get in depression cause they're not maried to Edward? and it's okay for people to become crazy angry everytime you dare say something rational against the books or the movies?

    ReplyDelete
  82. LOL! im not sure it will get crushed... its kinda old vs new phenomenon lol.

    ReplyDelete
  83. but you don't see my point....the simpsons is just an exemple......but every shows that lose against the vampires it's really stupid. How can an one year show be the best show ever? Now people are saying Spn can,t win cause it will be forgetten after it finish......who say the vampires mania won't die with Twilight? I'm sure it will

    ReplyDelete
  84. ahahah, yeah i know about the mulder/scully thing but im impressed that people never wanted two caracter to get together before them..

    ReplyDelete
  85. I can't wait to see The X-Files get crushed by Lost!

    ReplyDelete
  86. i dont think that this site has a lot of simpsons fans on it... thats all.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Lol. Yes, I'm not a fan of the crazy fans. But I don't care too much about them either. As long as I don't have to be around them for too long. That's why I wait a few weeks before going to see any of the Twilight movies in theaters. I don't have to hear any squeeling for no good reason. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  88. oh im sure too. but what can we do lol. but i know they wont win. they will make it to the finale max.

    ReplyDelete
  89. lol. For me its the only time i like crazy fan. I love going to the midnight showing of twilight and harry potter cause every body is laughing and we are all like "your crazy, im crazy, lets be friends" lol. but yeah the "aaaaaahhh" hes hot is getting on my nerve a little lol.

    ReplyDelete
  90. no she said she didn,t like those fan.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Sure! My youtube is: youtube.com/gentlesideoffury3

    ReplyDelete
  92. But by saying she hates the ''haters''......well the majority of the haters (ok I know there's some who just hate for hating someting, but it's really NOT the majority) are just people who are tired of all those crazy things that'S happening. So if she hates the haters, it's like saying she doesn't agree that everything happening is crazy

    ReplyDelete
  93. thanks lol. you'll here from me in 5 min lol.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Ok, as someone who realizes the importance of the X-Files, and the brilliance of Supernatural (I mean I DID write both of the fan reviews *cough*) I voted for Supernatural. The X-Files obviously paved the way for Supernatural, and became a gigantic phenomenon, etc. etc. However, it also faltered, jumped the shark, and devolved into drivel in the last few seasons. I find that Supernatural is more true to its mythos, and is more driven by the characters and storyline. I think The X-files started with a brilliant premise and got to come up with all sorts of insane monsters, and weave a web of intrigue: but like other shows, it didn't know where it was going. Supernatural has been almost perfectly laid out (first season: introduction, mainly MOTW, second season: killing Azazel and ending the primary chapter of the story. Season 3: the bridge between Azazel and Lucifer: Lilith. Season 4: the addition of angels. Season 5: the climax of the mytharc--getting rid of Lucifer, and Sam+Dean making their choice amongst apocalypse. Season 6: the origins of evil creatures of the world, and the descent of earth into chaos.) The story just has become so intricate and strong. It honestly easily stands up against The X-Files, Buffy, any other supernatural television show. The acting has grown tremendously, and I've never cared so much about characters within a television show. This show has changed the way I see television now: it's not about who's watching the show the most, it's about the story being told, and I believe that X-Files was lost to it's own clamor and diminished. Supernatural, in its small slot on the horrid CW has held out for years, and continues to do so with style, sarcasm, and wit. Another thing, Kim Manners worked on both of these shows, and honestly I find that he was an amazing addition to Supernatural's amazing team of writers/directors/producers that I feel will eventually take Supernatural to a place not even The X-Files went to.

  95. I have watched all seasons of both shows, and while I respect the impact X-Files has had on television, it did have two God awful seasons, had quite a few poor episodes even in the good seasons and didn't have any real payoff for the nine years it took building the mytharc.

Supernatural hasn't had these problems so far imo, certainly not to the same extent.

I voted Supernatural on Best show, though I would vote X-Files on a "most influentual" poll.

  96. Wilson : [(I mean I DID write both of the fan reviews *coough*] LMAO ahahaha

    and for the rest.
    BRAVO!!! well said. :D
omg i really care about the show. im a fan of a lot of things but i ont think i have ever cared so much about the caracters. mainly cause my life as some similarities with the brother, ya know killing evil shit and all ;)

    ReplyDelete
  97. Yep, X-Files invented it. Supernatural is busy perfecting it.

  98. I kinda hate the haters to. you know when you go on youtube to watch vids and then there are people commenting that its a bad show are whant ever, well they are freken enoying. but i see what you mean. i was just trying to stick to a friendly conversation lol. i feel you heating up XD

    ReplyDelete
  99. ^^' not at all....I just find it weird someone saying ''I think some fans are crazy'' in the same sentence than ''People who want crazy things to stop are crazy themself and I hate them''

It's like ''ookk....can you make up your mind???''

Like I told you there's haters who just want to hate, but it's NOT the majority

    ReplyDelete
  100. yeah sure. im the queen of not making up my mind though. as i said, im a lover, a hater, and i dont like the haters not the crazy lovers.... im tired of vampire but i do watch and read a lot about it ahahah.
need to get out more i tink

    ReplyDelete
  101. Oh boy, looks like Supernatural is in trouble against its predecessor. I would be really suprised if the X-files wins but hey, this competition has been full of suprises so far (bye bye points). The Supernatural video is awesome. :D Anybody excited for Sunday and the Supernatural panel at Comic con? ;D

    ReplyDelete
  102. Actually, I didn't say that at all. I'm not sure where that came from. I agree that Twilight fans can be really crazy, and I don't like it. I think it's unhealthy to be like, that obsessed with something. But some haters (not all) can be pretty mean and over zealous in their hate as well. They'll go online and try and harrass all the twilight fans, and try to shove their hatred of it down everyone's throats. I've seen some of these haters in action, and I don't think people should do that either. Just because I see some Twilight fan acting all crazy, doesn't mean I'm going to harass her for it. Live and let live. Also, I don't hate the haters either. I don't hate anyone.

And as for destroying the real image of vampires, considering everyone's allowed to be creative in their own way, I'm not going to hate on Stephenie Meyer for doing her own thing with the vampire mythology (though I will admit there are things about the vampires I wasn't fond of. For example: SPARKLING IN THE SUN! That definitely bugged me for awhile) There's no rule that says Stephenie should be punished for doing her own spin on vampires. Whether you love it or hate it, it's her right to tell a story how she wants to tell it.

  103. are you going to comic con?
im gonna wait for it to be on youtube :(. NEXT YEAR im going. if the show is still on lol

    ReplyDelete
  104. The worst season of "The X-Files" is still better than the best season of "Supernatural." Pure and simple. "Supernatural" doesn't hold a candle to "The X-Files."

    ReplyDelete
  105. fuck i said i liked this but NO lol. sorry need to make this clear
Hum... i respect it if you say you think x file is a better show but the worst season of x file su** hard. wrong. even die hard fan wouldnt agree with that

    ReplyDelete
  108. well im not going so im not lucky lol. i hope they will do a vancouver convention next year and misha will come, that will make me super happy. and they always make it the same week as my birthday :)

    ReplyDelete
  110. ;p if you're going to Vancouver 2011 you're still very lucky cause I'll have to wait another year before my 2nd Spn convention

I'll try to look less stupid^^' If you have ever watch the Chicago '09 con videos on youtube, the French person with an awful accent talking to Misha...that was me ^^''

    ReplyDelete
  111. Actually, I'm sure some die hard fans would agree with that as well. "Supernatural" at its best is not as good as "The X-Files" at its worst. It's an opinion, whether you like it or not. That's all there is to it. You're obviously entitled to your opinion as well regarding both TV series.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Lol if you say im canadian it pisses me of but I am alowed to call myself that LOL. why would you forgive me... T'es tu quebecoise????
i think quebec hate ontario but the others are fine lol

    ReplyDelete
    -Were did you come from?
    -Quebec
    -....where??
    -It's in Canada
    -.....where?
    -...-__-' the country above yours

    ReplyDelete
  114. Oh yeah some would agree. I'm just saying that this si so far from the truth that some crazy x file fan would denie it. and by the way, there is a limit to an opinion. for exemple I can say Twilight is the best movie ever made and say its an opinion shut up but its not true... You can actually judge those things its not only based on personal tast like prefering apple to bananas... okay its 2am sorry for my choice of exemple...
plus if you really believe that you have not watch the show. cause you cant watch something worst the the worst x file season for 5 years sorry

    ReplyDelete
  115. and im not mad. im saying this super calm... okay. i come across a little strong sometime sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I could just as easily say that only a crazy "Supernatural" fan wouldn't agree with that. I could also say that if you truly believe what you say, then you've not watched "The X-Files" or "Supernatural." You see, it can go both ways. The whole point is that it's an opinion. Are we not allowed to say that the worst season of any TV series is not better than the best season of another TV series? I'm sure you could come up with examples based on your own opinions and tastes. Does that mean you're crazy and you haven't actually watched those particular TV series? You can't hold different standards.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  119. so you watched it or not?... And by the way i did watch x files.
and i respect your opinion does this mean we cant have a discution about it? i like hearing what other people say and sometime it makes me rethink my own opinion. 5 hours ago i was a x file hater cause i wanted spn to and then i remember that its not a bad show and that i liked watching it lol.
You can not like supernatural okay. but what you said wasnt about your personnal taste you said it like a fact
and i quote : "The worst season of "The X-Files" is still better than the best season of "Supernatural." Pure and simple."
so yeah i can debate that this is not a true fact. do you agree that if i said Lost was a bad show people could disagree. not liking something doesnt make it bad.
wow i feel like my grand ma when i say the food is discusting lol

  121. When did I ever say we can't have a discussion about this? Also, when did I ever say that what I felt about "The X-Files" being superior to "Supernatural" is a fact? I already said that it's an opinion. Hell, I've stated that numerous times now. When did I ever say an opinion is a fact? And yes, I've watched "Supernatural." I wouldn't say what I said unless I've actually seen it. I'm sorry, but I just don't feel "Supernatural" is anywhere near as good as "The X-Files." And, once again, I'd just like to reiterate that it's an opinion. No opinion is a fact.

that didn't feel like an opinion to me but i do understand its how you meant it ;).
good im happy you watched it cause i really hate the hater who doesnt at least watch a couple of episodes. i feel like the x file was a little more guy friendly too, less crying LOL.

ill have to watch the last 2 season of x files to see how much it hurts my crazy spn fan feelings lol.

  125. kk jarrive. mon nom c chanelle montpetit lol subtile je sais

    ReplyDelete
  126. While I trust all the viewers and critics that say the last few seasons of The X-Files disappointed compared to the first, as a young person who has only started watching X-Files episodes recently, but has been a fan of later crime fighting/criminal investigation shows of the past decade or so, including La Femme Nikita, Alias, Chuck, Fringe, Bones, and a bit of Supernatural, I am amazed at how so many plot and character and thematic and stylistic choices in those shows all deviate from The X-Files, even the later seasons. Several times I watched an X-Files ep, and I was like, omg, they had that exact same plot over an entire season or so of one of these later shows that they conveyed very convincingly in a single hour of the X-Files. So maybe it didn't finish as strongly as Lost finished, but without it Lost and all of those other shows probably wouldn't have happened.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Haha, alright. I don't hate "Supernatural," so, I apologize if it came across that way. I just think "The X-Files" is far superior. :) If it makes you feel any better, I would vote for "Supernatural" over several of the TV series in this competition, including "Lost."

    ReplyDelete
  128. Isn't he?!?!? He's awasome, and i dont like that video that was posted, i'm gonna see if i can find another to show the show's action, and kick ass characters!! That video isn't really doing the show justice! i have no idea how im gonna post it on here, but i'll figure it out. it's pissing me off that, x-files is winning right now, and i'm not gonna get over that smallville lose....sigh!! (TRYING TO SHAKE IT OFF) O btw...i love that I "know someone" who is french, I think the language is beautiful, i really wanna learn it, My mom speaks french and I used to nag her to speak it to me, when I was growing up, hahaha. I sooo wanna visit Paris, that's on my bucket list. lol

    ReplyDelete
  129. yeah that does make me feel better hahaha. i thought you meant that supernatural was sooo bad that even x files bad seasons was better.. I can exept the other one more hahaa. OH its 2:22 make a wish
    sorry lol.

    ReplyDelete
  130. You sound very young, and as someone who's only just past my teenage years, I think I understand what you're saying. Old shows and movies really aren't as impressive now because we are like, yeah, that's great that you figured out how to add sound, but we figured out how to add crazy special affects!

However, this contest is about fans' pick of the best show ever, and Supernatural would not have been so amazing without The X-Files, because X-Files showed how to weave sci-fi/fantasy elements into actual strong storytelling and amazing characters, which is what Supernatural is all about.

    ReplyDelete
  131. This is fun ahah! But i need to sleep! job interview tomorow.. ha well, it mcdo.. guess it doesnt really mater LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  135. well, since Supernatural is a watered down X-files for girls, I guess this one is pretty obvious...

    ReplyDelete
  136. I know it's just the quarter final but i'd like to thank Adam and his friends for conducting this tournament.
It gives us the readers the opportunity to analyse, debate, made their point, scream sometimes.
This poll is not flawless but looks at the comments : when you had earlier 10 or 20 comments you have now several hundreds. It's alive !
I'm amazed by the good spirit of the commenters; in every other site, you read people insulting other people. Not here, and i can tell you it's very pleasant.
(Sorry for the bad english but i hope you got the general meaning of this post)

    ReplyDelete
  137. X-Files...my first true love.
Will follow this to the end :)

    ReplyDelete
  138. Hey Adam - off topic here:
Are you gonna make a poll to decide the 3rd place winner?
I mean the loser of The Wire/TVD Competition vs. the loser of Lost/SPN or X-Files

    ReplyDelete
  139. Or even better, let's vote The Wire tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  140. I was thinking maybe putting just a small poll at the bottom of the final. It won't be a full post or anything though, if I do it.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Well, even if The X-Files really was the first show of this kind and the theme music used to freak me out when I was a kid, now after rewatching some episodes I have to admit, it's nothing compared to Supernatural. The kind of atmosphere SPN creates is very unique. The characters are unbelievably complete, yet complicated, the chemistry between them is sth special on tv these days.

    ReplyDelete
  142. WOW who did this poll? 1st) How did MASH lose NCIS? Mash is one the best shows ever filmed, PERIOD. 2nd) Who voted against Band of Brothers and Scrubs for Housewives? im just dumbfounded, cause BoB actually won awards for being good. 3rd) Buffy LOST!!! What is going on with people today. Still an amazing show. 4th) LOTS lost to freaking Fringe?!?!?!? Seeker has to the best show on tv since, since... i cant remember a show this good. GOD whoever responded needs to actually watch those quality shows before the vote against. btw, im not a troll, i voted for my shows, i've seen nearly all the listed shows, Voted for the ones that deserve it , like BoB, LOTS, and BtVS. this is just sad.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I has already been said but a ongoing show has a big advantage upon a past show : see The Vampire Diaries or Supernatural.
The fan-base is still active and can react very quickly, especially with Twitter (i'm too old for that).
That's why The X-Files performance is remarquable.
The mix of "old" and "young" tv viewers in this site is a great asset; different point of views can emerge.
Keep up the good work, with other polls for example!

    ReplyDelete
  144. I think i posted this poll everywhere do get more votes for Supernatural lol
    Hopefully that will work :)
And just to be clear i like X-Files, i'm a fan but i just think Supernatural is underrated in many ways :)

    ReplyDelete
  145. You've obviously not seen the best season of Supernatural. Or the worst of The X-files.

    ReplyDelete
  146. WOW. That's just plain ignorant. The stuff that happens on that show is no where near aimed at the girls, and it's definitely not watered-down. When's the last time Scully went to hell and burned for 40 years? And when's the last time the X-files plot made sense? Oh yeah, around season 4-5...And if you say it's for girls because of those two brothers that seem to be eyecandy for the little teen girls: what do you think David Duchovny was? Mulder was the eyecandy for the girls, and Scully was the intelligent strong female archetype developed for the girls.

    ReplyDelete
  147. *cough* The Vampire Diaries is going to the semifinals--I don't think this is 100% the best show ever really, just what the people voted for...so you and I are gonna have to get over that... :(

    ReplyDelete
  148. there is only one question that matters:
is there a relatively huge amount of girls betweeen the age of 16-24 among Supernatural fans, or aren't there?
okay, maybe there is an other one:
do these fans fail to mention at least once when they talk about the show that "omg, those guys are so sweet, and their car is sexy too!!! XD XD XD (L)(L)(L)"?

    ReplyDelete
  149. Now this poll in Top 3 Most Voted.
Russia and Ukraine vote for SPN! Best russian fan-sites posted link for this poll. And here we are. I hope we will win this poll. Come on boys and girls, we will do it.

P.S. Oh, and I love you SPN fans from all the world.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Learn to read. No one is saying that people never wanted two characters together before Mulder and Scully, we're saying that the XF fandom INVENTED THE WORD 'SHIPPING'. It was first used in 95/96 back on the XF Usenet groups. The X-Files was basically one of the very first internet fandoms, the show aired at the same time that the internet was growing in popularity amongst the everyday home user. Therefore a lot of the online fandom terms that are so commonplace now originate from the XF fandom.

    ReplyDelete
  151. In your opinion. As I said, I do watch and like Supernatural, but IN MY OPINION it's not even comparable to The X-Files. I don't even think it's the best 'good vs evil, demon, evil', e.t.c themed show, that goes to the first two seasons of Chris Carter's largely forgotten masterpiece, 'Millennium' that aired from 1996-1999.

    ReplyDelete
  152. And the above was supposed to be in response to Wilson Crawford, not myself. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  153. I totally agree about the advantage that the current shows have. This poll is a show that is still currently on air and has a thriving fanbase vs a show that ended over 8 years ago, but still seemingly has a strong enough fanbase to ensure their show not only stands up to the barrage but is actually winning. That's pretty amazing, and is a perfect example of the legacy that XF has left behind it. It has an incredibly devoted fanbase, it makes me proud. :)

    ReplyDelete
  154. Yeah, this is already the 2nd-most voted-on poll in the entire competition...and we have around 8 more hours for voting. Whoever wins, I'd say the loser is still amazingly ahead of the others in this competition: the only other show that has this many votes so far is Lost--and that was expected. I'm proud of both Supernatural with its underrated superfans (I mean almost 30 million people watched The X-Files, the most Supernatural has EVER had was 6 million...) and the crowd from the X-Files still seems to be around after several years to stick up for its show. I'd say that number of votes is really important vs. other polls and that next time we should find a way to weigh shows on their votings for future polls, or show recognition for that in some way. I mean, one of these shows out-voted several winners of the past few rounds all by that respective show's self.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Well, the way you state it makes it seem like an ADHD way of going about the show. I like that questions, mysteries, twists are either played out or explained or fleshed out in a timely manner, rather than being weird or twisty for the sake of being weird or twisty. The twists, the subplots, the questions all add to something preplanned and calculated for future expansion of the storyline. It doesn't aimlessly change, twist, etc. just for the sake of it. There's a definite payoff to watching and waiting in Supernatural, which is not something I can say about too many other shows...

    ReplyDelete
  156. I'm not saying that there isn't a teen girl percentage of the fanbase that you describe. I'm saying that the show hardly caters to them. In fact, there have been several meta-references from Kripke into the show itself spoofing these types of shallow viewers that aren't looking past the pretty boys and their car. He even went on to get Dean to verbally dis them in the show's context itself. The writers of Supernatural are more focused on how they can reinvent the show every year to add another layer to the storyline that will thicken the plot and add new dimensions to the brothers' relationships and the things they hunt.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Well, I understand that's your opinion. I was just stating my opinion.
Am I not allowed to state my opinion?

    ReplyDelete
  158. Exactly: I prefer Supernatural, but easily the most influential show in this competition is the X-files. I give it the props it deserves, but I still think Supernatural is in better standing at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Yeah, there's been some strong words said but only against opposing shows, it hasn't become personal yet..(Well, some might argue the Smallville vs. The Vampire Diaries was an exception to this...) and it's brought out ALOT of voters, commentors, and viewers of the site. Wonderfully played, Spoilertv.

    ReplyDelete
  160. My my, touchy aren't we? I don't recall saying anywhere that you weren't allowed to state your opinion, please don't put words in people's mouths. You responded to my comment, and I responded to yours. It's as simple as that. Peace out. :)

    ReplyDelete
  161. AKKKKKKKKKKKKKK It is Sophie's Choice to me!!!! Who made this poll???!!!!???!!!

    ReplyDelete
  162. This is gonna be the most voted poll of the whole competition.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Sam and Deans relationship is much more heartfelt. It truly is about the brothers.

    ReplyDelete
  164. As 100% true your statement is--I agree so much with it, but there's one aspect that gets me: the storylines of some shows that go for an arc are relayed in the X-Files in one episode. Sure, that's nice and all, but I prefer things to be fleshed out, and not just glanced at. I like the way these shows have taken these things and turned them into even better richer ideas for storylines.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Yep. It officially just became the most-voted on poll. Wild...And now it's 50% to 50%... This is kinda intense, no?

    ReplyDelete
  166. Sophie's Choice? Like...the book?
    lol

    ReplyDelete
  167. "My My, touchy aren't we?" Not really. But you made it a point (in caps lock no less) to remind me that you have an opinion while repeating it for me while I've already read said opinion. I just thought that was strange.

  169. Is there some sort of universal law now that there has to be some sort of conversation about Twilight in every post of this competition even though it has nothing to do with the poll? The overexposure of that franchise is so annoying, even when it's about hating on it. It's better just to not talk about it lol

    ReplyDelete

  171. I was just continuing the trend of assuming things arrogantly before I know the result of a prerequisite event.

    ReplyDelete
  172. I agree in that respect. The show X-Files was about the adventures of the characters, the show Supernatural is about the characters before the adventures. Not saying that either one is better than the other in their storytelling in that way, but I just prefer the more character-driven route. Not to say X-Files didn't have character development, that would just be wrong--it was just in a different way.

  173. yes they are hot that doesn,'t mean the show is for girls... A LOT of people fallowed the X-files only because of the sexsual tension between Mulder and sculy, id say that was for girls too, doesn't mean it was for girl either.

and on an other note; OMG! when i went to but x file was 300 votes a head now its 50 50!!! MY EVIL PLAN WORK IN YOUR FACE SMOKIN MEN

  174. oh an as a girl I can tell you that they are not using the actors like if it was a show for girl. if they did we would be seeing a lot of naked torso wich happened like once in 5 years. And they did not cast them for their looks, it seems like the only one who saw they were hot in the crew is sara gamble lol (i watch commentaries)

  177. yes i am young, 17. But unlike many teenage people i love old show and i watch them so please dont use that against me there is nothing more anoying. I ealise the impact of x-file, but it still had his impact because of the time that it went on the air. With no x-file an other would have made this impact, its not like they invented something no body ever thought about or wrote about.
but you i give credit to x file, its a great show that went on a little to long but i woulnd t care about that if i was watching at the time (1 year old lol) BUT i prefere supernatural and the relashonship between the brothers and i conect more wwith the caracters.
