Fan Review: HP108
LOST is a show that revolutionized network television and the internet. The series explored themes and storylines that most shows were afraid to explore and created a buffet of mysteries that kept that show interesting for six seasons. LOST is a show that will be remembered for its clever twists and complex characters, with both great heroes and villains, for having a roller coaster run and for proving that not all the best shows are on cable television. LOST is an amazing show with perhaps the most controversial series finale ever.

I'm guessing the loser of this round will be given a 23 hour advantage since you won't be here to close the round?
ReplyDeleteSMALLVILLE WON THE ROUND AGAINST TVD, FAIR AND SQUARE. Please make it right.
I don't think we'll have to worry this time cause there no vampires involve this time.....it's the vampires crazyness
ReplyDeleteStop bitching. What if he hadn't extended it and just said "ok Vampire Diaries Wins because that's what it is when I closed it?"
ReplyDeleteYou and the others are gettin' on my nerves. Get more people to vote for Smallville or just go away, because you are more of a nuisance than a damn show getting into the semi-finals on a vampire vote.
And as for this vampire "crazyness" all I see is a bunch of psycho Smallville fans. And I'm saying this as someone who's watched the damn show since season 1 almost 10 years ago.
I hate this "most controversial series finale ever" crap. It's just polarizing between fans, and mediocre. More controversy was shown for the "it was all a dream" from previous shows...
ReplyDelete^^' I've NEVER watch Smallville or Vampires Crap, but I have enough of the crazyness of the twilights fans who voted for the vampires shows just cause they think vampires are hot
ReplyDeleteI'm not one of them but I happen to know quite a few people who like The Vampire Diaries for something besides vampires. Some people like the plot. Some people like the flashbacks. Some people just think Ian Sommerhalder is hot, whether he plays a vampire or not. Not any different from any of the Smallville posts I've seen around saying Watch Smallville because Tom Welling is hot. Personally, I don't like TVD because they ruined L. J. Smith's vastly superior books. Not everyone is voting just to tick off the anti-vampire movement.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you share the same perspective of witnessing a handful of "psycho Smallville fans". Also for the record, I too have been watching since well, not the beginning, but '03.
ReplyDeleteWell, I think that just the fact that you're talking about here shows that it's absolutely true. "Controversial" is not a matter of opinion, it's a state of disgruntlement centered around something, you're a part of that, and now I am too. ;) It really has nothing to do with the show itself and it's "twist", it's just a measurement of how wide the ripples made by the thing have gone--and, clearly as your'e beginning a conversation about it where hitherto there was none on a random poll in a site in which Lost is only one of hundreds of topics available...the ripples have reached quite far.
ReplyDeleteI am fully aware of what controversy is. And I also don't believe that the Lost finale was really THAT controversial. It was cried over, and then it was finished. There were lots of Losties that started some controversy, some non-Losties that started their own, but there was absolutely not enough controversy to claim it's the most controversial finale ever! If you're arguing that aspect then you're just wrong--That would go to the Bob Newhart show, or St. Elsewhere, etc. Those controversies were legendary and completely all-encompasing in their time. Even with extended blog posts, articles on the net, etc. Lost's finale's controversy didn't have that same impact, at least not to that degree.
ReplyDeleteYeah, by no means do I think the Lost finale was THAT controversial.... I mean, compared to the Soprano's ending even. But I mean, whatever, just a fan review ;)
ReplyDeleteI voted for Lost, even though it was overrated (esp. near the end) and over complicated. It was still compelling and had great, complex characters-- even compared to a completely character-driven drama like Grey's Anatomy-- with a great mystery-thriller-supernatural element.
Yeah it is just a fan review, but it just irks me. However I'm surprised Lost doesn't just take off with votes anymore. Grey's is keeping up at the moment...
ReplyDeleteLost ftw!!!
ReplyDeleteNooo, no no no no!! Lost does not deserve to win!
ReplyDeleteomg people. shut up. with the vampire crap. and Kat you said u never watch smallville or vp...So dont talk about it like you know what its about. im all for small wining but vp is a good show and vamps are hot lets face it lol! and this conteste is just for fun and to see what show we might like to watch,
ReplyDeleteU r breakin my fun :( and its 4 am lol
what the heck happened in the season final of lost? can someone tell me i cant watch it anymore. wanna know lol. i saw half of last season.
ReplyDeleteSurprised Lost isn't leading with more votes....
ReplyDeleteGod, these shows should not be competing against each other, they are both great and should be in the final voting!
ReplyDeletethis site just became awful
ReplyDeletehow can you put these great shows compete each other?
WTF is that suppose to mean?
ReplyDeleteThis is a goddamn Competition, so it's obviously that great shows are going to fight each other. Both shows has reached the Final Eight, and that's already a great honor, only one of them will be amongs the Final Four.
@ Adam D. Harris
ReplyDeleteYou've forgotten to put the R3 result in Lost's summary.
Lindsey Lohan just called. She wants her "victim" status back.
ReplyDeleteIf Lost doesn't win this round, I'll die a little inside.
ReplyDeleteIt has a 920 votes lead, I don't think Grey's has the slightest chance to recover from that.
ReplyDeleteVOTE GREEEEEEEEEEEEY'S PEOPLE --'
ReplyDeletethanks lol
ReplyDeleteGrey's fans, where are you????
ReplyDeleteLOST is leaps and bounds better than Grey's. Though, the amazing LOST finale may be influencing my judgment. A LOTTTT.
ReplyDeleteCome on guys, Lost is not the best show ever made, I am not a GA fan either, but the BEST show ever? That's just not Lost, sorry.
ReplyDeleteIsn't this poll supposed to be closed? not like it affects the winner, but some people are going crazy over the "time constituents" lol
ReplyDeleteT'is closing at 1. We gave Smallville vs. Vampire Diaries another 23 hours. This one gets the customary 24!
ReplyDeleteHaha I knew it. The plan worked.
ReplyDeleteSmallville won on the day it was supposed to, but no, 23 hours extra because the creator "wasn't there" to close the poll. Vampire Diaries wins by cheating.
Best show ever? Yeah right.
What is so absolutely amazing about Lost is the fact that it doesn't tell one story. It's universe is vast, expansive, and tells the stories of many unique people from all over the world and how their lives intersect at the crossroads of their destinies. It pushed non-linear storytelling to its limits with a variety of tools that kept the show fresh and created a narrative unparalleled on television. The ending, regardless of what anyone says, is just one piece of the overall mosaic, and is (to me at least) no more or less important than any moment in the show. As a Lost fan, I may be biased in my opinions here, but I've never seen a show that accomplished so much without sacrificing neither its characters nor its plot.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Back. How clever you are that you foiled my master plan. Nothing pleases me more than a One Season old Show Winning the Best Show Ever Quarter Final....
ReplyDeleteClassic! I think I adore you.
ReplyDelete"the universe is vast". That is exactly my problem with Lost. It was one unending question piled on top of all the other unending questions. I hate when producers et al keep yanking your chain by saying someday everything will make sense as long as you hang in there...for 5 freaking years. I don't have that kind of patience.
ReplyDeleteIn that respect I totally understand your meaning, it's probably not THE most controversial ever, I don't really care that much either way in that regard. But I definitely think that the response it's had has been far more than "mediocre"--meaning the amount of attention it's raised both good and bad, hence "controversy". From your wording in the original post I was under the impression that you thought it hadn't been very controversial at all, sorry if I misconstrued that. I definitely didn't mean to defend that it's the most controversial show ending ever though, I don't agree with that statement either.
ReplyDeleteHiding in teenage girls.
ReplyDeleteBut the vampires shouldn't even be in the contest, neither should any 1 year old show.....we all know what people voted for the vampires cause they think Edward is hot. If it wasn't for Twilight and all that Twilight mania, VD wouldn't exist. No ones is voting for the show himself (or no more than 10% of the votes)
ReplyDeleteand how can a 1 year show be the best show ever? Maybe the 2nd year will be crap, maybe the producers can't handle all the questions than put in a cliffhanger, maybe they'll never answer the questions before 5-6 years....there's no way to know with a one year show.........
I agree with the 1 year show thing. I am completely disagreeing with your argument that it's because Edward is hot. Obviously The Twi-fanbase is a big pusher for the Vampire Diaries, but that series has existed LONG before Twilight, and is generally seen as a better series from a critical point of view.
