Best Show Ever Quarter Final 2 - Smallville vs. The Vampire Diaries will be Re-Opened for a further 23 hours

First off, I'm expressing apologies to fans of both shows.
I understand I can't please everyone here. I have been travelling back from Belgium today, and have been in and out of the London Subway System and unfortunately I could not check the precisely on the hour mark. Just before when I had checked, Smallville was ahead, however, once I reached my hotel 20 minutes past the hour The Vampire Diaries had snuck ahead.
Therefore, I have been left with no choice but to leave this poll open for a further day and to run the Grey's Anatomy vs. LOST poll alongside.
I can only apologise for the mistake, has I known I would have set a closing timer for the poll today, but as a result, and to make it as fair as I can given the circumstances, I will close Quarter Final 2 and 3 at the same time.
The links to both are here:
Smallville vs. The Vampire Diaries: http://www.spoilertv.com/2010/07/best-show-ever-quarter-final-2.html (This will reopen at 1:00am BST, so spread the word and may the Best Show Win)

Thanks, and apologies
Adam

  2. Why not just making Smallville the winner? Smallville won fair and square, he deserved to win

    ReplyDelete
  3. You say you were well aware of who won, THEN WHY CAN'T YOU DECLARE SMALLVILLE THE WINNER?

    ReplyDelete
  4. SO CHEAP. MAKE SMALLVILLE THE WINNER. THEY WERE CLEARLY AHEAD AT THE 24 HOUR MARK.

    COMPLETELY CHEAP!

    Giving Vampire/Twilight the unfair advantage.

    ReplyDelete
  5. What's happening to the others show who had a chance of winning but lose cause they were behind at the real close time? It's unfair for thoses shows to give another chances to the vampires

To be really fair, Smallville is the winner by the rules

  6. When I checked the specific times, I was 7 minutes out when I checked on my iPhone. It's the fairest way I can do it

    ReplyDelete
  7. No it's not, you admitted that you knew who the winner was at the exact 24 hour mark.

Why can't you just say that Smallville was the winner? EVERYBODY knows it was.

Why you gotta cheat just to let the twilight craze over-run such an incredible show? I know you may like it, but this is CHEATING.

What if TVD wins tomorrow? Are they gonna be the true winners? REALLY? Despite the fact that Smallville won fair and square on the 24 hour mark?

  8. Let me put it this way, If I closed the polls when I got to my hotel, The Vampire Diaries would be the winner. I won't be drawn into it again, it's the only decision I can make because I wasn't here.
I haven't seen either show so I personally didn't vote for either myself. I do this for fun, because I enjoy it and I want people to do so also. I'm here as a fan too. Love it or Leave it, the decision has been made.

  9. Could you people please chill? He's doing this the way he chose to do it--now either get your rabid masses together doing some POSITIVE action with the extra 23 hours he gave you, then just shut the hell up! I don't want TVD to win either, but I'm not gonna act like a 4-year-old and post a tantrum.

  10. Does this mean everyone gets to vote again or is it still a one vote per person thing?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Thanks for taking your time to do this. It is a fun way to pass through the hiatus. Any chance you will do something similar - maybe with characters, etc. to make August go by quicker?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Thank you! You are right.

  13. Things happen. It's only an internet survey with no real power except bragging rights. Think of it as a way to not only trounce VD but to also get the word out more so it has a better chance against The Wire. It's a longer time to get word-of-mouth going. Besides if you explain why you think you got rooked, you may get sympathy votes from people who have never watched Smallville.

  14. best finale ever lol. i would live that one

  15. stop it, if he or she... had close the poll smallville would have lost. I dont get it only smallville fan or complaining and we are the winning parti in this decision.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'm NOT a Smallville fan, I've NEVER listened that show. It's not about Smallville winning, it's about the vampires losing. I want to see the crazy Twilight fans losing. and since Smallville is the first show that had a shot to do that, we better not miss it

    ReplyDelete
  17. well exactly be happy that we got more time to do it. And we are i think. hehe. And not that i dont apreciate you wanting vp to lose but have you at least watch the show? its pretty good. WAY better then twilight

    ReplyDelete
  18. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SMALLVILLE FTW!! C'MON MY FELLOW SMALLVILLE FANS PUT UR VOTES IN!!!!!

  19. I'm sorry, but this is not fair. Turn it and twist how you want, it should have been 24 hrs. and I'm sorry that you were unavailable at the time, but you should have set a timer then. This is not fair to #smallville that would have won nor to any other series that we voted for in this poll and that got only its alloted 24 hrs. Either do it right or don't do it at all. People are already complaining how "unfair" and whatnot this poll is - don't know, don't really care - and this is just made the whole thing a complete ridicule. It's not the Emmys or the Oscars and but it would be nice if the competition at least followed some rules.

  20. This is not about acting like a 4-year-old, it's about clearly stated rules that were broken by the mod himself. What about the other shows that could've won with extra 23+ hours? How many results could be re-written if they were given a do-over?

Honestly, I couldn't care less who wins - it'll be Lost anyway and since that show annoys the heck outta me, I'm all whatever - but this kinda soured the fun because it smacks of unfairness.

  21. To all those moaning....

    - Adam does this in his OWN Spare time
    - He's doing a fantastic job with this
    - Like me, Adam is only HUMAN
    - He was under no obligation to even make a post last night. He was gracious enough between travels to come on line a let people know the situation. Most sites would not have bothered and would have just left the poll run without any explanation.
    - This is meant to be fun people, some of you are taking this FAR too seriously. If it's affecting you that much, I suggest you stop voting and participating.
    - Next time before moaning and criticizing, stop to think about what you are about to say and ask yourself what have you actually contributed?

For the rest of you keep on voting and enjoying the the Cup. We hope to have another one as Adam said later in the year and hope to maybe make these annual events.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Its not a do-over. You can still only vote once. It's an Extension.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I admire you and thank you for doing this in your spare time. But a negative response to something like this is to be expected, I'm sorry to say, especially from fans who voted for a show that would've won. They see it as rightfully unfair. You got them invested into this and their criticism when something goes wrong is a negative side effect of that - but it's also these invested people who drive voters to your site, casual clickers don't bother.

And as a participant, I do everything I can to contribute: I vote, I comment, I spread the word. So yes, I have contributed, not being a mod, just a participant.

  24. I'm hoping for a Best Character Competition in August. See how things go time wise, and if people want one :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wow. You can clearly see the mentality of the Smallville fanbase, just by reading these comments. I can't understand how the show even got past one season... bad writing and bad plotting, with 'meh' acting. I've seen more promie from The Vampire Diaries in one season than I have with Smallville in eight.

But then, I'm not a fan of either. I like good TV.

  26. Don't forget to include Cameron from Terminator : The Sarah Connor Chronicles in your Character tournament. Cameron, played by the cute and talented Summer Glau was the star of the show for the majority of TSCC fans.

  27. Thanks for your efforts men!

  28. I don't pick them myself. I'll do it like I did this competition, people would nominate characters to be entered, and I will pick the most popular from the lists. I had around 500 lists in the show nominations, so I'll base it purely on that. However I probably will have a Show Limit, so its not 30 LOST characters vs. 12 Glee vs. 20 Smallville or something. I will work it out once this one is done. Thanks for the support though!

  29. It's not all about Smallvillel fans cause I've NEVER see any of thoses 2 shows. I just want to see the vampires lose cause I hjave enough of thoses vampires fans going crazy for nothing (like bitting each other in real life to show love, or getting real fangs and things like that).

The twilight fans think they're the best and invicible and I wanted to see them lose to get them angry

    ReplyDelete
  30. SMALLVILLEE!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Let's see Supernatural lose, too!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I could see that happening. Good thinking because if it is all about Lost I wouldn't tune in. It would be good to have a variety but you will probably get flak about this too since people will complain that their favorite character didn't make the cut for their show. Just know that through the complaints, some people still appreciate something to get involved in while waiting through hellatus.

  33. Thanks Adam <3 for the chance to vote for my fave.:) Safe journey!! Oh, and Belgium = Belgium chocolates. Is all I'm saying. :D
