Day 31: The month is at an end. The final poll for the Best Show Competition (for this year at least) is here, and it's not the final I had expected, but I am looking forward to it nonetheless. I will say a few words tomorrow in my final post about the competition tomorrow once the winner is crowned, so I will keep it short tonight, but I am hugely proud of what your efforts have meant to me, as I decided to do this for the people who love TV as much as me, and to have 14,480 people voting in the LOST vs. Supernatural Battle yesterday is staggering to me. As we saw the other day, here is the map of where was voting in yesterdays poll:
But I will say more in my wrap-up post on the competition as a whole, and as we say goodbye to LOST and The Wire, our losing Semi-Finalists, we can turn our attention to The Vampire Diaries taking on Supernatural in a battle for the title. Based on today's efforts I would guess Supernatural is the favourite, but The Vampire Diaries has shocked on many a round so far, and so it will come down to which fan-base wants it more. The Vampires vs. The Demons (I think that's Supernatural :P)
And so for the Final Time, I announce Let The Battle Begin....

Fan Review: Wilson Crawford
What started off as a seemingly fun, scary monster-of-the week show in the beginning quickly revealed itself to be one of the most well-written, fantastically-plotted, genre shows of the past decade. The core of Supernatural was, is, and will always be the brothers Winchester. Cursed by the demonic murder of their mother at a young age, the remnants of the Winchester family fell into a world of darkness. They were raised by their father to hunt the evil that preys on humanity, and ultimately to rid creation of the demon that killed their mother. Supernatural has one of the most incredible teams of writers I've ever seen: they can take the apocalypse and reduce it to two bratty forces of heaven having a tantrum, and then take a few misguided granted wishes and turn them into imminent danger. The action is well-laid out, the humor is crude, satirical, and sharp, and the twists in this show are some of the most insane, thought-out twists you'll ever see in television. Like I stated previously, however, the heart of this show lies on the brothers, and this show is not only a wonderful buildup of mythos, but the character development is out of this world. I can't speak enough on the evolution, the trials, and the strength of the commitment these two brothers have for each other. There's a reason it's called the "hellatus" between seasons...and That is why Supernatural is the BEST SHOW EVER.
(I had a lot of video submissions, so sorry if I haven't picked yours. I haven't seen the show so I tend to go with which one grabs me within the first 30 seconds)
Third Place Playoff

GO SPN!
ReplyDeleteIf Supernatural doesn't win, it will be a joke! lol... but I hope that Lost definately wins as third place, because they sure deserve it in my eyes!
ReplyDeleteGo, team vampire hunters!
ReplyDeleteok now thats pretty hard to chose bcoz both of this shows is my fav but i voted for #SUPERNATURAL
ReplyDeleteand i will be happy anyway for the both shows
BUT for the third place for sure i voted for LOST
I posted the call for arms on the Supernatural FB site. Check the discussion board. Please help spread the word through twitter. GO SUPERNATURAL!!!
ReplyDeleteHAHA! Sic Gordon on them? ;D
ReplyDeleteWhy would you put a show with only one season in up against a show that's had five seasons and quite a fan following? Is there really even a question who will win?
ReplyDeletehein... Who Am I kindding!!! I LOVE THIS SO MUCH AHAHAHAA I can't just not watch this hahhaah. okay Let's go. I see we have a good 400 votes but as we well know, it does not mean anything.
ReplyDeleteLast poll was a hard choice (LOST, I'll always love you!) but I'm still sticking with SPN as my #1 love! And my claim as before still stands - a show in its first season that's riding the "vamp mania" wave shouldn't win this poll.
ReplyDeleteSo, SPN fans (LOST fans, X-Files fans, everyone) I urge you to give your support to SPN! It, at the VERY least, has been on TV for more than one season - and isn't "just the popular thing" of the moment.
Of course I'm gonna vote for Supernatural!!! I love the Winchester boys, especially Dean! ;)
ReplyDeletethe fans voted it there... THEY ARE THE CRAZY ONE hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprise if VD win actualy. They won every fight by 80% or more except for Smallville (... and might I say that my tweeting seems to work some miracles lol)
I'm not sure the Wire fans know about the contest. That should be the most lopsided battle of them all, including the first rounds.
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine a travesty greater than if Supernatural lost this contest. vote, tweeples!
ReplyDeleteGo Supernatural!!! Best show on TV. Period.
ReplyDelete*cough* *cough* sorry i think i nearly died after reading your post
ReplyDeleteVD will be remember 20yrs from now! come on. I'm actualy laughing here.
Great work from cast! The lea actress is sooooo bad it pains me. the stephen is okay, I most admit that Damon/Ian is really good with that caracter bravo.
And for the last time VD is a BOOK! It's not an amazing great story for a show. next seasons we will see if they can come up with great stuff by themself (the writers that is). They gave us a good final twist I'l give you that but my my. The season wasn,t so good story wise. It's a great gilty pleasure and a fun show for vamp lovers (I am one :D)
Don't underestimate the vampires. SPN always does best of we go in as complete underdogs. This is going to be a battle of who can reach the most fans online. So far, VD has shown themselves to be very good at that. However, in a completely spiteful way, I would love for SPN to win by thousands just to stick it to the CW. I really want to cram it down their throats and that has absolutely NOTHING to do with VD as a show.
ReplyDeleteI'm not as cool about this poll as it might seem, Chanelle, but that's only because I despise the CW (even more than the WB).
Supernatural definitely had to work harder to get here than VD. Hopefully that means that we are better prepared for the battle ahead. (Holy water at the ready, dead man's blood packed, nice big sword sharpened).
ReplyDeleteNo, SPN cannot claim to ever have been riding a popularity train. Man I wish it did. It would make talking about the show to others easier and would have kept me from hyperventilating the first 3 years with worry about it being renewed.
ReplyDeleteI love both these shows but I gotta stay true to my first cw love Supernatural :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck to both of these great shows :)
Agree, if they make it to season 3 people won't be as much into it for no reason (plus the twilight mania will calm down eventualy...) haha.
ReplyDeleteyeah! I know. I decided not to tweet to much to night. Watch me tomorow if VD dares to come close to my Kick ass show
ReplyDeleteNah..they prefer a simple beheading by wire garotting or with a nice shiny sword. Preferably a wickedly cool curved sword like on the season 1 DVD box.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural, obviously.
ReplyDeleteMen i don't know what to do!!! Because of this contest I now have 5 new series to watch, i really need to finish season 6 of lost, I NEED to watch supernatural again after those amazing post you guys posted and I bought smallville so i need to finish it. GOD!! WHY WHY MADE GOOD TV!?!
ReplyDeletesorry i had a melt down. I need some spn votes to make me feel better ;)
I thought Gordon was awesome. I just wish he hadn't been so tragically bent. He couldn't see good from evil or right and wrong anymore and his mission to kill Sam was only going to get him killed in the long run. No other way that could have gone but it was sad he had to suffer like the creatures he hunted... even if that made it easier for the guys to deal with him.
ReplyDeleteAww, I miss that knife that Sam had in the pilot. They definitely need to bring that back and show how awesome Sam is at wielding it. He's completely the knife fighter/hand to hand of the brothers.
ReplyDeleteI dont know who Anne rice's is :((
ReplyDeleteI think he was a shout out to Blade, not sure but i got that vibe. loved it anyway
The video for SPN is good... but this one is really cool! If you feel like watching one more video before placing your vote, PLEASE give this one a look!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCHlT-Gr9dg
ReplyDeleteSo true. The brother bond is the whole show. Without it, we wouldn't be talking Supernatural today because it wouldn't still be around.
ReplyDeleteCOME ON SUPERNATURAL!!! Look, I've never really seen much of TVD, so I'm not going to sit here and insult it. I'm not a fan of the plot from what I've seen and heard, but the acting could be good, and it seems to be entertaining a lot of people. HOWEVER, I *can* say that good or not, it's not ready to win The Best TV Show. It's only had one season! Everyone knows that one of the most diffifult thing a show can do is spit out a string of good seasons one right after the other and keep people interested. Despite never being able to ride the popularity train, SPN has lasted for over 100 episodes, with its fanbase GROWING each year. The creators, writers, actors, and everyone else involved with SPN has more than paid their dues and earned this title. And the fans have stuck by them in a way that's so dedicated it's almost eerie, hahaha.
ReplyDeleteIn a few years, if TVD is still going strong, then it could definately be in the rightful running to win this title. Until then, I think it's time Sam and Dean take their rightful place.
Happy voting everyone! SPN <3
Anne Rice wrote The Vampire Chronicles. Interview With The Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned are the core books of the series but there are many offshoots of the same 'verse about other vamps. I particularly like Blood and Gold. Her Mayfair Witches stuff is pretty wicked too.
ReplyDeleteGordon may have been a shout out to Blade... it's possible but I can't say for sure as I don't recall Kripke ever mentioning it.
No more hesitation!!!! It's Supernatural!! Go go my boys! You Rock!!! Spread your wings!!!!
ReplyDeleteTVD vs SPN is gonna be crazy!! and I love the Salvatore vampires with all of my heart BUT the Winchester brothers are my entire life!!!
ReplyDeletelol. I really enjoyed the show.
ReplyDeleteo my... I saw a vid of Cass/dean... It was ... graphic lol. Disturbing I'm for ever changed :( too young ahhaha
ReplyDeleteomg okay I post it ahaha but if you watch you have been warned... disturbing and freken well made
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcYv06-sEoE
hmmm quite a conumdrum I have here. Don't know who to vote for. Still getting over the fact that SPN beat my fav show (X-Files) and can't believe a first year show is actually in the final. Good luck to both shows though.
ReplyDeleteI watch little tv but I love books! =D I go back to the stories I love every so often over the years. Kinda like with video games and tv, if it has a good story I will reread it, rewatch it, replay it. So I'm rather selective about all of these things. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!!!!!!!! wow, so the girl who made the competiter's vid voted for supernatural ahahaah.
ReplyDeleteouf ouf... ouch my stomach hurts hahahaha lol
oh boy, an other one. YEP VD is for teeangers, maybe there is some older people watching it i dont know
ReplyDeleteBUT SUPERNATURAL ISN'T ONLY FOR TEENAGERS!!! Hell it's not even who the writers are writing for. Yes it's on the CW nd this is the only reason why you think that. oh men I won't even talk more i'm pissed that we still get those comments. I'm sure dahne will be glad to shut you up with a big nice comment well writen so cant wait
Some more racial diversity would be appreciated and I think they could have some fun with it. The first thing that comes to mind is Sam and Dean in line to board an airplane. Sam is getting everything ready like tickets and carry on and hiding their possibly needed weapons, and Dean is being very antsy about getting on a plane since he is afraid of them. Dean looks over and sees someone of Middle Eastern lineage and says "Hey if you crash this plane I'll tear your lungs out." Of course the person is offended and glares and looks like he is about to retort when Sam comes from behind Dean and steers him away while apologizing for his "unwell" brother. :P
ReplyDeleteGolly, a bitter Lost fan? Who'dathunkit? I'll take *both* Supernatural and TVD over the Philosophy-101-bait that was Gilligan's Island 2005. And for the record, I voted for The Wire, though sadly, I don't expect it to beat Lost for third. As for The Sopranos, it started well, but I'm glad I quit watching after Nancy Marchand died and it became clear Tony and the plot were going to chase their tails for the rest of the series. Breaking Bad was lots of fun for its first season, but really, how many good seasons--even short ones--can you drag out of a terminally ill math-teacher-turned-crack-baron? As for the gimmicky Dexter, I'm reminded of that rant of Dean's from Supernatural about the pretentiousness of some cop shows: "Oh, look! A plane crashed here!" Oh, look! A vigilante/serial killer!
ReplyDeleteMy promo vid to vote for SPN::: send to your friends and post wherever if you think it'll help! GO SPN!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jeohAKvNPM
Oh, dear lord. Another one of you guys?
ReplyDeleteName-calling is juvenile. Stop stereotyping a show just because you don't like it (or don't like the fact that it beat your favorite show to the finals). Hate to poke a rather large hole into your logic, but the teenage demographic is, frankly, a very small one compared to the Supernatural viewers in their late twenties and thirties (and onwards). Hell, my dad is pushing 60 and he loves the crap out of Supernatural. Your generalization of these shows' fans just colors your words ignorant and embittered... plus your type generally gives fans of the same shows that you like a bad rap. Perhaps you should take more time championing your favorite shows instead of attacking others for voting for theirs.
Supernatural fans, keep it classy. I've read nothing but well-written, mature responses to these types of comments. (:
ouf, truth hurts vd
ReplyDeletenight people
disgustingly pathetic
ReplyDeleteUm actually it sounds like you are agreeing with me. I never said Gordon was a bad guy. I said he was tragically bent. As in bent on killing vampires no matter what. What I said about him not being able to see good from or evil or right from wrong sounds like you what you mean by him not seeing shades of gray. What I meant was that for him there was no such thing as a good vamp. They were all evil as far as he was concerned. Lenore is exactly why I said that. Dean and Sam couldn't kill her because she wasn't evil but Gordon sees a vampire and to him it's evil no matter what. I also remember Ellen warning them about Gordon. Ellen said he was a good hunter but working with him was bad business and it was for this very reason. It's not that Gordon was bad. He was just very single minded which I even said in so many words.
ReplyDeleteI said in a previous post about how he was turned into what he hates most and a the worst version of it, as in not like Lenore. Lenore didn't feed on humans. Gordon did. Gordon didn't bother with the struggle to not feed on humans all that hard. He believed he should be killed but that Sam was a greater threat the he could deal with now that he was a vamp. So for him, his killing of a human was justified because it was one life taken so he could continue hunting Sam. It's the one and only thing he wanted to do before he left. There's his single-mindedness again. He's more tragic than evil which was my point all along so I'm confused as to where and why you disagree with me but c'est la vie. :)
Hate, hate, hate Missouri!!! She is my least favorite character. Ugh! She was always messing with Dean and yet cozying up to Sam. It was creepy. Plus she kept pushing her way into their family business when no one asked her. She was not family and just because she knew John did not give her the right to presume in Dean and Sam's lives. I hated this character!
ReplyDeleteThe backlash from Dean fans would make Vancouver quake. Dean does say things without thinking first but that would be over the top. Plus Dean is rarely malicious. Not to mention, I don't see Dean getting on a plane anytime soon. It took a literal act from God to get him on the last one.
ReplyDeleteI miss Zach. He was the bad guy you love to hate but how Dean got him was cool. Anna... I had no attachment to one way or another. I liked the idea of another higher powered angel being on the guys' side but they tossed that idea in the crapper too. Poor misguided Uriel. I loved his scenes with Dean the most. In his scenes with Sam you really feel he's an extremely powerful being and it's somewhat awe inducing but then they revealed him to be a petty traitor with Daddy issues. On the one hand I felt sorry for him because he obviously needs the support and love from God but he'd gone sour and his disdain for humanity didn't exactly endear him to me so I was a little torn about him.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you are absolutely right. We will get our fair share of haters who want to take down the show that took them out of the running. Actually, the fact that it is going against VD may be it's saving grace though. More people seem to dislike it in the other rounds than SPN. If it were going against something that was not on the CW, I'm sure SPN would be the anti-vote everyone was gunning for. Sadly, it always is.
ReplyDeleteYeah Dean doesn't usually say things without cause. I think he'd be more likely to joke about the Mile High Club than pick on someone. If a case requires he get on a plane, he'll do it - he did in season one - but the target quite literally has to be on the plane or Dean is gonna insist on driving there. :D Unless time is extremely critical or the case is across the ocean somewhere. Dean doesn't like planes at all.
ReplyDeleteThey really have not taken advantage of it. It was the coolest weapon they showed in all of Season 1 and they never did anything with it. OK. Someone Twitter Sera Gamble and say we want more diversity in the guest slots and a truly gruesome death scene using this wicked sword.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely right. 2000 votes seem like a lot but it's the middle of the night in the US. My bet is that the majority of VD's fans are still sleeping. Tomorrow will be a different story.
ReplyDeleteI like your plan. I'll take poorly written or plotted. Anyone want to take it's just gore for 1,000? Also we need someone who is not completely sick of the hottie factor slam.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to getting a new argument somewhere. Anyone?
Yeah, just the first thing that sprang to mind when it was mentioned about a diversified cast. It's 3 AM and I can assure you I meant no disrespect by any of it. Just a simple random scenario that popped into my head.
ReplyDeletelove the points you make. No one even mentioned the hotel rooms before and they are just hilarious, especially in the first season. The reason there is no sound track is becuase the CW couldn't afford to buy the rights to the music to sell one. That's also why some of the great songs that originally aired are missing on the iTunes version of the episodes. Again, blast you CW. SPN deserves a better network.
ReplyDeleteIt's not over yet. The poll is still young and I'm sure once TVD fandom gets a hold of this poll they will attack in numbers. Which is why Supernatural fans must stay diligent to stave off an uprising that we have perfected over the last couple of rounds :P
ReplyDeleteSupernatural for it's dark complexity and dramatic flare.
ReplyDeleteTVD for the quiet strength of Bonnie Bennett. Willowish witch to the sexiest Pyro ever. <3
TVDs love triangle has become tiresome with Damon/Stefan/Elena - but I enjoy the boys fighting their natures of blood. Sorta like Sawyer and Jack from Lost, only more - fanged.
Supernatural wins this one.
Aww, that is depressing! The truth is hard sometimes especially when people are willfully ignorant about it. The fact that it takes something racially motivated is just further proof that racism is still a problem of today's society.
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely necessary. I just get nervous when they get ready to have "The Talk" of the season. It sometimes drifts too far into soaps region for me. Plus, I relate more to Dean than Sam. I like it when people can prefer other people and still have a rational conversation. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe Wire should be #1 but then again, I doubt it has as many fans as the other shows, nor does it have as many fangirls. It's a shame, really, because the shows genius.
ReplyDeleteYour point about Bela, I'll grant you that. But it often felt like the writers were deliberately trying to make Sam and Dean look stupid around her. Compared to Cassie though? Yeah I agree. I love the "chick flick moments" line! Also love "Shotgun shuts his cakehole" I use that in the car and "this sucks out loud" is another good one. I still use it. I even found myself using the chick flick line not too long ago. I disagreed with my friend's BF's opinion of my other friend. But since we couldn't agree, I told her I wanted to drop it and by the next time she saw me, I'd be cool. She wanted to hash it out when she saw me and I was like "Hey, no chick flick moments". I'm really not a feelings person. I have to try to be reasonable about these things with most people lest they get butthurt into thinking I don't care at all.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural vs. Vampire Diaries!?! This is gotta be a joke!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jason.
ReplyDelete***I hope that it stays on for as long as possible (Sorry Jared and Jensen, but that means you working for 14 hours a day for 9 months of the year :P)***
There is one very funny story about potential 20th season of SPN. But it is on Russian.
I think the CW may order spin off of SPN with another charismatic actors. It may be about sons of Dean or Sam or about something else. This show may save SPN fanbase plus add new fans. I know it's not original, but it still may be interesting. CW close some shows next season and who knows, may be they will pick up something like it. I hope that.
Hey SPN fans! Can someone with a Twitter account tweet Tina from the last round and make sure she knows about this round? She left a good post on the Lost vs. SPN page (second post if you are going by newest) but I don't think people saw it because it was posted too late. I'd love for her to repost her comments here.
ReplyDeleteyeah.. the fangrls.. *Shudders* I think they all asleep at the mo.. we have another 16 hours to go yet...
ReplyDeleteSPN all the way!!!
Space xx
Well.. Being a teenager again wouldnt be so bad, if Iwas back in 1985...
ReplyDeleteI am pushing 40 have my own children.
'appeal to teens'
awww. adorable..
but no. it appeals yes. but it's not for teens.
SPN voted for and loved by me and my older family.
I can't say I don't love TVD, I do, but SPN is something I liked much sooner. Sorry :/
ReplyDeleteFucking disgusting. I can't believe it came down to these two. The Internet fails.
ReplyDeleteTweeted her. Hopefully she can make it and lessen the load for all of us to combat the mudslinging that is going on and that will surely only get worse. For now though, sleep is no longer something I can hold off on., so I will be seeing you all later and I'll be sure to bring an extra sharp tongue for anyone that wants to criticize Supernatural without giving valid reasons.
ReplyDeleteit's just TV. Never be ashamed of being entertained by a show for one reason or another. As long as you have a good time, the tv show fulfilled its purpose. And even if TVD would win, it doesn't mean that Supernatural or any other show can't be YOUR BEST SHOW.
ReplyDeleteOMG I love this!! you totally rock!!!
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine spn riding the popularity train? That would be so awesome!!! No worrying if Demon!Dawn would cancel us, no worry about the show having enough money to put Classic Rock for every episode, no worry about promotion......
ReplyDeleteLet's wait 20 years and see OK.
ReplyDeleteReally shocked not to see Lost in this finale- though it would win for sure, given the focus of this site.
ReplyDeleteOut of the two, Supernatural definitely is the most deserving winner.
You're scaring me. I didn't know vampires come out at nightanymore with all the daywalkers running around in TrueBlood, Twilight and Vampire diaries.
ReplyDeleteVampire Diaries VS Supernatural... Seriously? Neither of these shows deserve the top spot.
ReplyDeleteHahaa, actually TrueBlood does have vampires that sleep during the day ;D
ReplyDeleteI couldn't resist - this is one of my favourite Supernatural vids (well, it's more like a Dean vid, but still rocks):
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EL5NwMFU4UA
Let's face it. Vampire Diaries has no right to win this -- I mean Ian Somerhalder grinning like an idiot does not constitute good TV.
ReplyDeleteThanks much. Sleep has eluded me; better luck to you.
ReplyDeleteI wrote what I thought might be a CW spinoff of SPN in 10 years on the character contest suggestion list. It goes something like Ben grows up to be an incredibly sexy young hunter learning how to dispatch evil with his equally sexy young multiethnic friends. Overcoming drug addictions, eating disorders, and the fact that they have all dated each other at least twice, they take out ghosts in between hissy fits and shopping. Their first case is of course in a New York penthouse where they meet other beautiful, rich, and scantily clad teens with nary a parent in sight. BE WARY of any spinoff from the CW.
ReplyDeletePushing 40 myself. I'm not sure that SPN would have appealed to me as much in my teens. But now, I can't get enough.
ReplyDeleteThat said I would never wish to be a teen again. Too much drama and insecurity.
The advanced and nuanced mythology was one thing I was going to put in my Why I Love SPN - Part 2 rant but I got sidetracked by all the thrown mud in the last round. I love how they take a mixture of common folklore and urban legends like Bloody Mary and mix it with things I had not heard of like the shtriga. I also love how they put their own SPN-spin on each of them. While some people have stated that the monster-of-the-week theme gets old, I usually find them a refreshing change from strings of the heavy mytharc stories.
ReplyDeleteyes go supernatural , you are the best drama ever n i love the series
ReplyDeleteDemon!Dawn - how true, how true. If it were that popular that we didn't even have to worry about the budget (sigh), we could start on that Supernatural movie that Kripke once talked about. Dean and Sam on the big screen kicking evil to kingdom come. Now there's a dream come true. I wish the last XF movie had done better domestically because then we could show Hollywood that genre TV can translate into big bucks for them.
ReplyDeleteI like Gordon because he was so black and white about things. He reminded me of John but Gordon didn't screw Dean and Sam's lives up for years before disappearing on them, so I liked him better. Gordon's speech about how things were easy for him and Dean because they didn't think in shades of grey was fascinating for me. I loved Dean's face when he was saying it because while Dean wanted to pretend that everything was going well, he couldn't deal with his dad's death. Meeting Gordon right after his dad's death was the most poisonous time for Dean. I imagine he could hear his dad saying the same things, and yet he was left with the guilt of his dad's sacrifice and the burden of his dad's secret. Then when Dean starts questioning what his dad taught them about evil made Fresh Blood one of my favorite episodes of all.
ReplyDeleteOf course Supernatural's going to win... it already cheated its way past The X files and Lost....
ReplyDeleteOMG... The Vampire Diaries Will never win SHUAHSUAHS
ReplyDeleteGo SPN , Go
And how exactly did we cheat to win? It's an internet poll. I'm sorry you are mad that your shows lost but that's hardly a reason to say people cheated. All three shows did an amazing job and fans from all three should be proud of the effort they made.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you on here Tina. I was hoping people would be able to see this amazing post.
ReplyDeleteWhy should a show have to be finished? SPN has 5 seasons which is plenty of time to decide if you think it is good or not.
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone will ever be as charismatic as Jared and Jensen, so once the series is over, noone is supposed to enter the Supernatural world ever again. It's a Sam and Dean world, they own it, and it should disappear as soon as the boys disappear from it. Although I really hope SPN will air for many seasons more. Just let them come up with a new 5-season long storyline and there we go ;)
ReplyDeleteWhen I see Supernatural VS Vampire Diaries as a final and The Wire VS Lost being only the third place play-off and a show like Six Feet Under not even on semi-final I think that most people mistook the The Best Show Ever Contest with a Best Still On Air TV Show Contest. Especially for Vampire Diaries. I have nothing against that show but how can a show which has just finished its first season can win against shows which were perfect, or nearly, for 5 / 6 seasons (or more) and are still considered as "classic TV Show" even years after it ends ?? (I'm also thinking about Oz, The X-Files, The Sopranos, Seinfeld, Arrested Development, M.A.S.H., ...)
ReplyDeleteHey, don't forget to vote in the third place poll. The Wire or Lost deserve more votes.
ReplyDeleteHey Katy from the VD vs. Wire fight. If you are out there, you should repost your reason for why VD is a good show. You did a great job and things are getting lopsided here.
ReplyDeleteMany people are saying shows with only one season should not be allowed to win. So Freaks and Geeks wouldn't qualify? Wouldn't that also cut Firefly out of the race? Many people would defend that show to the death.
ReplyDeleteBecause it would eliminate Stupid shows like Glee and TVD knocking out proper shows like The prisoner and The Sopranos when it's plain to see it is just their active fanbase carrying those shows further than they should go. I can almost swallow Supernatural as it is at least have decent but no where near the top 2 shows of all time- and time will show that.
ReplyDeleteIt's not the same when it's a show which had only one season but was over like the ones you said or The Prisoner and The Corner, and a show which is still airing after only one season. Cause in the second case you have no idea how it would go on. For example if I had to vote for Rescue Me at the end of season 1 it would have been one of my fave TV shows but if I have to vote for it now it would probably not even be in my top 20. You'll say it's the same for every shows still airing. You're right. But it's easier to have a more global vision of a show when the season 4 or 5 is starting than when the first one just ended.
ReplyDeleteI don't know. Those Lost fans are tough.
ReplyDeleteI think it should be shows that have run for at least two seasons or those finished. You cannot just say Supernatural is worse than something else because it's newer.
ReplyDeleteOh I know that name..he's on some soap isn't he? General Hospital?
ReplyDeleteGlad the apocalypse SL is over, too depressing. I'm surprised they can keep the show going after that. It seemed like it was over after that season, but I'm glad they decided to take it further!
ReplyDeleteI guess the best thing do to would have been to create two contests : one for the Best TV Show Over and one for the Best TV Show Still Airing. Doing so we would not have been that kind of argument :)
ReplyDeleteI think there should be a word about it in the title of this page - I think Lost and the Wire fans don't even know the poll is here and if they don't care whether TVD or SPN wins, they don't enter.
ReplyDeleteI didn't say that at all. It should only be finished shows because then you can view it in its entirety, Shows as good as Supernatural will have their day when they have finished, and it would stop shows like glee, knocking out shows it can't even hold a candle to just because it's new and popular.
ReplyDeleteSo you are proposing something like the Baseball Hall of Fame rule when you have to be off the playing field for a certain amount of time before you can be voted in. I could go for that if it meant that shows that just ended would be out of the running too. I think time will tell about Lost. Currently it's still too hyped up. The only concern I have is that this contest would have far fewer people voting in it and be less fun. The longer shows are off the air, usually the less their fans follow what is going on with the show on the internet. (XF, you are the proud exception to the rule) I mean most people didn't even know about this poll until half the rounds were over. If it didn't have shows that people were still watching, I doubt it would have the participation it does now. I don't think a poll decided by 300 people would be any more valid than what you are saying this one is. I mean look at who VD won against. The only time it was even close was when it was going against Smallville, a show that is still on. The Twilight Zone only got 272 votes and that show influenced all of the genre shows in this contest.
ReplyDeleteLOL!! Yeah, he was a vampire in the "dead men's blood" episode
ReplyDeleteDon't count them out yet. VD skews younger than a lot of shows and I don't think it is as available in other countries yet. It is still early in the US and on a Saturday too. I think you will see it pick up pace rapidly in the middle of the afternoon here. As Barney Stinson says....Wait for it.....
ReplyDeleteYep, I get what you mean. Maybe we should just have the Best Finished Show contest and The Best Show on Air separately, and then we wouldn't be calling anything the best show ever, coz honestly, it's just impossible to know all past and new shows. Although a contest for finished shows could be cool as well, if only you don't call it (or anything anymore) the best show ever contest.
ReplyDeleteAlthough you know with SPN its a bit different coz it's just finished its main storyline and for many people it's already complete and you do have a full view on it. But then again, I get your point.
My point was more about Vampire Diaries than Supernatural. I agree that Supernatural had had way more time to allow people to have a real opinion about it.
ReplyDeleteBut still, as long as a show is on air you don't know what can happen, it still can suddenly turn bad (Battlestar Galactica, The Simpsons) or good (Torchwood season 3), and I think it can happen even after 5 season. So that's why I think there should be two categories of contest so it would be more objective.
PS : Before people start insulting me or whatever when I talk about Battlestar Galactica, The Simpsons or Torchwood I'm just giving my own opinion, and I'm not saying that people who don't share my point of view are idiot.
They could still go to mexico and canada, and then they can take a boat hhhahaa
ReplyDeleteGod I was so pissed when they killed Jo and Ellen. At least it was a great death and made me cry so much mostly cause of Ellen, but I hate that Jo and dean kissed before she died. I mean come on how cliché is that. oh, I was a big Jo fan lol. Hope to see them again, in spn you never know.
ReplyDeleteGod Crowley is great, ruby new generation and improve lol.
As for the angels i agree, but I still want Castiel. There is nothing i find more amusing then cass with dean, and a little bit of cas and bobby hahaha. oh god i love that show. I'm waiting for my friend cause we are gonna continu watching season 2 AND SHE IS 1 HOUR LEFT!!!! im pissed
u cannot compare a sereies that ran for 100+ episodes with another that is in its first season..u have to wait for both shows to end before u can judge.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long fight but I hope people aren't so touchy that they start thinking this was insulting. :-) I'll stick my neck out further. Absolutely, shows can go bad after 5 seasons. As a matter of fact, I think that most shows do. Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The X-Files come to mind. I loved both shows but they became practically unwatchable to me because they stayed in the game past their prime. In all honesty, I am hoping SPN can avoid this fate but there is a reason why I am nervous about the next season. I would hate to see my formerly stellar show cheapened by drawing it out with bad plots or characterization. Plus, Jensen and Jared's contracts are up at the end of season 6 and if they pull a XF on me and change characters, I am out of it.
ReplyDeletehey, I totally agree with you on separating the contests ;) and shows getting worse after 5 seasons? word. have seen some of such... but i hope SPN won't be one of them ;) but well, the truth is, only time will tell...
ReplyDeleteI just prefer to anticipate cause few days ago things went a bit nasty and there was some insult just because some people couldn't understand that not everyone can share the same point of view. Anyway...
ReplyDeleteI don't totally agree about The X Files. For me it was awesome until mid-season 6. After that I still loved all the loner episodes, even after the change of cast, I just had to make my mind think it's a kinda different show now and I still loved it. But I hated all the mythological episodes post mid-season 6, I hated the direction the writers chose. And the ending of The X Files is one of the most disappointing ever for me, with the ending of Lost.
Do you mean when Dean kissed Jo's forehead before she died, cause I thought that was really touching. It was one of those moments when I was really proud of Dean. I was also proud of Jensen Ackles because his acting in that scene kills me every time.
ReplyDeleteI haven't really seen the anti-Cas stuff. Mostly I just see gushing about the character. I'm surprisingly ambivalent about Cas. I don't care if he stays but I have a hard time seeing where he will fit in in season 6. maybe as more of a recurring character than a full-fledged one.
ReplyDeletelol sounds like plan
ReplyDeleteWE KICK ASS!!! butt ;)
ReplyDeletehahah aw wow thank you!!! I'm really glad about it too :)
ReplyDeleteif tvd take 10% of the grestness that was the weakest season of this amazing show I will be watching lol
ReplyDeleteBRAVO!
ReplyDeleteThe third place definitely is LOST.. but the final between The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural is so confusing! but I think I'm gonna vote for SUPERNATURAL.
ReplyDeletebut one of the things nice about this competition is that you found shows you didn't know about and maybe it will bring more viewer
ReplyDeleteI'd really like to see a fight between them :D .. that'd be AWESOME :)
ReplyDeleteAt last, SPN is the favourite.
ReplyDeleteAllways been the underdog but now we are gonna win easily.
After seeing the votes so far, it seems that the real finale was LOST vs Supernatural. Even though I am sad LOST didn't win, I am so glad Supernatural is getting all this love at the same time. Go LOST and Supernatural.
ReplyDeletePS: Dean is great, but Sam will will always get my support. Go Sam.
Thank you for that wonderfully insightful piece of info, Damon. Can't wait for season 2. lol
ReplyDeleteWow...every poll Supernatural astounds me with the amounts of people voting for it. O.o I mean, it took all day yesterday to get 7400 and now it's at 6000 with 8-9 hours still left on the clock!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, you need to announce the 3rd place playoff in the title, it deserves more attention!!
ReplyDeleteAnd just look at this: Supernatural won against NCIS, The X-Files and LOST by a hair's breadth. TVD won most of its polls very easily. And now its like five and a half thousand votes behind. I don't want to be mean or anything, I know its the first time a contest like this has been held, but it does say something about the changes that have to be made to make it more fair in the future.
And I agree with the previous comments, Supernatural vs LOST was the true final and the most exciting one as well ;)
Supernatural deserves to get some attention, even if the fifth season wasn't it's best season, this is still a fair result in my opinion. Because hopefully it means that more people will check the show out now when it wins: The Best Show Ever 2010.
ReplyDeleteLost has already won thousands and thousands of awards and it already has millions and millions of viewers, which Supernatural doesn't even come close to have. So I am definitely happy to see how this contest turned out.
Again CW is a really crappy station, and alot of people doesn't watch it, just because it's "CW" show. I don't give a shit about CW to be honest I think they produce some of the worst teengirl superficial crap that's ever been show on TV and that includes stupid vampire diaries, which looks gay as fuck I might add, and don't understand how that could even make it this far? But between all the crap, there also happens to be one of the most well written, well acted, well produced and well directed shows that's been on TV for a long time and that show is Supernatural.
So congratz SPN... you deserve this.
Signed the dude.
I have to say, I was so glad they killed off Jo. I mean, I might have been the only person on the planet that didn't cry during that episode, but Jo already annoyed me in season 2, I was so glad I didn't have to watch her in seasons 3 and 4 and then BAM!! season 5 and she's there again, out of the blue. I don't even know why I didn't like her, I just didn't. And she wasn't a girl for Dean IMO, I felt she was more like a sister than a love interest for him. I really prefered him with other girls like Lisa, or even Anna. Jo was really annoying for me. The only thing I didn't like was the fact they also killed Ellen. It would've been interesting to watch her overcome her daughter's death and perhaps become closer to a mother or aunt for the boys.
ReplyDeleteAs for the angels, I love Castiel, really. I mean, I don't want him to be as huge part of the show as Sam and Dean, but once I fell for him, I couldn't give up on the character now. And his angel-human relationship with Dean was one of the best things in season 4 and a must be in season 5.
SPN FTW!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant. Your words are a true reflection of what is in the heart of every SPN fan. At least in mine it is. :)
ReplyDeleteyep, like I said, didn't want to complain, i know it's the first time and we need to learn from our mistakes. Also, of course it's for fun and believe me, it's been fun!!
ReplyDeletelol about Guiness, cool idea, perhaps they'll call? :P
anyway, cannot wait for the best character contest, these are really a lot of fun!! thumbs up for the idea!!
I agree 100% with all the Supernatural stuff and also that TVD doesn't deserve to win but not because I think it's crap. I actually like it and if you think about it this story was really before the whole "vampire craze", the books being written almost 20 years ago. While the TV series differs from the books the main concept of the love triangle to me doesn't seem all that cliche because it was written before even Buffy hit the scene. The reason I don't believe TVD should win this is because it's only in it's freshman year, no show, after only airing 1 season can live up to the name of "Best Show Ever", in 5 years, if it's still on the air then it may well deserve it but definately not now. But again, we're really on the same side here, Supernatural FTW!
ReplyDeleteThrough whatever means you deem worthy, obtain seasons 1-5 of Supernatural, and watch them. You might find yourself pleasantly surprised, and might end up kicking yourself for not watching it sooner. :) I came across the show during the early part of season 4, and I was like "where the hell have I been???" lol.
ReplyDeleteSo far looks like there VD is one of the most hated EVER XD
ReplyDelete/summons "Time" for Adam.
ReplyDeleteHope that helps ;)
Season 6 starts Sep 24th!!! So that means you have until then to catch up, and the sooner the better! :) Recommend adequate preparation: snack foods, caffeine beverage of choice, a pair of scissors to cut your phone cord if you still use a land-line, or, a thumb to silence your cellphone. You might not have to purchase a thumb though.
LOL @ "I'm not expecting Guiness to call asking me to present Supernatural with a Best TV Show Ever World Record :P"
ReplyDelete"Vampire Diarrhea".. HAHA!!!
ReplyDeletetwo terrible shows going against each other for the win!!!! The real matchup should the 3rd place matchup! and everyone knows it
ReplyDeleteOh that's definitely part of the appeal. For Uriel to be so above humans, above Dean and Sam and everyone else was a stark character personality trait to have in someone so ultimately flawed. During Uriel's speech with Cas I really did feel for him. That's why I was so torn because it was easier to just not like him with his disdain for people even though he was powerful. When he turned out to be just as flawed and human as the rest of us, it incurred sympathy which made his demise hard to celebrate. Gotta love Kripke for doing that to us. ;)
ReplyDeleteEveryone? About 7.000 people don't know that, apparently...
ReplyDeleteHave you ever watched SPN before saying that is "terrible"? You're close to blasphemy ;)
Route 666 wasn't well received for many reasons. For one: it was an ep about racism. I'm not saying they need to make racism storylines. I'm saying just include a little more diversity in the natural course of their lives. No point or comment needs to be made that the characters wouldn't normally make. For instance, similar to loud rap music, I think Dean would roll his eyes at loud heavy metal, because it's not what he thinks is music and it's being played loudly. The joke goes both ways because it's DEAN not because it's something culturally different. So this is what I mean by going there. :)
ReplyDeletepmsl.. obviously this person 'knows everyone' to be able to speak for them..
ReplyDeleteIn order to have a valid opinion, you have to have seen these shows. Have you watched VD and SPN? If not, please do. You may be pleasantly surprised. All we ask is that you try it. If you have seen them, then what makes them terrible? Constructive criticism makes the dialogue more interesting instead of just slinging mud.
ReplyDeletewhy would ANY dude be ashamed to watch this show? lol. It's rock and roll, muscle cars, ass kicking, and contains frequent cameos made by strippers! haha. I'm a chick, but this show inspired me to hit the gym, buy a kickass muscle car, and ask for a gun for christmas. So I did. Hahaha.
ReplyDeleteCW= chick crap. SPN= not.
God, I wish we were on another channel... sigh.
Great response Debbie. Hopefully others who think it is a "chick flick show" will try it too. You are right that little wins help Supenatural far more than other shows. In the long run, no one really cares who wins an internet poll, no matter how hard we fight for it. What we do want to win is viewers because that does count. We have already won here just from the number of people who have said that they will try SPN.
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't seen it, I urge you to give it a chance. People get hooked on this show who never dreamed they would. Oh and most of us are not teen girls either.
I know it's not just fangirls. Fanboys, too.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Lost is so much shorter to type than Supernatural. When you spend this much time defending your show from people who have not seen it, you get used to taking shortcuts like shortening the name. I think as long as everyone knows SPN stands for Supernatural, it should be fine. Sorry it annoys you.
ReplyDeleteBesides, the only reason anyone won any round at all is because of their online fanbase. It is an internet poll. Also, just because a show has a big online fanbase does not mean that its fans don't know what they are talking about. You know that since you like Supernatural too.
Laughing. Strippers. Yes, Dean does like his strippers. For me classic rock took an upwards climb on my iTunes while I was reminded of several songs I had shamefully neglected. Renegade by Styx, Carry On My Wayward Son by Kansas and almost everything by AC/DC has gotten a lot more airtime in my life since Supernatural came on. I didn't even remember Road to Shambala, but now every time I hear it I think of Dean fixing his baby. If I could buy a classic car I would. I have a far greater appreciation of early Impalas now. SPN might never inspire me to get a gun, but it has influenced several things I have bought. Oh and still laughing about this post. :-)
ReplyDeletePersonally, I am glad that it didn't come down to Gossip Girl or 90210. I would have a harder time being rational about those shows. And of course I am thrilled that there was nary a "reality tv" show at all. That I think is the only thing CW has going for it. It at least doesn't choke out scripted TV but an evergrowing surge of reality tv.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad someone is sticking up for TVD. What is it about that show that you like so much?
ReplyDeleteWay to go TikiTyler! For me the mere fact that Supernatural can hang in these contests with short of 5 million viewers against competitors that have 20 million viewers says everything. I would challenge that none of these other shows' fans have had to work so hard for so many years just to keep their show on the air against a hostile network. Nor did they have to work to combat so many stereotypes about their show. I'm not saying that they aren't as good of fans (just looking at the passion in the comments and the number of people voting negates that). I'm just saying that they are lucky that they have not had to play defense for their shows the entire time they have been on the air.
ReplyDeleteI did that in season 3. :D I'd see promos for it and the premise, the music and the car all intrigued me but it always conflicted with other shows. First with Stargate Mondays and my husband didn't care to try it, choosing to watch Paradise Hotel, of all things, instead. *cringes* It wasn't until I had a pc that could play videos well enough that I started watching it. Then I became hooked. My husband still doesn't care for it - so he says but he watches it if it's on - but he likes Smallville still so I try not to take it personally. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you would be irked too if you were accused of cheating and had no idea why. You still haven't answered why by the way. That does not reflect well on you.
ReplyDeleteAgree weith you Dahne1.. Online fanbase / Internet poll..
ReplyDeleteOnline / Internet..
Sound like it should be one and the same?
How else are people going to know to come to this ''Online Internet poll' to vote for their fav show?
In order to have an Internet Poll, you need an Internet online fanbase.. As its the fans who vote for their fav shows.
It doesnt work other than that, we cant 'phone the votes' in like the eurovision..
But the Poll is for entertainment purposes and *that* it does..
Funny, very funny. Still, it may be best not to encourage the fringe radical element in our fandom. Thank goodness they are such a small percentage.
ReplyDeleteOk, if anyone thinks this match is a bit of a joke (LOST VS SPN FTW) just watch this vid I made. lol
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TQk1oDBk6I
.... So because we write sup or super instead of supernatural thats an argument for the show not deserving the place in this poll... oh lord, forgive cause I have sin.
ReplyDeleteI wish I didn't have to explain why, because I didn't mean it... it was supposed to be tongue in cheek, because theres always someone who cries 'shenanigans' on these kind of polls... it's kind of tradition... I was filling a role that needed filling. And you've successfully filled the role of 'person who takes it way to personally and makes the offender have to explain himself, thus ruining the joke'... :-P
ReplyDeleteTrue, and you might want to start to watch around 7 or 8 pm cause its the more appropreate time or what ever but DONT! Start in the morning cause once you start you can't stop! So you won't spead 48 hours awake hahah.
ReplyDeleteTVD panel is going on right now, 2morrow it's SPN and Smallville!! Smallville's last panel....sigh!!!!!!! and I never been to one convention!!!!! = (
ReplyDeleteTrue, but I think that every great show that didn't make it passed the 1 or 2 round lost cause no one new about it lol. It's sad. But Supernatural made it true so I REALLY don't care.
ReplyDeleteAgain, the genius of Kripke. I wish he would stop making me like all these characters. I had NO "sympathy for the devil" but other than that it is hard for me to find a character that I don't at least feel something for sometime in the episode. Kuddos to the writers for making all characters more complicated.
ReplyDeleteSo true. I don't want the characters to drag through any more than the I want the show to. Cas has to have an integral role in this new season's mytharc or it will just hurt the character. What I don't want to see is Cas in the back seat of Metallicar every episode while they go kill the monster of the week.
ReplyDeletePeople didn't like Route 666 because it was poorly acted by the lead guest character and it had a truly stupid plot. Racist killer truck? Really. That sounded like a good idea to anyone? I don't know how it got past the brainstorming stage. A rare miss for SPN.
ReplyDeleteSo true. I see a chupacabra story in their future.
ReplyDeleteoh i agree with you 100% im just saying that i think this ep didnt help.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the first idea you posted... the big rap music? Nice, i could really see that
haha, I loved it actualy, yeah the acting was uk terrible, but i'm a big fan of every thing that touches racism. It just breaks my heart all the time and i keep hoping that this book, movie or episode made someone realize that race doesn t matter, lol
ReplyDeleteMaybe that explains the lack of voting. However, looking at the reactions at the bottom I would say that the vampires have awoken. It's time for this race to get up a bit of speed. No final should ever be like this.
ReplyDeleteoh wow, my friday morning at school every week lol
ReplyDeletewe could maybe ask some Superfans to vote for them lol. maybe 3000people. aahha, thats how confident I am
ReplyDeleteWell mission accomplished little soulder, bobye now
ReplyDeleteLMAO luv you LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Can't beleive i didn't see ur post hahaha, guess it was to long and i dismised it sorry. so i didnt read it all but yeah its true, i like that show hhaha.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your 10 other facts, wich only proves the impact of hot guys and twilight though HAAHAH Loved it when damon talked about it too ahaha
I´m so happy for Spn ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to say I´m really impressed about all the twitter action from the last two days!
You just have to love Supernatural AND the amazing fandom ;)
Vid #1 - At first I was thinking this is exactly why I didn't get past episode 3 in TVD. The girl was annoying. Both were scantily clothed and it seemed to be trading on the hot factor of Ian Sommerhalder alone. I did laugh when she said in airhead voice "You're like totally cool and so hot" and Damon answered "I know". Good job with the understated sarcasm. I also like how he says, "Your life is so pathetic" and she thinks he is being understanding. I expected the end but it was very satisfying and walking over her body was a nice touch. If I had more of a connection to the characters it probably would have been just as cathartic as when Sam beheads Paris Hilton.
ReplyDeleteVid #2 - Yikes! I did not see that coming until she looked at the ring. It made me jump. I'm guessing that the girl in this one is the evil doppleganger you were talking about in your post.
Vid #3 - Is this is the defining moment in Damon's character arc for season 1?
Vid #4 - I like Damon's character but it is a little hard for me to take him seriously when he seems half naked all the time. I also don't like the whoosh and camera flip when they are using their vampire speed. However, it does seem like a far better plot than 2 guys fighting over the same pair of girls. I'm not sure what it is that Katherine wants but it sounds intriguing.
Vid #5 - I like Damon's character but sometimes he seems over the top. Loved the "Unrequited love sucks" line. Didn't see much of Stefan but he seemed stiff in his acting. It could just be me or the scene though.
Thanks for sharing these videos. It is obvious that TVD goes beyond boy-girl-boy love triangle. I'm not sure that I will share your passion for this show because while it obviously has action, gore, and an overarching mytharc, it sounds a bit too angsty for me. I'm glad that whiny girl got killed but I couldn't stand it if she was in the story for longer than 5 minutes. Also I find it hard to take characters seriously when the CW is obviously pushing it the "take off your shirt so girls think you are pretty" angle. That's not the show's fault; that is the blasted CW. However, I have seen enough that I am intrigued so I will watch 3 more episodes and see where it goes from there.
I bought a 1070 Oldsmobile Cutlass a couple months ago, and I swear when I'm sitting inside it at night and listening to some Led Zeppelin (I'm a classic rock junkie) I feel just like I'm in the Impala :)
ReplyDeleteHERE HERE!!
ReplyDeletehahaha, man I adore SPN fans :)
That is one awesome comment/article!
ReplyDeleteI've watched TVD since the very beginning, when the Pilot aired in the fall. Yes, it was quite awful (I mean, I had epic lulz when the fog came), but I sticked to it, because I really have soft spot for vampires (I detest Twilight and I hate the fact that every time I say I love vampires, I also have to clarify that I hate Twilight, because otherwise people would just say "And here we have another retard who thinks vampires are supposed to sparkle -_-"). And I have to say I don't regret it. Each episode was better than the last one and the plot got really interesting. I know this will never be THE best show in the world, it sometimes get cheesy, but it's still fun to watch.
Lately TVD has turned more into a guilty pleasure for me, because of all the hype I see, but this article (yes, I call it article! ;D) has kinda restored my love for it.
But Supernatural still was, is and will be my #1 show!
"Did Kripke lose his mind?" That is the question every year isn't it. Nothing made me more infuriated than having to wait for Season 2 after he totally screwed us at the end of Season1. Yeah, you think things are well and then splat, Kripke comes around to just blow your mind and drive you crazy. It's a good thing the answer has always been the Kripster is quite sane and well in control of the party. I would have turned on him like a hellhound if his season opener hadn't justified the interminable hellatus that summer.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the answer, Mia!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, the pilot is a pile of horsepoo. It's the tv version of Twilight. Like I said, I almost stopped watching at that point, but I'm glad I didn't. I genuinely think that I have decent taste when it comes to movies and shows (Hey, I'm an SPN fan so I can't be that bad!) so it's the reason why I'm pimping TVD out. It starts off so bad but at the end of the season, it's an entirely different show.
Haha, I watched Smallville until S6 because a friend asked me to give it a chance but I never became truly passionate about it. Plus why the heck are they still calling it Smallville when none of the characters are ever there?! :D The show should've ended like three years ago. The only reason it's maintained a steady number of viewers is that the comic book fans eat up anything that has the DC logo on it, lol. And yeah, TVD is a whole lot better IMO and I can't see it treating its characters as poorly as Smallville treats its characters.
Haha, I love Jensen as well :) There's just something charismatic about Ian that just about makes me faint whenever I see him or hear him talk! :D Oh well. Jensen's a hunk, I'll give you that :) Dean was actually the one who drew me into SPN, lol.
The numbers in these polls - both the SPN vs TVD and Lost vs The Wire - make me very, VERY happy :)
ReplyDeleteEspecially the SPN vs TVD one! That makes this fan the happiest she's been in a LONG time *grins*
Zeppelin rules! (actually I like AC/DC, etc. better but Dean didn't teach Lucas those.)
ReplyDeleteNot a Smallville fan myself. I think it has run well beyond its course. Although, I do say that having Lana off did improve it. Still the new woman is no Lex Luthor. He was always my favorite character in Smallville. Chloe was good too.
ReplyDeletellol, I've never felt more sane in my life ahaha, I am not that crazy after all ;)
ReplyDeleteIf I ever meet them I really want to act normal and just say i little, i like your show or what ever. that makes them way more happy then AH I LOVE YOU YOU ARE SO HOT lol. anyway thanks for explaining
Hey, no need to be snarky since it's obvious that a lot of the TVD fans have voted for SPN :) Heck, I'm a regular at IMDb's TVD board and we actually made a whole thread where we encouraged people to vote for SPN against Lost :)
ReplyDeletelol right! I didn,t get that without the subtitles lol. :(.
ReplyDeleteI really need to put more classic rock on my ipod, I only have some songs of Fereigner,
OK now. I have already agreed to watch more of TVD. I cannot also watch more of Smallville. That would be like admitting the CW was a legitimate channel if I watched 3 shows on it.
ReplyDeleteyep, but happy to crush the competition mouwhaahaha and the evil laugh is back
ReplyDeletehey people, we just jumped into second place in most voted for polls with this final which isn't even that bad ;)
ReplyDeleteNope, she has no idea. They all thought Katherine was somewhere just slutting it up, lol. Aaand to complicate matters more, Katherine made out with Damon like two seconds before that so Damon also thinks that Elena has feelings for him. Oh and the guy Katherine stabbed is Elena's dad. The S2 premiere...It can go in so many different directions. Chances are that Damon's gonna be blamed for the whole thing anyways if Katherine decides to bail. Though I did hear that she'll likely be sticking around for the 2nd season so that'll definitely cause some issues for Elena. Two Elenas running around, one of them being a total psycho bitch who can handle a knife, lol. I love that biatch to death :D
ReplyDeleteOkay, these are the recommendations I gave to another SPN fan who wanted to start watching:
Fool Me Once (1x14)
Let The Right One In (1x17)
Blood Brothers (1x20)
And the finale :)
Oh and cause I'm an enormous tease :)
ReplyDeleteHere are the promos for all of the above recommendations cause I'm trying to get you pumped, lmao!
Fool Me Once: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3opVbo08Es
Let The Right One In: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWeOZzrgsUE
Blood Brothers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vtptnnb2kQ
To be honest, if you're looking for action, Blood Brothers isn't the best episode for that but I love it because it gives us some actual insight into Stefan and knocks him down from his pedestal, lol. I love the backstory that the brothers have so that's why I chose it :) Plus if my hypothesis stands true, you'll be hooked by 1x17 anyways :)
Anywho, I'm gonna go to sleep now since it's 2:28 am and to quote HIMYM, nothing good ever happens after 2am, lol. Congrats SPN fans!!
Agree, Hey I went to buy Dark angel today and it is NO WHERE to be found. I'm pissed.
ReplyDeleteyeah, I know that moment was awesome!!! I was like: yay, he pictures himself happy with Lisa, not Jo!! (you see, even though she was already dead for a couple of episodes, he still haunted me lol). And when he came to her in the finale, the way he said "hey Lisa" was so heartbreaking!! and the way she hugged him was so sweet ;) And plus, Lisa's huge advantage is Ben. I just love this kid, he rocks ;) wouldn't mind if they made a Ben-centric episode again ;)
ReplyDeleteI was being sincere :(
ReplyDeleteWow I reread it and i admit it sounds bitchy... in my head it was more chearful. I love TVD haha. And after reading the super long post about it I kinda feel like watching the serie again, what is going on with me. ah
