V - Season One Finale - Recap

When V was reintroduced back onto our screens earlier this year many were expecting the series to fail in comparison against the original series. Although the show only just escaped cancellation due to low ratings, I think V filled that Sci-Fi/mystery show void that seemed to be apparent during the previous TV season.

I have never watched the original series, so I can’t compare, but I can tell you my thoughts on the finale and the season as a whole.

The season started off great for me! It was definitely one of the better pilots of the year. As I was unfamiliar with the original series, I was unaware that the V’s were actually bad (Although it would make quite a lame TV show if they weren’t). I loved watching the mystery behind the Visitors unfold throughout the season. There were points when I just wanted to shout at the TV to try and tell everyone that Anna was bad - but I resisted – as it would be pointless.

I also enjoyed the Fifth Column story line. I loved seeing the group of characters work together to try and resolve mysteries around the V’s, it added a great mystery concept to the show! Although, there were points when I also wanted to shout at them to tell people that the V’s were bad! The Fifth Column helped to keep the storyline realistic, let’s be honest, would you really welcome Alien’s to our planet with open arms?

Overall, I thought the season finale was rather slow. I didn’t really think it had anything special or different in the storyline to make it a season finale apart from the ending. Anna’s eggs being destroyed was slightly predictable and so was Anna declaring war! I did shed a tear when Valerie died, I didn’t think that was needed! Although, it did leave a good cliff hanger for Morris, is he bad again?

I did also feel the finale lacked in answers. Why are the V’s here? What do they actually want? Saying that though, these unanswered questions do make me want to tune in again next year!

I rather loved the ending, I am rather annoyed however that we have to wait so long to find out what happens! I’m rather clueless as to what Anna did, apart from turning the sky red! Any ideas?

I was really impressed with V, I felt the pace was just right. I also love how it wasn’t just a simple Sci-Fi show, we got to learn about the characters and what they are dealing with! It makes you wonder what would happen if we really were invaded by aliens (I.E not taking part in the live abroad programme if offered).

I was really pleased to hear that the show got renewed, can you imagine it just ending there? I hate it when shows just end on a cliff hanger after falling in love with characters *coughs*Flashforward*coughs*.
