Let us know in the comments who you voted for and why. Do any of you remember the early Doctors?

And don't forget we have a large section for Doctor Who and Torchwood in the Forums

  1. Jon Pertwee for me.. yes I still remember him!

  2. I like Jon Pertwee (or what I know of him) but Matt Smith has really won me over with his performance

  3. This was my vote too, just barely ahead of Tom Baker. Pertwee just had a certain coolness and sense of control in his personality. I'm just surprised that the new Doctors are doing so well (which I admittedly don't know much about because I haven't really been able to get into). Is it that the new ones are SO much better, or just a sign that old school fans are vastly outnumbered by the new fans ? Probably, I guess !

  5. I'm a new fan so only seen the last two doctors, but prefer Matt Smith, just love his slight geekiness about him!

  6. Voted Tom Baker, his classic smile or long scarf. David Tennant is a good doctor.

  7. I guess it was the "wobbly set" cartoonish look and writing which put me off from the older series, but Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee were great Doctors ! I really started watching with Chris Eccleston. When he uttered the immortal phrase "Run !" I was hooked. The show became so real. I didn't want him to leave, but totally fell in love with David Tennant, who, I believe, completely became the Doctor. He made me laugh and cry and love. The show was so real !! I do like Tom Baker and Matt Smith, but the new series seems a throwback to the "wobbly set" era... which is a disappointment to me, but not to older fans. (That said, the cartoonish look fit perfectly with the Vincent story.) Ok, so my vote goes to David Tennant, but Troughton and Pertwee and Eccleston are my runner-up!

  8. David Tennant is the ultilmate Doctor !! His passion and energy, and the way he always solved the problem made him the hero. The way he agonized over deaths made him tragid. The way he got excited about the wonders of the universe made him loveable. Though I tip my hat to all those who came before, (most notabley Christopher Eccleston), and since, David will always be THE Doctor to me !!

  12. I voted for David Tennant.

William Hartnell was my first Doctor, but the concept of having a favourite Doctor didn't even occur to me until his Tenth incarnation (although Christopher Eccleston comes a very close second). David Tennant brought passion, compassion, empathy and energy to his Doctor along with a quirky alien-ness that previous Doctors hadn't quite pulled off, imo. His Doctor made me laugh and cry far more than any other, and enabling an audience to engage emotionally with a character is a sure sign of expertise in the actor portraying him/her/it.

I love them all, and I will always admire Hartnell's first doctor a bit more since he was the original. As for a personal favorite, I've always had the most fun watching Sylvester McCoy's 7th doctor.

  14. Thanks Jason,

Tom was one of my Favourites as well.

  15. I'm late on this one, but I loved David Tennant. Biased, because he's the Doctor I know the best but, what can you do? I liked him better than Matt Smith.

  16. Sad to see Paul McGann with so few votes but then again, he was only in one 'episode'. He's my favourite for sure, I just wish he'd been given more episodes. Anyway, he's very closely followed by Christopher Eccleston, Peter Davidson and Tom Baker. :)
