Day 7: And so we begin the polls for the final section of the first round, and boy have we had some shockers so far. Yesterday's poll 'The West Wing vs. LOST' broke the record for the number of votes, and totally eclipsed all the other three polls. The West Wing may have lost and be out, but it scored more than the total of each of the other polls. For a while, it had a 14% lead and over 200 votes, but as America woke up, the lead disintegrated. It's a shame for such a good show, I have seen the first season and thoroughly enjoyed it, and I wish it could have got further but like 'The Sopranos' and 'Friends' amongst others, we say goodbye for now. Through is therefore 'LOST' with a huge 2000+ votes, as well as 'Doctor Who', 'The OC' and in a very close battle that tossed an turned all day, comedy beat mystery as 'Seinfeld' eliminated 'Twin Peaks.'

Today in this post we have another overall winner pre-tournament favourite (not that that means anything it would appear :P) Supernatural taking on the short lived and very popular Freaks and Geeks. Can such an old and short lives show put up a fight? Guess we will find out. Also we have the Critically acclaimed Mad Men taking on Northern Exposure. In the other post we have Six Feet Under vs. NCIS & Mash vs. Carnivale. You can view that post here: Best Show Ever 1.4b
Supernatural vs. Freaks & Geeks
Supernatural

Seasons: 5 (ongoing)
Format: Supernatural drama, horror, action, adventure, thriller
Synopsis: Starring Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, the series follows the brothers as they hunt demons and other figures of the paranormal.
Fan Review: Raluca (Romania)
I think Supernatural is the best TV show ever, or should be at least in the top 3. Aside from all the monsters and mythology, Supernatural shows the concepts of family, moral values and human nature in a whole new light. One of the best things about the show is the chemistry that all the characters and actors have. Jensen and Jared were practically born to be Dean and Sam, and I don't know if anyone's noticed that except for Paris Hilton, the show doesn't have bad episodic characters/actors. Supernatural is about more than just two brothers hunting demons, it's about a family that extends outside the TV show and the set, all across the world, reuniting us fans. I love Supernatural because it is funny, thrilling, interesting and I think that Kripke [Eric Kripke - Creator] wanted to show us how he envisions the world and let us discover ourselves through the questions that he brought up through each episode. I could go on forever, but if it has to be short, I should stop here.
Freaks & Geeks

Seasons: 1 (Finished)
Format: Period Teen Drama
Synopsis: The show centered on a teenage girl, Lindsay Weir (Linda Cardellini), and her brother, Sam (John Francis Daley), both attending William McKinley High School during the 1980–1981 school year in the town of Chippewa, Michigan, a fictional suburb of Detroit.

Mad Men vs. Northern Exposure
Mad Men

It also depicts the changing social mores of 1960s America.

Northern Exposure

Seasons: 6 (Finished)
Format: Comedy-Drama
Synopsis: Northern Exposure began with a focus on Joel Fleischman as an audience-identification character for urban "lower 48" viewers, with storylines revolving around his fish-out-of-water difficulties adjusting to Alaska, and his hot-and-cold romantic involvements with Maggie O'Connell. As Northern Exposure continued, supporting characters such as Chris, Ed, Holling, Shelly, Maurice and Ruth-Anne (along with recurring characters such as Adam and Eve, Barbara Semanski and Bernard) received more development.

I voted for Supernatural because it's one of those shows that deserves to win, but never does. Mad Men was just an obvious choice.
ReplyDelete#supernatural of course! *cheers*
ReplyDeleteFreaks and Geeks was solid for what was there, but Supernatural ran for five years so its filler is excusable. It is also probably the only series I've seen that uses a religious (as opposed to science fiction) mythology arc while keeping it relevant and down to earth.
ReplyDeleteNorthern Exposure was excellent when it came out, but the majority of it is feeling a bit dated by now.
Easiest poll so far! Supernatural (Some people think Lost, The Shield, The Wire or Mad men is the best show ever, FOR ME it's this show) and Mad men since I never liked Northern Exposure.
ReplyDeleteSPN ALL THE WAY^^
ReplyDeleteFreaks and Geeks is good but Supernatural is just better!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love Mad Men so obvious choice there!
Look at the numbers! Freaks & Geeks is gaining votes over Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteMad Men is the only real choice :)

Aahhhh! There's only 8% in it now.!!! Maybe Supernatural will scrape through instead!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't change the fact in my opinion I think it's the best show around! :D!
We surely aren't saying goodbye to Supernatural too! This competition is throwing up shockers by the day. Shows what I know :P
ReplyDelete:D!! Yeah some shows are really pulling through quite surprisingly!!
ReplyDeleteNot here though! :D!
Supernatural 51% (853 votes)
ReplyDeleteFreaks & Geeks 49% (830 votes)
Total Votes: 1,683
They are really neck and neck.
Maybe we will have another surprise tomorrow.
I don't want to lose one more of my favorite shows :(
ReplyDeleteSupernatural fans, please wake up and vote.
The truth be known I used to watch Northern Exposure but I suspected many people voting here likely had never heard of it so I went with Mad Men. Still have never watched Mad Men, guess one of these days I will.
ReplyDeleteSo...there's polls that have been open for days, that I've voted on somehow, but when it finally comes to the show I actually care about, the poll is already closed? Can't help that I was stuck in a car all day yesterday.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, SUPERNATURAL FTW.
