Bracket Results

Congratulations to 'Arrested Development', 'The Office', 'Veronica Mars' & 'Glee' for making it through to the second round of the competition. I was surprised that 'Sex & the City' gained so few votes, but like 'The Prisoner', perhaps some fans have moved onto newer things. Also intriguing was the fact that two of the polls had over 1000 votes, whereas the others only had around 700/800. A possible hint at certain shows having bigger fanbases maybe?
For all those who have entered the competition, once the results are updated, you can check out how you are doing here: http://www.dawgsled.com/darkufo/welcome.asp
Anyhow....
Today, the second day of the competition we have in this post Sunny in Philidelphia taking on The Wire, and The Mentalist's battle with Buffy. I strongly expect The Wire to grind it's way into the next round, but can the old beat the new in the second poll?
Also today we have Firefly vs. 24, and Legend of the Seeker vs. Fringe To view that post and vote, head here: http://www.spoilertv.com/2010/06/best-show-ever-round-11c-firefly-vs-24.html

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia vs. The Wire
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Seasons: 5 (ongoing)
Format: Sitcom
Synopsis: The series follows the exploits of "The Gang", a group of self-centered friends who run Paddy's Pub, a relatively unsuccessful Irish bar in South Philadelphia.
User Reviews: None Submitted
The Wire

Seasons: 5 (Finished)
Format: Drama
Synopsis: Each season of The Wire focuses on a different facet of the city of Baltimore. They are, in order: the illegal drug trade, the port system, the city government and bureaucracy, the school system, and the print news media. The large cast consists mainly of character actors who are little known for their other roles. Simon has said that despite its presentation as a crime drama, the show is "really about the American city, and about how we live together. It's about how institutions have an effect on individuals, and how whether you're a cop, a longshoreman, a drug dealer, a politician, a judge or a lawyer, you are ultimately compromised and must contend with whatever institution you've committed to."

The Mentalist vs. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

In the story, Slayers are chosen by fate to battle against vampires, demons, and other forces of darkness. Like previous Slayers, Buffy is aided by a Watcher, who guides, teaches, and trains her. Unlike her predecessors, Buffy surrounds herself with a circle of loyal friends who become known as the "Scooby Gang".

  1. The Wire is the best show ever created, period. Simply amazing. I haven't watched Philadelphia yet (I plan on watching it this summer) but even if this comedy is great, it can't be nowhere near the genius of The Wire.

Buffy is not perfect like the Wire, but it is trully a great show as well. Almost all the main characters throughout its 7 seasons are strong and well-written, the cast is fabulous too. Even if the 1st season sucked and even if season 6 was a huge disapointment (besides several tremendous episodes, like the musical one which is the best episode ever), Buffy the Vampire Slayer rocks. The Mentalist can't stand a chance.

For now my votes are : The Wire, Buffy, 24 and Fringe.

  2. I have to say, I am surprised that The Mentalist has turned this round. Buffy was very popular in the Nomination phase.

  3. Voted for The Wire and Buffy. I never watched Sunny and had only heard about The Wire, so I voted for The Wire. I'm sure it's a great show, I'm just not interested into crime dramas, that's all but I believe it's a great show. The same goes for The Mentalist, crime stuff, not interested. So I voted for Buffy.

  7. ONFG!!!!!!! When I voted for The Mentalist, it had no chance of winning whatsoever. Some 26% or so. Now, I log in only to see over a thousand votes in favor of The Mentalist. Thats good news to me! :)

  8. I have not seen Buffy but The Mentalist is a great show; the best detective/procedural show I have seen.

P.S: I did not expect The Mentalist to beat Buffy in a million years, I thought Buffy was a lot more popular than The Mentalist.

  9. WTF!? How did Buffy lose to the freakin' Mentalist!? I thought the Whedonites would have bolstered the votes until it went all the way to the finals! Ughhhh
