How I Met Your Mother - Making 'Mother' plans?

For once, I'm probably not jerking your chain with that title.

How I Met Your Mother co-creator Carter Bays tells me that the sitcom's central mystery is about to be solved. Or rather, resolved. At least kinda-sorta.

"At the end of the season, we will address the title of our show," reveals Bays, adding that the last four episodes will feature "big events in the lives of our characters -- specifically Ted (Josh Radnor). We're going to wrap up some things that have been left dangling."

Translation: I think the M-bomb's about to be dropped!

Bays wouldn't elaborate on the nature of the revelation (i.e. will the mom actually be ID'd?) or how it might figure into this season's cliffhanger. "But I will say at the very least that the season will end with a complete sentence," he teases. "We've left some sentence fragments dangling in past seasons, but this year, there will either be a period, a question mark or an exclamation point. We will be giving the audience that."

Thoughts on what that sentence could be? Do you think we'll actually meet the mother or just learn more about her? Are you happy the show is getting back to its primary conceit? Sound off below!

  1. I think it'll just be about the Goat... if they bring on the Mother now what left will there to be shown?

  2. I really doubt they will ID the mother. Maybe it'll be another teaser like the yellow umbrella. But if it's true I'm glad they are getting Ted back into the tick of things, he really hasn't had much to do this season, after Stella left. But I can't complain b/c I LOVE the Barney/Robin storyline!

If everything I have heard about the season finale is true, it should be awesome: a little bit of the goat, a little bit a Barney/Robin, and a little but of the mother... nice!

  6. I don't understand people's obsession with Robin being the mother. She's not, and I wouldn't want her to be. I hated the Robin-ted relationship.

  7. ^ i think people still hope she s the mother..cuz cmon..1st season we watched how crazy ted was for her..2nd season they wre dating n imo it was the best season of the series..then at the first episodes of 3rd we saw how hard it was to get over Robin..so now it s the 4 th season..we vent seen anyone having such deep, romantic connection with ted yet..so its understandable every1 wishes she was the mother..

but she belongs with Barney..right from the 1st season when she was his wingwoman...it was obvious..

  8. ^^Totally agree. Robin's not the mother, she belongs with Barney. It's been obvious since season 1!!
Barney:"We both think the marriage thing is a drag, we both want something casual and fun, and we clearly get a long really well"
Robin: "Wow that actually does make a lot of sense"

Robin said it her self! :)
