Thanks to Elena and http://www.mycoven.com/ for the heads up

Season 10 begins with Sam’s frantic search for his missing brother, who is gone without a trace. The road to recovering the wayward Dean takes Sam down dark paths, with consequences that will shake the boys to their core. Meanwhile, Castiel has to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of Metatron’s campaign. With his grace failing and rogue angels still on the loose, Cass will face the ticking clock of his own mortality as all-new threats emerge to once again push all of our heroes to their limits.

  1. "Rogue Angels still on the loose". Darn. I was really hoping we were finished the Angel crap. But at least Sam is looking for Dean this time so that's good!

  2. Ooh, season ten sounds like it's going to be dark and fun.

And it's Cas, not Cass. I - and many others - reject that spelling because it's stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Agree, was really hoping angels endless and pointless stories are done. Oh well..
    Liked the part "

  4. Pretty sure as long as Misha is on the show Angels will continue to be a fairly big part of the show.

  5. SInce TPTB always write Cass and not Cas, I guess the fans need to accept that it's Cass and not Cas.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Since the end of season 9, I was very afraid that Sam and Dean will be separated and this synopsis really confirms my fears. I really really hope it won't last long because half a season of Sam and Dean apart, I won't stand it.

Do we still have to get the awful boring angels story crap?

    ReplyDelete
  7. LOL, that's never going to happen. They've been saying it's "Cass" for years (literally) and we have never ever used it. It's Cas.

I hope this isn't the repeat of Sam's arc in S3/S4-a slippery slope driven by good intentions.

  9. This is kind of theme of this show, isn't it?

  10. can someone explain to me why fans think dean storyline will be dropped when sam starts looking for him? we have to figure dean and crowley left together and he will be with crowley for a time now that mark is a cast member this season. but i doubt you can drop the storyline so quickly. good lord its a brief description and its like oh my god no more demon dean. demon dean can go for half the season at least.and agree sick of rouge angels want cas with sam and dean.

  11. Sam and Dean separately for a while would be nice refreshment for me. We need to get back Sam-Sam :hunter, thinker, warrior. This is a nice chance for him to finally figure out who he is and what his priorities are.

    ReplyDelete
  12. No we don't. The angel's name is Castiel. Cas is a nickname given to Cas by Dean, not a formal name. Unless the characters have agreed to a spelling convention (which I highly doubt), it doesn't have a correct spelling.

    ReplyDelete
  13. The seasons 3/4 arc had an element of naivete with Sam not knowing what consequences using his powers would have. There's no more naivete on this show and Sam has shown no signs of still being driven by a need for power, so I don't think it could be the same story. The biggest difference between Dean's arc last year and the previous arcs of Sam and Cas is that Dean seemed to choose his dark path knowingly. If Sam goes down a dark path, I think his eyes would be wide open this time.

There's been a blur between good and evil for a while now, with hunters portrayed as murderers and demons sometimes more sympathetic than angels. It would be a nice change to see both Sam and Dean deliberately finding some balance and acceptance rather than always fighting their world.

    ReplyDelete
  14. There seems to be a paranoia on the fandom that if Sam says "Boo" he suddenly "has the mytharc" and the focus will shift to Sam. I don't get why some fans can't except both brothers having a role in the story at the same time. I don't think Dean's story will be dropped quickly.

Last thread of hope I had for continuing to watch was just dashed. I'm tired of the separate story lines for Cas and Sam and Dean. It chops up the show and IMO, the angel story is boring. I was hoping to see Cas and Sam working together, but of course not. I really hope I hear good things from fans I follow on twitter, but I won't be watching. Hopefully these spoilers are just misleading, but I lost faith mid-way through season 8.

  16. 1 • "Season 10 begins with Sam’s frantic search for his missing brother"
    - I love how once, Sam didn't bother to search his ever-so-missing bro at all, but now all the time of mutual awkwardness and hating on each other has finally gotten Sam to "search frantically".

2 • "recovering the wayward Dean takes Sam down dark paths"
    - Ah, now I know where that sexy new lady that was recently cast comes in! I bet we see Sam having an ... affair ... and struggling ... with ... falling in ... love ...

3 • "consequences that will shake the boys to their core"
    - Oh no! After 9 seasons of brotherly loveliness and friendship, this one will be major!

4 • "Castiel has to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of Metatron’s campaign"
    - Why? Can't he just enjoy a movie at the cinema?

5 • "Cass will face the ticking clock of his own mortality as all-new threats emerge"
    - Uh, that sounds as if he will finally encounter horrifying threats like real estate agents and ticket machines! Maybe he will also have to face a failing bladder ... but I hope he won't be killed off or something like that!

6 • "push all of our heroes to their limits."
    - Ah, alright then. Only pushing to limits, no mortal danger. Whew!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm guessing Cas will have occasional episodes of working with Sam, and that Cas will be used as a consultant the way he was used in season 6 by Dean when Dean was trying to deal with Sam's missing soul. The problem with splitting the "save Dean" storyline equally between Sam and Cas is that they would be diminishing Sam's role, as well as the focus on the brother relationship.

I was hoping from what I saw in the finale that the angels might become involved in Dean-demon story because of their reaffirmed mission to protect humanity - and that Cas would be facing a conflict of whether to kill evil Dean (the angels' mission) or try to protect him. That would be an organic conflict between Cas' role as an angel and his friendship with Dean, and would give him his own place in the storyline, which wouldn't be redundant to Sam's role.

It could still happen though. With the possible exception of the line about Sam being taken down some dark paths, most of this summary reads like just the season opener rather than a long-range synopsis.

I agree, but I'm kind of relieved that it looks like it won't be Dean lying to Sam about his "new kind of life". IMO, it's better Sam looking for Dean and trying to save him than what we had this past 2 seasons with all the lying and ressentiment.

That being said, I hate them apart too, so hopefully it won't last too long.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Miss Supernatural10 July 2014 at 15:47

I think their storyline are always intertwined. As an example, Sam's trials (with Dean as his support) brought Ezekiel/Gadreel, Dean's guilt and fall and now Sam's searching to save him.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I really hoped that they wouldn't stretch this angel storyline but looks like that ain't gonna happen.Just hoping that the tone of the show would become a little darker and less comedic like it's earlier years with dean turning into a "Demon".Fingers crossed!!!

  22. oh crap......

    ReplyDelete
  23. he was slaughtered when he didn't look for Dean last season and now he's looking for him...... and oh look he's being slaughtered......sigh...

    ReplyDelete
  24. I agree with this for seasons 1-6 and think it's the way it should be. I think there were some exceptions in recent seasons though, when one of the brothers seemed artificially uninterested or clueless as to what was going on with the other.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I dont care if Sam and Dean are seperated as long as Sam gets something to do and a POV, this seems promising.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Miss Supernatural10 July 2014 at 16:22

Yeah, sadly. I liked how you said it "artificially uninterested" because it made them so out of character.

Still, one is consequence of the other, which was kind of what I meant.

  27. Miss Supernatural10 July 2014 at 16:27

I won't ever forgive Carver for what he did to Sam since the Season 8 Premiere, but if Sam searches for Dean this time and save him like it's being promised, I'll be less unhappy with him (Carver, to be clear)

    ReplyDelete
  28. "- and that Cas would be facing a conflict of whether to kill evil Dean

I would be so, so very happy if they were to do this! I like Cas, but so often I feel like his story line exists in it's own little bubble with no real relevance to what's going on with the other characters.

  29. We will just wait and see. I just know I never liked the episodes where they are apart. What I really don't want to see is 3 different stories: Dean and Crowley, Sam looking for him and Cass and his boring angels story. It was hard enough to stomach the angels storyline last season but doing 3 different storylines this season, no no no.
Besides I can't imagine all episodes being about the story-arc. There are always some fill in episodes, Sam can't hunt monster of the week if Dean is not here, it would mean Sam don't care all other again like season 8. I still haven't accepted it.
One more thing, the 2OOth episode must be about the brothers, the bro relationship is the heart of the show, season 9 has been heartless, I can't imagine all season 10 being lake this and really hope that this episode will be special for the brothers.
But you are right I was also afraid Dean would lie to Sam about being a demon and Sam would look stupid again.
I realize I don't trust Carver because since he took the reign I am afraid of everything he will do to mess our show.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well I suppose in the script where it was written Dean calls Castiel "Cass", it was written this way so sure it wasn't written on the screen but it is not our place to decide to rewrite a name.
I don't see the bid deal anyway, Cas or Cass, it's the same. The important thing is that they give him an other storyline because his is actually boring.
I am the feeling this story has for only purpose to give J2 some time off.

    ReplyDelete
  31. "...I don't trust Carver because since he took the reign I am afraid of everything he will do to mess our show."

I don't trust him either. Too many times I've read or heard a spoiler and thought "Oh boy, I can't wait to see that!". Then when the episode airs they totally screw it up by either blatantly ignoring established canon, pacing the story erratically with way too much filler or writing the brothers totally out of character.

    ReplyDelete
  32. It's not a big deal. I was mostly joking in responding earlier. In most cases, I honor the show's official spelling, but I see the fact that this is just a nickname created by Dean as a loophole. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Just wanted to add that my guess is that this probably just means that Sam is following Dean's trail and discovering that Dean did some very dark things.

    ReplyDelete
  34. thetrenchcoatofcastiel10 July 2014 at 18:06

I am SICK of Cas' storyline being separate from the brothers'! Of course, I love when he's on screen (he's my favorite character), but it's too jarring to go from one plot to a completely different plot all in the span of five minutes. Either merge the plots together and keep Cas with Sam, or give Cas his own spin-off show. But STOP with the two different plots!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. well crowley took advantage of dean being a demon already, he probably took him

    ReplyDelete
  36. If the total Leviathan population could be wiped out off screen, the rogue angels could be dealt with off to the side as well. This says to me either the writers are completely out of ideas on what to do with Cas, or this is just a poorly planned set up for some development that will be more relevant. And I'm taking the Cas-mortality threat about as seriously as I took the idea that Sam might die in the season 9 premiere or Dean might die in the finale. We know Misha's under contract. The jig is up.

    ReplyDelete
  37. horrified saying that dean's a demon

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yes! I wanted Crowley to disappear with Demon!Dean. Glad my wish has come true.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Which is why I hope that if there's more seasons after S10, that the angel storyline is done and Castiel either decides to help the angels in Heaven, or ends up dying this season. The angel storyline has to go, imo.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm not happy with the boys being separated, but am not entirely surprised. My biggest worry is how long Dean will be a demon. It better not be the whole season.

I agree with whoever said that the 200th better be something special. As much as this pains me because I'd rather they not be apart that long, maybe this will be the episode that Sam finally catches up to Dean. And convinces him to come back to the bunker.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Miss Supernatural11 July 2014 at 00:49

Oh, we agree more than you think! I feel the same. I don't trust Carver either and the brothers relationship IMO is the heart and soul of the show. I'm not even a little bit happy that Dean just... woke up and left Sam like that. I think I'm just sort of relieved that it looks like there won't be lies between them regarding Dean's predicament, (I hope) which is at last one good thing.

I believe that they won't be apart for too long, I think Sam will find him and maybe convince Dean to work together? Maybe that's what the "recovery" part is about. And then it'll be more or less like season 6 with Soulless!Sam. I can't say I like it either. I hate Dean becoming a demon. Hate it. *Deep sigh*

Maybe the 200th episode will be about Sam curing Dean, but I don't think I'll be that lucky. I think Dean will stay a demon at last for a half a season. Though if I had my way, he would be "my" Dean already in the second episode... Or never becoming a demon at all. :'( I'm rambling, sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yup sounds about what I expected from season 10 of Supernatural. The demon Dean stuff has some potential but the rest is business as usual for the show.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Has everyone forgotten that the end of Season 9 ended with Dean "waking up" dead and a Demon?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Castiel is NEVER dying. They'll never do anything that effing dumb and make it stick. He's just way too popular. I say this as someone who never liked him and am fairly just accepting he's never gonna not be on the series from now on.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Damned if he does, damned if he don't ..

    ReplyDelete
  46. He is also looking for someone who was a corpse right before they pulled a vanishing act.

    Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Bobby was always far more popular than Cas and he died. It's silly to think Cas has to stay alive just because he was popular. Besides, there is no room for interesting stories if one little popular character can't die.

    ReplyDelete
  48. This storyline makes too much sense, dude. Therefore, it'll never be on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Well, Castiel the angel can die, but the vessel Jimmy Novak can still live.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'd rather have Jimmy around. I actually kinda liked him, the few scenes he had in the show.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Well, if the corpse of your dead brother all of a sudden disappeared wouldn't you franticaly search for it?

    ReplyDelete
  52. I don't think the whole Leviathan pop. was wiped out. I choose to think the once that are still around are just hiding.

    ReplyDelete
  53. There is an interesting story to be done about life after angel possession, especially for the things Cas did.

    ReplyDelete
  54. With his family having moved on, it'd be kinda neat to see Jimmy fall in with the Winchesters. They teach him the hunter life, he finds a new calling. At least Misha Collins's character's storyline wouldn't be separate from the Winchesters'. They can do an angel storyline that isn't about angels, which would be great.

    ReplyDelete
  55. thesilentpoethosea11 July 2014 at 08:41

    YES. THIS.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I am so with you, I don't like Dean as a demon ever. I like him fun, strong, human, caring.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Dunno, I don't have a brother. But as a current writer on the show, I'd consider humane and logic behavior somewhat out of character for Sam =)

    ReplyDelete
  58. The other spoilers are suggesting you are likely right, we'll just learn what Dean was doing for a few episodes that Sam is trying to track him down via Sam questioning people and via flashbacks of Dean. Sam isnt lead down a dark path himself he's just following and discovering Dean's dark path. As afr as Sam's storyline goes I think it is basically following Dean around learning what he did untill they are reunited then they will have to deal with hunting (MOTW episodes0 together with Dean as demon. I guess Sam will have to make some kind of an attempt to save Dean a long the line.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Count me in as not liking Dean being a demon. I, too, would love it if Dean became OUR Dean by episode 2. But we had Sam soulless for 11 episodes and Gadreel was in him for 9 episodes, so I figure I can grudgingly hold out for that long, but any longer and it will not be pretty.

    ReplyDelete
  60. And that baffles me. I've always heard about fans loving Bobby and then all of a sudden a minority of fans were so dang paranoid in season seven when Castiel supposedly died. Imo, it has everything to do with Misha Collins being attractive than it does with just Castiel as a character. And it has more to do with the "fangirls" of the series panicking over the thought.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I don't think Jimmy can either. Back in "The Rapture", it sure didn't sound like Jimmy would be able to come out of this alive and well once Castiel ever died.

    ReplyDelete
  62. No offense, but what would the point be story-wise for doing that? If characters are brought in, it should be because they have purpose in the plot and are needed to advance or support the story. They shouldn't just hang around because the actor is popular.

    ReplyDelete
  63. If this is true, this is backward. Cas should be on the show because he has an important role in the angel storyline, and the angel storyline is important to the Winchesters' journey. The angels shouldn't be on the show only because they give Cas something to do.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I don't think we've gotten spoilers much further out than the first episode or two, but I'm cynical based on what's happened in recent years.

    ReplyDelete
  65. From what I've seen, the Cas fans that are big shippers don't really care about Misha. I've posed the the Jimmy replacing Cas question before, and have gotten the answer that they would quit, despite claiming to be fans of Misha.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I've never met any Cas fans that didn't have an uber crush on Misha and I've been to a few cons here and there, so this actually surprises me to say some of the fans aren't fans of Misha at all.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I will die of shock if this happens. I'd be happy to see it ... then die of shock.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I've been a big fan of lots of TV show and movie characters and have had
no interest in/fanship of the actors/actresses outside of that particular role, so I think it's possible. In the sect of the character's fans that aren't convinced the show didn't have a pulse until Castiel stepped onto the screen in season four, it's probably more likely.

    ReplyDelete
  69. When all else fails (like, you know, getting decent writers who effing CARE about all characters equally), go back to the old mine and sweep up the dust.

    ReplyDelete
  70. My biggest concern is what are they going to do about Jared's shoulder? Since they are starting with episode 3, my guess is that he won't be able to move it... They have to do something. Wearing a cast in Season two ended up being no more than a distraction, but not being able to be truly active will be tough. No chases, no fights, no serious intimidation...

I think they will have his stunt guy play Sam in episode one for the time it takes to have Dean break his arm, then Sam will be interviewing people and poking on the computer until Jared's arm heals. That means that Castiel has to be kept away from Sam or fail to heal him... and Jared will be off screen a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I don't think it will be that drastic. He dislocated his shoulder, can take a few weeks to heal from but that's typically with full dislocation. If it's just minor, it might not effect him all that much.

    ReplyDelete
  72. According to Cliff, he dislocated it and broke it. A recent photo from Vancouver showed Jared looking like he has dropped 50 pounds and he has a fairly sturdy sling with straps for stabilization. I'm sure he can do the FBI questioning, but sneaking, running, and definitely fighting have got to be off the table for the near future unless he takes care of it during filming... If he has something in the script that has him get hurt without the angelic cure... they could keep it strapped and secure. Then more options open up.

Of course, it never occurred to me they would send him into a pool with the cast and thy did...

    ReplyDelete
  73. While my favorite season is the fifth season, it also had nothing to do with Castiel either. I just hope people actually watch the series because of Sam and Dean and not because of supporting characters.

    ReplyDelete
  74. According to Cliff he dislocated it and broke it. There are recent shots of him in Vancouver where it looks like he has lost 50 pounds and his arm is in a serious sling that looks like it has straps for further stabilization.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Stop trying to make "Cass" happen, it's not going to happen!

    ReplyDelete
  76. That's what they like to claim, that the show was on the verge cancellation before Misha came on, and the ratings got higher. Which is laughable, because for one, the show has always been on the verge of cancellation, Kripke didn't think he would make it to season 3, and season 3 was looking like it could be the last because of the writers strike -- regardless even the Misha years the threat of cancellation loomed every year.

And two, while there was a spike in the ratings from season 3 to season 4, when season 5 came along the ratings went right back down to season 3 levels. As for the ratings for season 7, Friday night death slot coupled with pretty much no promotion = shit ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I hate this thing too.
