E! News can exclusively reveal that Lost's nosebleed queen Charlotte, a k a Rebecca Mader, has been tapped to play the newest villain going up against Storybrooke's forces of good. The actress, who will be on for multiple episodes, will be reuniting with many of her former island mates when the spellbinding series returns from its winter hiatus in March. We are told she will be a major character, with a major arc, and it's a meaty role.

Although we cannot tell you which iconic fairytale villain Mader will portray, (we're being kept on super-secret lockdown!) we can tell you that you will find out the twisted answer soon enough! Fans will get their first glimpse at the actress' evil ways when they tune-in to Once Upon a Time's mid-season finale airing Dec. 15.

Following the sure-to-be mesmerizing episode, Mader's fairytale identity will be revealed in an action-packed promo that will tease the long road of adventures our characters will face in the second half of the season. Trust us, you definitely don't want to miss this jaw-dropping reveal!

  1. She actually looks like the animated Ursula from the Ariel episode...

  2. Not the first "Fringie" on the show and I am hoping she won't be the last. John Noble and Lana Parrilla sharing scenes is nr. 1 on my wish list but ALL OF THEM should/can come.

  3. Yay!! She'll be great in this!!!!!

  4. I have a feeling I'm really going to hate this.

  5. Ah, but she's a Fringie and a LOSTie!

  6. YES!!!! Wonder who she's playing? (hope it's not Ursula. Hope it's somebody unexpected or *new) She was so deplorable as Jessica Holt on Fringe, but such a go-getter as Charlotte S. Lewis on LOST, can't wait for this!!!!

  7. I actually wished them to stop bringing in new characters (though I was happy to hear about Rapunzel), so I'm not sure how I feel about this.

I think she'll probably be related to Rapunzel, either being the bad witch who imprisones her or another character if the story is played out differently.

  8. Good call about her playing a witch and having it relate to Repunzel!!!! XD

Thinking about it, she does seem similar cast-type to other 'witch-like' characters we have seen, like the blind women from Hansel and Gretel (True North) and the Seer Rumple killed and took her powers from (Man Hatten) -And isn't there another episode title coming up relating to New York? -"New York City Serenade" (Bruce Springsteen Song reference) ...

  9. A new villainess appearing in the mid-season finale, perchance to cast the new curse? And, wasn't Cruella also in the list of characters who'd join the show over the course of season 3?

  10. Wicked Witch from "The Wizard of Oz"

  11. Yay!! One of my favourites from Lost will be back on TV, i'm very happy with this.

  12. ".... the long road of adventures......"

I feel as though that little line there is a hint. Perhaps she'll be an evil Glinda from The Wizard of Oz>

  13. Ooh, I can see her being someone from Wizards of Oz. Good guess! I couldn't figure it out.

  14. Another actor from LOST. YES! :D

  15. "twisted answer"...I'm going with the Wicked Witch of the West (or something) from Oz.

  16. Excellent news. We need a new villain to shake things up. Pan has actually been a great antagonist, but unfortunately, he's been saddled with a less-than-compelling story arc. Mader can definitely handle evil (she was pretty spine-chilling in her role on Fringe, once her motivations were revealed), and she's an extremely capable actress. So, theories, anyone? Honestly, I'm not sure I can think of any iconic Disney villains who haven't appeared thus far.

  17. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say she's gonna be Yzma. I love for the show to revisit theScience vs. Magic arc.

  18. My guess would be Morgan le Fay. They've shown Lancelot in early S2, made mention of Camelot in 3x02, so I think it'd possible they'd put more Arthurian legends in OUAT. That'd be awesome. :-D

My second guess would be Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West. I'd love to see some of Oz in OUAT. :-D

And I seriously had a fangirl moment when I saw Rebecca Mader's name. I was like, "Oh, crikey, I KNOW that actress!! Who, who, who?? Then I recognized her as soon as I saw that picture, and I was like, "First she was in Lost, then in Fringe, and now OUAT?? With a major arc and a meaty role?? This is like a Christmas present from my favorite TV shows. :-D I can't wait to see her in the next part of S3; I hope she won't disappoint!!! <3

  19. That was my first guest too, Ursula.

  20. That's a cool idea too!

  21. They have SO many great Bad Robot alumni! It's like Christmas for me too! XD

  22. I def hope we get back to that, because I think it was a real interesting idea, especially when one takes the Arthur C. Clarke approach, which basically establish them as the same thing, except that 'magic' is something 'yet' to be [quantum mechanically] explained! It's more about purpose and action then the tools of either science or magic IMO.

  23. Well, they did say that the Neverland/Peter Pan arc will end with the first half of the season. So we do need a new villain.I wonder though if she's somehow connected to Pan and she takes over when/if he's defeated or if it's a completely new story line.
In any case we won't have to wait long to see...

  24. She is such a great actress, and funny to boot! (lol at her Peter Bishop audition) So glad to see her again in my screen.

As some had suggested, she could be related to Rapunzel, Gothel perhaps?

  25. Well, they do have to bring new villains if they are going to make Rumple and Regina good (ish)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Evil Glinda? don't you just mean Glinda? Cause that witch was the most evil character!!

I kid, but I do love the alternate interpretations for Glinda, it really makes her look like an asshole.

  27. This is great news, I really liked her as Charlotte on Lost although that wasn't really a popular opinion! She does villain very well though, this should be good to see!

  28. I only know that I will miss very much Peter Pan / Robbie Kay ...... for me will always be the true villain of this third season

    fabulous actor and great character.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Maybe she will be the replacement for Pan then, because I can (sadly, i love Robbie) see them killing him off. Really interested into who she's going to be. I've seen a few people guess that she could be the Wicked Witch Of The West from Oz, which would be interesting!

  30. It honestly doesn't matter to me who she's playing. I'm always pleased to see her pop up on shows I watch.

  31. Theories so far:
Cruella de Vil - stated to be in s3
    Mother Gothel - Rapunzel's step-mother
Someone from Oz - a witch or maybe even a deranged Dorothy
Ursula - I hope not, I want Yvette Nicole Brown for this!
Morgan le Fay - maybe, Arthur/Excalibur were mentioned and we had Lancelot
Young Maleficent - probably not, we just need more Kristin Bauer
Aurora's Mother - Regina said the original Sleeping Beauty bested Maleficent, I would be interested in this. But we haven't had much Maleficent/Aurora even though we should!
Lady Tremaine - we haven't had much Cinderella, so probably not
Yzma - kind of out of nowhere but possible
Elsa or Anna - probably too soon for Frozen
Merida - she does have the accent, hair, and bad-ass demeanor

But I'm just excited to see Charlotte from Lost!
