  1. That's good it should be renewed I love this show and its still going good even after 8 years

  2. I don't mind if it'll be renewed, but when it ends I hope they'll announce the last season as such beforehand, and not decide to cancel it mid-way through due to ratings or something. End it with dignity.

  3. Glad to hear that, since I enjoy season 8.

  4. That's how I feel about it. There's usually something big that isn't resolved at the end of each season (with the exception of 5, I guess), and I'd hate to be frustrated by lack of closure at the very end.

  5. Season 9 is not in doubt. The WB is making money off of it. It is the third highest ranked show on the CW. The actors have signed contracts so there's no surprises money wise. I'm more positive than last year that SPN will be renewed. In fact when it was renewed last year my only question was whether it would get to season 10. The CW does love it's final season celebrations. If they don't announce season 9 as the final, then the safe bet is that there will be a season 10.

  6. The CW loves its final season announcements. No worries. Supernatural will get the ending fanfare that Smallville, One Tree Hill, and Gossip Girl got.

  7. We are barely into season 8! Season 9 talk is just wayyyyy too soon!

  8. So that's basically 2 more seasons of endless complaints from the "fans". Yeah, can't wait. :)

  9. hey dahne do you think there is a posible that season 9 is the final season ?

  10. Not dahne, but I think it will go to 10, at least. The ratings went up with the move to Wednesday. Jared and Jensen are under contract through season 10, so no re-negotiations. Jeremy Carver just signed on for this season, so he should be locked in for a while. The show makes a lot of money from Netflix, DVD's and international syndication and it gets higher with more seasons. Unless something really unexpected comes up, I think Supernatural will get 9 and 10.

  11. i really love the show and i do hope it gets renewed but i still dont hope it goes to season 15 or 16 because thats to long but i hope it gets 2 more seasons.

  12. There is a very slim possibility in my opinion. If it is, it will be announced as the final season at Upfronts in May. The biggest thing that would keep Supernatural from going to season 10 would be the actors wanting more time to spend with their growing families. However, since they already have a contract through season 10 that shouldn't be a problem. Everything else is looking good for season 10, especially if the ratings stay at an 0.8 or better when most shows go through the spring slump. SPN usually avoids the major spring slump so if past history has anything to say about it we are likely to stay at or above an 0.8 average. If ratings go down in season 9 I still think we will get a season 10 due the CW's penchant for announcing final seasons for their long-lasting shows, and Supernatural is definitely their longest lasting show now.

  14. Quite frankly I think 2016 is the real issue, since that's when we find out if the CW itself is going to stay on the air. It is possible that Supernatural will end when the CW does.

  15. what do you mean i have never heard about this, what do you mean?? could the channel go off air

  16. I'll be happy as long as it stays a good quality show and it has been. I love this season. Pedowitz loves the show so that's a bonus. I think the decision for nine has been made. It's happened before. Once, Jared let the cat out of the bag. Jensen's comment on a hiatus let it out this time.

  17. I've thought that as well. I could see Supernatural going out with the CW. It would be fitting for it to be the only scripted show that started before the CW and ends with the CW. Just as long as they have enough notice to do a decent wrap up.

There are some days I can see the CW shutting down and Supernatural going on Netflix. It just seems to keep chugging along.

  18. I don't see it going past 11 seasons at the most. Generally I think it will end at 10, because they will have shot over 200 episodes, the 3-year story arc Jeremy claims he has will be over, Jensen and Jared's contracts will be up for renegotiation, and likely some major affiliates will be pulling out of the CW altogether. Still, that's just my prediction. Supernatural tends to have 9 lives itself.

  19. I think the CW will know its own fate well in advance to give shows their proper farewell. I'm not sure about Netflix being the cure-all for shows that end. I guess we will have to see how Arrested Development does. I like the concept of being able to see all episodes in a season at once and I think Jensen and Jared would love to have fewer episodes per season. It would give them time to spend with their families and pursue other career options while still keeping the fandom actively supporting SPN and promoting everyone and everything in it.

  20. The CW has contracts with the stations (affiliates) that air their shows. They pay the CW for the rights to air those shows but their contracts end in 2016. Sadly for the CW, most of these stations get more viewers and better demos from the things they air that are not CW shows. For instance, my CW channel airs repeats of Big Bang Theory and 2.5 Men. Both of these actually get better ratings than any of the CW's shows. Because of this some affiliates have already pulled out of the CW and it is likely that others will too. Some theorize that the CW is looking to become the first real online network but that doesn't seem feasible given that they do not make enough money through online sales to sustain the cost of purchasing these shows. Basically the future of the CW is very much still up in the air. The CW desperately needs at least 3 new shows capable of besting Vampire Diaries in the ratings, which is why they needed both Beauty and the Beat and Arrow to be big hits. They have to show the affiliates that they can bring in an ample number of viewers at least on Monday-Thursday.

  21. but the networks abc, cbs, nbc and fox dosent end in 2016?

    ReplyDelete
  22. No. I'm not even sure if their affiliate contracts get renewed all at the same time. The CW had a definite beginning date, as did FOX. The other networks are so old I'm not sure that their affiliates all started at the same time. Wouldn't matter anyway because these networks get far above the ratings of the CW and are more likely a good return on investment for their affiliates. The CW started in September of 2006 and they have 10 year contracts with their affiliates. That means that in 2016 those contracts will be up and affiliates will have to decide whether they want to continue with the CW or come up with different programming.

  23. So Supernatural is the new Smallville in that it they keep bringing it back even though it should've ended seasons before.

    ReplyDelete
  24. more seasons are likely but its better to wait for confirmation and not just assume that the show will be renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The running joke is that Supernatural will go 11 seasons just so Jensen and Jared can tease Tom Welling about it. I think they'll tie at 10 seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yay! I think there'll be ten seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Haha, that would be pretty funny, even I would support that.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm quite confident it's getting renewed... like 95% sure about it...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Then you are 5% more sure than Dean was when he was about to stab himself in What is and What Should Never Be. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  30. This is generally when renewals get talked about, so not really.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yup!!!

I'll say this, I'd rather they get a two season pickup and call it quits....

    ReplyDelete
  32. Surprisingly I am leaning that way too. Never thought I'd be okay with it ending.

  33. I've been ready to let go since S5. I always said that it's when it should have ended... I don't dislike the fact that we got more seasons but sometimes it's better to let go, and for shows like SPN it's actually better to bow out while you're still on top. I think they're past that point now. I mean yes, it is still a good show, but it hasn't been the GREAT show it used to be in quite some time.
I am a hardcore fan, and I'll back and rally for the show until the end of time, but I'm honest and realistic enough to acknowledge that.

  34. I was not a big fan of seasons 4 and 5 so I would have been greatly disappointed if they had stopped it there. For me, Supernatural was fantastic before the writers' strike and then lost a bit of its luster after that. Not saying that there weren't some excellent things that followed because there definitely were and I cannot imagine having missed them. Seasons 6 and 7 were more of a highlight for me than you. SPN also remained my favorite show throughout seasons 4-7, and usually by a lot. I never root for a show to be cancelled because I don't want the fun to end for the people who still love it. I just think that if it does end at season 10 I will be ready to let it go. Something I wasn't ready for at the end of season 5, when Sam was in the hell.

  35. Dang, you took my come back. lol

    ReplyDelete
  36. I am enjoying this season more than 6 & 7, but I can not see myself ever wanting to let it go. This has been my favorite series since day one, but I know it will stop at some point, just not ready for it yet.

  37. If SPN lasts forever, forever I will watch. I truly love it, my favourite show and Carver and everyone is doing an amazing job this season.

  38. I make no apologies! ;P

  39. I would real like a season 9-10 of supernatural l look forward to watching it ever week
