Once Upon A Time - Season 2 - Ginnifer Goodwin interview - Talks Snow and Emma's relationship

Now that the curse has been lifted on Once Upon A Time, major changes are on the way — including Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) remembering that Emma (Jennifer Morrison) is her daughter! ”One of the things I’m looking most forward to is exploring that relationship,” Ginnifer told HollywoodLife.com about the show’s upcoming second season June 14 at the Young Hollywood Awards. ”There’s never been one like it. We’re the same age!”

“[Snow and Charming] will remember everything,” she added. “We remember having our daughter, we remember sending her off, we understand that.”

But will Emma actually believe that Snow is her mother? The specific details of Once Upon A Time‘s upcoming second season are so top-secret that even Ginnifer is being kept out of the loop!

“What I have been made to understand is that — at least the plan is, thus far — we will remember our parallel lives,” she said. “So we’ll now be these sort of third characters, who are the blending of the two sides of the coin we’ve all played.”

  1. Ugh, I hate Hollywood Life. But I cannot wait to see how the Charmings (all four of them) relate to each other next season!

  3. I agree with Goodwin. Seeing the show explore this bizarre relationship is also one of the things I'm most looking forward to in the second season.

  4. I like the idea of blending the fairytale and the Storybrooke characters together now that the curse is broken. That's what I was hoping for. I'm glad they're not casting the Storybrooke version of the characters aside now that everyone has their memories back.

And the Emma/Snow relationship is what I'm looking forward to most concerning the Charming stories. They've worked so well together as friends before and I'm looking forward to the additional layer that is their mother/daughter relationship. I hope the Charming stuff won't get too kitschy though. Sometimes the show takes it too far with them.

  5. I absolutely loved the relationship between Emma and "Mary Margaret", so I'm looking forward to seeing how things progress next season. It's going to be awkward, that's for sure ;)

  7. This season should be good,i can't wait to see the kind of relationship they have now that they know who they are. I would imagine its going to be a bit strange for them, but then maybe not since they will remember EVERYTHING! Ooh.can't wait!!

  8. Emma better freaking believe that Snow White is her mother. If it takes all season for her to believe (again) I will lose what remaining respect I have left for her.

I just hope they don't go all lovey-dovey and have Emma call them "mom" and "dad" and have subject herself to their parenting,

  10. A "bizarre" element is usually a good thing IMO.

  11. Yeah I hope she believes, but don't want her to go all soft. I think it's not in Emma's personality to start calling them mom and dad.

  12. I always prefer to forget Henry's existence.

  13. ”There’s never been one like it. We’re the same age!”

What the hell is she talking about? Of course there's been one like it. This type of story has been done hundreds of times. May not be the same age but that's not unique enough to make it stand out.

  14. Really? I like Henry,i just tend to forget him obviously,ha!

  15. Heh. Snow and Charming should start calling Emma, "kid," like she does with Henry! But seriously, she'll probably call them the names by which she's known them: Mary Margaret and David. I can't keep a straight face when I think of Emma calling them "Snow" and "Charming" - that would be hilarious.

  16. I do not think its about her logically believing. She does.

Its more about her ACCEPTING THAT. She has been abandoned for her whole time. It will take time to accept the idea of Snow being her mother.

  17. This is definitely something I've been waiting for! It will definitely be interesting to see how Snow goes about her relationship with Emma, now that she remembers.

  18. I think it will be really interesting comparative identity not just because we have basically new versions of our characters, but that interesting idea that they were just totally reincarnated and that Emma is now around their age and is a mother too and how she has this life that didn't include magic or love...or did it? :p

But Snow White and Emma both have to deal with the idea of motherhood in a new way.

  19. Well, there IS a relationship similar to Emma & Snow's. See also, Amy Pond and River Song. :D
