Hey Guys,

It was an action packed first day, with thousands of you voting for your picks from the first three categories of the competition. There was one runaway winner in one of the categories, with a huge 65% of the votes, which was contrasted in the other two polls which saw the results swing backwards and forwards at various points before settling into two close results...

Today sees three more polls, firstly we have the Best Actress in a leading role, where there are six nominees due to the fifth and sixth most nominated characters having identical scores! Secondly we have Best Screenwriting of the year, with five top drawer episodes doing battle for the win. Finally there is your favourite TV Channel of the year, with three mainstream networks challenging two premium channels for the victory...

Remember you can only vote for one nominee per category, and don't forget to let us know who you voted for in the comments below. Each days polls will close after 24 hours, and the winners will be announced next weekend, once all the polls have taken place.

This is it. The final competition of 2011 has begun.

Let the battle commence!

    2) Vince Gilligan
    3) Fox

  9. Stana Katic, Ben Edlund and Fox. Easy decisions for the first two, the third one was purely because I counted up the number of shows I watch on each network and Fox had the most!

  10. Claire Danes b/c Homeland is SICK and she is Phenomenal in it!!!
Jeff Pinkner & J.H.Wyman for Fringe - "The Day We Died"ABC it carries more of my favorite tv shows!

  11. 1) Anna Torv.
    2) J.P & JHW

Although I was tempted to give my vote to Claire Danes

    ReplyDelete
  12. I;ve never watched the show, but I love Claire Danes
    Ben Edlund of course.
The CW was not listed which I did not like.  I voted CBS because it's the channel I do watch a show on...Hawaii Five O.  Everything else is on the CW and TNT

    ReplyDelete
  13. haha I love how NBC wasn't even nominated for "Best TV Channel".. I went with Stana Katic for Best Actress, Ben Edlund for Screenwriting, and passed on TV network for now - it was taking me too long to come to a decision, so I think I'll revisit later.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Urgh!  This is much harder than yesterday.  As far as the Best Actress poll went, I was tempted to vote for Claire Danes on reputation alone, but since I've never seen Homeland I couldn't.  Jennifer Morrison was definitely out because Emma Swan is the worst part of Once Upon a Time for me.  If it had been Lana Parrilla nominated I wouldn't have this trouble.  I find Zooey Deschanel equal parts cute and annoying so she was out too.  That left me with a quandary.  Anna Torv and Stana Katic have both had episodes where they knocked their performance out of the park, but I watch their respective shows for the other characters and not so much them.  Sarah Michelle Gellar is the best thing about Ringer but that's not saying much, and I actually like the show.  I ended up voting Anna Torv but I could have easily eeny miney moed the whole thing.

In all honesty, the second poll should have been easy for me.  It's Ben Edlund, it's Supernatural, but it's also The Man Who Would Be King.  I hated that episode and still rank it as one of the worst in Supernatural history.  It was definitely not in the running for me.  Also, although I'm going to have to find a nice rock to hide under after this, I'm not that big a fan of Ben Edlund either.  For me he has just as many clunkers as he has moments of sheer genius.  Since I haven't seen the Breaking Bad or Dr. Who episodes that once again left Castle and Fringe.  This time it was easier - The Day We Died was a game changer.  Emotional but not overly dramatic, it would have made an awesome series finale if Fringe had not been renewed.  Everyone gave their all in it and even if there were things about it I did not like, it was the best of the choices offered here and a fine hour of TV.

The last one was purely mathematical.  I watch more shows on Fox than any of the other stations.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I just diagreed on the channel, I voted ABC for the simple reason that it has more shows I watch.

  16. SmallvilleSupernaturalCastle13 December 2011 at 02:35

i voted for Stana Katic (love castle), andrew marlowe, and ABC.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Only one I voted on was the second one...voted for Supernatural. I have to say, though... The Man Who Would Be King? Really? Come on. Out of all the other episodes people could have picked... I am really not a fan of that episode. (FAR too much Castiel, ick.) but I've never watched any of the other shows so. *shrug*

    ReplyDelete
  18. Claire Danes - she's had more juicy material to work with than the other actors on this list.  And, for a change, there's only one show on the list I don't watch.

Crap...I had a brain fart!  Wanted to vote for Pinkner and Whyman for Fringe.  Instead I clicked on Andrew Marlow for Castle.   I don't watch Breaking Bad.  And of the others, I really did not like "The Man Who Would be King."   So, I won't be too upset with any of the others as nominees.

Picked CBS just going for the numbers in terms of who has the least number of shows I fuss and fume about.  Much as I love Homeland and Game of Thrones...HBO and Showtime each only had two shows on my list.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Easy today wow!
    Best Actress: Anna Torv (FRINGE)
Best Screenwriter: Vince GIlligan (Beaking Bad)
    Best Channel: Showtime

    ReplyDelete
  20. I went with Stana Katic for Best Actress
    and Moffat for Screenwriting.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Claire Danes, Vince Gilligan for Face Off and HBO. The last one, is the first poll without the choice I did in nomination (FX).

    ReplyDelete
  22. Castle won over my votes :) and Fox for best channel!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Stana Katic and Andrew Marlowe for me (Almost went with Vince Gilligan....alllmost). Stana Katic is super-unappreciated for what she does, which is be amazing and excellent all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  24. All Vote Fringe "Related" ^^;!
    &
Best leading role actress = Anna no doubt about that!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I actually loved that episode - there may have been others that were better written, but I loved getting insight into Castiel's character.. and while not everyone likes Cas, he was an important part of the Winchesters' lives, so I thought it was important for everyone to see the reasoning behind his choices, especially seeing how it affected the boys and their changing perception of this person they thought of as a friend - someone who had been through so much with them.

That being said, I did my best not to write this with too much bias - I'm a Castiel fan, myself.  :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. fox is the best TV channel

    ReplyDelete
  27. Castle all the way but in the end I chose CBS because that network still has the best programming overall.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah I just thought I'd give it to Fox because of Fringe, and its the only show I watch from Fox, Although I'm a big X-Files fan too, And I'm Looking forward to Alcatraz

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love Anna and Stana but Claire Danes nukes anyone else with her performance in Homeland, but then she also has mind-blowingly awesome support. Castle for best screenwriting (Fringe as 2nd choice); CBS on numbers for me, not necessarily quality this year.

    ReplyDelete
  30. For me, Stana Katic, Steven Moffat, and ABC.

    ReplyDelete
  31. My votes are:
Best actress: Anna torvBest screenwriting: Vince Gilligan - "Face Off"
    Best TV channel: CBS
    with no doubts!

    ReplyDelete
  32. If you really love Fringe, I bet you won't vote for FOX. They do not deserve it after the slowing death they did for Fringe.

    ReplyDelete
  33. As Nina Dobrev is mysteriously absent from the first poll, I had to go with the next actress whom I have watched in one of my favorite shows, aka Jennifer Morrison from Once Upon A Time. But I find Lana Parilla much more appealing as both the Evil Queen and the Mayor.
Not much a fan of "The Man Who Would Be King", I had to go with it however as a) it is Supernatural and b) I've never watched any of the other episodes listed or their shows for that matter.
As CW, the network hosting two of my favorite shows (Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries), didn't make the list, I went for the network which I watch a show on, that is, ABC for Once Upon A Time.

    ReplyDelete
  34. That was hard choosing between Claire and Anna but the Torv just wins it for me.  Also hard was being screenwriting choose Fringe could have gone with Breaking Bad. Channel was easy, always going to be HBO

    ReplyDelete
  35. Didn't vote in Best Actress since I haven't seen any of their works.

Best Screenwriting is easy for me, Ben Edlund's The Man Who Would Be King is a masterpiece, and I know there are people who disliked it because it was too much Castiel and not the brothers blah blah blah, but it was the episode that tied up the loose threads that other writers have messed up through an uneven season of re-writes. Edlund had the hardest job in trying to make sense and logic and tie up the mess, and he gave the character of Castiel the rightful and respectful and much much deserved moment to shine. Edlund wrote a beautiful script and Misha gave an amazing performance, combined that together and it's genius, and to this day, it remains my most fave episode of Supernatural easily. Edlund remains my fave writer on the show along with the sadly-departed-from-SPN-writing Jeremy Carver. And I for one am very glad to have his amazing mind on the show who is never afraid to give other characters their chance to take the spotlight and treat their character with respect. Nobody writes Castiel better than Edlund, and nobody gives the character a true important value than Edlund either. He's the only writer I truly trust on this show. So yes, my vote goes to Edlund, no hesitations whatsoever.

Best Channel for me was a tough one between HBO and CBS. I certainly watch more shows on CBS, but ultimately I went with HBO because that network just makes the most awesome shows so consistently and I have loved and watched every HBO drama!

    ReplyDelete
  36. The episode was suppose to be Castiel's episode, so I don't see why you're complaining it was too much Castiel. Just because the show is Sam and Dean all the time doesn't mean other episodes can't have their moment. This was Castiel's episode because it sets up and tells the story of what has been happening all along this season. That was important to the story and it was important to character development. Are you going to complain that Weekend at Bobby's was too much Bobby or Death's Door was too much Bobby? Sometimes other characters need episodes to shine because through their eyes it illuminates Sam and Dean's stories as well. It's an important balance to keep on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Danes, Gilligan & HBO
    Extremely easy choices today...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Stana, Marlowe, and...CBS. I think Stana's done some amazing stuff on Castle and it's nice to see it FINALLY getting noticed. Rise was great, but the writing on Castle has also been underappreciated in general. As for the network.... My two favorite shows are on ABC. However, I did the, "If you were stuck on a desert island and could only get one tv channel..." and, well, CBS had the better over-all programming and the most scripted shows in both number and quality.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anna Torv (Claire Danes has been AMAZING, but I gotta give it to Anna this time. She makes so much to each aspect of all the Olivias!)

Ben Edlund For Supernatural, only because I have yet to see the Breaking Bad episode. :(

    And HBO, obviously.

    ReplyDelete
  40. If you saw Claire Danes on Homeland, I have no doubt that you'd have immediately voted for her. Absolutely incredible as the diligent CIA operative, who's always on edge, foul-mouthed sometimes, has no idea what she really wants, and is secretly fighting a mental disease as well.

    ReplyDelete
  41. haha :) I just voted everything castle.. Stana Katic, Andrew Marlowe and ABC
But i don't live in america so im not compleatly sure. But i know that Castle/ Lost / Prison Break went on ABC and thats good enough for me!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Jennifer Morrison - love her as Emma on Once (Anna Torv would be my next choice)

Jeff Pinkner & J.H.Wyman for Fringe - "The Day We Died"i don`t have a favourite channel, Sorry

    ReplyDelete
  43. I voted:
    1. Anna Torv
    2. J.P. and J.H. Wyman - The Day we died
    3. Fox

    ReplyDelete
  44. Claire Danes - I can't possibly see any of the other actress's coming near to her performance this season, the only way she can't win this is because people aren't yet watching the show imo.

Moffat - thou I think that he wrote stronger scripts than LKH this year he's still one of the best writers of complex storylines.

HBO - Thou is was a close call with SHO, and the BBC is the best channel I know of but isn't in the final.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Best Actress: Stana Katic !!!!!!!!
Best Screenwriting: Jeff Pinkner & J.H. Wyman
    Best Channel: ABC

    ReplyDelete
  46. Stana, Marlowe and HBO. Showtime was close.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I can only offer an opinion for the second poll and even there I only watch Supernatural. Not that it would make a huge difference..I love Ben Edlund,I loved the episode,it was a very easy choice!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anna Torv
    Jeff Pinkner & J.H.WymanHBO

    ReplyDelete
  49. I put in a vote in each poll, but the vote for Ben Edlund is the only one I care about.

    ReplyDelete
  50. i voted for the best saah michelle gellar

    ReplyDelete
  51. Fox is the worst channel ever! Especially here in Portugal!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Danes
    The Way We Died
    Showtime

I wouldn't have chosen any of those for screenwriting though, especially not lets kill Hitler

    ReplyDelete
  53. Andrew Marlow for Castle - "Rise"
    Stana Katic for Castle
    abc best channel

    ReplyDelete
  54. HBO - that was an easy choice.  Had a tougher time on the other 2 but went for Anna Torv and The Man Who Would Be King  SPN writes as I loved that episode.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Claire Danes, Jeff Pinkner & J.H.Wyman, and Showtime for bringing us Homeland

    ReplyDelete
  56. Okay this is not good,i just came online and tried to vote for best actress and it said i already voted, but i didn't vote yet. Here  comes the email Andy.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anna Torv, The Day we died, CBS(?)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Could not vote in favorite network, CW was not listed and I would not pick CBS for dog catcher after they cancelled Moonlight(I know I need to get over it). LOL   Of course voting for Ben and the SPN Castiel ep The Man Who Would Be King, one of my top 5 eps.  Also Stana in Castle, love they as a couple, much better than Booth & Bones.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Best Actress is kind of a weird combination :)
    Danes, Castle, ABC

    ReplyDelete
  60. Best Lead Actress: Anna Torv as Olivia Dunham and something like 10 other characters
    Best Screenwriting: Jeff Pinkner &
    J.H.Wyman
    Best TV Channel: ABC

    ReplyDelete
  61. Stana Katic for Castle! <3
    &
    Andrew Marlow for Castle! <3
    Best tv show ever?!
    CASTLE!

    ReplyDelete
  62. It would have been Claire Danes, but.

Jeff Pinker and J.H. Wyman Fringe-The Day We Died

    CBS

    ReplyDelete
  63. Only voted for Ben Edlund, I would also have voted for the CW because I love voting for the underdogs.

    ReplyDelete
  64. That's fair enough. I know that even if I dislike a character/episode/whatever there will be other people that like it, in the same way that even if I love an episode or something it might have it's haters. Yeah, I didn't like it, but I get that it's important. And that Castiel was an important character whether I like it or not. XD

    ReplyDelete
  65. I voted for Anna Torv for actress, Moffat for screenwriting and HBO for channel.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I know that the episode was important to the story and everything. I never said it wasn't. I just said that I didn't like it very much. I'm not going to complain about Weekend at Bobby's and Death's Door because I really like Bobby. Not so much with Castiel, but I know other people do, and sometimes the show does have to have eps from other character's POVs. I accept that; doesn't mean I'm not going to state when I don't like it.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Jennifer Morrison as best actress? This just proves what kind of joke this poll is.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Why is it a joke? All the nominations came from readers of our site.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I watch lots and lots of TV, but not some of the shows represented here. I'm sure I would love Claire Danes, but I definitely like the work of Stana Katic this year so I voted for her. Anna Torv does her job well, but I wouldn't put her in "best actress" category. Love SMG and she's also doing a fine job. My vote for best actress goes to Julianna Margulies, but alas she's not up there.

Heck of a fine Fringe episode. Pinkner and Wyman get my vote.

I gave a weak vote to Fox. I'm surprised AMC didn't make it.

    ReplyDelete
  70. These were all hard choices, especially the TV Channel category. I watch like two shows per channel, so I don't really have a favorite. My tastes are apparently spread throughout the channels.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I voted for Anna Torv in the Best Actress, for Jeff Pinkner & J.H.Wyman for Best Screenwriting,Taken from: SpoilerTV http://www.spoilertv.com/2011/12/stv-best-of-2011-tv-awards-day-two-best.html#ixzz1gQEUo2hC

    ReplyDelete
  72. Anna Torv, Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman, and FOX (would've picked AMC if it was on here).

    ReplyDelete
  73. Just over half way though the day, and I can say that all three polls have very comfortable leaders at the moment. And some of them are not going the way I expected whatsoever!

So a message to all fans of any of the nominees today, you need to muster some support :P

    ReplyDelete
  74. Easy for me, for once. Claire Danes for Homeland, Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman for Fringe, HBO.

    ReplyDelete
  75. i cast the same votes.i had doubts about the channel, but apart from AMC, which didn't make it, FOX has the most number of shows that i watch...

    ReplyDelete
  76. I voted for Jennifer M because I love OUAT. And I voted for Ben Edlund, although MWWBK is not my favourite ep. He has written better in 2011 IMO. But it is still far better than anything else on the list.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Stana Katic. That's for sure
I would want to vote for best screen writing category, but I can't. ''Rise'' is not the best eppy AM has written IMO, and I don't watch the rest.
About TV channel category, that's even harder, I mean each has phenomenal and horrible shows, so yeah, in a way, they are equal to me. So no vote here either!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm interested to see what you think of Breaking Bad when you do get around to watching it! It seems like a series you would respect if not love....

    ReplyDelete
  79. I voted for Stana Katic (love Castle), Andrew Marlowe, and ABC.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I voted for Stana Katic and Andrew W Marlowe.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Claire Danes
    Vince Gilligan
    Showtime

    ReplyDelete
  82. No I disagree Many other Networks would have not even given it a Season 4 and I have faith that it WILL GET A SEASON 5

    ReplyDelete
  83. Anna Torv,Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman

    ReplyDelete
  84. Stana and Marlowe and ABC for me :)

    ReplyDelete
  85. I voted for Claire Danes (sorry, Anna Torv), the Breaking Bad screenwriters, and HBO.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Ha!  I just noticed we voted exactly the same.  We even both apologized to Torv.  That's funny.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I voted claire danes best actress, Steven Moffat for best screenwriting and HBO best channel

    ReplyDelete
  88. Anna Torv in the Best Actress, for Jeff Pinkner & J.H.Wyman for Best Screenwriting and HBO as best channel.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Ha! That is funy!

It just goes to show that even though we like  series or actress, we can still separate that emotional attachment from a logical decision. XD

    ReplyDelete
  90. Exactly.  We can be fans and still be objective.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Ben Edlund and fox were my two votes.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Stana Katic is THE BEST, hands down. And Andrew Marlowe is by far the BEST screenwriter out there.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Best Actress: Anna TorvBest Screenwriting: Jeff Pinkner & J.H.Wyman for Fringe - "The Day We Died"
    Best TV Channel: Fox

    ReplyDelete
  94. "something like 10 other characters" LOL!
    Anna is amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Too Late to vote :( I hate having to work!

    ReplyDelete
  96. How did I miss this yesterday? What a bummer.

    ReplyDelete
  97. WHEN horrible Lisa Edelstein fans STOP insults Jennifer Morrison in all places?
Yes, she is a lead on a success show, and yes she deserve a nomination as best actress What is your problem? Envy?

    ReplyDelete
  98. Why exactly should that be? Jennifer Morrison deserves to be on that list just like any of the other actresses. Get over it.

    ReplyDelete
  99. awwww, missed it as well. Way too much going on ATM!

    ReplyDelete
  100. I've missed the Day Two Polls. Who was in the list?
