Comic-Con 2011 - Live Streaming

21 Jul 2011

Not sure if you know this but Entertainment Weekly has, over the last four years, become a huge presence at Comic-Con. They devote an insane amount of coverage — three issues — to the fest which are usually their best-selling of the year.

This year though, they're taking Comic-Con coverage up a few notches. EW is going way beyond traditional editorial event coverage and for the first time, they'll live-stream throughout the entire festival via a partnership with a new live-streaming startup, NowLive.

So why is this cool? Usually, these festivals — think Sundance, SXSW, CES, you name it — host awesome panels and legendary parties. The problem: Most of the world can't get access to the VIP events. EW and NowLive are making it possible for the world to watch Comic-Con as it happens, and also chat with other fans online.

Here’s a sampling of the panels/parties that will be streamed throughout the week:

Panels
Entertainment Weekly Presents … The Visionaries:
A discussion with Jon Favreau (Cowboys & Aliens) and Guillermo del Toro (Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark) on the Future of Pop Culture.

Totally LOST: One Year Later:
EW’s Lost gurus Jeff “Doc” Jensen and Dan “Dan” Snierson will wax nostalgic about the past, perhaps with a surprise guest or two, and discuss how they are “moving on” in the wake of Lost’s departure from the air a year ago. The duo will look to the future by previewing promising TV obsessions.

Parties
EW’s closing night party on Saturday evening poolside at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego. The exclusive event will be sponsored by Batman: Arkham City, the highly anticipated video game based on DC Entertainment’s core Batman license, published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developed by Rocksteady Studios.

  1. Wow this is very cool. I've never been to Cc but would love to go. At least I can watch a little!

Some of the queues I've seen have been huge!

  7. This is quite a selling point for EW.  I've clicked on it twice and while I keep getting Twilight-related stuff I will be coming back to see what else they show.

  10. Um perhaps I'll wait a bit longer to try it again then.  What did you think of Malleus Maleficarum?  For most people I think the first description is ewwww.  The bunny always gets it.
