Showtime has opted not to renew The L Word: Generation Q for a fourth season. However, the franchise may continue on the network — The L Word: New York (working title), a reboot of the groundbreaking original series, is in development with the 2004 series’ creator Ilene Chaiken attached, I hear.

The L Word: Generation Q‘s cancellation comes two months after the series’ third season ended its run. No Showtime series has been renewed since the January announcement that the premium cable network will be integrated into Paramount+ across both streaming and linear later this year and renamed as Paramount+ with Showtime.

A monthly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in the past month.

1923, "The War Has Come Home", January 1st, 2023, Actors: Brandon Sklenar, Julia Schlaepfer, The Scene: Spencer and Alexandra deal with the lions in a tree
DarthLocke: Just wow! I'm not the biggest Yellowstone fan, but I absolutely loved 1883 and consider it one of the best westerns I have ever seen! I wasn't really expecting 1923 to be equally as good. While the Spencer storyline definitely gives me Out of Africa & Lions in the Darkness vibes, I also love how these two characters seem to manifest the previous Duttons, most notably James and Elsa and that echo that has me the most intrigued and dedicated to these characters. I chose this scene because it went from pleasantly chatty and romantic to extremely terrifying.

CHICAGO MED, "We All Know What They Say About Assumptions", January 18th, 2023, Actors: Jessy Schram and more, The Scene: Hannah fights for her patients
Lexi: The scene where she's fighting for her patients against Jack Dayton to enroll in a program that would've helped them if they had a visit from a postpartum care nurse.

CHICAGO PD, "I Can Let You Go", January 18th, 2023, Actors: Tracy Spiridakos, Jefferson White, LaRoyce Hawkins and more, The Scenes: The ending scene between Hailey and Sean & Kevin and his dad have a conversation about their past

Morgan: Their interactions in the final scene were intense, honest and raw to such a point you can feel Hailey's defeat and Sean's disappointment. It was such a perfect ending for the hero versus villain arc that was built up in this storyline because it was almost like Hailey lost in a way. Sean's last words to her about her speech being good, but said to the wrong person and Hailey's immediate look of realization and then disappointment because he got her again. There's been a constant power struggle between these two since day one that has been so good to watch play out and that has been done well through the end.
Lexi: The final scene where Kevin and his dad finally have a conversation about his dad's absence due to being in prison. It was an emotional scene and you could feel Kevin's pain through the screen.
Rianne: The ending scene where Kevin and his dad had the conversation about their past. It was powerful, emotional and really got through.
Milo: This kind of weird show is the kind of show where men squeal like a pig whilst getting beaten by a pimp, and you'd be fine with it happening because it fits the mood of Refn almost to the point of parody - but the moment of euphoria with Cimona escaping; even if it's a short-lived escape, is triumphant - thanks to the memorable score from Peter Peter - I Promise, creating an instant mood piece. This is my favourite "new to me" 2023 show of the year so far - and I loved its complete commitment to the craft.

CRIMINAL MINDS, "What Doesn't Kill Us", January 29th, 2023, Actors: Kirsten Vangsness, Paget Brewster, The Scene: Penelope tells Emily that she kissed Tyler
Rianne: The scene where Penelope tells Emily that she kissed Tyler Green, their material witness.

DOOM PATROL, "Hope Patrol", January 5th, 2023, Actors: Diane Guerrero, Brendan Fraser and Riley Shanahan, The Scene: Cliff holds Jane's hand
Justyna: In one of the craziest shows I've ever seen, it's still the character centric moments that get me the most. The relationship between Cliff and Jane is such a complex one, but whenever their friendship is at the center of attention, both characters often shine the brightest. When Jane is struggling and believes herself to be unworthy of anyone's love and affection, Cliff proves that she's not alone and she's most certainly already loved, and there's nothing she can do about it. He shows up in her room to apologize for his earlier behavior but upon realizing how much she needs his support, he takes off the oven mitt and reaches out to hold her hand. It's a sweet and comforting gesture, but it's so much more meaningful if you know just how much it meant for Cliff to hold his granddaughter first (with his new sense of touch). He doesn't count his earlier failures, but he knowingly changes his plan in order to help Jane and show her just how important she is to him. One of my favorite moments between these two. Also a shout-out to Diane Guerrero for another wonderful performance. Kudos!

EXTRAORDINARY, "Have Nots", January 25th, 2023, Actors: Máiréad Tyers, Sofia Oxenham, The Scene: Jen comes home with the ending reveal
Milo: Jen comes home with the ending reveal that her dad is dead; he is talking to her through Carrie. This pilot really caught me by surprise and the show grabbed my attention completely - the lighter, funnier side of the comedy was supplemented by the emotional depth and weight that it needed to emerge from good to great television.

GINNY & GEORGIA, "A Very Merry Ginny & Georgia Christmas Special", January 5th, 2023, Actors: Brianne Howey, Antonia Gentry, The Scene: The ending scene between Ginny and Georgia
Allie: Although it was a Christmas episode, the two main characters still dealt with very emotional storylines. The whole episode led up to this moment, as it showed the strained relationship between the mother / daughter duo. When Georgia found Ginny's therapy journal, she learned that her daughter was going to therapy without her knowledge and that she was also engaging in self-harm. This led to a powerful moment between Ginny & Georgia. When Georgia confronts her daughter on Christmas Day, the episode ends with both in tears and holding onto each other. It's a turning point in their relationship and provides a better view on who Georgia is as a mother.

HAPPY VALLEY, "Episode One" & "Episode Four", January 1st & 22nd, 2023, Actors: Sarah Lancashire, James Norton, The Scenes: The opening scene & Royce escapes from the court
Milo: Happy Valley is back and what an introduction after all this time - a police car speeding through the rain, "it's a microwave this time." "oh, he's diversifying" the strong wit is really good - and Lancashire is one of the best actors in the TV business. In fairness; it's the only episode of the season that I've seen so far; but plan on rectifying that by the time the article goes live - but as a way to welcome us back into the world; they couldn't have picked a better one.
DarkUFO: Tommy Lee Royce escapes from the court.

HOME ECONOMICS, "Limited Edition Boom Boom Dojo JollyBot, $45.99", January 11th, 2023, Actors: Sasheer Zamata and more, The Scene: Denise scams people out of the line
Marko: Sasheer Zamata was a menance this episode. A brilliant performance through the episode peaked with her scamming all the people out of the line. Home economics is highly underrated and performances like this deserve more recognition.

HOW I MET YOUR FATHER, "Cool and Chill", January 24th, 2023, Actors: Hilary Duff, Daniel Augustin, The Scene: Sophie talks to Ian
Marko: HIMYF returned in great fashion and Hilary delivered big in the premiere. Sophie is a bit of a mess but the way she seeks love is beautiful and heartwarming. The way she opened up to Ian was honest and powerful. So happy this season has 20 episodes, should be one hell of a ride.

MAYFAIR WITCHES, "Second Line", January 22nd, 2023, Actors: Alexandra Daddario, Tongayi Chirisa, Jack Huston, The Scenes: Rowan is swept away during a street funeral procession & Rowan and Sip connect
DarthLocke: Rowan is swept away during a street funeral procession. It was hard to choose a scene, as there were quite a few good, scary and horrific scenes that I almost picked, but I chose this particular one, because I feel like it showcases the essence of Anne Rice's works and the reality she found her characters in, as New Orleans itself is often its own character as it is in this scene. I also think it highlights such wonderful casting, as you can really feel the magnetism between the leads, and Lasher's overall seduction.
Marko: Rowan and Sip connect. Rowan's journey over the first 3 episodes of the season were filled with pain and fear, her being able to trust Sip was delicately handled and both actors brought the perfect dose of vulnerability and strength to the scene as Rowan allowed Sip to look into her deepest fears and hopes.
Folielex: So Help Me Todd has been building on putting the mother/daughter dynamic on the spot all season and in episode 11, in what proves to be yet another excellent family scene of this show, it finally dives right in. A frustrated and suppressed Alison snarkily reads the letter Margaret urged her to write as her defence after her arrest. She keeps most of her pent-up emotions in check but a lot is coming through the cracks, as Margaret's doubling down on her stance instead of listening to what her daughter is trying to say only makes things worse. It all ends with the two women in a fight.

STAR WARS: THE BAD BATCH, "Entombed", January 25th, 2023, Voiced by: Wanda Sykes, Dee Bradley Baker, Michelle Ang and more, The Scene: Phee puts the crystal back
DarthLocke: I'm really enjoying the whole season so far, as it feels deeper and richer than the freshman season. But this whole episode is an early favorite with an Indiana Jones-like setup, pre-Jedi mythology, perhaps a nod to Dark Horizon and some anime, while Wanda Sykes delightfully brings Phee to life with an ever enduring, if not dangerous optimism. Phee really shines in this episode, but what I think makes the character really great is that she has the courage of her convictions. So if she has to let go of treasure to save hers and others' lives, she will spring into action and just do it!

THAT '90s SHOW, "That '90s Pilot", January 19th, 2023, Actors: Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis
The Scene: Kelso and Jackie appear
Marko: I just lmao. The introduction of Kelso as Jay's father was hilarious and his interaction with Reed was priceless. The boomers made The 90s watchable and funny. Kudos to them.

THE GOOD DOCTOR, "Quiet and Loud", January 23rd, 2023, Actors: Freddie Highmore, Paige Spara and more, The Scene: Shaun celebrates good news with his family
Raquel: Shaun learns that Lea and their baby are fine and celebrates with his family. This scene is one of the most emotional on the show because it shows how far we've come with these characters, how much they've matured. Nobody wanted to have Shaun in the hospital, Glassman put his position at the hospital on the table so they would give him a chance and now they are all there, supporting him, because Shaun became their friend, part of their family. I'm sobbing just thinking about it!

THE L WORD: GENERATION Q, "Looking Ahead", January 22nd, 2023, Actors: Jennifer Beals, Laurel Holloman, The Scene: The wedding
Alejandra: Need I say more than that this could be the most awaited comeback we have been longing for so long. Ever since last season's cliffhanger with Bette and Tina and the whole "will they/won't they" for most of that season, and they're finally getting back together. The culmination of their story, or what feels like that on our screens, in a way, was one of the only moments of joy from season 3 for me.
Justyna: This show continues to surprise and amaze me with each episode. It's also such an emotional and heartbreaking experience. I could name a number of scenes from every single hour so far that absolutely deserve a highlight in the article and I'm glad to see a few of them already named below. From my side, I wanted to add the opening of the second episode, more specifically the final moment of it when Dr. Ratna attempts to assess the severity of the situation and offer the solution to prevent the further spread of the cordyceps fungus. Step by step, she carefully asks the crucial questions about the source of the infected, what steps were already taken by the authorities, are all infected accounted for and more. With every answer given by the soldier, she tries to remain calm and collected, even though her hands are visibly shaking and her heart must be breaking with the realization of the truth. Lieutenant-General Agus Hidayat still remains hopeful, waiting for a recommendation from the professor, a way to move forward. And then comes the brutal honesty. Ratna Pertiwi, a mycology professor and an expert in her field, says that there is no cure or medicine, no way to stop the infection, no vaccine to prevent the spread. The only course of action she can recommend is to start bombing... their own city. Not even to "fix" the situation, but as the only way to even slow down the fungus from reaching the rest of the world. Her only request to the soldiers is for them to allow her to come back home, so that she can spend the last moments of her life with her loved ones. It's a tragedy that feels almost impossible to process for the rest of us. The human instinct is generally to run or fight, to try to escape the infection and save the people you love, but Dr. Ratna shows an incredible strength in her quiet and brutal statement. I can't imagine having to make a decision even remotely close to this one, so watching this scene left me shocked and deeply moved. Wonderful performance by Christine Hakim and the rest of the cast. Kudos!
Bradley: Bill and Frank’s final day montage. I watched the final 25 minutes of “Long, Long Time” through teary eyes and it all stems from - well, two things. First, the mesmerising portrayal of the two characters, Bill and Frank (ostensibly minor characters in the video game, and minor here as single-episode characters but major in impact) by Offerman and Bartlett, who, throughout the episode, ensure you fall in love with these two opposite personalities just as they fell in love with each other. Second, the beautiful, heart-breaking sequence in which Frank, suffering from an unspecified neurological disease, decides it will be his last day alive. The raw, ugly emotion of Offerman, largely playing a more emotive, gay version of Ron Swanson, devastatingly leads this: his despair and desperation at the thought of losing his lover played against Bartlett’s bittersweet contentment. Invoking Max Richter’s “On The Nature Of Daylight” feels almost cruel; another gut-punch after 12 rounds in the ring. But there can be no better accompaniment to their last hours together, the montage cutting wonderfully between their trip to the boutique, their at-home wedding, and their final dinner in which Bill admits to suicide-by-pill. That they can even share a laugh amid the pain at the end makes the scene even more achingly sad, but it’s a perfect end: for everyone else, the world ended in 2003; for Bill, it began three years later and ends in his dining room.
DarkUFO: The opening talk show scene.
Chloe: Sarah's death. If possible, this scene hit harder than the original game sequence purely because we spent more time getting to know Sarah before the tragedy struck. It helped to make her death scene that more powerful and Pascal and Parker conveyed all of the pain and grief that has resonated with the audience for years and made it that much more potent and raw in the process. It's this kind of faithfulness to the games which has helped the show to become so quickly beloved but the little acting choices by Pascal, Parker and Luna show how much care has been put into each character to make them their own. Sarah's death is a pivotal changing moment for Joel, paving the way for his bond with Ellie and Pascal perfectly portrays the shock of losing a child so suddenly and brutally.
DarthLocke: Richard is shot, Allie then saves Charlie. While the season two finale was good, it was good for a lot of wrong reasons, as characters mostly didn't behave like themselves, some things happened too conveniently, and even I think Richard dying in front of Charlie was a bit predictable. But the scene itself and the way Richard shined through as a character, while Allie saves his son and grabbing the cash was done so well and just gives credence to the complexity of who Allie really is and to his anti-capitalist philosophy.
bwhitley85: Look, I know I keep nominating Chenford scenes and I am not sorry. Lucy and Tim tried a formal first date, but it didn't work and by episode's end we found them in a much more comfortable place at the food truck with all the 'first date jitters' washed away. They were themselves and it was perfect. I also loved that Lucy joked about their future grandkids and it almost made Tim giddy, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention their first 'real' kiss which was initiated by Tim and that was huge as any Chenford fan knows! These two are amazing together and I hope the show sees the magic in the payoff they've given us.
Cristina13: The love between Lucy and Tim has been slow burning since season 1, episode 1. Finally, after 5 seasons and so many will they/won’t they moments, Tim and Lucy let their guards down, admit their feelings to one another and have their first date. The moment was everything fans hoped it would be. Tender, raw, real and filled with so much longing and excitement. After a failed attempt at the most romantic restaurant in LA earlier in the episode, the two ended up at a food truck in this scene. They realized they don’t need to be anywhere special, they just need to be together. Everything about the scene was gold, right down to the small round table that Lucy and Tim sat at, which allowed them to be close and felt so intimate. A normally stoic Tim finally let his guard down, and even forfeited arresting a would be car thief to maintain this moment with Lucy. They had waited so long, nothing was going to ruin this for them. Lucy joked about grandkids, which Tim joined in on, highlighting the bond that these two have and how much love already exists between them. Even though this is their first date, they are already so far along in their relationship that they are comfortable implying that they are it for each other. At the end of the scene, the two finally shared their first real kiss. It was tender, romantic and you could feel the sparks flying between them during this moment that both characters had been waiting on for so long. You could "literally" hear the viewers screaming “finally!” at their TV sets. This moment was everything viewers hoped it would be and more. Chenford is finally canon and I’m here for it.

THE WINCHESTERS, "Hang on to Your Life", January 24th, 2023, Actors: Meg Donnelly, Tom Welling, The Scene: Mary confronts Samuel
Marko: Tom was very well cast in the role of Samuel. Him opening up about the damage he caused to his own daughter came from the heart and Tom brought all the right emotions.
bwhitley85: Abby and Tom sleep together. I am not nominating this from a shipper's POV, I am nominating it because the show took the bold move of going there. We still don't know what Tom's involvement in Liam's death is, but this adds so much more gray to an already complex character situation and it is so intriguing! As the show has gone on, it is obvious that Tom has many more layers than just being the cut and dry villain, and now the show is playing into that and I appreciate the willingness to keep the audience on their toes in a very interesting way.
Folielex: Nascha tells Calian her story. After the years long search for his lost sister finally comes to an end, Nascha quietly recounts her life story to her estranged brother. For Calian it is a sad story of displacement and assimilation, but for Nascha it is merely her life... one she seems pretty content with, even if it has come at the cost of losing her brother. It is a bittersweet ending to Calian's quest, knowing his sister is well and alive but still as lost to him as before.
Justyna: This was such a fun season. It may not be the best show in the world (which is perfectly okay), but it's truly enjoyable and entertaining and I'd love to see more of it. I think that episode 7 was probably my favorite one so far and I was glad to see the growth in all the characters as they approach the end of their rescue mission. There's several moments that would stand out during this hour, but the one that stayed with me the longest is the training montage. Between Elora and Willow, Kit and Jade, and Elora and Graydon duos, everyone has truly upped their game, preparing for the upcoming fight. You can see the determination and strength in all the characters, especially clear with the shift in Elora, as we watch their growing skills with the time passing by. The montage is also visually stunning. The gorgeous views, the music, the editing - everything fits perfectly together. The Shattered Sea was such a beautiful location and the fantastic setting for the magical training sequences. Kudos to cast & crew for all their great work on the series!

We are entering the last two episodes of the season folks. Let´s get into it. Carrie (Rosie O'donnell) is alive and well, after last week´s cliffhanger that´s where we start. Finlety (Jacqueline Toboni) is in full caretaker mode (obnoxiously so) after Carrie survived a scary heart attack. Which i understand, Carrie´s basically a mother figure to her and after meeting her mom last week, I get it. The mommy issue spart I mean. Angie (Jordan Hull) has fallen into depression after the whole dating her professor thing bombed. She’s been living in her bed coping, and is right there still when her Moms show up for her scheduled public reading (yes, it’s a reading of her work from the class taught by THAT teacher.) She was very much not planning on attending but in an attempt to keep Bette (Jennifer Beals) and Tina /aurel Holloman) in the dark on her sex life, she reluctantly agrees to go and drags her roommate/confidante into the forced attendance. That is all I´m going to mention about that whole situation because I really hate the whole thing, so moving on.
Alice /Leisha Hailey) is obsessed with her kitten and I can relate because I also have done that in the past. But then Twitter pops up with an alert that Alice is trending, and it’s not a great look. Remember the movie theater scene a few episodes back? Yeahhhhhh, those videos made it to the internet with the hashtag #AliceSoEntitled. Whoops. Cancel culture wants to do what it does and goes for Alice’s throat. I think her Main Character energy is hilarious but the mob hive-mind mentality behind cancel culture loves to attack and tear down and pretend that everyone else in the world is absolutely perfect.

Misty (Heidi Sulzman) and Carrie hadn’t had sex yet, prior to the heart attack and now a goal of Carrie’s physical healing is to make it into bed together (when they’re emotionally ready, of course.) Spoiler alert: they do by the end of the episode and we really adore this butch/butch couple representation. This couple is fine overall but then I get whiplash when I see Dani (Arienne Mandi) and Dre (carmen lobue) making out and It gets worse when Dre slips out an I Love You, they try to backtrack but we all knowwhat this means. Anyway, what´s about it on that scene, we are back to Alice´s social media issue. Sophie (Rosanny Zayas) and Dani, think she needs to play the game nicer (more tamed woman? yeah.) Lame. More of that later thought.
Angie goes through with her reading, which took a lot of courage in front of her creative writing instructor a.k.a. the douchebag who slept with his freshman student. Bella (Sari Arambulo), Angie’s roommate, sits with Bette, Tina and Shane (Katherine Moennig), who shows up late. Wait a minute, Shane recognizes that douchebag professor is Angie’s ex boyfriend. And then it all clicks and the Mama lions are pissed, as they should be. Angie’s bff roomie, Bella agrees with the Mom’s and Aunt Shane that the professor was predatory and Angie was taken advantage of, from that perspective. Thinking she’s fully grown at 18 and everyone is underestimating her, Angie storms off pissed telling everyone to leave her alone. Someone knock some sense into this girl asap.
Hyped for filming the show finale episode, Alice is disheartened to learn that her main guest has pulled out after Alice had refused to tuck her tail between her legs like a shamed dog. And now, she’s over it. Alice doesn’t want to film. Sophie doesn’t want to cancel the episode and decides she’s going to make it work and make it happen without Alice.

Did I even mention that we see Tess (Jamie Clayton) at the start of the episode in a post hookup sitation? Can not believe I blocked it, that´s how bad the treatment of couples is on this show, Shess really had me giggling when they first started out,now I know that this is only going to end up badly, and has already done that for Tess since she´s back to drinking. Shane’s been thinking and trying to find herself again and has a great idea, what if the second bar they intended to open (at Tess’ assistance — ahem, bullying) wasn’t a bar? What if it was a salon? I love this Shane, who’s wanting to return to her passion and have something for herself. Mean Tess shits on the idea. Shane has finally had enough of the abuse and ends it with Tess, she can’t do this anymore. Isn´t Shane the one paying for the whole thing? So she should be the one to decide what the place ends up being, right? I´m confused.

To top off Alice’s bad day, she loses her kitten. Alice, wearing Gucci, roams the streets with a chicken sandwich on a fishing pole trying to lure her kitten home. Because she’s Alice, that’s why. The kitten, per every Hollywood storyline ever, was stuck high up in a tree. Alice is eager for the hand-off from the firefighters who have so graciously come to the rescue. And guess who is there to hate on Alice? Her ex Tasha (Rose Rollins). There has to be more to this than just a silly cameo. The next episode should be very interesting! I´m very excited about this and I barely remember anything about their relationship in general from the original, but there was more chemistry in the discussion they were having then all of the pairings right now, Tibette excluded of course, which leads us to Bette proposing to Tina over burgers and fries. The magic in the mundane really shines here and I love it. I’m happy to see these two reconcile fully and prove that sometimes, if we really work for it, love prevails.

We are finally on the last episode of this season my friends, what a mess of a plot. The L Word: Generation Q season 3 finale opens at Bette and Tina's wedding. Alice was in charge of the cake and the booze. She got the cake but forgot to arrange for the alcohol. I adore Alice I really do, I don´t say it enough. That forces Shane to call Tess to bring copious amounts of alcohol from Dana's to the venue fast. Shane and Tess have not spoken so it's extremely awkward for Tess to show up and stock the bar. But awkward seems to be a theme at this wedding. That forces Shane (Kate Moennig) to call Tess (Jamie Clayton) to bring copious amounts of alcohol from Dana's to the venue fast. Shane and Tess have not spoken so it's extremely awkward for Tess to show up and stock the bar. But awkward seems to be a theme at this wedding. Roxy (Paula Andrea Placido) has molly she shares with Dani, even though Dani insists it won't have any effect on her. It doesn't take long before it's heavily affecting her. How are we here again, why is there another love interest already set up for Daniela right now? I´m still mourning Gini. I´m upset.

Sophie's primary goal at the wedding is to find someone to hook up with, although she wants to clear the air with Alice too. They haven't spoken since the season finale of Alice's show. Sophie gets more than the hook up she planned for when she meets Pippa Pascal (Vanessa Williams) and the two instantly spark. This could end up being a real thing and not just a wedding fling. I was going to let it go, but why is Pippa at this wedding? As far as I know her and Bette are not really friends, they just hooked up which makes it even worse in my opinion, but anyway, not sure why I´m expecting The L Word to make sense.

While the last minute wedding preparation drama is going on, Bette and Tina stress as they get dressed. Tina complains about being extremely hot and sweaty all of a sudden and she's desperate to cool off. Bette suggests they try hanging out in the walk-in cooler in the kitchen to see if that helps. But the handle breaks on the inside, trapping them. When Shane and Alice finally come looking for them, the outside handle breaks too. Angie brings Hendrix (Simon Longnight) to the wedding, but Bette and Tina don't want him there and neither do I. Hendrix thinks the wedding is a great time to tell Angie he’s moving to New York to focus on his book, to which she tells him to leave.

Why are we investing any time on this storyline when we could have Angie and the roommate be a thing instead? Alice calls 911 to get the door open, but the fire department is busy and can't send someone for several hours. Bette insists Alice call Tasha to get them out. Reluctantly Alice does, and Tasha and her crew come to the rescue. When I tell you I´m giggling at Tasha´s beautiful face, please bring her back full time if they are lucky enough to get this show renewed. At this point I´m praying for it´s downfall but I also just want to see more Rose Rollins on my screen. Bette and Tina are grateful and tell Tasha to stay for the wedding if she'd like to. Tasha and Alice bicker, but also have a meaningful moment where Tasha tells Alice she felt like Alice was still in love with Dana when they were together. At that moment Angie pulls Alice away because the wedding is starting.
Able to talk later, Alice tells Tasha losing Dana almost killed her and she focused on her career after that so she wouldn't have to really deal with her loss. They dance and the vibe between them is very much still there. I can feel it you guys. Also, I just want Alice to find everything she wants. We´ll see.

Tess returns high and drunk and makes a scene. She also falls into the wedding cake. Afterward she leaves with the man she met earlier. Then, at the end of the night, Finley gets a call indicating Tess has been in some kind of accident. Bette and Tina try to regroup with Alice and Shane. The four of them have a nice moment reminiscing about some of the crises they have been through together in the past. Despite the smashed cake the wedding goes on. Bette and Tina share vows they've written. Alice, who became a wedding officiant online, pronounces them married for life. After some dancing and celebrating, Bette and Tina quietly slip away; a nice send off for the original L Word power couple.
Dani and Roxy kiss, and Roxy lets Dani know that she bought a condo in LA and is serious about being with her. But Dre shows up to the wedding as Dani and Roxy are kissing, so Dani is going to have to make a choice. I knew it, I knew they were going to use one of the worse tropes and one of the ones I hate the most, which is love triangles. I´m so over the treatment of Dani´s character.
In non-wedding drama, Micah (Leo Sheng) and Maribel (Jillian Mercado) reach a tipping point that ends up tearing them apart. They have the donor sperm and are ready to make a baby when Micah gets cold feet. He wants to have a serious and open discussion with Maribel about the risks of pregnancy and how pregnancy would be impacted by her disability. She is furious at him, but he is concerned about her health and the impact of a pregnancy. They have a big fight about it and Maribel smashes the container of donor sperm, telling Micah they aren't ready for a baby. Micah packs a bag and leaves, phoning Max and asking if they can talk.

The L Word: Generation Q season 3 was supposed to be about finding true love, whether it was with another person or self-love. If the series comes back for another season (as yet unconfirmed) it will be interesting to see what develops for both the new characters and OG characters as they continue to redefine what love, commitment, marriage and family look like in modern society. I just wish the people behind the scenes would care about this characters and stories as much as we do.

Comment below:

What did you guys think of this season?

Do you think Tasha and Alice could be the next endgame?

Will the love triangle between Dani, Dre & Roxy be a main thing for next season?

Do you think the show will get renewed?

J ALEJANDRA GILhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01450186749705298008noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29964715.post-28032041217307631692023-01-24T16:21:00.000+00:002023-01-24T16:21:49.945+00:00TV Ratings for Sunday 22nd January 2023 - Network Prelims, Finals and Top 200 Cable Numbers Posted

When I tell you I did not expect what happened this episode seven at all. Let´s not waste any time to get into it. "Little Boxes" picks up with Finley (Jacqueline Toboni) leaving the apartment after Sophie (Rosanny Zayas) has broken up with her. Finley is struggling to stay sober, but when she calls Tess (Jamie Clayton) and Shane (Kate Moennig) they are on their way to Vegas to grapple with the death of Tess' mom. Finley ends up calling Carrie (Rosie O'Donnell) for support so she doesn't drink. I honestly do not care for that break up one bit, however I was interested to see what the characters are like apart from one another but I has too many expectations. Carrie's matter of fact comfort is exactly what Finley needs. Carrie wants to make sure Finley is hydrating and eating so they make a lasagna, which Finley ruins by burning it to a crisp. Which could be a metaphor for her life being a giant fire she struggles to put out? I don´t know.
She immediately melts down and Carrie tells her that burning a lasagna is not a character flaw; one of Carrie's best lines and a much-needed reminder for Finley that not everything is a crisis. Sometimes the lasagna is just lasagna. Carrie takes Finley to her weekly bowling night to get Finley out of the house and out of her own head.

I´m dissapointed because I think Finley´s character could be so much better and her storyline about being a mess could also be very interesting, but this is The L Word and we are not here for the well written plots are we?
After breaking up with Finley, Sophie tries new things to find herself again. First she gets her nipples pierced, then she gets a glam makeover with vintage inspired hairstyle and later she's drinking and flirting hard at the Fletcher album release party Dani (Arienne Mandi) is throwing. Dre (Carme LoBue) is also there, which is a bit awkward for everyone. Sophie and Dre hang out but when Sophie kisses them Dre lets Sophie know they're into Dani. Sophie ends up kissing a woman who turns out to be married to someone that could be important for Micah (Leo Sheng) and Maribel (Jillian Mercado) . Then she falls in the pool as Fletcher is singing, bringing the event to a halt. Which is by far the only interesting thing that happened.

An exasperated Dani puts Sophie in an Uber home and they share a moment of what seems like real friendship. Their bond is still there, despite all the mess. Life, and relationships, are messy. Will this new seemingly healthy relationship they have survive Dani dating Dre? Because by the end of the episode Dani and Dre are skinny dipping in the pool at the event after everyone else has left. Dani tells Dre she's not ready for anything serious, but Dre reveals they're still in a "situationship" with their girlfriend back home because of course they are, I´m still not over the Ginny breakup which you can tell by my reviews. I honetly would have taken Dani being single for a long time instead of just getting her together with anyone else that shows up so that´s all I´m going to say about that.
Alice's mystery text from episode 6 was to Tom (Donald Faison). She felt like he was "the one" that Dana mentioned in her ayahuasca vision. Tom meets with her at the studio thinking she wanted to talk about another book. She is interested in doing another book, but while she's trying to talk to him about rekindling their relationship she hears a cat trapped in a vent in her office. As they're trying to catch the cat, Alice asks Tom if they gave up too quickly and should try again. But he has moved on; he's with someone else and she's pregnant. Alice tells him all about her vision and he starts asking her about the people she dated right after Dana, thinking Dana was telling Alice one of them was "the one." Alice mentions she kissed Lara, who was Dana's first girlfriend. Then she mentions Tasha and I´m getting war flashbacks, because boy was I wrong about the person that could be the "right" endgame for Alice at this point.

I just don´t know how I feel about this going through exes that could potentially be the person they end up with, I mean they´re exes for a reason, right? In other news, they eventually do retrieve the cat and Alice adopts it.
During the Fletcher event Micah meets Michael (William Phelps), a man who looks, talks and has the same mannerisms as Micah. Even though it seems crazy, Micah and Maribel ask Michael if he would consider being a sperm donor for their baby. Michael says he has to talk to his wife but he would be honored to help them have a child. Unfortunately, his wife ends up being the woman Sophie kissed, so Micah and Maribel are left not knowing where they stand while Michael deals with his domestic situation. But this is quickly shut down because of Sophie´s shenanigans.

At bowling, Finley asks Carrie why she hasn't asked Misty (Heidi Sulzman) out yet. Carrie says hanging out with Misty a few hours a week at bowling is enough for her. But of course Finley wades right into the middle of that and makes a mess. She tells Misty Carrie has feelings for her, but Misty says Carrie isn’t her type.
Carrie overhears this, ruining bowling night for her. But even though she's upset, Carrie doesn't lash out at Finley. She takes Finley home where they make another lasagna. Misty comes over as they are sitting down to eat and admits she does have feelings for Carrie. So Finley didn't ruin the relationship after all and she may have been just what these two needed to get their relationship going. While all of this is going on Angie (Jordan Hull) goes away with Hendrix (Simon Longnight) for a reading he's doing. Feeling awkward about having sex with him for the first time, she initiates a romantic encounter before the reading. After the reading when an agent approaches him, Hendrix introduces Angie as his student, not his girlfriend. She tries to talk to him about it but he essentially breaks up with her saying he's uncomfortable dating her while she is his student. Angry, she leaves the hotel and heads back to her dorm. I have to say that this is one of the worst pairings the L Word has ever done and they had shane and Jenny together but let´s not talk about that. I will be against student-teacher relationships every time, the power imbalance makes me very uncomfortable and the man in those relationships especially eventually turn out to have done it several times before with other students so I do not support this at all and just want it to be over. But looks like it won´t be the case any time soon even if they have officially broken up.

Looks like we are celebrating thanksgiving next. I have to give it to the The L Word: Generation Q delivering an emotional episode, a nice reminder that chosen family is just as valid as blood family, and that it's ok to set boundaries. That part I liked a lot. Things open with Finley (Jacqueline Toboni) talking to Carrie (Rosie O’Donnell) about Misty (Heidi Sulzman) at Dana’s, as Finley gets the Thanksgiving celebration prepared. Tess (Jamie Clayton) is back at work, hoping to lose herself in busywork to distract from feeling the grief associated with her mom's death. But she's struggling, and she's drinking again. At the end of the episode, we see her scatter her mom's ashes and say a final, poignant goodbye. Shane (Kate Moennig) and Angie (Jordan Hull) are volunteering at a holiday food giveaway on campus. Angie is clearly not dealing well with her breakup with Hendrix (Simon Longnight), but she goes from mopey to mad when she sees him at the charity event with another woman he is clearly dating. As Shane sneaks her out of the event, they see his car in the parking garage. I know this is TV but I find it very weird that Angie´s not spending the holiday with her moms.
Angie, doing what a younger Shane would have done, smashes the back window of the car to retrieve the book of poems she made for Hendrix that's laying on the back seat. As they run away, Hendrix and his date return and see the smashed window. When he sees the book is missing he knows who did it, opting not to call the police. And I was right to day that this weird plot is far from over. But I´m done talking about it for now.

Dre (Carme LoBue) is getting ready to go home for the holiday, but she and Dani (Arienne Mandi) are definitely getting close. They have some deep conversations as well as some intimate moments. Both of them say they don't want anything serious and I hope they mean it because I do not feel anything with this pairing. When Dre's flight is cancelled, Dani asks her to stay and spend Thanksgiving together. Though originally planned to just be the two of them, Dani gets called to be part of the emotional support contingent heading to Dana's for Finley, whose terrible mother (Mary McCormack) shows up for Thanksgiving. I remember being mentioned back in season 1 that Finley´s relationship with her mother wasn´t good but they never really got into it until now, which does show more of why Finley has such a hard time and a little inside as to why she is the way she is.

If there was something that would have me bond with her is mommy issues and that´s valid. I´m really glad to see how Finley handled it and that there was people that had her back a well, It is not easy to stand up to family so I applaud it. Sophie and Maribel (Jillian Mercado) are having their mother and aunt at the apartment with Micah (Leo Sheng) for Thanksgiving. Finley, trying not to crack under the emotional weight of dealing with her toxic mother, begs Sophie to come to Dana's for support. So the entire Suarez clan packs up some food and goes because that's how chosen family works. Even if you're in a weird place with each other emotionally, when one person is struggling the others show up for them. The support that Sophie's mom and aunt give is nice to see and a total contrast to Finley's mother's behavior.

Comment below:

What are your thoughts on episodes 7 & 8?

Who do you think is Alice´s the One?

Here we go again folks. Shane (Kate Moenning) is packing up things in the house for Tess's mom to take with her to the nursing home she requested to go live in last episode. The tension between Shane and Tess (Jamie Clayton) is thick, but Tess doesn’t want to talk about catching Shane with Ivy (Kehlani). When a bee flies in the room and Shane captures it to take it outside, both she and Tess become trapped on the deck when the door locks behind them. Which is pretty much a metaphor of their relationship, on the nose much?
The bitter silence between Tess and Shane gives way to some intense conversations. Over the course of the day and the evening locked out together on the deck, they dig deep into what comes next for them. Shane is clearly unhappy with herself, but she tells Tess she's not happy in the relationship. Tess wants Shane to change, but she knows Shane has to want to change before she will actually take any responsibility for her pattern of cheating in relationships. Tess has a lot of questions for Shane about her behavior and what she wants out of life but Shane doesn’t have any answers. I´m not really sure about where this is going to be honest, I don´t think the writers even know anymore at this point, like Waht is Shane´s endgame here? I understand getting older doesn´t equal to getting wiser or really evolving as a person, but what they´re doing with Shane is something else. Her whole arc as been about her being a cheater and we saw this from the original series years ago, I´m not interested in seeing it again.

Their forced togetherness ends when Finley (Jacqueline Toboni) comes over and frees them. Finley, who had a rough night of her own, and Tess decide to go to an AA meeting. Shane takes some of her things and their dog and goes to Alice's (Leisha Hailey) house. Is this a temporary breather so they both calm down? Or the start of a permanent split? Either way, Shane really needs to get herself together and decide exactly what kind of person she is going to be.
Dani (Arienne Mandi) is having the most LA evening ever. She is saved from getting knocked over by a person on a scooter by a mysterious but attractive woman (Carmen LoBue), whom she kisses on a whim immediately after they meet. Dani and her mystery woman end up at Dana's (and while Dani is talking to Sophie (Rosanny Zayes) her mystery woman goes on stage to sing. What is this? Dani already being set up to be in a relationship, I´m not having it. I didn´t think I could get angrier after the Gini break up but I just got there. Can you even allow her to be single for more than one episode and focus on her character instead of jumping this fast to someone else. And of course, because there is drama to be had behind all this, Dani's new interest is Dre, the person Sophie was hooking up with while Finley was in sober living. Because of course Dani and Sophie, who almost got married, would end up dating the same woman just months apart. Dre mentions she's only been in LA for six months but she's already dating women who are each other's exes? Dre may be a next generation Papi. Also I´m pretty sure Dani´s line to Sophie about being as loyal as a dog will for sure come back into play because foreshadowing is a thing.

Back to one of the most boring couples on this show, Finley has a lot of questions for Sophie about Dre. She asked Sophie how many times Sophie slept with Dre. Sophie lied and said they only slept together once. In truth, Sophie and Dre spent a weekend together and there was a spark that had the potential for more than a casual hookup. That lie may come back to bite Sophie in the future. Finley was already uncomfortable with the idea of Dre, so seeing Dre at Dana's pushed her over the edge.
When Sophie told her Dre was there and pointed her out, Finley pulled the fire alarm and kicked everyone out of Dana's, including Sophie. Whis is why she went to Shane's afterward and found Shane and Tess locked out. That´s all I´m going to say about that.
Anyway, now onto another short lived storyline. Taylor (Joey Lauren Adams) told Alice she had to work and couldn't go to the movies. But while she was sitting in the theater, Alice sees Taylor with someone else. At first it's not clear whether they are on a date or not, but then Taylor kisses the other woman. Alice, being Alice, confronts Taylor. Taylor tells Alice she didn't think they were exclusive and says that's how regular people date. This whole exchange is a cringe fest for me but I don´t even have to elaborate further than to say that´s over.
Micah (Leo Sheng) and Maribel (Jillian Mercado) are starting their search for donor sperm to have a baby, but they can't find any donors that have the exact characteristics they're looking for. It’s starting to dawn on both of them that the process of having a child is going to be a lot more complicated than they thought. They still seem committed to the idea, but it's really not clear if they're up to the challenges of parenthood. When I tell you I hate baby storylines so much doesn´t even cover it. However, I have decided to look at this in another perspective, which is that they are showing what a family looks like outside of society´s idea of what it should look like and that is something I am interested in.

I don´t even know where to start on this week´s episode friends. Let me just say that I love musical episodes as much as the next girl, especially when they are done right. However The L Word´s already walking on a very thin line this season and this weirdness did not help their case at all. Even though this wasn't a holiday-themed episode (though it was a Christmas Day treat for fans), The L Word: Generation Q season 3 episode 6 saw a ghost from the past make a very special and emotional return.
Alice (Leisha Hailey) takes her staff to a desert retreat to drink ayahuasca, a plant-based hallucinogenic substance that can induce hallucinations that are supposed to open up the mind to insights from the universe. Alice convinces Shane (Kate Moennig) to go too, after calling Shane out for being a total mess in the aftermath of her breakup with Tess (Jamie Clayton). Alice is also a mess, though, after her recent unlucky streak in love. Sophie (Rosanny Zayas) is also on the retreat, making Finley (Jacqueline Toboni) upset because Sophie won’t be able to help buy a car. Just by this introduction I already know where this episode is going for every single character to be honest. At the retreat they all experience vivid hallucinations, which incorporate songs, dances and the kitsch you'd expect from a musical episode. But their visions aren't all songs and dances.
Shane's vision is a fun '40s era adventure, where she's a sailor in town who visits Dana's to see a glamorous singer, Tess. There's a rousing dance number and Shane must confront her identity as a commitment-phobia. At the end of her vision she is being chased by several women and she either has to jump off a roof to join Tess in a waiting car or choose to return to the identity she's always had. Just as she is coming out of the influence of the ayahuasca, she jumps. Back in LA, she immediately goes to Tess to tell her she's ready to let go of her identity and build a life with Tess. Tess starts crying and drops the bombshell that her mom, former showgirl Betty, has died. Trying to help Tess through her grief will be a real test of Shane's new commitment.

In Sophie's vision, she's a '50s housewife in a black and white sitcom called Finley’s Home. Through the course of the vision Finley, playing the stereotypical domineering male of that era, continually finds ways to shut Sophie up.
When Finley's boss and his wife, who in the vision are Micah (Leo Sheng) and Maribel (Jillian Mercado), come over for dinner, Finley tells them Sophie has laryngitis and can't speak. There's a series of running gags that all result in Sophie being unable to speak. I understand what they were trying to do here but I don´t think it was very well executed.Through her vision Sophia realizes she is feeling suffocated by her relationship with Finley. Sitcom Sophie finally breaks free and finds her voice with a song. When she finishes the song the vision shifts from black and white to color, as a visual representation for her transformation after she finds her authentic voice.

When she returns to LA, she breaks up with Finley, who is blindsided by Sophie's declaration that she needs to be fully herself and she can't be that with Finley. I could have told you that without the drugs.
Alice's vision starts off with her as a contestant on a Price Is Right style game show. But in the game she needs to find the flaw of each person pictured. As photos of her ex-partners pop up, she reels off their flaws. But the last photo is of her, forcing her to confront her own flaw keeping her from finding "the one." When she correctly answers that she pushes people away she wins the game and wins her dream life with her dream partner. In a surprisingly emotional moment, Erin Daniels, who played original The L Word character Dana Fairbanks, appears (reminder, Dana died of breast cancer in the original series). Dana tells Alice that part of her prize is that they get to grow old together. First of all, I did not know we were going to be seeing Erin Daniels return for this sad hour, I came here to have a good time and instead I got my heart strings being pulled in every direction. There is a sweet duet from the two about a life that never could have been, the two soulmates living their best life together. But in a bittersweet conversation that induced real tears, Dana tells Alice that Alice's "the one" is still out there for her but Alice has to let Dana go to find them. Alice has never really confronted her grief at losing Dana or her grief for the life she and Dana had planned.

Dana also implies Alice has already met the person who is "the one," but she has pushed that person away. I really adore you Dana but I don´t think this is the case and Alice is yet to meet someone worthy of her, that´s just my opinion anyway. Back in LA, Alice goes through her box of Dana's things and finds the sunflower she bought in the gift shop at the hospital the day Dana died. In The L Word, Alice sank to the floor sobbing after Dana was gone, holding the little dancing mechanical flower that played "You Are My Sunshine." Alice finally is able to let go of the ideal future with Dana she had been clinging to. At the end of the episode, she sends a mysterious text to someone that isn't named, the person she thinks Dana was referring to as being her "the one." This is supposed to be a big reveal but they already spoiled it with the preview, like????

Looks like everyone got some sort of big awakening this episode, except for Dani, where the heck was she for the whole thing? We only saw her like five seconds where she shared a kiss with Finley because this season has not been awful enough for us Gini shippers. This is as much as I can do for this recap without being a hater folks. Let me know in the comments:

Do you think Shane will actually change and fix things with Tess?

How do you think Tess will handle her grief?

Will Sophie and Finley become likeable characters now that they are no longer together?

Will we see Dani for more than five seconds next episode?

Who do you think is Alice texting? (If you have seen the preview you already know).

Here we go again folks. First off all, how is everybody doing after last week´s ending with our beloved Gigi (Sepideh Moafi) getting in a car accident? Not well? Me either.
Anyway, looks like we made it into another week of this already weird season. We open in the dark chaos of night Gigi’s in a neck brace on a stretcher in an ambulance and her emergency contact, Nat (Stephanie Allynne) having apparently beat the traffic that thwarted Bette Porter earlier that same evening — is there at Gigi’s cot-side. Oh man, I just mentioned Bette and I´m still mourning Jennifer Beal´s departure. I´ll try to ignore it. So, before I even have time to get comfortable in my bed, Nat´s already pressing her lips against Gigi, out of nowhere, because Why not? Right before Dani (Arienne Mandi) arrives, creting this tension around the whole episode.

Only one of them is allowed in the ambulance, and Dani leaps in before it drives away, leaving Nat to ponder what happened while standing in the street.
We cut to credits and re-enter our world of lesbian love at the Alice (Leisha Hailey) show, where Alice and her staff are preparing for their 100th episode. Alice had a big plan to host a blind dating show as one of the segments on this episode, and Sophie is promising that she vetted all of the candidates thoroughly. Alice thinks this can really work! After all, the very first ever Bachelorette is still with the man she chose, so that must mean television dating shows have a super high probability of success, right?
Alice is waiting for her coffee from a cute bartender named Taylor (Joey Lauren Adams), who pronounces her name “Elise” before looking up and realizing who she’s talking to. Taylor takes the coffee back to design some latte art, but it’s clear she’s not very good at it because she claims it’s “chaos”, and Alice asks her to stay for the show. And because this show is so predictable, we can already tell they´ll become a thing before the espiode ends.

It’s a productive day shift at the Dana Fairbanks Memorial Tavern and Finley’s (Jacqueline Toboni) got her laptop open, hesitant to hit “submit” on her completed application to the California State School of Hospitality, where I can only safely conclude she is looking to get a degree in restaurant management and eventually study abroad at the Olive Garden’s Culinary Institute of Tuscany. Shane (Katherine Moennig) saves Finley from taking this monumental step by showing up with a sledgehammer and an invitation to go “break stuff” at Bar #2.

When I tell you that the next montage of them breaking stuff like they´re in a lesbian Magic Mike movie which sounds awful to me is the most I´ve cringe at something this year. That was the most unnecesary thing I have seen in my life, I was very uncomfortable, I´m just going to block it and never talk about it again. Thankfully Tess (Jamie Clayton) shows up and interrupts the moment, she says they don’t start demo until tomorrow! Didn’t anyone read the calendar! Finley offers Tess a wack, for stress relief (which Tess is clearly in desperate need of right now) but Tess refuses so Finley takes the swing herself… bursting a water pipe. Anyhow Tess is very stressed out, probably mostly because of this terrible idea she herself had to buy a second bar for no reason. Which ends in more tension for our second favorite couple of the show on their way to break up, because no one in this show gets to be happy for more than five minutes.
In the house of Gigi, Dani is getting ready to leave when Nat knocks at the door. Gigi is still somewhat bedridden this morning and she can’t get ready by herself. Rather than informing her girlfriend of this, wearing something easier to put on, or just not attending a likely loud event while concussed, Gigi has called Nat to help her out! This certainly doesn’t please Dani, or me.

We venture back into the hallowed halls of California University and while walking to class, Angie (Jordan Hull) is on the phone with her mom, where she shares that Jordi has been texting her a lot, but other than that she’s all good. Her moms want to make sure she has her mace still (safety first!) and then Angie hangs up to focus on school. Angie has barely unpacked her backpack for her first day of the deeply imaginary freshman class “Introduction to Creative Writing” when she realizes the boy she kissed at the art show is in fact Hendrix (Simon Longnight) her new teacher!

I blame this on Pretty Little Liars, more specifically Ezra Fitz, this student/teacher thing will never in a million years be okay and is not something I want to keep seeing on my screen, so that´s about all I´ll say about them.
At the Alice Show, Shane brings Alice a framed copy of The Chart to celebrate. Alice loves it! Much better than the flowers from Bette and Tina and the basket of Bic pens from Tom, the man whose proposal she turned down in the space between season 2 and 3. Alice thinks Tom is a good friend, but Shane thinks he’s still hoping. Either way is fine with Alice, to be honest! Shane also brought a box of old hair products, which Alice doesn’t want, which is good because they’re actually for Ivy (Khelani). Alice knows something is up and instantly asks where Tess which I want to know as well.
Elsewhere backstage Dani is killing it at her job per usual. She’s walking around updating Sophie (Rosanny Zayas) on everything that she needs to know before the show, and Sophie is once again asking Dani to break down her personal boundaries and come over for dinner. She wants a double date! Dani, Dani’s ex who stood her up at the altar, Dani’s ex friend who ran away with her ex who stood her up at the altar, and Dani’s new girlfriend. Fun! Why does everyone act like Dani is the worst, when in fact is everyone else that has hurt her in the past and expect her to just get over it like it was nothing.

The Alice Show is about to start, and rather than head to the front of the stage Shane takes Ivy up on her offer to hang out behind it. Because like I said last week, Shane´s gonna Shane and character development does not exist in this show. So, of course she cheats on Tess and I´m so done.
Who is actually taking their seats? Nat and Gigi, who are sharing a reserved couch in the audience. Dani asks Gigi if she wants anything, and Nat says yes, champagne! Oh, and also, can Dani give this bag of oranges to Alice? The lady on the side of the freeway didn’t have flowers today.
Sophie’s in the middle of a crisis; contestant #3 is sloppy drunk and they need to find a replacement, asap.

Onstage, Alice is trying to get out of a straightjacket, watched by Nat and Gigi, who are flirting and sharing the bottle of champagne. It’s actually really hard to drink bubbly liquids with a straw, so this feels like fake advertising! Nat says that Gigi isn’t thinking straight, but Gigi’s still deep in her feels. I think it’s pretty normal to see the mother of your children who you met at 18 when you’re about to die, as opposed to your girlfriend of 1 year, and it doesn´t really mean anything more, but what do I know! Sophie tries to get Dani to do the dating show, but she refuses. That’s when she sees Taylor. Yay! And Dani sees Gigi and Nat holding hands. Sad.
And we are in that part of the episode people, I can sense the Gini break up coming and I´m already mad.
So is Gigi, who’s tired and about to head home. Dani goes to call Gigi a car (why Gigi can’t call her own cars is confusing to me), but Nat’s going to take Gigi home instead. Dani wants to know what’s going on. Now. My heart absolutely breaks for her, this is nearly the exact same situation she was in with Finley and Sophie; she doesn’t deserve for it to happen again. Justice for Dani! She´s convinced that something happened, and Gigi finally shares that in the ambulance, their “lips touched”. Dani is clearly heartbroken, and when Gigi says she’s confused, Dani says she’s done. I don’t understand why they’re breaking them up! They have the potential to be the new Bette and Tina we’ve just wrecked it.

In Nat’s car, Gigi is extraordinarily upset. Nat offers to let her sleep on her couch, a decently unnecessary offer given that, as we know, Gigi and Dani don’t actually live together yet. Gigi refuses, but she says that she should drive. Nat says she hasn’t even had that much to drink, but Gigi (who famously got in a car crash for texting while driving last episode) thinks that it’s Nat who’s the bad driver. There’s no time to swap seats, though, because at that moment Dani comes out and starts chucking oranges at the car. Nat can’t believe it! “That was for my ex! Our ex!” she exclaims, reminding us all of the hottest throuple to ever exist. And just like that, they are a couple no more.
I don´t know what to tell you, I think if it weren´t for the recaps I could have given up on this season already, but I´ll hold on for you folks.
I decided to make this a double review to get you all up to speed on what´s going on. So, last week, we witnessed two great couples getting massacred in the most senseless way.
It's Halloween and there are some dark moments and some sweet moments, including some long-awaited accountability on The L Word: Generation Q.

When the episode opens, Sophie (Rosanny Zayas) and Finley (Jacqueline Toboni) are getting coffee when Dani (Arienne Mandi) meets up with them. She tells them her "fun" friend Roxy (Paula Andrea Placido) is coming into town to take her out to party for Halloween. Dani ends up almost hooking up with Roxy, but she isn't fully over Gigi (Sepideh Moafi) yet. Roxy lets Dani know that when she's ready to date again, Roxy will be waiting for her. What? There´s already someone on queue for Dani, she only just broke up with Gigi, come on. What is this writing honestly, at least let the girl be single for a minute to figure herself out.
Alice's (Leisha Hailey) date with Taylor (Joey Lauren Adams) turned into a three day date that included them watching scary movies together on Halloween. Even though they obviously have chemistry, Taylor is holding back, which confuses Alice. While watching scary movies, Taylor finally tells Alice her contacts are bothering, having not taken them out in days. I feel this in my bones, because sometimes is confusing not knowing when the right time is to show the other person everything about you, like the real you, which is why it´s important to have that conversation and be honest about it. They still seem awkward around each other until they hear a noise outside and think someone is trying to break in. Taylor bravely opens the door to confront the threat, which is really just a Halloween decoration. Their brief scare breaks the tension and they are able to finally clear the air. Which I found very sweet and maybe there´s potential there. I just want Alice to be happy and get everything she wants.

Meanwhile, Tess and Shane are still out of sync, with Shane walking on eggshells. Tess is snippy at home, especially after Shane helps Tess' mom dress up as Dolly Parton for Halloween. Tess won't commit to Shane's dinner plans and seems generally irritated by her presence. Shane is clearly upset and frustrated by the situation. I can see the end coming friends. Later that night, Shane and Finley are behind the bar when Tess calls Shane to tell her the home health aide sent to help her mom was not the usual person, but a man named Victor. Tess is uncomfortable leaving her mom in a man’s care and tells Shane she isn't going to leave her mom. Shane, upset at the change in plans, hooks up with Ivy (Kehlani). Because, of ocurse she does. Finley, who had previously defended Shane with cheating accusations, sees Shane and Ivy. Later, she confronts Shane and calls her out for her, telling Shane what we´re all thinking, that she's a disappointment.
Maribel (Jillian Mercado) and Micah (Leo Sheng) attend a Halloween party given by someone Maribel works with who has four kids with her FTM trans partner. Micah has a laundry list parenting questions so he’s excited to meet these two and pick their brains. Maribel seems excited at first, but once they get to the party she's definitely put off.

At first Micah was the one who didn’t want to have a baby, but now that he's fully on board it seems like Maribel may not be ready for the realities of parenthood. She leaves early because she is tired, but Micah stays to hang out with the couple. I thought this was a very beautiful part of the episode, showing a queer family just existing in the world, showing us that all families are different and that´s okay.
Also, because this show loves to jump ahead so much, of course they just throw Angie already dating Samuel, her creative writing professor. And I do not want to comment on them.
Maribel's coworker's partner turns out to be Max (Daniel Sea), from the original L Word series. Max is a FTM trans character who was treated pretty badly in the original series. His storyline was not handled well and widely considered marginalizing. But here, Max and Micah really hit it off and eventually get a drink and talk more about parenting.
Shane, on her way to go talk to Ivy after they hooked up, runs into Max at the bar. They share a hug and catch up for a minute. But more importantly Shane apologizes to Max for how they all treated Max previously. Max, still being Max, tells Shane it was long ago and they were all different people then. Despite everything going on, I really enjoyed that, It felt like an apology not only coming from Shane but from everyone behind the scenes, at least I hope so. However this troubles Shane because she really isn't any different. Like so many other times before she's cheating on her partner because things are getting tough instead of communicating and dealing with issues.

When she meets up with Ivy again, she tells Ivy she can't keep doing what they're doing. Shane really wants to try and be a better person. Ivy and Shane agree they were what each other needed in that moment and they end things on a good note. But Shane turns around to find Tess standing there, having seen the entire interaction. Accountability is good, but this time it might be too late for Shane to save her relationship with Tess. Tess throws a drink in Shane’s face and leaves. Shane and Tess live together and they have businesses together, so the fallout of Shane’s betrayal could end up costing her a lot both emotionally and financially.

What are your thoughts on this season so far?

Who do you think will break up next?

Do you think there´s still hope for Shess?

Who do you think will cheat next?
