NEW YORK, N.Y. – Jan. 14, 2021 – CBS All Access, ViacomCBS’ digital subscription video on-demand and live streaming service, today announced several new and returning guest stars, all set to appear in the fourth season of its original, half-hour comedy series NO ACTIVITY. It was previously announced that the upcoming season will feature all of the fan favorite NO ACTIVITY characters in animated form.

The exciting group of new guest stars this season includes Louie Anderson (“Baskets,” “Search Party”), Kevin Bacon (“I Love Dick,” “City on a Hill”), Jillian Bell (“Brittany Runs a Marathon,” “Workaholics”), D’Arcy Carden (“The Good Place,” “Barry”), Rob Delaney (“Catastrophe,” “Deadpool 2”), Elle Fanning (“The Great,” “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil”), Will Forte (“The Last Man on Earth,” “Nebraska”), Kimberly Hébert Gregory (“Genius: Aretha,” “Vice Principals”), Udo Kier (“Bacurau,” “The Painted Bird”), Lamorne Morris (“Woke,” “Bloodshot”), Oscar Nuñez (“The Office,” “Mr. Iglesias”), Hannah Simone (“New Girl,” “Band Aid”), June Squibb (“Nebraska, “Godmothered”) and Samara Weaving (“Ready or Not,” “Hollywood”). Co-developer Patrick Brammall will reprise his starring role as Special Agent Nick Cullen and will be joined by returning guest stars Joe Keery as Officer Reinhardt, the new partner of Tim Meadows’ Judd Tolbeck; Sunita Mani as dispatch operator Fatima; Jason Mantzoukas as an undercover FBI agent; Bob Odenkirk as Greg, and Amy Sedaris as dispatch’s mother hen, Janice.
This season will find Special Agent Nick Cullen (Brammall) finally realizing his dream of joining the FBI, only to quickly discover being an FBI “special agent” isn’t what he expected it to be. When he’s assigned to a seemingly dull observation detail, he finds a potential career case in the form of an emerging cult, and when a large scale operation takes aim at the cult, it’s unclear which side will break first. Despite the promotion, Cullen’s path continues to cross with former partner Judd Tolbeck’s (Meadows), who is also adjusting to life with a new partner of his own.

NO ACTIVITY is produced by CBS Studios in association with Funny Or Die, Jungle and Gary Sanchez Productions, with animation production services provided by Flight School, and is based on the Stan original series produced by Jungle. The series is co-developed and executive produced by Brammall and Trent O’Donnell, alongside executive producers Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Joe Farrell, Mike Farah, Joe Hardesty and Jason Burrows. Nina Pedrad, Steve Toltz and Becca Kinskey serve as co-executive producers. As in previous seasons, O’Donnell will also direct.

CBS ALL ACCESS RENEWS “NO ACTIVITY” FOR A FOURTH SEASON

Previously Live Action, Upcoming Season Will Be Fully Animated

Binge the First Three Seasons Now, Exclusively on CBS All Access

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Oct. 29, 2020 – CBS All Access, ViacomCBS’ digital subscription video on-demand and live streaming service, today announced the fourth season renewal for its original, half-hour comedy series NO ACTIVITY.

In a departure from previous seasons, the fourth season will feature all the fan favorite NO ACTIVITY characters in animated form. This season will find Special Agent Nick Cullen (Patrick Brammall) realizing his dream of joining the FBI, but he will soon discover that being an FBI agent isn’t that special after all. After being assigned to a seemingly dull observation detail, he finds a potential career case in the form of an emerging cult. A large scale operation soon takes aim at the cult but it’s unclear which side will break first. Despite the promotion, Cullen’s path continues to cross with former partner Judd Toldbeck’s (Tim Meadows), who adjusts to life with a new partner of his own.

“We are so excited to welcome back the hilarious team behind NO ACTIVITY for a fourth season and can’t wait to show fans their favorite mediocre law enforcement agents brought to life in animated form,” said Julie McNamara, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming, CBS All Access. “Patrick Brammall and Trent O’Donnell never cease to amaze with their unique wit and ability to make the mundane lives of these cops extraordinarily funny, and we're thrilled that our long-standing partnership with Funny Or Die and Gary Sanchez Productions continues to grow and evolve. We look forward to the crazy antics and misunderstandings Cullen finds himself entangled in - and with whom - in the series’ fourth season.”

“We couldn’t be more excited for the opportunities animation will open up for the No Activity universe,” said Brammall and O’Donnell. “We love drawing and have always wanted to express ourselves creatively in that medium. Then the network saw our drawings and said they would be more comfortable hiring actual animation people. Our feelings were hurt but we’re still very excited.”

NO ACTIVITY’s third season found demoted detectives Cullen and Tolbeck back in uniform with a revolving door of quirky new partners and even quirkier criminals, while robots - and Dylan McDermott - tried to take over Janice and Fatima’s jobs in dispatch. Season three starred Brammall, Meadows and a stellar guest cast, including Beth Behrs, Joe Keery, Keegan-Michael Key, Sunita Mani, Jason Mantzoukas, Dylan McDermott, Paula Pell, Amy Schumer, Amy Sedaris and J.K. Simmons.

NO ACTIVITY is produced by CBS Studios in association with Funny Or Die, Jungle, and Gary Sanchez Productions, and is based on the Stan original series produced by Jungle. The series is co-developed and executive produced by Brammall and Trent O’Donnell, alongside executive producers Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Joe Farrell, Mike Farah, Joe Hardesty and Jason Burrows. Nina Pedrad, Steve Toltz, and Becca Kinskey serve as co-executive producers. As in previous seasons, O’Donnell will direct all episodes. Flight School Studio serves as the animation studio for the upcoming season.

Season four of NO ACTIVITY joins CBS All Access’ growing slate of original series that currently includes THE GOOD FIGHT, THE TWILIGHT ZONE, TOONING OUT THE NEWS, WHY WOMEN KILL, INTERROGATION, THE THOMAS JOHN EXPERIENCE, THAT ANIMAL RESCUE SHOW and TELL ME A STORY, as well as the upcoming limited event series THE STAND, TEXAS 6, THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH, THE HARPER HOUSE, FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE and GUILTY PARTY. CBS notes that moving forward they will adopt a mix of viewing options (weekly/binge release) based on their audience needs and what type of show it is per The Hollywood Reporter. Marc DeBevoise, president and COO of CBS Interactive notes that people watched more episodes of No Activity towards the end of the season rather than weekly hence the change to binge release during Thanksgiving weekend.

"We saw that when we dropped season one (which was weekly), a lot of people came in towards the end of the season and watched multiple episodes at once," DeBevoise told The Hollywood Reporter. "Given the timing of season two — dropping for Thanksgiving weekend — it was the perfect time and series for us to experiment with dropping all episodes at once."

DeBevoise said viewing patterns for CBS All Access shows vary from show to show, with a series like Star Trek: Discovery bringing a sizable amount of "appointment viewing." Going forward, the service will likely offer a mix of viewing options based on audience needs and the type of show.

NO ACTIVITY Stars Co-Creator Patrick Brammall and Tim Meadows Alongside Guest Stars Bridget Everett, Will Ferrell, Jake Johnson, Sunita Mani, Jason Mantzoukas, Jesse Plemons, Amy Sedaris, J.K. Simmons and More Launch of NO ACTIVITY Coincides With STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Chapter One Conclusion; New Episodes Released Weekly on Sundays Exclusively for CBS All Access Subscribers

the CBS Television Network’s digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service, today announced its first original comedy series, NO ACTIVITY, will premiere on Sunday, November 12, the same night as the chapter one conclusion of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY. New episodes of NO ACTIVITY will be available weekly on Sundays exclusively for CBS All Access subscribers.

“With NO ACTIVITY as CBS All Access’ first original comedy, we’re delivering our subscribers a new, premium series that continues to push artistic boundaries in interesting ways,” said Marc DeBevoise, President and Chief Operating Officer, CBS Interactive. “This is definitely not your average comedy; in addition to the all-star comedic cast, we have the incomparable creative team of Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Funny Or Die behind the series who are innovators in their field and will undoubtedly keep viewers laughing each week.”

NO ACTIVITY, a comedy series from executive producers Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Funny Or Die, marks CBS All Access’ first original comedy. In what should be a high stakes sting operation, NO ACTIVITY celebrates the mundane. Set against the world of a major drug cartel bust, the series follows two low-level cops who have spent far too much time in a car together; two criminals who are largely kept in the dark; two dispatch workers who haven’t really clicked; and two Mexican tunnelers who are in way too small a space considering they’ve only just met.

The cast of NO ACTIVITY includes co-creator Patrick Brammall and Tim Meadows along with guest stars Mark Berry, Arturo Castro, Mackenzie Davis, Bridget Everett, Will Ferrell, Darren Gilshenan, Travis Guba, Jake Johnson, Sunita Mani, Jason Mantzoukas, Adrian Martinez, Jesse Plemons, Fred Pohl, Alex Rodriguez, Amy Sedaris, J.K. Simmons, Courtenay Taylor, Michaela Watkins and Daniel Zolghadri.

NO ACTIVITY is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Funny Or Die and Gary Sanchez Productions, and is based on the Australian series produced by Jungle and broadcast by Stan. The series is co-created and executive produced by Trent O’Donnell and Patrick Brammall, alongside executive producers Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Jason Burrows and Joe Farrell. Trent O’Donnell will direct all episodes.

NO ACTIVITY joins CBS All Access’ growing slate of original series which currently includes THE GOOD FIGHT, returning for a second season in early 2018, and STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, which premiered on Sept. 24 and continues to roll out new episodes weekly on Sundays after 8:30 PM, ET. CBS All Access’ original series library will continue to expand with the additions of the previously announced $1, STRANGE ANGEL and additional programming to be announced.

LOS ANGELES – August 1, 2017 – CBS All Access, the CBS Television Network’s digital subscription video on-demand and live streaming service, today announced three new additions to its original programming slate: STRANGE ANGEL, NO ACTIVITY and $1. The series join CBS All Access’ existing slate, which includes the critically acclaimed drama THE GOOD FIGHT and the highly anticipated new “Star Trek,” STAR TREK: DISCOVERY. The announcement was made by Marc DeBevoise, President and Chief Operating Officer of CBS Interactive, at CBS’ biannual Television Critics Association presentation.

“CBS All Access is dedicated to delivering inventive, premium original programming for our subscribers and creating opportunities for world class content creators to find new, creative ways to tell stories,” said Marc DeBevoise, President and Chief Operating Officer, CBS Interactive. “The addition of STRANGE ANGEL, our first series based on a compelling and true story, NO ACTIVITY, our first comedy series, and $1, an innovative thriller, builds on the tremendous momentum CBS All Access has generated in its first season of original programming with THE GOOD FIGHT and the upcoming STAR TREK: DISCOVERY.”

The new additions to CBS All Access’ slate include:

STRANGE ANGEL, a drama series created by Mark Heyman (“Black Swan,” “The Wrestler”) and based on George Pendle’s book of the same name, explores the dramatic intersection between genius and madness, science and science fiction. The story follows the life of Jack Parsons, a mysterious and brilliant man in 1940s Los Angeles, who by day helps birth the entirely unknown discipline of American rocketry, and by night is a performer of sex magick rituals and a disciple to occultist Aleister Crowley. STRANGE ANGEL will be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Scott Free Productions. Mark Heyman, David DiGilio, Ridley Scott and David W. Zucker will serve as executive producers; Clayton Krueger will be co-executive producer, and David Lowery (“A Ghost Story,” “Pete’s Dragon”) will direct and executive produce.

NO ACTIVITY, a comedy series from Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Funny Or Die, marks CBS All Access’ first original comedy. NO ACTIVITY will be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Gary Sanchez and Funny Or Die and is based on the Australian series produced by Jungle and broadcast by Stan. Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Patrick Brammall, Trent O'Donnell, Jason Burrows and Joe Farrell will serve as executive producers. NO ACTIVITY will debut before year’s end between the two chapters of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY.

$1 is a mystery/thriller set in a small rust belt town in post-recession America, where a one-dollar bill changing hands connects a group of characters involved in a shocking multiple murder. The path of the dollar bill and point of view in each episode paint a picture of a modern American town with deep class and cultural divides that spill out into the open as the town’s secrets get revealed. $1 will be produced by CBS Television Studios. The series is created by Jason Mosberg. Matt DeRoss and Alexandre Dauman will serve as executive producers, and Craig Zobel (“Compliance,” “The Leftovers”) will direct and executive produce.

CBS All Access’ original programming slate currently includes:

From the creators of “The Good Wife,” Robert and Michelle King, THE GOOD FIGHT’s first season is currently available to stream on CBS All Access, and the series will return for a second season in early 2018 with an expanded season order of 13 episodes. In addition, it was announced today that Broadway icon Audra McDonald is joining the cast as a series regular alongside Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo, Rose Leslie, Delroy Lindo, Sarah Steele, Justin Bartha, Michael Boatman and Nyambi Nyambi. The series is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Scott Free Productions and King Size Productions.

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY will launch Sunday, Sept. 24 with a broadcast premiere that night on the CBS Television Network airing 8:30-9:30 PM, ET/PT*. The series premiere will also be available on-demand on CBS All Access, and the second episode of the series will be available on the service that same night immediately following the broadcast premiere. After premiere night, all new episodes will be available on-demand weekly on Sundays exclusively for CBS All Access subscribers in the U.S. The 15-episode season will be released in two chapters: the first eight episodes will run from Sunday, Sept. 24 through Sunday, Nov. 5, and the second chapter will resume in January 2018. STAR TREK: DISCOVERY is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout, Bryan Fuller’s Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment.

In addition, CBS All Access will offer a companion after-show for STAR TREK: DISCOVERY produced by Embassy Row in association with Roddenberry Entertainment. The after-show will air following each new episode of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY. Additional details will be announced in the coming weeks.
