Luana: There were so many memorable moments in this season, and with flaws and all this show has portrayed some of the most pressing issues for young generations today. You could never say this show went unnoticed and there’s a reason so many felt touched by it. In their speeches, Clay and Jessica talked about love and loss and tried to give everyone a push to keep moving forward, no matter what, even when it all seems like it’s too much. This felt like it was a perfect goodbye for this groundbreaking show.
Justyna: Introducing Agent Daniel Sousa on the show has certainly been one of the highlights of the season. I really enjoyed his character on "Agent Carter" but I'm already loving his addition to the SHIELD team. I used to think that Daniel and Peggy got their happy ending after the interrupted run of her series. To learn that his fate was to become the first fallen Agent of SHIELD was such a sad surprise. It did make all the sense in the world, though. Agent Sousa has proved to be one of the best spies and agents on both shows, so the fact that he discovered the truth about Hydra decades before everyone else, only proves his talent and skills. I'm so glad that Mack and the rest of the team made the decision to save him. He never gets a chance to say goodbye to his loved ones, he finds himself in a different time and surrounded by strangers, but he's alive. And he takes the news as well as he possibly could. I liked how open Coulson was with his introduction to this new reality. "Life after death" is of course something he's very familiar with and this time he gets to be there for someone else going through an impossible experience. Welcome to the team, Agent Sousa! Glad to have you here.
Dahne: Lizzie is forced between choosing to humiliate herself on Facebook for a creepy ex's vanity or keeping Jackie from getting a needed job. What I love about this scene is that Lizzie starts by explaining to Jackie about how the only thing she has left is her dignity. She's pleading her case but for once Jackie is very understanding and agrees that Lizzie should not humiliate herself. It's this understanding that forces Lizzie to realize that none of the people on Facebook are worth as much to her as a sister. For only having 13 episodes, the character of Lizzie has had a great arc and has become one of my favorite new characters.

COUNCIL OF DADS, "Heart Medicine", June 4, 2020, Actors: Thalia Tran, Sarah Wayne Callies and more
The Scene: Charlotte comes out at the ashes ceremony
Luana: This scene was so heartwarming, not only because of how much love there is here but also because of how it made Oliver feel as well. He was so happy that Charlotte felt safe to come out to her family so young when it took him so much more time. It was all absolutely adorable.

Justyna: This is one of the craziest (if not the craziest) shows that I've ever seen. I caught up with the series in between seasons and it's still hard to believe even half of the things that happened to its main characters so far. But underneath all the insanity this show is filled with tragic stories and painful past of every single member of Doom Patrol. In the season premiere, Negative Spirit shows Larry a vision of his son, Gary. He's now an older man, but he still misses his father and doubts whether he was ever proud of his kids. Larry tries to reach out to him but it's far too late as he realizes that Gary is taking his own life and there's nothing he could do about it. The vision stops and later Larry checks the news to confirm his fears. Gary is gone. After attending his funeral from the distance Larry meets with his other son and eventually finds his way to Gary's house, or rather a barn next to the house. Inside there's a number of mementos of Larry kept by his son throughout all these years. He never stopped believing that his father has survived the crash, he looked for him decades later and never truly moved on. The realization that he wasn't there for his kids, not before or after his personal tragedy, hurts Larry to the core. He breaks down after finding a letter from young Gary addressed to him, asking him to come back. It's an absolutely heartbreaking and very memorable moment.

HIGHTOWN, "The White Whale", June 21, 2020, Actors: Monica Raymund, Amaury Nolasco
The Scene: Jackie confronts Frankie
Folie-lex: It's been no secret I've had my issues with Jackie all season, but she truly came into her own in this scene. Frankie is the reason Sherry was killed. And finding her on that beach is what haunts Jackie and has accelerated this downward spiral she can't get herself out of. Coming face to face with him and finding some purpose in that was cathartic for the character and gave her arc some proper direction and intent. Not to mention Monica killed it.

IN THE DARK, "The Last Dance", June 18, 2020, Actors: Perry Mattfeld, Brooke Markham, Nicki Micheaux, The Scene: Jess shoots Nia
Beth: Jess came through in the nick of time to save Murphy's life even though their friendship was at a breaking point. It showed that while the two may be strained, Jess will always be Murphy's person. It was also such a shocking moment that it would be Jess, who saved Nia earlier in the season, to pull the trigger.

LOVE LIFE, "Sara Yang", June 11, 2020, Actors: Anna Kendrick, Zoë Chao
The Scene: Darby breaks up with her best friend
Luana: This scene was heartbreaking, Darby kept trying to help Sara and she thought she had gotten through to her, but when she realized it was all going to stay the same she decided to make a choice, a very hard one. You can see how much pain she’s in but she knows there’s no other way. This show was a very pleasant surprise and I love that they didn’t just focus on romantic relationships but also those with family and friends.

SNOWPIERCER, "Without Their Maker", June 7, 2020, Actors: Jennifer Connelly, Kerry O'Malley, The Scene: Melanie wins the stand-off with Lilah
Dahne: There were a lot of great scenes in this intense, gamechanger episode. However, instead of one of the more epic scenes, it is this one that fascinated me. When Lilah demands to speak to Mr. Wilford, Melanie is seconds away from losing control. Instead, she bluffs magnificently. It's a power struggle in a way that only two very powerful women maneuver, with a tour de force performance from both actors. When Melanie offers the phone to Lilah with that penetrating stare, I had goosebumps. There is no doubt that Melanie is the ultimate power on this train and she doesn't need a weapon to prove it.
Justyna: For a while I couldn't quite decide which scene to highlight from this show. It has turned out to be such a nice surprise and had many memorable moments that aired during this month, including Joey's death, a flashback to Yolanda's past and Rick learning the truth about his parents' death. In the end, I decided to highlight the first confrontation between the new JSA led by Courtney and two of the deadliest members of the ISA - Sportsmaster and Tigress. The teenagers were clearly not ready for this fight but it was such an impressive scene overall. All the individual battles were a great display of everyone's skills and possibilities. I really appreciate the extended shots without constant cuts and the wire work didn't bother me at all. Yolanda managed to survive her fight with Tigress with a little help from Beth. Rick was injured by Sportsmaster but saved by Stargirl who actually managed to hold her own against Sportsmaster, but couldn't take down the married duo fighting together. Just when the two teams are standing opposite each other, ready for another attack, S.T.R.I.P.E. shows up and the ISA leaves. I loved that we actually got to see the shot from Crisis on Infinite Earths. Kudos to the cast, stunt crew and everyone responsible for making this one memorable. I'm very interested to see how this new JSA will continue to grow and learn from each experience.
Folie-lex: It was a toss up between this and Sutton's final breakdown, but we're far from done with the baby issue so I had to give this scene the edge. Jacqueline and Ian's marriage has spent most of S4 being on the fritz. And when they've had the whole episode expecting us for another backtrack in their relationship, we instead have Ian step up like it's nobody's business, not only swooping in with a big gesture, but making sure it's done under the right context. These two might actually make it. I sure hope they do!
Luana: This was a heartbreaking episode for Sutton, she’s in so much pain and feels so much guilt. But it also killed me to see in Richard's face how much he wishes he could take her pain away and how heartbroken he is about being unable to do that. It was a small moment but the hug they shared said absolutely everything without many words.

WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, "Nouveau Théâtre des Vampires", June 10, 2020, Actors: Harvey Guillén and more, The Scene: Guillermo goes on a vampire slaughter spree at the theatre
Folie-lex: The whole season, I'd even argue the whole show, had been leading up to this moment... and it was exactly as EPIC as it was meant to be! Guillermo went full-on slayer, I'm sure Buffy herself would be impressed.

YOU ME HER, "Home Is Where the Flaming Heart Is", June 7, 2020, Actors: Melanie Papalia, Priscilla Faia and more, The Scene: The ending
Luana: This show was such a great surprise for me, so funny and heartfelt, and it brought me some of my favorite characters ever. Nina is my spirit animal and her friendship with Izzy was epic, so seeing them all together as a big happy family warmed my heart. They all managed to get over their preconceived ideas of what their lives should be and they found a way to be happy, and that’s something that feels all the more essential every day.
2. Renee: “You're not my pimp, Frankie. Alright? You're not... you're not my boss. You know you're not even my f!cking husband. I'm not 19 anymore, looking at you with puppy-dog eyes, Mr.Big Shot dealer taking me to Sizzler. I'm a grown woman.” (Folie-lex)
3. Frankie : “Why are you here?” Jackie: “You brought me here Frankie. I'm the one who found Sherry Henry on the beach. And I went kinda crazy after that started looking into it found out it was you. I mean that wasn't a secret. Cops knew that sh!t day one. But then you had Krista Collins killed, and I'm like "Who is this f!ucking dude? He must have some big old balls, killing these girls like they're nothing". So I wanted to see you. And now that I'm here I see that you are nothing.

About the Daily Ratings

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database. The Ratings Post is made available around 30 minutes before the normal release of the Early Overnight Preliminary Ratings so give people a chance for a quick chat in the comments beforehand should they wish to do so.

Normally between 4pm-5pm GMT we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above. Finally, later in the evening (9pm-10pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database as well as the above tables.

The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc . Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday (9pm GMT), whilst Sunday's will be available on Tuesdays (3pm GMT).
A hurricane, earthquakes, the whole island without power. And that guy comes and he throws a bunch of paper towels, and then he’s like “Bye!”. Now imagine something happening on a global scale. Something so huge, it completely shuts everything down, and we’re stuck waiting for someone to lead us while we watch episodes of our favorite TV shows, but now they have to be animated. I know, it sounds crazy, but look into my eyes and tell me that that’s the guy who will get us through it. Remember when we used to joke about this stuff? 'I’m a crazy liberal, you’re a stuffy conservative, ha ha ha.' I miss that. Us being on opposite sides isn’t new. But now it’s different. This guy made it different. People used to actually try to hide their racism. But the president made it cool again! We have to stand up for one another now more than ever. That’s why we need to say black lives matter, trans lives matter, brown lives matter. When he calls Mexicans drug dealers and rapists, you think that doesn’t affect you? Do you think if your son was in that Walmart where the guy said he was there to shoot all the Mexicans, he would’ve stopped to ask if Flavio was Cuban before pulling the trigger? He wouldn’t have cared. Because the president told him immigrants are dangerous and don’t deserve to be here. You want to keep us safe? How about not deporting people who fought for this country. Who served with me, who risked their lives for you? Crazy idea, what if, when people came to this country, we were like 'Oh, are you fleeing a horrible situation? Please, come on in, it’s all good! Love your food, love your music. Anyway, we’re gonna give you a little help. Oh, God, you’re doing amazing! You’ve actually made this place better!' Oh wait, that’s not a crazy idea. That was literally us when our family fled Cuba! How quickly we forget! America is great because we don’t just fight for ourselves. We fight for people we will never meet. Just like when our parents came here. Strangers organized their trips, arranged for them to be safe. Strangers. We can’t benefit from the kindness of strangers and then turn our backs on the ones who need us to stand up for them. Because that’s what kept us safe. And that’s what’s beautiful about this country.” (Jamie Coudeville)
Welcome to the second set of pitches. Shows from #-A were compiled in the first article, which is linked below. Again, thank you to everyone who helped with the pitches. To keep the articles shorter and more readable, all pitches were edited for length, clarity, and grammar. Nominations were also limited to 3 per show with a couple very popular shows having more. I am truly sorry if your nomination is not in here. Know that I appreciate your time and pitches. Making the choice of what went in was difficult. After all sections are posted, I will include a link to the original spreadsheet so you can read them all in their unedited entirety.
Banshee - Cinemax
-4 seasons, 38 episodes

1. E. R. Marshall - Banshee is such a fun series to watch. The series follows Lucas Hood, a man recently released from prison, taking on the alias of Banshee's murdered sheriff. The series is brilliantly over the top in all aspects: action, violence, and drama. It's what makes Banshee so loveable.

2. Bradley Adams - Banshee is like Game of Thrones, except it’s more violent, more sexual, more vulgar, and more relentlessly entertaining. Set in the small Amish town of Banshee, Pennsylvania, this Cinemax gem follows a nameless ex-con (the charismatic Antony Starr) who stumbles into stealing the town sheriff’s identity as he looks to escape a vengeful former employer (Ben Cross, menacing as you like) and reunite with his former flame (a charming and fearsome Ivana Miličević). Sheriff Lucas Hood has present concerns as well as past ones: Banshee is run by Amish gangster Kai Proctor (Ulrich Thomsen, in an intimidating and considered performance for the ages) and an unbribable sheriff is not good for business. Come for the violence - endless makeup artistry, sickening bone sounds and flawless stunt coordination - but stay for the thrill of Hood going toe-to-toe with the worst of the worst. Banshee is engaging from the get-go, has masterful lead and supporting performances (watch three episodes and wrongly say Hoon Lee’s Job isn’t the best thing you’ve seen on television - I dare you), is magnificently written and directed, and might even break your heart a couple of times.
Batman: The Animated Series - DC Universe
- 6 seasons, 109 episodes

1. The North Remembers - This Emmy Award winning series from prolific animators Bruce Timm and Paul Dini to this day portrays the most accurate depiction of the Dark Knight in mainstream media. It’s voiced by Kevin Conroy, who ended up portraying the character in live-action years later in the Arrowverse. Bruce Wayne fights crime in Gotham City as the Vigilante Batman, keeping the streets safe from criminals and supervillains while he struggles to balance his two lives. What most iterations don’t portray, however, is the human side of Batman. This series depicts how he empathizes and even tries to help the criminals he fights, showing a sympathetic understanding side to him that often gets overlooked. It is also due to this series that original characters such as Harley Quinn and Mister Freeze were later incorporated into the comics and the Batman mythos. With action, humor, and heart, this series remains a staple to TV viewers and comic fans alike. It was so popular that subsequent superhero series were spun off of it, from Superman to the entire Justice League.
Batman Beyond - DC Universe
- 3 seasons, 52 episodes

1. The North Remembers - In this sequel to Batman: The Animated Series, a lifetime of crime fighting and old age have finally taken a toll on Bruce Wayne so he ends up retiring and going into self-imposed exile. Years later, a series of events leads troublemaking 16-year-old Terry McGinnins to Bruce’s doorstep. Learning of Bruce’s secret and having a personal need to avenge the death of his father, Terry takes up Bruce’s mantle as the new Batman, keeping the streets of Neo Gotham safe from both old enemies of the original Dark Knight and a slew of his own rogues. In contrast to Bruce, Terry is a much more easygoing Batman who, while new to the life and no doubt talented, is more of a wisecracking smartass. While he does seek to keep Gotham safe, he is not as obsessive as he has his family and personal life to balance with his new ‘job’. It is a timeless series, three seasons long, including a movie where Terry fights against the Joker himself (Mark Hamill). This is a show that Batman fans of all ages will love.
Being Human - Vudu
-4 seasons, 52 episodes

1. The North Remembers - The title says it all. This is a horror / drama / comedy show that is surprisingly entertaining. Three roommates live together: a vampire (Sam Witwer), a werewolf (Sam Huntington), and the ghost that haunts the house they all share (Meaghan Rath). It may sound like the setup to a bad joke but it honestly is one of the most heartfelt, fun shows I have seen in a very long time. Despite the protagonists being monsters, the show deals with a lot of relatable themes as the characters struggle with problems such as trying to fit into the world and wrestling with personal demons. Through it all, they ultimately come to realize that despite being of difference races, they are the only ones who can understand one another.
Better Call Saul - Netflix, AMC
-5 seasons, 50 episodes

1. E. R. Marshall - Better Call Saul did the impossible by turning an unlikable character into somebody loveable. It is a prequel/spin-off about how Jimmy McGill becomes Saul Goodman. Not only Jimmy, but all the characters featured have so much depth to them. The storytelling is a magical, slow burn that requires patience but it's worth it. I promise, if you enjoyed Breaking Bad, you will absolutely enjoy Better Call Saul.
The Blacklist - Netflix, NBC
- 7 seasons, 153 episodes

1. Leonie - If you want to see a show where you think you know the answer and again and again are proven wrong, then this is a must see. It is about a master criminal, but what is his agenda? It also has amazing Blacklisters and a taskforce working on its own or are they? The show is wonderfully written and perfectly cast and played. Of course, the main character is Raymond Reddington, played by the intriguing and wonderful James Spader

2. Blanka Rubenbauer - This is the best crime series ever. It has a great story and famous actors.
Bless This Mess - ABC
-2 seasons, 26 episodes

1. Folie-lex - Bless This Mess – Rio and Mike, two quintessential New Yorkers, pack their lives to become farmers in a small town in rural Nebraska, taking up the farm Mike’s aunt left him. Does the show rely on the “big city kids in a small quirky town” trope? Sure! Still, watching these two go through this life-changing decision, relying on the steadiness of their marriage and their spunk to become members of this oddball community makes Bless This Mess so supremely charming. Don’t be disheartened by a rocky start and the townies “meanness”. You will grow to love everyone in Bucksnort as Rio and Mike do, while they themselves worm their way into the town’s heart. (The show deciding to lean way more on its ensemble in S2 was an inspired creative decision.) Lake Bell and Dax Sheppard’s chemistry only helps to elevate the spectacular portrayal of this beautiful marriage, and they are both excellent on their own on top of that. A star-studded supporting cast, which includes Pam Grier, Lennon Parham, Ed Begley Jr, and David Koechner to name a few, round up the ensemble and let me tell you, it’s a joy watching them all work in all and any combo.
Blindspot - NBC, Hulu
-5 seasons, 100 episodes

1. Samantha Ricci - Blindspot is a badass show with a team that lives and dies for each other. It is jam packed with action and drama and heartache. It is a show that I love and I know that you will too because it hooks you in from the beginning and you will be left wanting more.

2. Luana - With a great cast and fun, smart, badass characters, Blindspot could’ve been any procedural and still have been okay. However, it starts off with an original premise, something that makes you stick around for the mystery and then follows the story to the very last consequences. Here, things are never just right or wrong. Even if some of the characters can try to make it seem that way, the show itself is full of grays and not afraid to defy the typical tropes. At this point, it’s on its very last season and gearing up to what promises to be an epic series finale, so if you have some free time, it's definitely bingeable.

3. Maria Sol - If you’re looking for a bingeable show, Blindspot is a great option. I just watched over 3 seasons in a month because I just couldn’t stop, so if you start now, you’ll be caught up before the series finale airs in a few weeks. The main story revolves around a woman that comes out of a bag in the middle of Times Square with no memory but a lot of tattoos on her body. Soon, she’s starts working with an FBI team, trying to solve the mystery surrounding her. The story keeps evolving through the seasons, answering some of the puzzles and presenting us with new ones while the team faces different villains. It also shows the development of the main characters and the changing relationships between them, which makes you end up loving them.
Blood & Treasure - Amazon Prime, CBS All Access
-1 season, 13 episodes

1. Lou - Do you like fun action adventure stories like Indiana Jones or the Brendan Fraser Mummy films? Then Blood & Treasure is the show for you! This globetrotting series is the definition of fun and the chemistry between the two main characters, Danny and Lexi, is delicious and makes every scene pop. There is treasure, ancient Egyptian artifacts, Nazis, and stealing - lots of stealing! It’s the perfect binge for these weird times.

Editor's note: I have been waiting for this show to return all year. It's a perfect, breezy summer show that's high on adventure and fun. I highly second this pitch.
Bosch - Amazon Prime
-6 seasons, 60 episodes

1. The North Remembers - Based on the books of the same name by Michael Connelly, Titus Welliver stars is this dark, gripping crime drama as the haunted LAPD Detective Harry Bosch. The show starts off with Bosch on trial for murdering a serial killer suspect as he struggles to solve the cold case murder of a 13-year-old boy while also confronting a past he has long tried to bury. He struggles to reconcile his past as he deals with the consequences resulting from the suspect he shot. Gritty and captivating with character driven plots, this series put Amazon Prime programming on the map. It is a must watch before its recently renewed seventh and final season airs.
BrainDead - Amazon Prime, CBS All Access
-1 season, 13 episodes

1. Lou - Politics is strange; it is even stranger when alien space bugs start eating the brains of residents and politicians in Washington, DC. BrainDead only ran for one season in the summer of 2016 before real life politics went truly mad, but it captures the moment very well. The show is frequently hilarious and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is fantastic in the role of Laurel, who, after taking a job with her senator brother, starts to realise something really isn't right on Capitol Hill. It’s a one-season wonder that deserves more attention.
Breakout Kings - Hulu
- 2 seasons, 23 episodes

1. The North Remembers - From the creators of Prison Break, this is a show about a pair of US Marshals who create a special task force that realizes sometimes, to catch a criminal, you need other criminals. Convicts recruited include Erica Reed (Serinda Swan), a bounty hunter who killed the five men who murdered her father and hid the bodies so well that the only criminal action that stuck was a weapons charge, Shea (Malcolm Goodwin), an ex-gang leader with deep connections in the trafficking trade who can get anything and everything from guns to drugs, and Lowery, a disgraced doctor whose crime cost him his medical license and, unlike his colleagues, is the only one who willingly went to prison. Together they chase after escaped prisoners and other notorious criminals in exchange for reduced sentences and maybe even redemption.
Brockmire - Hulu
-4 seasons, 32 episodes

1. Luana - In honor of the same feature that first introduced me to the show and given the fact that it just aired its final episode, I thought pitching it here made sense. This is worth watching anyways, but knowing a show has been properly wrapped up only makes me more confident in recommending it. Jim Brockmire (Hank Azaria) is a cynical baseball announcer, who lives a life filled with vice and acid humor. I’m not a baseball fan and that never stopped me from enjoying this show because, just like all the best sports shows and movies, it’s not about the sport; it’s about humanity, and in this case, maybe even some kind of redemption. It’s hard for me to find something that makes me actually laugh out loud but this one did more times than I can count, and its take on a dystopian future during the final season is just as brilliant and hilarious as I’ve come to expect from this show. If you’ve never watched this, do yourself a favor and look it up because there’s a big chance you’ll want to binge it all.

Editor's Note: I love that you pitched a show that you originally heard of through Pitch Your Show. That's everything I hoped for with this feature.
Broke - CBS All Access
-1 season, 12 episodes?

1. Folie-lex - Broke follows a lower middle class, single mother who takes in her estranged sister, her rich husband, and their assistant after they get cut off from the family fortune. Sounds dumb right? I certainly thought so when I first read the show’s logline. Well I’m happy to announce that however the show might sound on paper, it certainly is nothing like what you’d expect when you watch it. Broke is full of warmth and heart and love. With wonderful, relatable characters, beautiful inter-character dynamics, and great family stories, it will make you laugh and “Aw!” each week. This little multicam sitcom was such a pleasant surprise from CBS, and deserved more than the one short season it was eventually granted. Still, watch it. It’s well worth your time.
Brotherhood - Showtime
- 3 seasons, 29 episodes

1. The North Remembers - A three-season long show and the earliest example of Showtime’s ability to make an intertwined, engaging series, Brotherhood is set in ‘The Hill’ neighbourhood of Rhode Island. The show centers on brothers Michael and Tommy Caffee, who live two very different lives. Michael is a career criminal with connections to the Irish mob, who seeks to help his community by uniting all the warring factions underneath him. Tommy aspires to do the same from his position as a politician, fixing The Hill within the confines of the law and legal system. As Michael and Tommy navigate their respective lives all in the name of doing good, they realize the criminal and political worlds are often not so different and to make it through they will need one another’s help.
Burn Notice - Hulu, Amazon Prime
Castle - Hulu, Amazon Prime
- 8 seasons, 173 episodes

1. Luana - Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) is a writer who gets permission to shadow Detective Beckett (Stana Katic) for inspiration on his next novel. This is the initial reason for the work dynamic, but then he not only gets hooked on the work but also the people. Along with an amazing cast that includes Jon Huertas and Seamus Dever, the team manages to create a great working relationship as they get more and more in sync. Not every procedural manages to keep working well for so long, and on this one, it’s probably in big part thanks to the chemistry of the actors. Castle never lacked popularity, but just like The Mentalist or House MD, this is one of those shows that can also be a pleasure to rewatch.

2. Ryan - Castle is not only my #1 favorite show of all time, it is easily one of TV's most currently underrated crime-comedy gems! The entire cast's collective chemistry was off-the-charts amazing!
Chase - Philo
-1 season, 18 episodes

1. The North Remembers - Before getting her big break on SVU, Kelli Giddish starred as the leading lady in this action series as Annie Frost, the feisty, hard-hitting officer in charge of the fugitive apprehension division of the US Marshals. She leads a group of officers who are as persistent and determined as she is, including Jimmy Godfrey (Cole Hauser), Annie’s right hand confidant and team co-leader who is not above working with criminals to get results, Marco Martinez (Amaury Garrido), an ex-cop who left the department under suspicious circumstances, Daisy Ogbaa (Rose Rollins), a weapons specialist with a dark past who can tell a lot about someone by the gun, knife, or bomb they use, and rookie Luke Watson (Jesse Metcalfe), a prep school legal expert who tends to be a stickler for the rules but comes to quickly learn the morally gray world they work in. What really made Chase stand out was how they showed the motives and lives of the criminals they hunted like why they committed their crimes. It also did not pull punches, as a teammate was lost before the season ended.
Continuum -
-4 seasons, 42 episodes

1. The North Remembers - In the year 2077, a terrorist group known as Liber8 are to be executed after an attack of theirs killed thousands. Using a time travel device, the criminals escape their sentence and travel back to the year 2012, taking future cop Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols) with them. Once in the past, the group seeks to change the future for their own purposes while Keira works with boy genius Alec Sadler, who will grow up to develop the technology of Keira’s time. The two initially work to stop Liber8’s plans but as the series progresses, Keira begins to wonder if the future she wants to protect is in the end worth saving and maybe Liber8’s goals are somewhat justified. Alliances shift, agendas change, and some characters you start off hating end up becoming characters you love, while others you liked will end up being characters you despise. Continuum is a very thought-provoking series that any science fiction fan will love.
Coroner - CBC
-2 seasons, 16 episodes

1. The North Remembers - Based on a series of books by M.R Hall, Jenny Cooper (Serinda Swan) is a recent widow who takes a job as a coroner and investigates the most bizarre crimes from murders to unexplained deaths. While she is an expert in her profession, Jenny struggles with the difficult aspects of her life, be it her duty as a single mother to her son, dealing with her father suffering from dementia, her own issues of chronic anxiety, or even clashing with her more put together detective partner (Roger Cross). While it is a typical “case of the week” whodunnit mystery series, the show depicts, in a believable and thought-provoking way, how everyday people are affected by anxiety and mental health issues and how more often than not it's the people you least expect that are affected. The CW recently picked up the distribution rights and is set to air it this fall.
Counterpart - Amazon Prime
-2 seasons, 20 episodes

1. Baxter - Counterpart is a series eerily relevant today...with the added twist of a parallel universe! Set in an exotic location, JK Simmons plays dual roles in a spy thriller worthy of John Le Carre novel! It was cancelled too soon but with extra viewership, it may have a third life?

2. Folie-lex - I don’t think I can sum up Counterpart’s premise well enough without giving too much away, but let me try. The show follows Howard Silk, a mild mannered clerk of an international agency who, following his wife's tragic accident, learns something about his job that shifts his world view to its core. That's kinda what the show is about. What it actually is, is a brilliant, intricate, intelligent sci-fi neo-noir. JK Simmons is unsurprisingly exceptional, but Nazanin Boniadi, Olivia Williams, Sara Serraiocco and Harry Loyd will equally impress you. The aesthetic, style, and overall look of the show is undeniably captivating and the whole thing is beautifully shot, making the best use of its Berlin setting. Two short seasons of it were simply not enough.
Creepshow -
-1 season, 6 episodes

1. The North Remembers - Every generation has that anthology show that tells cautionary tales with a creepy horror narrative and is loosely based off of a book series, from Tales from the Crypt to Are You Afraid of the Dark? What makes Creepshow standout is how it takes that concept and kicks it up a notch in horror and yet is able to stay grounded and campy, which adds to its own identity. Rather than make it about terror and gore, it’s essentially a look back to the retro shows which told tales to give you a jump and a chuckle. It’s apparently based on an old 80’s movie, but it doesn’t seem necessary to watch the movie to understand the show.
Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders - CBS All Access
-2 seasons, 26 episodes

1. The North Remembers - I always feel due to the US election coverage of the time, this show gets a bad rap for its subject matter. Just like Criminal Minds, this spin-off features a team of FBI agents who travel the world to stop criminals. The difference is that the International Response Team (IRT) goes to countries outside the US and are tasked with solving cases that involve American citizens on international soil or chasing criminals who flee the states. Leading the team is Jack Garrett (Gary Sinise), a veteran FBI agent and father of six who is third generation law enforcement with his eldest son set to be the fourth. Clara Seger (Alana de la Garza) is a cultural and linguistic expert whose knowledge of country customs help them deal with local policy. Matt Simmons (Daniel Henney) is a special ops soldier who serves as both the team’s muscle and tactician. Monty (Tyler James Williams) is the team’s tech analyst who also serves as grief counselor to the families of the victims his team helps. Finally, Mae Jarvis is a medical examiner turned field agent. While the show was cancelled after two seasons, it has a satisfactory ending.
The Crossing -
-1 season, 11 episodes

1. The North Remembers - The Crossing is a one-season show that sadly didn’t last long. A group of refugees from a war-torn country washup on the beaches of a small American town. The residents soon learn that the country they are fleeing from is the US, and the war they are escaping is one that will happen 180 years from now. The refugees suddenly become suspect to a government organization seeking to untangle the truth behind the conspiracy. Some of the refugees want to start peaceful lives, while others have their own nefarious plans for returning to the past. At the centre of the story is Reece (Natalie Martinez), one of the refugees with superhuman abilities, seeking her daughter who was separated from her during the “time crossing.” Working alongside Reece is a terminally ill doctor (Georgina Haig) who aids Reece in hopes of using Reece's abilities to help cure herself. It's only one season but it tells an open and shut story while leaving room for potentially more.
CSI: NY - CBS All Access
-9 season, 197 episodes

1. The North Remembers - Detective Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) leads the crime scene unit of the NYPD. Mac is a tenacious but wounded figure, still grieving the loss of his wife who died in the 9/11 attacks. He views this as the definition of unjust and it is his driving force for why he does his job. While episodes do have the typical case of the week, what makes New York stand out is it's the most character driven of the four shows. The show delves deep into the characters, focusing on their relationships on and off work. It fleshes them out with deep, intriguing backstories, whether it's Danny’s history with a dangerous gang, Stella’s time in foster care, or why Lindsay gets heated when cases involve young girls. The show also has humor, thanks largely to sardonic detective Don Flack, who always seems to have a smartass remark or offhand nickname for whoever pisses him off. Most importantly was how well the show developed things between Danny and Lindsay. They started as colleagues and then friends before marrying with children. That alone makes them the gold standard of TV cop partner relationships.
Justyna: I missed this show so much. And I really missed Coulson. He's truly the heart and soul of the series for me and it's been hard not having him around last season. Even though we're introduced to Coulson LMD, not his true self, he still seems so much like Coulson I've known and cared about since the first Iron Man movie. This was a memorable season premiere but this is certainly the scene that hit me the most. Daisy doesn't hesitate to wake up our new Coulson and for a brief moment things are as if nothing ever happened. It takes a bit for his mind to catch up to the present. Two years of memories flood him in a matter of seconds. I'm glad that Daisy chooses not to hide the fact that he's a Chronicom LMD, as hard as it is for him to accept it. Becoming a copy of himself is something that Coulson never wanted, nor would he wish to be brought back from the dead. Again. Watching Coulson process this new reality is quite heartbreaking. The realization what happened to Fitz, May, Talbot, everything hurts. His reaction and the repetition of "I'm dead anyway" is too much to take in and Mack chooses to switch off the LMD, at least for a while. Clark Gregg does such a fantastic job in the scene. It's impossible not to care about this new Coulson as he's struggling with so many complicated emotions, all at once. You wouldn't expect such a powerful reaction from a Life Model Decoy. Then again, he truly is one of the kind. Kudos to cast & crew for all their great work on the show. So glad to have it back for this final adventure.
DJRiter: It was a short but such an impactful moment when Yo-Yo tried on her new arms and gently reached up to touch her face for the first time in years. Such a moving moment beautifully played by Cordova.
Luana: At first, I was quite disappointed to learn this would be a Zoom episode, but I was surprised by the amazing job they did and how they managed to give us some great moments with these amazing characters we’ve been seeing all season. And the last scene, with the entire cast dancing with the DJ played by none other than Simone Missick’s husband, Dorian Missick, was just the cherry on top, a wonderful way to make the best of a situation that most of us couldn’t have predicted, and finding some joy.
DJRiter: For a series that's been on for 10 years and the staple of those years has been the Reagan family dinner scenes the producers found a way to surprise us. Having Danny’s son Sean, invite Joe’s illegitimate son, named Joe, to meet the family for the first time at family dinner was everything good about Blue Bloods.
Luana: I discovered this show thanks to the STV’s Pitch Your Show articles and I couldn’t be more thankful. It has been a hilarious, wild ride, and the way they wrapped it up with this crazy (maybe not so crazy) dystopian future was better than I could’ve expected. This last season gave all of these beloved characters time to grow and we got that last hopeful scene, even if the Titanic’s still sinking. And I wouldn’t expect anything less from Brockmire than this perfect, bittersweet ending.
Folie-lex: Broke is at its best when it's being mushy and heartwarming and the moment where Jackie asks Lizzie and Javi to be Sammy's godparents is right up there. It's especially poignant after we've sat through an episode long debate about faith and hope and peace.
Dahne: What should have been a joke about two clueless, entitled people has become the heart of Broke for me. I love how Lizzie and Javier support each other even through hard times, but their marriage showed how strong it really is when Lizzie confronts Javier about disappointing Luis. She's able to point out how selfish he is without being cruel. Instead, she helps him make a better choice, solidifying how good they are for each other.
DJRiter: Having Eve’s first face-to-face meeting with Villanelle’s mentor take place at a bowling alley and having them play a subtle game of one-upmanship was genius and one of the few bright spots in what has been a lackluster season of the show. Sandra Oh and Harriet Walter were glorious in this push and pull scene for dominance and showing each other they will be formidable foes.
Jamie: I really loved this scene, it was so cinematic. The two of them walking away from each other and then both of them turning around without knowing if the other will do the same. It showed that these two are finally on the same page. I can't wait to see where season 4 takes them.
Justyna: There's quite a few memorable scenes with people remembering their lives in all the shows I've watched. And yet, it always gets me when done right. In this moment, the Legends are trapped in a TV land without a recollection of their past or each other. It takes our Original Zari, Mona and Gary to get everyone to remember everything. As the audience we're seeing a key memory from every crew member's history, including Constantine expressing his wish for Astra, Ava watching Sara's death and Nate finally regaining his past with Zari. In fact, everyone remembers both of the timelines, the one spent with OG Zari, and the other with Behrad. For a moment everyone is together, finally reunited before another threat materializes. The actors did a wonderful job with all their reactions to the memories coming back and a special shout-out to the editors for their work on this scene. I was so happy to see OG Zari back in this hour, even if it ultimately didn't last, she's easily one of my favorite characters on the show. Her reunion with Nate was especially emotional and beautifully acted. Our past and our memories are far more powerful than we sometimes realize. Kudos to cast & crew of LoT for this memorable moment.

MAGNUM P.I., "A World of Trouble", May 1, 2020, Actors: Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Billy Malone
The Scene: Rick reveals his trouble with adjusting to civilian life
Dahne: Rick reveals his own trouble with adjusting to civilian life to a troubled vet. One of the best things about Magnum PI is how they never forget that the characters are vets and thus, they showcase a lot about what vets go through. Many times we see vets struggling with physical disabilities or PTSD, but rarely do we see how vets adjust from the strictures of military life to the chaos of civilian life. It was eye-opening to me just how different the two are when Rick talked about his struggles.

NEVER HAVE I EVER, "... said I'm sorry", April 27, 2020, Actors: Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, The Scene: The scene at the beach
Jamie: This scene made me so emotional. Seeing this family finally coming together after all the fighting to say goodbye to Mohan. This is the scene that tied the whole first season together for me.
Justyna: "Rick and Morty" is easily the craziest story I've ever watched. It's impossible to predict, sometimes not the easiest one to follow and every once in a while I do wonder whether it's for me. But then there are those powerful moments and memorable episodes that make me really glad to be watching (thank you Laura!). This second half of season 4 turned out to be a really good surprise. The highlight from May had to be "The Vat of Acid Episode", it stayed with me for quite some time. The Prestige moment was such a powerful punch, but I decided to choose the silent montage instead. There's a whole lifetime hidden in those few minutes without words. I kept waiting for Monty to hit the reset button but against all odds he kept going, actually committed to this life and his unnamed girlfriend. They fall in love, argue, reunite, get stranded in the mountains after a plane crash, barely survive a nightmare scenario but find their way home, finally safe and happy only for their whole story to end abruptly when Jerry inadvertently activates the reset remote. You expect the sudden end, but not under these circumstances at all, making it hit hard. Add to that the consequences as revealed by Rick later and it's even darker. All this and so much more, everything just to take back Morty's words about Rick's vat of acid being a bad idea. Wow, just wow.

What? Hold On.", May 6 and May 13, 2020, Actors: Leighton Meester, Kimrie Lewis, The Scenes: Angie remembers & Angie tells Poppy that she has to be honest with Douglas
Luana: This scene mainly goes up here because, sadly, it seems we won’t be seeing this show again. It has been way better than I expected when I learned there would be so much focus on the kids, but they managed in a way that made it work, not to mention the amazing cast. And this last scene was a hint that all could end well, even if we didn’t see a proper conclusion.
Dahne: I will really miss Angie and Poppy's relationship from Single Parents. What I particularly loved about this scene is how Angie is both supportive but makes her point. Poppy broke up with Douglas over having kids but never even discussed it with him. It takes a true friend to care enough to be honest with you.
DJRiter: Having Alex take her sister aside and showing her, her new supersuit courtesy of J’onn’s Martian Manhunter soldier device and Kara’s delighted squeal and reaction was probably one of the best Danvers Sisters moments we’ve had in a long time on the show. Alex was proud of the suit and wanted to show it to the person most important to her first. It was also reaffirmation to Kara that she could protect herself. Kara’s squeal of delight and happiness for her sister was vintage Melissa Benoist. Chyler Leigh and Benoist do sister scenes unlike any other acting team on television. I do think the entire scene was missing something and it was later learned from episode director David Harewood that they had to get creative in the editing of the entire scene because they could not finish filming the episode. They did a good job for the big moment however and it has quickly become one of the favorite Danvers Sisters’ moments.
Chris: I thought Marie Avgeropoulos gave a standout performance here. Seeing her breakdown was heartbreaking. It went a long way in getting me to like Octavia again.
Luana: Clarke loses it with Russell and finally lets all her emotions out. Clarke has been trying to keep all her emotions in and just focus on moving forward, but in this scene, she lets all her anger out on Russell and finally breaks down with the pain of her mother’s death. After that, she lets the palace burn and gives a speech that gave me chills. I am a little over her always making all the decisions like this, but the power there is undeniable.
Folie-lex: As Vanessa shows up with the best of intentions of bringing soup for Mateo who she thinks is sick, she is faced with the Garcias having welcomed Noa to one of their family dinners with open arms. She painfully recalls how hard it was for her to even get a place at the table and how unwelcome she was even then and after 4 years, and calls out the family on how they were so quick to embrace Noa in contrast. It is a painful moment played beautifully by Michelle Veintimilla, who brings such warmth and humanity to Vanessa you can't help but love her, and sit there wondering alongside her, why these people would in fact treat anyone so much better than her.

THE FLASH, "Pay the Piper", May 5, 2020, Actors: Grant Gustin, BD Wong and more
The Scene: The Flash vs. Godspeed
Chris: It didn't offer much in terms of emotional heft, but it was awesome seeing Barry going up against a speedster properly again. I'm hoping Season 7 will have more speedster villains again.

THE ROOKIE, "The Q Word", May 3, 2020, Actors: Eric Winter, Melissa O'Neil
The Scene: Tim talks to Lucy about her last month
Folie-lex: Tim tells Lucy her last month will be tough because she can take it. Tim and Lucy's dynamic has been one of the show's greatest selling points since day one. But to see how far they've come, where they can talk about their personal lives, he can own up to the fact that she is good and has what it takes, and that is why he pushes her, and her being able to say to his face that "they're friends" without being told to shut it was just lovely!

TOMMY, "Cause of Death", May 7, 2020, Actors: Edie Falco, David St. Louis
The Scene: Michael and Tommy talk about her quitting the fight and their marriage
Folie-lex: One of my favourite things about Tommy was the portayal of her dynamic with her ex-husband (and I am sad we didn't get more of it in the short span of the show). They might not be married anymore, for the obvious reasons, but that doesn't stop them from being family and this scene in the (now series) finale epitomized that. Here are two people who know and love each other deeply. And can rely on one another for support, perspective and honesty.

WESTWORLD, "Crisis Theory", May 3, 2020, Actors: Thandie Newton, Evan Rachel Wood, Aaron Paul and more, The Scene: Dolores helps Maeve make a choice
Justyna: As much as I loved Bernard's moment with Lauren, this one is the scene I've been waiting for since the beginning of the season. I've missed Maeve, or rather her true self, free and outside of anyone's control or manipulation. Despite her often being my favorite part of the previous seasons, she was barely herself in this one, until this honest conversation with Dolores when she finally gets to make her own choice, inspired by Dolores' words. These two have been at the center of the show since its start but they barely interacted. Despite many things in common they took very different paths to achieve their personal goals and ended up fighting against each other at some point. It was such a great change to see them truly interact and understand one another at last. In her final moment Dolores lets Maeve in and shares the truth about her plan and the decisions she has made. Her choice to see the beauty of the world, instead of the pain and the ugliness, is what ultimately makes her a hero in this story. Her sacrifice is meant to save the world, she's not fighting against the humans, but rather to give them back their free will. Her speech inspires Maeve to fight back against Serac and Rehoboam, to stand with Caleb and work to build a better world for both of them. It's such an emotional moment, beautifully acted and edited by cast and crew. It's also a powerful ending for Dolores' journey on the show and at last it helped me see her in a light much brighter than I expected. Despite all the hurt, disarray and the suffering she chose to see the good - love, kindness, beauty. Thanks to her Maeve found a strength to fight back and finally free herself. A warrior with a good heart. Side note: the music in the scene is perfect as always. Kudos to cast & crew for all their great work on the series.
Dahne: There was a lot to love about the season finale of Zoey's and season 1 of the series as a whole. However, it was always Zoey's relationship with her dad that hit me in the heart the hardest. As they danced their last dance, it was a touching tribute to that relationship and an endearing way to say goodbye to her dad. It was also a great way to bookend the series by going back to the song, True Colors.
Folie-lex: Season 1 of Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist concludes with the whole cast singing a rendition of American Pie in one long (7+ minutes) take which takes place at Mitch's wake. It's a bittersweet ending to the show's main overarching plot of Mitch's deteriorating health and it's exactly as sad and beautiful as it should be.
DJRiter: American Pie rendition. Having the entire cast sing a nearly 8 minute long version of American Pie in one continuous camera shot to encompass the wake following Zoey’s dad’s funeral was a masterful piece of work and the prime example why this warm, touching and unique show should be renewed for a second season.
Luana: Zoey and Max kiss. The first half of this episode seems completely different from the second one and it could only work that way with a good transition. The scene where Zoey finally kisses Max was not only fun and adorable with them trying to figure out how to make him stop singing, but it gathered all the light to contrast with that heart-sinking moment of Howie’s call: “The bad moon. It rose.”
