24 - The 24 Best Episodes of the Series

With 11,400 minutes, 7 Days and 22 Hours, or 190 episodes shown, tonight FOX will air the final two episodes of "24". In honor of the show leaving I decided to list by season, what I thought were the best episodes. There are 3 episodes from Season 1, 3 episodes from Season 2, 1 episode from Season 3, 4 episodes from Season 4, 5 episodes from Season 5, 4 episodes from Season 7 and 4 episodes from Season 8. Having not seen the finale I don't want to guess whether or not these final two episodes will make the list but I hope that they do.

So with all of that being said here is my list of the 24 best episodes of one of the most influentials shows on television "24":

12:00 a.m. - 1:00 a.m. - Day 1 - The episode that started the phenomenon. It set up the characters that we were either going to love or hate and introduced us to Jack Bauer the head of field operatives at Counter Terrorist Unit Los Angeles, who was just starting to have a really bad day. His wife Teri, was a stay at home mom and his daughter Kim a high school aged teenager. Senator David Palmer was waiting in his hotel in Los Angeles watching the returns from the Democratic Primaries in California, but all were going to be linked together in a incredibly cohesive story with many twists and turns along the way.

12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. - Day 1 - "24" showed that it could orchestrate an incredible amount of action, when Jack breaks into a compound alone in order to rescue both his wife and daughter.

11:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. - Day 1 - The first season of 24 had been quite a ride up to this point and fans had no idea how they were going to wrap up the first season. It was definitely a bit of a shock when the true mole was revealed and an ending that would have fans talking for months. Some interesting trivia about this episode: The production team shot three endings, before ultimately deciding on the one that aired on TV. FOX didn't decide to renew "24" for a second season until 5 days before the finale aired.

10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. - Day 2 - The first disaster at CTU. CTU has been subjected to a bombing, gasing, shooting and EMP blast. What made this event even more shocking was Jack helped the bad guys execute the plan, however he was an undercover agent.

4:00 a.m. - 5:00 a.m. - Day 2 - Normally "24" is known for action but in this episode they lean towards the dramatic with a powerful debate about the Constitution. At the heart of the debate was whether or not to remove President Palmer from office using the 25th Amendment, which states if the President is deemed unable to serve, their cabinet must vote by a simple majority to remove them from office.

7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. - Day 2 - If you were blown away by what happened at the end of Season 1 then your jaw was on the floor at the end of this episode. Tobin Bell (aka Jigsaw from the "Saw" films) guest starred for one last time as the main villain, and Jack went on a shooting rampage with a sniper rifle inside the LA Coliseum.

1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. - Day 3 - Each episode that starts a season determines the pace and the intensity that should be felt throughout the "day". With the introduction of a virus being potentially be released into the public the mood was definitely grim and it showed a different side to "24". This episode also is important because of the debut of the show's second longest recurring character, Chloe O'Brian.
