A monthly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in the past month on TV.
Folie-lex: Gregory goes through the motions of coming to terms with his place at the school, as Janine urges him to start decorating his classroom. While he sees being a sub means his tenure at the school is only temporary, he doesn't understand the value in really investing the time to personalize his space. Still because Janine suggested it he makes an effort, without much success in the beginning. It's only when he realises that the drawings his kids have been giving him all week are indications he's making a bigger impact than he thought, that he decides the kiddie artwork might be the right decor for him at this time.

BATWOMAN, "Toxic", January 26, 2022, Actors: Javicia Leslie, Nicole Kang and more
The Scene: The team confronts Mary
Marko: What a powerful display of friendship and emotions with the perfect momentum. The writers took all their gloves off and let the cast go at each other propelling the story and character moments.

CHICAGO PD, "Lies", January 12, 2022, Actors: LaRoyce Hawkins, Amanda Payton
The Scene: Atwater's confession
Jessica C: Secrets on PD this season have been category five stressful. Which is why I'm so glad that Kevin made the decision to tell Celeste he was a cop. Despite being understandably hurt that she didn't know the truth, this didn't feel at all like goodbye. Celeste needs her own time to process and she deserves that. But they both seem to really support and care a lot about each other so I'm certain we'll be seeing them again soon.

Hall, Jack Alcott, The Scenes: Harrison and Dexter find Kurt's secret room & The final death
Laura B: Harrison and Dexter find Kurt's secret room - Despite whatever I think of the season finale, I won't deny that I think everything that came before it was brilliant. I chose this scene because it is its own double entendre for what Dexter has ever been in terms of showcasing these runaway/people who get in the way by having to see what someone else has done to preserve themselves through others. From the Ice Truck Killer to The Doomsday Killer, does this through line with Tableaus really stick out and solidify New Blood to its past incarnation, but it is also a turning point for Dexter, as Harrison learns the truth about his father and what is means to take justice into your own hands, when you are also a serial killer.
Luana: I don’t think there was any other way for Dexter’s character to finish his journey, and though I did have a few issues with how the season was handled, I loved the end result, I loved the whole relationship with Harrison, and I would love to see more of his journey if we got the chance, and if Michael C. Hall could appear to his son as Harry did for him, all the better.

EUPHORIA, "Ruminations: Big and Little Bullys", January 23, 2022, Actor: Zendaya
The Scene: Rue's slide show
Luana: I love it when shows go meta, in the right moments of course, and I loved this slide show and Rue’s lesson, even if it was horrible what she was saying, that made it even more poignant. I haven’t enjoyed much of this season so far, but that moment was pretty cool.

HOME ECONOMICS, "Men's Water-Resistant Watch, $289" & "Round Trip Ticket SAN-OAK, $234", January 5 & 19, 2022, Actors: Topher Grace, Karla Souza and more, The Scenes: Tom and Marina explain the baby sock pile method & Marina's small meltdown
Folie-lex: Tom and Marina explain to Camila the baby sock pile method. Tom and Marina struggle with deciding on how to handle the fact that Sofia's whole book is gonna be a scam. The convenient thing to do is maintain the lie as the upsides of doing so outnumber the fact that it's just "lying", which they find the need to physically determine by coming up with a silly "sock pile" game. However it's a disapproving Camila, who through her innocent childhood prism points out to them without any runaround that it's still lying that they begin to properly feel the weight of what this decision means. Home Economics puts Tom and Marina in a difficult position of being faced with the parenting dilemma of giving your kids the right example to live by and do the right thing instead of doing the easy thing, in the most comedic and astute fashion, and manages to drive the point home in the process.
Marko: Marina has a small meltdown after seeing her father being the best granpa. Karla Souza really shines each time she gets a juicy story on Home Economics. Seeing her unravel as the story progressed was simply hilarious. Her interaction with Cheech Marin was just amazing and gave her the support to do her best work and let Marina's crazy out.

HOW I MET YOUR FATHER, "Pilot", January 18, 2022, Actors: Hilary Duff, Christopher Lowell and more, The Scene: The apartment reveal
Marko: It was the perfect throwback with the crew entering the Original apartment from the mothership. I have no issues with the two shows being two separate entities but give us this little sweet throwback to HIMYM that hits right into the feels.

NANCY DREW, "The Ransom of the Forsaken Soul", January 28, 2022, Actors: Kennedy McMann, Scott Wolf, The Scene: Nancy opens up to her dad
Luana: Of course, Nancy couldn’t simply be happy for too long and what she got to see was heartbreaking, and it was great she opened up to her dad at least, but it was even more painful to see her accept she couldn’t be happy, or trying to hope she’d be able to but having a hard trust believing it.

Laura B: Wow, what I can say! The show turned over and spun-around so many plots in season 4A, that I'm not really sure where to begin or if I'm seeing straight, but this scene is what is at the heart of Ozark and its final season, --it's what makes Marty so redeemable and Wendy so abhorrent. I feel like the lines have been drawn. Marty still cares about other people and has learned that pressing others is not the way for smoother sailing and to see him bail out his son, even when his son is rebelling against him, shows that Marty has some moral integrity and human understanding left, but at the same time it makes whatever it is that we don't yet see coming the more tragic, because at this point, I'm not sure if Wendy deserves to live, let alone call herself anyone's mother or wife.
Giulia: The end of season three was pretty dark and it set a new tone for what season four might look like. Now, Wendy and Marty are the primary sources of income for Omar and his cartel and they have to prove themselves to be the right (and only) people for the job. Omar easily had Helen killed and he could do the same thing to the Byrdes, but they are determined to get the job done. Marty seems more conscious about a solution, whereas Wendy does not; as she says a few times during the first part of the season, she doesn't want to lose. I loved this scene because it seems so understated, yet it is so powerful in the power play of both parts.

Justyna: Elizabeth Tulloch has been doing such an excellent job on the show. Throughout the season premiere Lois isn't quite herself when interacting with her family. She's mostly angry, upset or running out of patience and taking it out on her loved ones. That is until she finally chooses to open up to Clark and admits just how much Natalie's presence has hit her. We learn that Lois and her sister Lucy were abandoned by their mother when they were kids and Lois has spent years wondering how a mother could do such a thing to her children. Seeing Natalie showing up at the farm and calling Lois her mom was especially hard for Lane because she realized she didn't feel anything towards this girl. She felt sorry for her, but didn't feel any kind of connection between them and the guilt started to flood her. Because despite not being Natalie's actual mom, she understood just how terrible she must have felt at this moment, rejected by someone who looks just like her lost mom. The sudden hope and then almost immediately the crushing heartbreak. Clark comforts Lois and assures her that she is not her mother, far from it. The love and support between Lois and Clark is easily one of my favorite parts of the show, so I truly appreciated this moment and Lois' return to normal that followed. Kudos!
Laura B: Din Djarin struggles to find his place, as he is once again contested by members of The Death Watch - It was pretty cool to discover that both The Armorer and Paz Vizsla survived, but the show continues to use the Darksaber as a set of philosophical constructs for what Mandalorians are or aren't, let alone if Mandalorians can co-exist with Jedi, who have often held opposite beliefs. I much enjoyed the ironic turnovers between these characters as they go from friends/mentors, to something in between neutral or enemy over a beliefs series held by both The Armorer & Paz Vizsla, as one wants to challenge Din for The Darksaber, while the other takes his other weapon and forges it into something for Grogu, only to turn around and oust him from being a Mandalorian, despite winning the duel over admitting he took off his helmet. It's hard to say how this will play out with either Din or Bo-Katan, but so appreciate the in-universe argument that out of universe fans have been asking for so long.
Folie-lex: Arman and Thony get into quite a big fight as the accumulation of a few rough and unpleasant moments they share throughout the episode. Her disappointment is obvious as she cowers and flinches away from him, and lets him know he is not the man she thought he was. While Arman in a fit of anger and hurt points out her hypocrisy in judging his lifestyle but having no problem using him when she is desperate for help. The truth bombs each of them drop on the other hit home hard, and bring front and center both the personal issues these layered characters carry as well as the complications of the relationship they have been developing from the moment they met. The scene primarily works as a direct juxtaposition with one that played out earlier in the episode, where a thoroughly smitten Thony gives a clearly humbled and moved Arman one of Luca's drawings where he is depicted as a hero.
Justyna: This is one of my favorite TV shows of all time. It's hard to believe it's over, but I'm very glad to say that the ending was perfectly done. There are so many incredible moments in the last two episodes of the series that choosing just one for the article felt impossible. That entire sequence with the Rocinante crew entering the Ring Station that ends with the destruction of the railguns was wonderfully done. But ultimately I decided to highlight the moment that happens after, when our crew awakens the entities to consume Marco's ship, with Naomi pulling the trigger. It's hard to put into words just how important this scene is for everyone. It's the end of the war with the Free Navy. It's a huge risk to purposely trigger the entities, not knowing whether they'll go back to their dormant state. It's using the knowledge of the protomolecule and the entities that they've been gathering since season one, a culmination of a journey. Finally, it's the end of Marco and seemingly Filip. And I love the way the entire scene plays out. With the beautiful music building up as we watch all the main characters preparing to fight for their lives and the sudden switch to Naomi's memory, her brief time of happiness with her baby, the same child she is essentially killing in this moment. But she pulls the trigger anyway, choosing to protect her family on the Rocinante and anyone else that Marco is a danger to. As the viewers we get to witness Marco's final moment. His realization and a desperate attempt to change his fate, knowing it's already too late. And with his final look he appears to be turning towards Filip's place on the ship, most likely realizing that his son has left him. A satisfying end to his story. Once the Pella is gone, we come back to the Rocinante and watch everyone's reactions (mostly relief) to Marco's end until the camera ends on Naomi and her scream cuts through the music. Her complete devastation, when she realizes that her son is gone, is the most heartbreaking and most memorable part of the finale for me. That and Jim holding her in his arms as she breaks down, trying to comfort her in any way he can. What an emotional, significant scene overall. And such a fantastic show. Time to rewatch it soon. Thank you to the entire cast & crew for their incredible work on the series. It will not be forgotten.
Folie-lex: Lucy and Tim get roped into going on a double date with their current official love interests, and as the dinner plays out on screen every second of their interaction proves what the audience has known for years: these two are meant to be. From their inside jokes, to them stealing food of each other's plates, to monopolizing the conversation between them, to their body language as they sit side by side and still end up facing each other throughout the night and practically ignoring their respective dates for the evening.
Luana: I just love this relationship and I love Lucy, she’s one of the best characters I’ve seen in a while, and I loved how she was able to be there for Tamara without pushing her, but also not letting her fall through the cracks.
Luana: This scene was heartbreaking because Jack managed to put into words all the pain he was feeling, not only the pain of losing his mom but also the pain of realizing what his dad had taken from both of them, including their relationship with each other.
Marko: A raw and honest performance from Milo as Jack was saying goodbye to his mother. Jack had a rough life and didn't always make the right decisions. The speech was honest and powerful giving Milo all the space to shine.
Cecile: After months of bubbling resentment between them, Jackie and Shauna finally get into it as their friendship crumbles around them. It's a scene that is momentous because they both have valid reasons for the resentment, but also because it's the kind of fight that would have happened even if they hadn't been stranded in the wild, desperately struggling to survive. Both Sophie Nélisse and Ella Purnell are fantastic in this scene. As their pride prevents them from making the first step towards reconciliation, the moment results in a devastatingly banal death for Jackie, who freezes to death in the cold after being asked to leave the cabin by the rest of the girls. Shauna's scream as she realizes what happened is truly heartbreaking since Jackie's death was entirely preventable, and it's a moment that will affect the rest of her life, and her choices.

A monthly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in the past month on TV.

Laura B: I have yet to see Yellowstone, so I'm sure I'm missing some grand connections, but as far as a western goes, 1883 is shaping up to be a great character piece in its own right. It's hard to choose individual scenes when the scenes in the episodes really kind of work better together, but I chose this scene because it appears James brought his daughter along not just because he seems to have faith in her abilities, but as Elsa figures out when looking up at the sky as she lays by his side, it was her birthday!

A MILLION LITTLE THINGS, "The Things We Keep Inside", December 1, 2021, Actors: Romany Malco, Christina Moses, The Scene: Rome tells Regina about his depression
Marko: Rome confesses to Regina that his depression came back. Since the beginning of the show Rome and Regina were its heart, the stable constant keeping the group of friends together. Seeing them live through the consequences of Covid was hard but I never expected the story to climax as it has in the midseason finale. Rome's confession was just so raw and heartbreaking, and unbelievably fitting. Great performance by both Malco and Moses.
Luana: Given how things were going the last time Rome's depression was at its worst, it was great to see him open up to his wife and perhaps get the help he needs, it also focused on the numbness of it all which was an interesting departure from the stereotypical depiction of depression.
Folie-lex: The vets explain to the newbies that teaching is a calling, and they've answered. As the younger teachers find themselves just about defeated by the system it's the two jaded veterans who explain: "It's a calling and you answered". And this is the moment the show won me over. Sheryl Lee Ralph and Lisa Ann Walter stole the show throughout the pilot with their cynicism, pragmatism and deadpan. But they both shine even more in this final moment, each delivering their part of the speech perfectly. There is no doubt Mrs. Howard and Mrs. Schemmenti are in it for the right reasons and despite what they may say, they'll help anyone else who is too.
Jessica C: This all still feels like such an incredible dream to me! Hailey and Jay have spent their entire partnership consistently showing up for each other. They've built some of the deepest trust and communication, and provided each other with not only physical but emotional safety. All of that laid strong groundwork for so many beautiful relationship milestones this year. We watched as they finally revealed their feelings for each other, opened up about traumas and secrets of the past, love confessions, set healthy boundaries to protect their relationship, not to mention a few proposals. So it should come as absolutely no surprise that this is where we find them now--married, madly in love and leaving the rest of us floating on cloud nine.

Hall, Jack Alcott and more, The Scenes: Dexter saves Molly from Kurt & Dexter and Harrison see a shrink
Laura B: Dexter follows Molly and Kurt to Kurt's secret little lodge and ultimately saves Molly from Kurt. I don't know if things are going to end well for Dexter in this revival series given Dexter's more thoughtful attempts at trying to absolve the situation, given in this case that Molly is surely a threat too, but I really like how this series has not reset Dexter's emotional awakening to his humanity. I love that it is much more of a driving force of his actions.
Luana: Dexter and Harrison see a shrink. I loved this scene, obviously they couldn’t really talk openly, but the setting made it all feel so much more real, and though I haven’t been the biggest fan of Deb’s ghost I did like the role she played here.

GREY'S ANATOMY, "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear", December 16, 2021, Actors: Abigail Spencer, Richard Flood, The Scene: Megan opens up to Hayes
Luana: This episode was definitely a return to Grey’s typical (sometimes literal) cliffhangers, but one of the highlights for me was Megan telling Hayes she wasn’t willing to survive Farouk’s death, there was clearly a cry for help there but it made sense she didn’t feel like telling her family, she definitely seemed quite set on her plan b which was quite scary and definitely heartbreaking.
Justyna: This might be one of the hardest choices I've made when it comes to selecting scenes to highlight for the SOTM articles. There are so many incredible moments in this series - emotional, action-packed, shocking, joyful. I loved Kate and Clint's interactions, their Christmas / training montage, Kate helping Clint with the phone call from his son, her speech about the way he has inspired her to be a hero and of course them fighting together, side by side. That's not even to mention a few fantastic scenes with Yelena at the center, from the Infinity War flashback to her finally learning and accepting the truth about Nat's death. But after a longer consideration, I realized that the moments that hit me the most on the show were probably any and all scenes where Clint is talking about or remembering Natasha. As much as I've enjoyed Clint and Kate, or Kate and Yelena on the show, I really do miss Clint and Nat duo. After a needed break and little bit of Christmas celebration, Kate asks Clint about the best shot he's ever made. He immediately goes to the one he never did, back when he met Natasha. He's reluctant to talk about her, Barton isn't exactly known for opening up about his feelings and it's clear that he's struggling not to break down whenever he's confronted with the memory of Nat's death. Still, he shares with Kate a few details about the way he and Nat met and how important that still is to him. While he's talking about Nat, we also hear the Vormir music playing in the background. I've heard it so many times and it still gets me. Also, after Clint admits to losing his family following the Infinity War, Kate understands and figures out the identity of Ronin, getting Barton to admit how heavily his past choices still weigh on him and endanger his family. I really enjoyed Jeremy Renner's performance during their entire conversation. Both strong and vulnerable, guarded yet seemingly at the edge of tears. It's a great bonding moment for Kate and Clint and a powerful reference to a fallen hero. Finally the scene ends after Kate leaves the room and Clint turns off his hearing aid. As everything around him gets quiet, he's left with the memories of his painful past... And the audience gets a quick glimpse at them too. Definitely a scene to remember. Kudos to cast & crew for all their work on the series.
Folie-lex: The rooftop fight. The climactic scene of the Hawkeye's 4th episode, finds Clint and Kate facing off with not one, but two badass ladies: Maya and Yelena. Technically the scene is excellent with the fight choreography between the four never missing a beat. But more than that the emotional punches throughout (from Kate going off the roof and Clint running to catch her, to the implications of a Black Widow assassin being brought into the mix) land every time.
Luana: Yelena finally believes the truth about Natasha. Florence Pugh is amazing, we know this, but that moment felt like it was necessary not only for her, who was looking for someone to blame but also for Clint who’s clearly had a hard time letting go as well, it felt like a pivotal moment for both and I’m really looking forward to seeing more of Yelena.
Marko: The battle on the roof. Hands down one of the best directed and choreographed fight scenes in the MCU. Not much more to say besides major Kudos to cast, crew and the editing department.
Folie-lex: Coming to a cumulation of all the episode's plots everyone receives the exact gift that would make them happy. It's hard to pick which was more sweet: Sarah getting a knockoff fancy bag that says "LuLu" on the brand, or Connor actually paying off all of Denise's students lunches instead of getting her a present because that's what she would have done? And in the end it's exactly these weekly heartwarming moments that makes the Hayworths worth following week in week out.
Laura B: Zora sings "Stormy Weather" to Michael, as she attempts to save Discovery and its crew. Ever since the Short Trek "Calypso" I have been waiting to see how Zora would develop and come into play in the future timeline. I liked how in that episode Zora seemed fascinated by the love and romance of old Earth films and now finally as the character comes to life as an active player in the series, it was so fitting that she would choose this jazzy number as she tries to get over her own self-doubt to save those she loves and has begun to devote herself to!
Cecile: The siblings realize they’re getting played by Logan, Kendall breaks down - Succession is a masterclass in acting in general, but this scene in particular highlights just how excellent these three are when they get to play off of each other. Kendall’s heart-wrenching confession as Shiv and Roman finally rally around him is so beautifully filmed, it actually looks like a painting, making the scene all the more poignant.
Marko: Ken confesses his involvement with the waiter’s death to his siblings. Jeremy Strong delivered so many memorable moments over the 3 seasons of Succession. Yet he succeeded to deliver another amazing performance. Kendall's guilt unfolded in such an emotional and powerful way gripping me to the edge of the seat asking for more.
Justyna: There's so much to love about this scene - the visual effects, the strategic maneuvers, the acting, the editing. Bobbie and Holden turned out to be a fantastic duo in the fight. Against all odds they succeeded in the battle with three other ships, newer and with more ammunition. The maneuver with 180 degrees spin, a single shot and another 180 degrees spin to resume Rocinante's position and the burn, has to be one of the most impressive things we've seen on the show so far, certainly in terms of the space battles. Adding to that, Bobbie's quick thinking allows her and Holden to devise a plan and predict Pella's position in the next strike, leading to the damage of the ship and even a chance to take it down completely. It's clear at this point that Bobbie wants to fire with a torpedo and destroy the disabled Pella, however Holden chooses to open negotiations with Inaros instead. As if the entire scene until this point wasn't intense enough this quick exchange between the two Captains is something I've been looking forward for a while now. While I wish we could see a longer interaction between the two, it's still such a memorable moment. Of course Marco would rather die than live at the end of Holden's leash. Bobbie chooses not to wait any longer and fires a torpedo. The music fits the scene perfectly, as Naomi watches her son about to die and has to look away from the screen, and Holden makes a choice to disarm torpedo instead. No words, just actions and the performances make this one of the best moments of the show for me. As for the decision itself, it's hard to speculate what could have happened if Holden made a different choice, so I won't. All I can say is that regardless of whether it's ultimately a good or bad one, I can absolutely understand the reason why he made it. I suppose that's what makes him Captain James Holden in the end. Kudos to cast & crew for all their work on this fantastic show.

THE FLASH, "Armageddon, Part 5", December 14, 2021, Actors: Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, The Scene: Caitlin and Thawne talk
Marko: This confrontation was 6-7 years in the making and the payoff was just unbelievably powerful and moving. The show never properly explored Caitlin's grief and the unraveling during this episode was just so memorable.
Folie-lex: Fans of The Rookie have long heard about Tim's abusive childhood. Seeing him have to come face to face with his demons finally in the show was long overdue. Yet it was still hard to watch in all the right ways, with Eric Winter (as usual) doing the heavy lifting and making it look easy. Still there was something even more heartbreaking to witness the sheer vulnerability of Tim needing to clarify he isn't like his father. And having Lucy there to offer the reassurance and the comfort (especially after her ill-advised reference of the Tim-tests in correlation to his childhood trauma the episode prior) was the only way to go.
Justyna: Over the course of these eight episodes, I've grown surprisingly attached to the series and its characters. Of course there's a number of scenes that I would like to include in the article. Special shoutout to the Battle of the Shining Walls flashback - easily the best opening sequence on the show so far. However, in the end there is no contest when it comes to choosing the most memorable moment of the series for me. It has to be the Dragon Reborn reveal. I've watched and rewatched this scene so many times, definitely lost count a while ago. I love all the pieces coming together, the small and bigger details that didn't quite fit until this moment, Rand's memories flooding him and revealing to the audience just how much he's been struggling all along. His character often seemed to be hidden in the background, his actions or motivations not necessarily clear at times. And I'm so glad that this moment finally lets the viewers in and starts a major development for the character. Mystery solved. Now the journey truly begins. I'm very excited to learn more about the Dragon in general and eventually seeing his full power. Josha Stradowski delivered a great performance in the scene, portraying so many complicated emotions going through Rand's mind. Also huge kudos to the editing team for this one. Love the way the scene is put together with all the flashbacks and the music in the background. If I wasn't sold on the show before, I absolutely am after this episode. Kudos to the cast and crew for all their work on the series so far!
Luana: I’m loving this show and choosing just one scene seems impossible, but I loved how this reveal was handled, I loved the directing, the performance, and also the fact that they didn’t drag the mystery for too long since it’s clearly not the real point of the series. I just can’t wait to see what comes next.
Justyna: It seems impossible to choose just one scene to highlight from an entire season but here we go. There's certainly a number of moments that would deserve a mention, a special shoutout to any and all interactions between Yennefer and Jaskier who surprisingly became my favorite duo of the season, starting from Jaskier's fantastic entrance in episode four. "Burn, Butcher, burn..." Still, for the article I decided to go with a sequence from the season finale. Back in season one, Ciri's storyline was probably my least favorite of all the main characters. Luckily that's changed at the end of 2021 when Ciri joined not only Geralt but a family of Witchers. Watching her on the obstacle course, with more and more of the Witchers actively rooting for her was such a welcome surprise. All those relationships turned out to be exactly what she needed in the end. While Ciri is trapped under Voleth Meir's control, the Witchers, led by Ciri's father figure Geralt, try to reach her and convince her to come home, back to her family. So much for the Witchers not feeling any emotions. They've all grown very attached to this princess and refuse to let her go. It means everything for Ciri to have them all fight for her like that, considering all the damage she has (inadvertently) caused. But the Witchers alone can't save Ciri. As it turns out it's Yennefer's sacrifice that ultimately gives the girl a fighting chance. Yennefer has been struggling with a loss of her power and purpose throughout the season, making some good and bad choices along the way. At this moment she feels connected to Ciri, already caring about her and is willing to do anything to protect her. That's why she decides to become a new host for Voleth Meir, releasing Ciri from demon's control. And the fact that she cuts her own wrists (a significant reference to her past suicide attempt) makes this all the more tragic and emotional to watch. I'm so glad both Yennefer and Ciri survive in the end, but this was such an intense and memorable moment. Wonderful performances delivered by the cast. This one will definitely stay with me for a while. Kudos to cast & crew for all their work on the show.

A monthly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in the past month on TV.

AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE, "Encourage, Discourage", February 3, 2021, Actors: Daniel DiMaggio, Logan Pepper, The Scene: Cooper admits why he doesn't want to ride Oliver's bike
Folie-lex: Oliver misinterprets Cooper's refusal to ride his bike as Cooper thinking it's something "beneath him". Of course he's proven wrong when a frustrated Cooper admits he simply doesn't know how to ride a bike in the first place. It's yet another one of those regular "kid things" Cooper longs for. It's sad and tragic and yeah 'cause it's American Housewife a little bit funny too, and as usual Logan Pepper and Oliver DiMaggio hit all the right notes to makes us laugh and awe and just want to hug Cooper.

BATWOMAN, "Do Not Resuscitate", February 28, 2021, Actors: Javicia Leslie, Bevin Bru
The Scene: Ryan and Angelique break up
Marko: Once again Javicia stunned me here with her performance. The outstanding emotional delivery of all of Ryan's fears and angst were perfectly combined with the tremble in Javicia's voice and the tears in her eyes. Javicia took the role of Batwoman to a new level this season and I am here for all of it.

CHARMED, "You Can't Touch This", February 21, 2021, Actors: Melonie Diaz, Madeleine Mantock, Sarah Jeffery, The Scene: The Charmed Ones destroy the Chupa-Alma
Marko: A visually stunning and smartly written scene, the Charmed ones combined their powers in a unique way to destroy the so far unknown Monster.

MR. MAYOR, "Hearts Before Parts", February 18, 2021, Actors: Ted Danson, Missi Pyle
The Scene: Neil and Nicole break things off
Folie-lex: Neil, worried that his occasional hook up Nicole might want to get more serious after their dinner with Orly, calls her to his office to "break up". Instead she beats him to the punch and calls things off first. As the two go through the notions and reasons of their breakup, Nicole's surprisingly insightful and caring feedback and argument help Neil realise that maybe it's time to move on and start looking into serious relationships.
Prpleight: Nancy has been sentenced to 500 hours of community service in the morgue for her break-in during season 1. For the woman who unleashed ghosts on the town it seems fitting and useful. When a recently arrived body knocks on the inside of the morgue drawer, she can't help herself. Given what we've learned about Nancy Drew, not one viewer was surprised when she opened that drawer. She then reached into the corpse's mouth, pulled something out and subsequently shoved it in her pocket. When she returned home the knocking started again. This time coming from her kitchen. I know the rule of 3. So, when she opened that third cabinet door and it looked normal, I decided the writers were playing with that rule and the corpse would be standing there when she turned around to go to her room. Instead, they waited until she was about to close the cabinet door to drop the body into the shot and they got me. After over 50 years of movie and TV viewing almost nothing makes me jump. This not only made me jump it made me consider turning on the light. THAT deserved a Kudo!
Prpleight: Malcolm finally tells Ainsley that she killed Nicholas Endicott. Malcolm and Ainsley's parents agree that it's time to tell Ainsley that she killed the man who was threatening her and her brother. Malcolm initially balks at the idea. Given her fugue state after stabbing Endicott, he doesn't think she can handle it. He finally decides to tell her the truth and be by her side to help her through it. He promises her everything will be okay, she counters with a blood covered blouse and the news that she's blacked out again. That was completely unexpected.
Dahne: Malcolm admits the truth to Jessica - After the shocker of last year's season finale, I thought there would be big consequences this year. So far, that's not really been the case...until this scene. Now that Jessica knows the truth and Ainsley's getting curious, things should start rolling quickly.

Justyna: I've seen so many different Superman stories and portrayals that I wasn't quite sure whether I would enjoy watching another one so soon. And yet this show has managed to surprise me and got me interested within the first few minutes of the pilot. The recap of Clark and Lois' story so far, the one I'm used to following, is nothing more than a beginning of their new and exciting journey. I loved all the little moments with the Kent family, a wonderful "my mom made it for me" reference, the first meeting of Clark and Lois, their wedding and then the introduction of their family. To have Superman as the father in the story, not the son following in his dad's footsteps, makes the show feel different from the start and I'm genuinely curious to see it evolve. The visuals have been very memorable so far, beautifully done. And the cast has done an excellent job in these first couple of episodes. Can't wait to see what's next.

THE EXPANSE, "Nemesis Games", February 2, 2021, Actors: Dominique Tipper, Frankie Adams, Cas Anvar, The Scene: Naomi's rescue / Alex's death
Justyna: It's hard to believe it's been a month already since this season finale aired. There's quite a few memorable moments from the hour that I could mention in the article but nothing hit me quite as much as watching Naomi's rescue, going from the terrifying emptiness to hope, only to end the scene with the shot of Alex dying of stroke. I certainly expected Alex's story to take a sudden turn due to the behind-the-scenes situation, but I still did not see this one coming. Not in this particular moment for sure. Spending half of the season watching Naomi's brutal experience on Chetzemoka didn't make the part where she's just floating in empty space, surrounded by darkness and complete silence any easier to see. I really enjoyed the way the entire sequence was shot, almost from Naomi's perspective, like we're right there next to her, unable to see whether any help is coming. And then Bobbie's voice breaks the silence and hope is restored. Such a powerful and emotional moment. And then, right when there's actually a chance to get our Rocinante crew back together again we lose our pilot in such a sudden and heartbreaking way. Considering the circumstances I think Alex's departure was handled really well. He dies as a hero, sacrificing his life to save a loved one. The entire sequence is certainly one of the most memorable scenes of the season for me. Can't wait to see what happens next. Kudos!

THE ROOKIE, "Lockdown", February 14, 2021, Actors: Richard T. Jones, Titus Makin Jr.
The Scene: Grey tells Jackson he's proud of him
Folie-lex: After Stanton's takedown (which had to escalate to Jackson almost getting beaten up to death by some street thugs) Grey visits the young rookie at the hopsital to let him know how proud he is of him. While I'm sure we're not completely done with Stanton, it was a great scene to conclude this arc. Titus and Richard brought their A-game, as they have throughout this storyline.

THIS IS US, "The Ride", February 23, 2021, Actors: Milo Ventimiglia, Justin Hartley
The Scene: Kevin daydreams about Jack meeting his kids
Marko: In a really terrific ensemble, Justin Hartley is often underappreciated but from the emotional journey Kevin went on since season 2 and Justin's breakout performance, Justin is really delivering one strong performance after another. Once again in this episode, Justin proved the emotional range he has and the way he understands Kevin to the core. The scenes of the Big Three with Jack are so rare and this one was perfect from start to finish.

WANDAVISION, "Breaking the Fourth Wall" & "Previously On", February 19 & 26, 2021, Actors: Elizabeth Olsen, Kathryn Hahn, Teyonah Parris and more, The Scenes: Monica breaks through the barrier & Agatha calls Wanda the Scarlet Witch & Wanda "can't feel" Vision & Wanda changes Westview
Justyna: So many of my favorite scenes are already included in the article but there's at least one more I couldn't help but add to the list. That is Monica breaking through the barrier. I love that in addition to exploring Wanda and Vision's story, the show has also introduced us to a new hero, one that I hope to see more of in the future MCU shows and movies. This is such a great origin story. We've known Monica since she was a kid on "Captain Marvel" but she really got to shine in this show. From the moment she returns after the Hulk's snap we learn exactly what kind of person she is - strong, determined, compassionate, brave and heroic. Despite Wanda's actions, she truly wants to help her, just as much as everyone else trapped in Westview. When her initial attempt to break through the barrier (in the SWORD vehicle) fails, she risks her life to break through on her own. The sequence of her entering the Hex, with the memories of her life flashing before her eyes, as the viewers hear the most memorable lines about her story so far, is beautifully done. I especially love the line: "Your mom's lucky. When they were handing out kids they gave her the toughest one." Couldn't possibly be more true when watching Monica emerging as a hero, fully aware of who she is despite getting inside Westview. Kudos to cast & crew for all their fantastic work on the scene and show overall. As a side note: a quick shoutout to the moment when "Pietro" arrives. It's a very short scene, but the fans' initial reaction to it was fantastic.
Shirleena: After Wanda creates her alternate reality she hears her twin boys screaming for her help outside. Agatha Harkness has the boys by the neck and tells Wanda she was supposed to be a myth, to have powers of spontaneous creation means only one thing. Wanda is the Scarlet Witch.
Folie-lex: Wanda "can't feel" Vision - After Hayward lets Wanda know that she can't take Vision's body to bury him he does allow her to say goodbye and shows her Vision's pieces as the SWORD scientists are tearing him apart. A devastated Wanda breaks in the lab to be close to Vision. Her heart breaks even more when she realises she's lost her connection to him. Another moment where Elizabeth knocks it out of the ballpark.
Marko: Wanda changes Westview. In an episode full of emotional moments, Elizabeth Olsen surpassed everything she has done so far in the show and delivered an emotional breakdown like no other. The magnitude of Wanda's emotions transferred through the screen leaving me trembling. As the visuals supported Wanda's emotional outburst this scene highlighted all the pain she was experiencing.
Prpleight: A lot of what really worked about this scene was Dougray Scott's performance. I've never really bought Jacob's inflexible hatred for Batwoman so I shared a bit of Alice's righteousness as she laid out the facts that would convince Jacob that she was telling the truth. Kate Kane was Batwoman. Watching Jacob Kane deflate as he began to believe the truth about his daughter and why she couldn't trust him enough to tell him her secret, is just one example of why I appreciate Dougray Scott's work so much.
Marko: Mary and Luke fighting about Ryan. The fact that Kate might not come back is so painful that Luke doesn’t even wanna acknowledge it. Ryan is a substitute for him and he can't look at her differently cause that would mean his best friend is gone. Both Nicole Kang and Camrus Johnson brought heart and emotion to this scene.
Prpleight: When requesting permission to marry, Simon tells the Queen the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I expected the scene to involve Simon and Daphne telling the truth when they told the Queen they were in love. Daphne's statements were along the lines of what I expected of both characters. I was surprised by how raw and honest Simon was going to be. He'd never been that honest with Daphne during their talks. There had always been a wall. Daphne was just as shocked as the others when he began to describe his feelings for her. The most unexpectedly beautiful part for me was the Queen's reaction. It was a rare glimpse into her emotional core; an indication of how deep the loss of her husband really runs. It was, for me, the standout scene of the series.
Marko: Simon makes the case to the Queen to marry Daphne. In probably the strongest scene of the first season, Regé digs deep to bring to screen all of Simon's emotions towards Daphne to convince the Queen for her approval. The amount of respect and sincerity Simon had for Daphne and how Regé translated it to the screen were overwhelming.

CHARMED, "Someone's Going to Die", January 31, 2021, Actors: Sarah Jeffery, Madeleine Mantock and more, The Scene: Maggie has a panic attack
Marko: Overwhelmed by her premonition and looming death Maggie suffers another panic attack. Sarah Jeffery's delicate acting and specific directing made the panic attack come through the screen. So vivid. So impactful.
Jessica: Halstead and Upton discuss her job offer from the FBI and share their first kiss. It took over three full seasons of a nice slow burn to reach this point, and now that we’re here I never want to go back. The threat of being separated triggered this emotional exchange between Jay and Hailey that led them to finally act on the feelings they have for one another. From the start, Jay was supportive of whatever choice Hailey was going to make despite the fear of history repeating itself and potentially losing her. And Hailey shared with Jay the reasons why she didn’t want to take the job, ultimately revealing that he was at the top of her list. Upstead being vulnerable with each other and a spontaneous, tear-filled kiss left me unable to catch my breath following this scene. It was perfection!

DICKINSON, "The Daisy follows soft the Sun", January 15, 2021, Actors: Hailee Steinfeld, Timothy Simons, The Scene: Emily talks to Frederick Law Olmsted
Luana: There were many great scenes this month but there was something special about this conversation, mainly his advice to her when she says she feels like a Daisy who can't grow without the sun and he says perhaps she should refuse to be the Daisy and start being the sun. It felt a bit like a Grey's Anatomy callback there and I loved it.

GROWN-ISH, "Public Service Announcement", January 21, 2021, Actors: Yara Shahidi, Trevor Jackson, The Scene: Aaron and Zoey clear their relationship status
Marko: And while I hate the constant push and pull between these two, Aaron's words hurt like hell. The words that came from Trevor's Aaron resonated so strong and he gave it just the right amount of emotions to land the scene.

MACGYVER, "Jack + Kinematics + Safe Cracker + MgKNO3 + GTO", January 15, 2021, Actors: Lucas Till, Tristin Mays, The Scene: Mac and Riley drive off in Jack's GTO
Thomas: Saying that episode 5 was an emotional one would be an understatement, but this final scene, where Mac gives the keys to the GTO to Riley (as per her father-figure's will) and the two drive off together to the sound of Johnny Cash as the screen fades to black really finished off Jack's story in the best of ways and with a lot of respect for his character.
Folie-lex: Amidst the storm and as they are stealing gas from one of the cars for the generator, Ethan confronts Thomas: He just has a feeling that Magnum doesn't like him. Thomas has to admit it's hard for him to have to "share" Juliet. Even though the audience is well caught on there's more to the jealousy Thomas plays it off on the pretense of their professional partnership alone. Ethan (not knowing what we do) believes him and reassures Magnum he has no intention of getting in the way of their relationship and a common ground seems to have been found. It's a well intended conversation between the two men in Higgins' life and one that as honest as possible, considering Thomas hasn't even admitted anything more is going on to himself yet.

PRODIGAL SON, "It's All in the Execution", January 12, 2021, Actors: Tom Payne, Michael Sheen, The Scene: Martin ponders about what's haunting Malcolm
Luana: I love every scene Michael Sheen is in, but especially those in which he tries to get his son to admit they're more similar than Malcolm wants to accept, I've missed this show so much.

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, "That Hope Is You, Part 2", January 7, 2021, Actors: Sonequa Martin-Green, Janet Kidder, The Scene: Michael and Osyraa fight near the data core
Laura B: While there were some things in the season 3 finale that I didn't think worked too well, this was one of the guilty pleasures of the episode for me. I just enjoyed these two going at it, gun blast backlash and all.

SUPERSTORE, "The Trough", January 28, 2021, Actors: Ben Feldman, Kelly Stables
The Scene: Jonah snaps over the breakup
Folie-lex: Edged on by poor Kelly, who just wanted to get her shift over but still cared enough to have a civil conversation with her ex, Jonah finally blows up over his break-up with Amy. It was nice to see the writers being well aware of the frustrating circumstances of the break-up that the fans have been complaining about. More than that it was cathartic, both for the audience and Jonah, to have them explicitly expressed.
Justyna: Season 5 may not have been my favorite one so far but it certainly had its moments. One of the most intense scenes I've ever seen on the show (and TV) has to be Naomi jumping out of airlock at the end of episode 7. I honestly didn't expect Naomi to die this season but I had real doubts during this sequence. There was this calmness about her. She knew exactly what she wanted to do and she chose to risk her life for a chance to save her crew, her true family on the Rocinante. Despite his past choices it was still tragic to see how much Cyn cared about Naomi and the way he was trying to help her, not realizing her actual plan. The similarities between this moment and the story she had told Filip earlier in the episode made the scene all the more powerful. I was genuinely on the edge of my seat, watching her struggle to surive in the vacuum of space long enough to reach Chetzemoka. I appreciate all the attention the creators of the show (and the books) pay to making sure that everything is as close to reality as possible. Which in this moment means extremely low chance of survival for Naomi. And yet... she does survive. Against all odds and risks, she's strong enough to hold on, to keep fighting. Dominique Tipper shines in this scene, and in this season overall. Fantastic work. The moment when Naomi is so close to death, combined with the music and then complete silence can truly take your breath away. Kudos to the cast & crew!

Jones, Titus Makin Jr., Eric Winter, The Scene: Jackson talks to Grey
Folie-lex: Jackson tries to talk to Grey about Stanton and Tim backs him up. It was a raw powerful scene to see these three cops from different generations, with different life experiences and different expectations have to come face to face with a problem that plagues their workforce. Grey has seen worse. Tim has ignored the problem. But Jackson expects better. And stands his ground to demand it and hold both the older men accountable. The real touching part was that he seemed to get through to both of them. Loved every second of it.
Luana: I know this shouldn't be on Grey, and it was great of Tim to back Jackson up, but the moment that killed me was when Grey was saying that Jackson was standing on the shoulders of every black cop who had to go through hell to rise up the ladder, and Jackson replied: "and yet the water is still above my head". Such a powerful moment.

Brown, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson, The Scenes: Kevin and Randall talk & Randall learns his birth story
Marko: I expected the whole Randall-Kevin push and pull to have a bigger impact on the season. Still, the way they play it and how they are slowly rebuilding the bridge between the brothers is really beautiful. Giving both of them the space and time to process their mistakes paid off majorly in this scene. At the end of the day they are brothers and will be there for each other.
Folie-lex: They still have ways to go, because both said terrible things and both need to reevaluate how they fit in each other's lives and what baggage they carry and how much of that they both take out on one another, but it was a sweet moment of the two brothers trying to mend fences.
Luana: Randall is happy to know his birth story - I know this is not realistic for many adopted children, but for anyone whose conception had an impact on their life and their identity, this moment hit hard. After hearing his mother's story, Randall learns to be okay with his birth parents being two imperfect people that loved him.
Justyna: This show has certainly turned out to be much better and powerful than I expected. I was hesitant at first, since I only recently warmed up to Wanda's character in the movies but the miniseries quickly won me over in the premiere. The comedy aspect had me laughing throughout the episode, but it's the moments of brutal reality (like the eerie dinner party) that made this a truly remarkable MCU experience. There's a number of memorable scenes that I could highlight from the show so far, a couple of my favorites already included in the article, so I decided to go with the moment when Wanda and Geraldine/Monica are talking about Pietro. After giving birth to her children Wanda allows a little part of reality to slip through the TV world. Her memory of Pietro lets down her guard and Monica gets a chance to actually speak to her for a short moment. That's when things take a truly dark turn, so much worse than previous strange events, because this time Wanda genuinely feels like a threat and refuses to simply switch back to the Wanda and Geraldine characters on the show. At the same time we're also listening to an unusual exchange between Vision and the neighbours and it's becoming clear that Vision realizes something is off with Westview. The scene ultimately ends with Monica being thrown out of the town, back to the reality. And the TV world we've been following finally breaks. This was such a tense, well acted moment. And I love that it's the memory of Wanda's beloved brother that starts this chain of events. We never got to spend much time with his character, but Wanda's breakdown after his death is still the most memorable part of "Age of Ultron" for me. Can't wait to see where this show takes us next. Kudos to the cast & crew for all their incredible work so far!
Prpleight: Monica wakes up next to an empty hospital bed. A great way of illustrating that most of regular people had no idea that anything had happened to them. Patients, staff and visitors return to existence around her. I feel for the patients who had previous patients appear on top of them. None of them any more aware than she that they were gone. The staff, visitors, and patients are in a panic because of the sudden appearance of all these people. The sequence was crafted to generate a sense of chaos the audience didn't get to experience in Endgame. It was nice to get a chance to see what it was like for the bulk of the population when people returned.
Folie-lex: The dinner party takes an eerie turn. The first episode of the show played by every 50s sitcom rule, until the dinner party, when Mr and Mrs Hart started asking the easiest questions that seemed so hard for our beloved couple to answer. And then suddenly Mr. Hart starts choking. Mrs. Hart asks Arthur to stop, then turns to Wanda. But with every "Stop it" with a stiff smile glued on her face the panic in her voice, as Mr. Hart stuggles for air, is evident. This was our first indication something is off with this reality, and that this show isn't just a "sitcom starring two Avengers".
Jamie: Monica returns from the snap: I was not expecting this scene. It caught me completely off guard. The movie made it seem like everyone returning was only positive. But the chaos of this scene, Monica finding out her mother is dead... It's one that will stay with me for a while. So far the show had been mostly comedy with a few hints at a darker theme. But this is a complete departure from that.
Thomas: Switching to color - There is much to say about WandaVision, and like often when so much happens in big (and much-anticipated) TV shows, the little details are what strike me the most. I found the switch from black and white to color at the end of the episode to be a nice little touch, instead of just switching off-screen between episodes 2 and 3... and the characters' reactions to it, as well as the quality of the special effects were very enjoyable!

ZOEY'S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST, "Zoey’s Extraordinary Distraction", January 12, 2021, Actors: Jane Levy, Skylar Astin, The Scene: Zoey and Max sing a duet
Luana: Oh, how I've missed this show. I loved how they handled their intimacy issues with Zoey's powers, perhaps it was not the right moment for them, but I know one day it will be.

The performer who would ultimately come in as the runner-up was the odds on favorite to win. Then came a single tweet from a fellow nominee acknowledging the poll. At that point, the ultimate winner started a slow march to overtake the leader. The winner would not only overtake the lead but would continue on to secure a strong lead that would earn the win. Make no mistake, just because this winner was an underdog coming in doesn’t make this win any less earned or deserved. This win just goes to show that no performer should ever be counted out. The dedication of fans to support a noteworthy performance can be a powerful force to be reckoned with.
Ah Toy from Warrior can be described in three words: cunning, focused and caring (though she tries to hide that). Her portrayer, Olivia Cheng, artfully brings each of those qualities to life as she guides Ah Toy through one challenge after another. The second season of the show gave Cheng several strong storylines to portray and she handled each one with an incredible amount of skill and grace. Man On The Wall (2x10) was the culmination of a season that was trying yet hopeful for Ah Toy. This episode allowed Cheng to showcase the vulnerability this character was forced into as she dealt with the repercussions of the horrific injuries she sustained in All Enemies, Foreign And Domestic (2x8) while protecting her brothel and Nellie (Miranda Raison). Cheng normally carries Ah Toy with a stiff spine and a twinkle in her eyes. She makes sure that the audience can see Ah Toy calculating her next move every moment she is on screen. This is a character that Cheng always has to keep firm control over and be very calculated in her performance. This episode allowed Cheng to get into the core of who Ah Toy is below her fierce exterior. The character is free to show some of her true self with Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji), but it was the introduction of Nellie this season that really allowed Cheng to dive deeper into her vast skill range to show a whole new emotional dynamic for the character. That was on full display in the season finale and it was the showcase performance that Cheng delivered in this episode that earned her the title of SpoilerTV’s December Readers’ Choice Performer of the Month.

For two seasons now there has been a talented actor behind the mask of The Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal. An actor who through his voice and body language has created an iconic Star Wars character that fans have grown to love and root for, Din Djarin. This stoic single-minded warrior has had one mission for two seasons, protect the young foundling we now know as Grogu, aka baby Yoda and get him back to his people. In the later episodes of Season 2, he demonstrated just how far he would go for his young charge. He leads a rag tag group in search of Moff Gideon who has taken the child for the empire. And in the final episode of Season 2, appropriately entitled The Rescue (2x8), Pascal gives us The Mandalorian at his warrior driven finest, fighting nearly insurmountable odds all for a child that to whom he had become oddly attached. While the action-packed episode, which culminated in on of the most talked-about cameos on television this season, it was not the warrior Mandalorian that touched fans. It was a simple quiet moment at the episode’s end that demonstrated everything the character was and allowed Pascal to show the heart behind the warrior. For a Mandalorian, his helmet was who he was, but Pascal shows the man behind the mask when he removes that revered helmet to say good bye to Grogu with tears in his eyes. For this heart-tugging moment and his skill in creating The Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal was selected the SpoilerTV’s December Staff Choice Performer of the Month.
