NOTE: If you want to see all dates and not just Premiere Dates, then you should use the Calendar in our Episode Database.

What's HOT and Popular Posts section Update 2 - 15th June 2013

Update: 15th June - 20:00 We've just added a new widget to additionally show the trending videos as well.

Update: 15th June - 09:00 We've made a few little tweaks based on some feedback.

1) The Trending Shows table now shows you the Top 20, rather than just the Top 10.

2) The Trending Posts table now shows you the full title text of the article.

We've just added a new little feature to the site so you can see what is currently trending/hot on SpoilerTV.

You can access the new page directly from the link below as well as it being available in both the Start and All Features menu at the top of the site and the "What's Hot" link under the banner.

The page is updated hourly and shows which Articles and Shows are currently trending and below that which articles are currently generating the most popular discussion/comments on the site.

Now that the 2012/13 is over I thought it would be interesting to see what were the most popular shows here at SpoilerTV for the 2012/13 Season.

The Popularity score is based on a calculation of Page Views, Video Plays, Poll Votes, Comments, Google+1's, Facebook Likes and Tweets.

Shows in green were new shows for the 2012/13 season. Stats are from 1st Sept 2012 to 13th June 2013

You can now see who Voted Up your @Disqus comments

Disqus have just rolled out new little feature that now lets you see who has upvoted your comments.

Simply hover over the Up Vote counter and a little popup will be displayed.

If you want to see a persons profile you can then click on their name.

This will then display their full profile and give you the ability to follow them.

Note: Still no word from Disqus yet about either having the ability to disable down-votes or to see who has down-voted a comment. We'll keep you informed of any progress.

The STV Favourite TV Series Competition 2013 - It Begins Today - Submit Your Entries For The Competition!

Update: We're closing in on 1000 nominations now guys. Fantastic stuff. Keep spreading the word to get more people picking their favourites!
Also, 24 counts as a current show, as it's back from cancellation!

In 2010 a competition set SpoilerTV alight. Thousands of fans helped two Winchester brothers beat the Salvatore brothers to walk away with the title.

In 2011 Supernatural were pushed all the way in an epic two day battle that saw over 20,000 people help narrowly beat Fringe to claim a second title in a row.

In 2012 a new victor emerged, as Richard Castle stole the title away from the people of Storybrooke in a record breaking contest..

The battle is about to begin.

But first we need your help.

Out of the thousands of TV series there are, old and new, great or poor, we need just 64.

You can vote for your favourite two current TV series, and your favourite two finished TV series. The top 32 current TV series and the top 32 finished TV series will make the final 64, which will begin on July 1st 2013.

You have until June 24th to enter your submissions in the form below.

Remember, a current TV series is any show that has aired/will air new episodes after 1st June 2013. A finished TV series is any show that had aired its final episode by 1st June 2013. Therefore a show like Fringe would now be a finished TV series, whilst Game of Thrones would be classed as current.

One show I feel it worth to highlight. Arrested Development is being counted as a current TV series, as even though it aired all of Season 4 on May 26th, there is no reason to confirm one way or the other that the show is finished as of that date. Hey All,

Just wanted to alert you to this new feature here at SpoilerTV. We're going to try tracking all the potential upcoming shows/scripts that are currently being developed by the major networks. A lot of these shows never see the light of day, however a number of them get taken to pilot and then if the pilot goes well get taken to series. (Once a show gets ordered to series it gets added to the main SpoilerTV site)

A big thanks to Stickoxydal and Lind for helping us get this up and running and for pulling together this data and a big thanks to The Futon Critic for supplying the bulk of the data.

Below you can see an embedded version of the spreadsheet that we'll be maintaining. You can also access the Spreadsheet directly here (http://bit.ly/STVDevelopmentWatch ). You can also access via the Feature section of the Navigation Menu.

We hope to keep this table updated regularly and if you have any comments/suggestions please let us know in the comments.

The SpoilerTV Show Status Report 10th June 2013

The SpoilerTV Show Status Report is an organized list of the TV shows that are currently airing and returning to TV. This list, powered by Google Docs, is updated regularly by us and will have up-to-date information such as renewal info and premiere/return dates. In addition, each show on the list also has regular info, such as current season, its network and the regular timeslot. We hope that this will make it easier than ever to track your favorite TV series from start to finish!

Changelog:
Jan. 13, 2013: Thanks to Stacy for revamping the report and adding more shows. This is now one of the most comprehensive lists on the Internet I believe now.

Nov. 4, 2012: Added renewals for Hell on Wheels and Wilfred, and added premiere dates for Community, Smash, 1600 Penn, Deception, Necessary Roughness, Suits and White Collar.
Oct. 28, 2012: Added premiere dates for Whitney, The Following and Touch. Also added "Cancelled" to Animal Practice's notes and "Final season" to Private Practice's notes. Plus, added third season renewal to Homeland.
Oct. 17, 2012: Added premiere dates for Girls (Jan. 13) and Enlightened (Jan. 13). Also added in Bob's Burgers' renewal.
Oct. 10, 2012: Added premiere date for Psych S07 (Feb. 27) and removed Made in Jersey (officially cancelled). In addition, Whitney and Community's initial Oct. 19 premieres have been postponed and their list entries have been changed back to default.

Important Information About the Guide:
- New shows will be added once their initial premiere date is announced. This is because some shows tend to be pushed back further than expected, and we want to keep this guide as clean as possible with only confirmed info on the list.

- If a show finishes its season finale before being renewed for another season, it will be removed from the list. This is because some shows take a long while before any renewal or cancellation info is announced. If it gets renewed, then the show will be added back on to the list.

- We are constantly working on improving this list to fit the taste of the readers/viewers. If you have an opinion on something we can add or change, feel free to drop off a comment in the comment section!

SpoilerTV Chrome Extension Updated 5th June 2013

We're pleased to announce the release of our brand new Chrome Extension for SpoilerTV. We've listened to a lot of the feedback that people have been sendin us and we hope that you like this new version.

Introduction - Why do I need this
Over the years we've had a lot of feedback about the site and how people can be kept up to date with the latest news/spoilers/articles etc. We have a number of mechanisms already in place, ie the RSS Feeds, Twitter Alerts. Both of these require you to use a RSS Feedreader or Twitter Client or load the Twitter page or simply by loading SpoilerTV and pressing F5 to see if there is any new content. This extension means you no longer need any of that to be kept up to date with SpoilerTV.

Features

- Alerts (unread count) for new articles
- Customizable by topics in Options Panel
- Updates every 60 seconds
- Easy sharing via Twitter, Facebook
- Allows easy search of SpoilerTV's online news archive

This extension sits in your Chrome Browser bar and will alert you whenever there is new content that YOU are interested in.

Don't want the Movies news cluttering up your information? Cool, you can turn it off.

Want the Latest Ratings News? Great you can turn that on.

Just interested in Supernatural, House and Fringe. Great, you can just be alerted for those 3 shows.

In fact you can change many options of the whole extension and tailor it to how YOU want it.

Requirements
This extension currently only works with Google Chrome and to be honest you should really think about changing browsers to Chrome as it's the fastest and most secure of all the browsers and one that we all use here at SpoilerTV.

Installation
To install the Extension, just visit the SpoilerTV Extension Page here. Click Install and follow the instructions. Once done you will be taken to a Welcome Page and promoted if necessary to setup your Options.

Using
The Extension just sits their patiently waiting for the new content that you've asked for to be updated. Once it is the SpoilerTV Icon will show you the number of new items that have been loaded.

Click on the Icon to see all the Posts that you are interested in sorted by time and the new items will be at the top and highilighted in orange. Clicking the title link will open up that post and you can Share the post directly to Facebook or Twitter on the Extension.

Mobile Site Updated - June 2013

Hey All,

As you may or may not know we recently had to discontinue our Android and iOS SpoilerTV Apps due to the company who provide them shutting down.

As a result we've made some updates to our Mobile version of the site to make it a little easier to use and navigate.

- Improved Comments for slower connections
- Improved device compatibility
- Easier Poll Option selecting

We hope you find these updates useful and if you have any comments/suggestions/bugs please don't hesitate in contacting us either in the comments, or via the Feedback link on main desktop site or by emailing us.

Accessing the Mobile Version
The mobile version should load automatically whenever you access the site on your Mobile phone/Tablet.

If the mobile site does not load automatically on your phone, simply use the mobile address m.spoilertv.com

When it loads you should see a screen similar to this.

Navigation
When you first load up the mobile version you will see the Navigation Menu along the top of the screen. Clicking on the SpoilerTV text in the menu will always take you back to the homepage.

On the left hand side of the menu you will see a "menu" icon.

Clicking that will expose a pull out menu that allows you to access many of the popular sections on SpoilerTV. (If you have any suggestions about other items you'd like to see in there, please let me know in the comments and we'll see if it's practical to add them)

You can click on the Close Menu item to close the menu or you can click anywhere outside of the menu to hide it again.

We also have a Select Show filter.

Pressing this will allow you to display just the posts for a particular show or label. eg Selecting Castle will display just the posts tagged with Castle. or Select Polls will display all the posts tagged with Polls.

Simply click the "Select Show" button.

This will then bring up a menu for you to select the show you want to view.

Just tap the show you want.

Landscape
The mobile site has been improved to make it load better on tables and on phones in Landscape mode. This includes videos, Polls and articles.

At the bottom of the main page you will see 2 buttons that allow you to goto the next page of articles.

Viewing Articles
To view an article simply press on the Article title. This will load the contents of the article onto the screen.

Articles should work exactly like they do on the non-mobile version. Polls and Video should work on most modern phones and tablets

Video
Videos can now be played in full screen on a larger number of compatible devices. Simply click on the full screen icon.

Commenting
Just like on the main desktop site, the mobile version allows you to both read and write comments on articles.

For users with slower connections or older phones, there is a new button called "Launch Disqus Mobile".

Clicking that will load an optimised and faster loading version of the comments. This is particularly useful for posts with lots of comments. As a result things like threaded replies are not displayed. The mobile Disqus version looks like this.

Taping on an existing comment will bring up a small set of menu options that allow you to reply/vote up/down etc

Easier Poll Option Selecting

On the old mobile version, trying to click the options you wanted to vote on was a bit tricky on smaller phones or those of you like me with fat fingers.

The polls options should now be much easier to select.

Popular Posts
At the bottom of each page there is a section called "Popular Posts". This will display the most popular posts on the site for the past 7 Days. Just click on the article to load it onto your screen.

Stay Updated
At the very bottom of the screen, we've provided some quick links to our main social media accounts, so that you can follow/like us on those mediums.

We hope you find these updates useful and if you have any comments/suggestions/bugs please don't hesitate in contacting us either in the comments, or via the Feedback link on main desktop site or by emailing us.

Known Issues
- On some older mobile devices occasionally a poll or video may not load. Simply press refresh on your phones browser should fix the issue. We'll hopefully get this fixed shortly.

Announcing the new SpoilerTV Banner for 2013/14

We're pleased to announce that our new Official SpoilerTV Banner is from the talented Supra.

You may remember that Supra also recently won our Banner Competition for our new FanShowcase site.

After well over 100+ fantastic banner entries it's now time for you to vote for the banner that you would like to see as the Official Banner for the 2013/14 Season.

The SpoilerTV Team have gone through all the entries and they have all picked their Favourites. I have then collated the best 21 of these picks which we present below.

SpoilerTV Readers Cancellation/Renewal Predictions Table 2012/13 31st May

Update: 31st May With the recent Renewal of Hannibal, SpoilerTV get another prediction correct.

Update: 11th May A big update today with all the recent renewals/cancellations added. We now only have a few "unknowns" left. We have also added the success % to table below.

You're on course to beat last years 73% success rate as your success rate so far stands at 80%

Update: 10th Updated with all the recent renewals/cancellations.

Update: 8th May With the Renewal of Parks and Recreation, SpoilerTV Readers get another correct prediction.

Update: 19th April With Today's Glee renewal (see here), SpoilerTV gets another correct prediction.

Alternative TV Ratings Scorecard 31st May

Data Last Updated: Up to and including 29th May 2013.

Update: 27th March With Today's CBS Renewals the tables have been updated.

Update: 12th Feb We've improved the accuracy of this table to only look at the previous 4 episodes so that shows with big premiere ratings and then large drops offs are more accurately reflected. This means that shows with recent low ratings will appear more accurately in the table.

Update: 20th Dec Now that DarkUFO has added the average Network Scores (see this post for details), we can now improve the accuracy of this chart even more.

- Shows that are below their networks 18-49 average get a lower weighting
- Shows that are above their networks 18-49 average get a height weighting

For example CBS shows on average have a higher average than FOX so a show on FOX with a 2.4 rating will get a slightly higher weighting than a show with a 2.4 on CBS. This should help make the table much more accurate.

Update: 18th Oct Just to inform everyone that I have tweaked the formulas now that we have more ratings data in order to make the ratings more accurate.

I’ve been fascinated with TV Ratings for several years after wondering why some of my favourite TV shows were getting cancelled. So it was great that I stumbled on SpoilerTV and their detailed daily ratings, Full Tables and their excellent Cancellation/Renew Tables.

As a result I've tried to come up with my own formula/ratings to see how well a show is performing and after chatting with DarkUFO and he’s allowed me to make this a post on the site that I hope to keep updated fairly regularly, probably each Monday.

It will be interesting to see how closely this matches with the Official SpoilerTV Cancellation Chart and if it is more or less accurate.

I've tried to simplify the formula to come up with a “Score” for each broadcast show. The formula is basically calculated as follows

- The bulk of the “score” comes from the 18-49 Rating as this is where the bulk of the advertising money and hence profits for a show come from
- We also look at the total number of viewers and give shows with large numbers a better weighting
- Shows that are on Fridays get an increased weighting as these tend to have lower numbers
- Shows on the CW also get a weighting increase as it's a much smaller network than the big 4 (ABC/CBS/FOX/NBC)
- Shows which have 5 or more seasons get an increased weighting as they are likely to be in Syndication

Let’s look at some examples to show you what I mean.

Example 1
Show 1 on ABC has a 18-49 rating of 2.1 and has 10 Million viewers
Show 2 on ABC has a 18-49 rating of 2.1 and has 20 Million viewers

Show 2 will have a better “score” as it has more total viewers

Example 2
Show 1 on ABC has a 18-49 rating of 2.1 and has 10 Million viewers. It airs on Mondays
Show 2 on ABC has a 18-49 rating of 2.1 and has 10 Million viewers. It airs on Fridays

Show 2 will have a better “score” as it airs on Fridays

Example 3
Show 1 on ABC has a 18-49 rating of 0.9 and has 3 Million viewers.
Show 2 on CW has a 18-49 rating of 0.9 and has 3 Million viewers.

Show 2 will have a better “score” as it airs on The CW

Example 4
Show 1 on ABC has a 18-49 rating of 2.1 and has 10 Million viewers. This is a new show
Show 2 on ABC has a 18-49 rating of 2.1 and has 10 Million viewers. Show is in it’s 5th Season

Show 2 will have a better “score” as it been running longer

So here is the full table so far. Obviously shows with a low score are not doing very well and shows with a large score are doing very well and are more likely to be renewed.

- These tables are just for the Broadcast Networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX and NBC)
- The % drop/gain calculations are based on show average compared to their premiere episode.

Update: 31st May With the recent Renewal of Hannibal this brings the Cancellation Table fully up to date for another season. We'll see you all again in September :)

Update: 11th May Wow, crazy day yesterday with the huge number of cancellations/renewals. The table has been updated and we're just waiting on the fate of Hannibal before we finish another season of the Cancellation predictor table.

Overall I'm very pleased with the results as you can see.

- The top 29 shows predicted to be cancelled, were cancelled.
- The top 28 shows predicted to be renewed, were renewed.

Biggest shocks of the season for me.

- Carrie Diaries getting renewed
- How to Live With Your Parents getting cancelled (it's ratings were better than a number of other ABC shows)

Welcome to this years SpoilerTV Cancellation Predictor.

Last year, each week, we updated our data (see the notes below about how we get our data) in order to see if we could predict which show(s) would be renewed or cancelled. As you can see from last years summary, we did pretty well, with the exception of Fringe, Whitney, and Terra Nova our table was pretty accurate. The top 14 shows predicated to be cancelled were indeed cancelled.

This index is by no means a 100% accurate guide about if your show is safe or in danger and should be seen as a bit of FUN.

NOTE: Until we have at least 3-4 weeks of data for each show that this table is not going to be very accurate and it will vary a lot each update. We'll try to update the full Cancellation Table every couple of days as we get new data in.

NOTES - Please Read:
1) The Higher the Index Rating the more likely a show is to get cancelled, lower numbers = safety.
2) This is an ongoing exercise that I hope to refine each week to make the index more accurate.
3) Only the major networks are included currently ie ABC/FOX/CW/CBS/NBC.
4) This chart is a prediction of all the shows using our own formula based on the viewing numbers, 18-49, and + 7 Numbers. These 3 factors are the main weighting of the Index number, however we also factor in things such as the Network they are on (eg CW shows get lower numbers), the day of week they air (eg Fridays are lower numbers), DVR Numbers and +7 numbers,DVD/Blu-Ray Sales,Production Costs, Cast Contracts/Availability, Syndication, online popularity such as streamed views and Torrents etc.
5) Shows still might not get renewed despite good numbers due eg a show coming to an end of run eg Fringe is in it's finale season no matter what the ratings are etc or could be due to key cast wanting to leave after their contracts have expired. An example might be Supernatural if it’s two leads, Jared and Jensen wanted out, would Supernatural be renewed even if it had good numbers but no leads for the new season? etc
6) Shows that have been renewed for a New Season are marked in Blue
7) Shows with an Index over 2.75 are likely to be cancelled, 2.50-2.75 - in danger and less that 2.50 safe. Although shows nearer 2.50 are more in danger than a show with a lower index.

Once we have all the submissions the SpoilerTV Team will then narrow down the submissions to the best 10 or 20, and then you will all have the opportunity to vote on which one will be our new banner. (You can see last years entries here)

Hey All,

Some sad news to announce to those of you who use our SpoilerTV Android and/or iOS App. The company that we used to produce this app will cease operations shortly and therefore the APP will no longer be supported or updated.

I'm currently exploring other companies that provide similar functionality/features but we don't expect this to happen anytime soon unfortunately.

If you're a mobile user we recommend that if you wish to access the site on your mobile device that you access our mobile version of the site here m.spoilertv.com

The mobile version does have some advantages over the native app.

- Works on any modern device
- Videos should work with or without flash installed
- You can read, reply and write comments.
- Polls work correctly

These were things that the app didn't support. The main features that the app had over the mobile version was that of Notifications and the ability to list just the show(s) you wanted. Unfortunately these features are not available on the mobile version.

May 2013 Cable Ratings Guide

I'm back with another monthly look at the cable TV landscape! As always, I'll note that I mostly traffic in adults 18-49 ratings below. (That's always what I mean by "demo.") However, these should be taken with some grain of salt. I use A18-49 ratings because of availability and because they're a reasonable way of making comparisons across networks, but be advised that it is not necessarily the be-all-end-all number it is on broadcast. Not all of these networks target that demographic specifically. For the regular readers, shows that just began a season in this edition are in blue.

All numbers are up to date through Thursday, May 16. There's lots of spring wrap-up here, as over half of the 37 shows in this month's edition wrapped up their seasons. There will be a ton of premieres in the next one as we get into the early part of the summer!

Bates Motel (A&E): A&E's new drama had a consistently strong first season run, going somewhere between 1.0 and 1.3 in each of its ten episodes and averaging a 1.19. The show's three strongest episodes (all right around a 1.3 demo) were all in the last four weeks, but then the show took an odd dip to a 1.05 for last week, on a night when several other shows dropped.

Duck Dynasty (A&E): As nice as the Bates Motel story has been, the real crown jewel on A&E of late has been reality series Duck Dynasty, the latest cable megahit. It averaged an unbelievable 3.78 demo in its spring 2013 run, frequently beating every single broadcast show on the night (including Modern Family and American Idol).

The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family): Once the show that put the ABC Family network on the map, Secret Life now ends its run getting unspooled during a relatively slow time of year for the network. It's averaging a mere 0.46 demo in this final run, down a whooping 40% from this time a year ago, and in recent weeks it's stabilized at right around a paltry 0.4.

The Walking Dead (AMC): In the last edition, we had all but the finale numbers. And what a finale it was, averaging a staggering 6.4 demo rating, a series high and tied for the highest number for any regularly-scheduled entertainment episode, broadcast or cable, all season. It boosted the season average to a 5.78, up 48% from last spring and easily higher than any entertainment show on broadcast.

Mad Men (AMC): In recent weeks, The Walking Dead has handed the Sunday night baton off to the much lower-rated Mad Men. Though the show has historically continued to grow as the buzz has built, this season may indicate the show has finally peaked. The 1.1 demo premiere on April 7 was the first season premiere to not mark a series high, and it's dropped below a 1.0 in subsequent weeks. It's now averaging a 0.96 demo, down by 6% on the first seven hours of last season.

The Game (BET): While The Game is still among the highest-rated comedies on cable, it's no longer capable of the truly breakthrough ratings of its first couple seasons on BET. The 1.2 demo for its March 26 return was down more than half from last season's premiere, but unlike in previous seasons, it's settled pretty close to the premiere rating (hitting a 1.0 each of the last four weeks). So while the 1.02 average is still -43% year-to-year, that gap should continue to close unless the show collapses from here.

Let's Stay Together (BET): Since The Game arrived on BET, Let's Stay Together has been its lead-out and basically followed its ratings trajectory. Its 0.71 average is down 41% from last season's first eight.

Tosh.0 (Comedy Central): Tosh.0 remains one of the great draws for young male viewers on cable, though its 1.30 demo average this spring is down 17% from last year.

Justified: The season finale of Justified was another one of those head-scratching moments (kind of like the Bates Motel finale), as it dropped to a series low 0.74 demo. Still, it was another rock-solid season for the veteran FX drama, which turned in a 0.90 demo average, dead even with last year.

The Americans: FX's critically-acclaimed rookie drama started well enough with a 1.2 demo premiere in January, but it settled at only half of that at best in the second half of the season. While it's not a total flop at a 0.67 demo average, FX will certainly be hoping to boost the buzz around the show during its long hiatus.

Anger Management: FX continues to limp through its substantial 90-episode order for Anger Management; the show has actually dropped as low as a 0.3 demo on a couple recent occasions. It's averaging a 0.51 for the season, less than half of its average from those first ten episodes last summer, and it's usually lower than that lately.

Archer: While Anger Management has struggled in the Thursday 9:30 slot for FX, they've at least had a true breakout performance at 10:00 with Archer. The animated comedy averaged a 0.93 demo, up a stout 38% from last season, and it closed the season on April 11 with a near-series high 1.08 demo.

Legit: Archer's lead-out Legit was a flop by pretty much any Nielsen rating measure, averaging just a 0.37 demo despite its strong lead-in. But FX creatively rescued the show by shipping its second season off to new sister network FXX.

Game of Thrones (HBO): When The Walking Dead and The Bible wrapped up their seasons, some might have thought that'd be the end of all the stories about some cable upstart beating every single broadcast network show on Sunday nights. Instead, Game of Thrones has taken up the mantle, pulling off the feat three times already this season. And it's having a breakout season compared to its previous ratings, averaging a huge 2.55 demo and getting as high as a 2.9 a couple weeks ago. That average is up 34% on the first seven of last season.

Veep (HBO): Sophomore comedy Veep has ridden the Game of Thrones wave, growing 21% in season two to a 0.65 demo. Of course, that means its retention of Game of Thrones is only about a quarter, but HBO tells us we are not supposed to care about things like that!

The Bible (History): Among the many huge events on Sunday nights this spring was History's The Bible miniseries, which started at a huge 3.3 demo, then dropped into the upper 2's for most of the rest of the run before getting back to a 3.0 for the March 31 finale. Overall, it averaged a 2.85 and was yet another cable offering that embarrassed the broadcast programs on the night.

Vikings (History): One of the great stories of the late spring in cable was how well new drama Vikings held up after its huge lead-in The Bible came to an end. Considering History renewed the drama before we ever got to see one of those ratings, it had to be a big sigh of relief. The show dropped from a 1.3 in its last post-Bible ep to a 1.2 in its first without-Bible ep, and then it actually got back to its post-Bible levels in the last couple episodes (1.4 and 1.3). The season as a whole averaged a very solid 1.41 demo.

Army Wives (Lifetime): The almost complete cast overhaul on Army Wives has led to further ratings declines for the series. It's averaging a 0.79 demo through ten episodes, down by 19% year-to-year. But the three highest ratings for the season have all come in the last month, so maybe the new cast is catching on to some degree.

The Client List (Lifetime): Last season, The Client List became perhaps Lifetime's biggest scripted success since Army Wives. This season, it's remained pretty strong, averaging a 0.84 demo through ten episodes and usually building on its Army Wives lead-in. That average is down 10% from last year.

Awkward (MTV): The MTV comedy made a solid return to the airwaves on April 16, averaging a 0.92 demo in its two-episode premiere, actually a little ahead of the previous season's premiere. But it's been all downhill from there, hitting a 0.6 or 0.7 the next three weeks and then getting as low as an ugly 0.5 last week. Its 0.71 average is down a perfectly reasonable 8% from last year's first six eps, but that's going to get worse unless it starts to rebound fast.

Shameless (Showtime): I'll run through Showtime's early spring lineup quickly since we had most of the info in the last edition. Shameless grew to a strong 0.9 for the finale, finishing off another season of growth. The 0.82 average was up 16% year-to-year.

House of Lies (Showtime): House of Lies followed Shameless and also had a positive season, but not to the same extent as Shameless. Its 0.44 average was up 5%.

Californication (Showtime): By 10:30, the Showtime growth was over; Californication averaged a mere 0.31 demo, and a show that sometimes grew from House of Lies last year couldn't pull it off this time. It was down 20% year-to-year.

Being Human: After getting mired in the 0.4 range for awhile, Being Human finished its season pretty well, hitting a 0.6 and two 0.5's in the last three weeks. The season averaged a 0.48 demo, down a large 26% year-to-year, but that's not such a bad number for Syfy, so it's coming back for season four in 2014.

Lost Girl: Syfy followed Being Human with Canadian import Lost Girl, which finished season three with a 0.37 average, down 17% from its average in the first two seasons. It's also coming back for season four.

Defiance: On a network where 0.4 to 0.5 in the demo has sadly become the new standard for scripted programming, Defiance has looked like a potential breath of fresh air. It premiered to a strong 1.0 demo on April 15, then dropped to 0.8 and held there in weeks two, three and four. Last week brought another big drop, to 0.6, but it was on a night of several other odd drops, so we'll have to see if it was just a blip. The season is averaging a 0.85 demo to date, making it a comfortable season two renewal for Syfy.

Warehouse 13: Despite a good lead-in from Defiance, Warehouse 13 hasn't looked good early in its regular season run. It's averaged just a 0.47 demo, down 26% from the first three of last summer. It's got seven more episodes this season, and Syfy announced it'll then have a six-episode final season.

WWE Smackdown!: Syfy's wrestling franchise has stuck in the general 0.7 vicinity in April and May, occasionally getting up to a 0.8 or down to a 0.6. It's down in the low teens from last season at this time, which is about the same year-to-year trend it's maintained all season.

Merlin: British import Merlin recently returned to play out its final few episodes. The first couple eps in early May maintained about the same 0.3 to 0.4 level it was getting when it last aired in February. The season as a whole (counting the winter run) is averaging a 0.40, down 20% year-to-year.

Cougar Town (TBS): Broadcast refugee Cougar Town finished its first season on cable with a 0.94 demo average, down a third from its final ABC season. It usually dropped significantly from its lead-in, repeats of The Big Bang Theory, but that's true of pretty much every original on TBS, so these numbers were good enough to get the show renewed for another season.

Men at Work (TBS): TBS brought back last summer's decent performer Men at Work, and it's done a lot worse against regular season competition. It's averaging a 0.76 demo, down 26% year-to-year, and it got as low as a 0.6 last week against huge finales from American Idol, The Office and Scandal. We'll have to see if it perks up a bit in the next few weeks as the competition lightens.

Dallas: Though Dallas' move into the winter/spring managed just a 0.75 demo, down nearly a third from its summer 2012 ratings, those ratings were still enough to make it the brightest spot of a weak spring for TNT. It'll be back again in early 2014.

Monday Mornings: Its lead-out Monday Mornings was not so lucky; it was dead on arrival with a 0.31 premiere on February 4, and while it maintained that number exactly over the full season (averaging a 0.31), that level simply wasn't good enough.

Southland: TNT also got out the axe for acclaimed cop drama Southland, which took a 21% dip in season five to just a 0.50 average. It finished the run relatively well, spiking to a season high 0.68 demo on April 17, but unfortunately it wasn't enough.

Boston's Finest: The other survivor of TNT's winter/spring slate was reality series Boston's Finest, whose renewal was announced at the Turner upfront. It averaged a pretty low 0.37 demo, but it was almost certainly a much less expensive option than shows like Southland and Monday Mornings.

WWE Raw (USA): The USA wrestling institution has averaged a 1.52 demo in April and May, a couple notches below where it was at this time last year but still soundly stronger than pretty much all of the network's drama programming.

Psych (USA): Psych is another of those shows airing mostly on an island during a slow time of year for its usually busy network. But it's keeping the lights on fairly effectively, averaging a 0.84 demo rating through 12 episodes. That's just 6% below what it averaged last spring.
