I am a HUGE fan of Firefly, a BIG fan of Dr. Horrible, and enjoyed both Buffy and Angel when I caught them though was not fanatical about them. Dollhouse, however, was enjoyable but inconsistent, and not Joss' best work.
Firefly was brilliant, original, cohesive, and compelling right from the start, with the cast gelling as if they'd been working together for years beforehand. Dollhouse depended too much on Eliza Dushku, and whatever her acting talents may be, the emptiness of Echo that was filled a different way each week was NOT enough to carry the show as much as it was forced to. Fox was great to give it a second season at the last second, but you can hardly blame them when the ratings never really improved. Unfortunately, DVD sales, DVR and online viewing of shows doesn't appeal to the advertisers who are the ultimate funders of these shows. While I wish it could have more of a chance, that Fox had waited until 1/2 or 2/3 of the shows had aired before making a final decision, it could hardly come as a shock to anyone that they made this decision. At least cancelling it this early means we can get closure, and have a true series finale rather than a cliffhanger. With regards to Pushing Daisies, their finale was very, very rushed and compressed into mere moments of closure. I found PD to be far more compelling, original, well-acted, etc. than Dollhouse, and a greater loss. I'm sure we will see the talents from Dollhouse again on television, and that Joss will be sure to carry them with him in his future projects, even if he limits them to web work and film. I'll keep my eye out for his work, and enjoy Dollhouse while it lasts.

What the frick? This totally bites! The problem that that stupid networks don't freaking know how to treat Joss Whedon's shows. Yes, they may not bring in the biggest ratings, but they garner a very devoted following. Dollhouse is an awesome show that has a lot more to it than what is on its surface. They just need to give it a freaking chance!

First Firefly, now Dollhouse. While I recognize Dollhouse wasn't as good as Firefly, it was JUST getting amazing.
