ABC is developing a Black-ish spinoff pilot, focusing on young Bow being raised in a biracial family, SpoilerTV has learned.
The network is currently casting the roles of young Bow, her parents Alicia and Paul, her maternal aunt Denise and her paternal grandfather Harrison.
The pilot episode revolves around Bow not fitting in at school and her mom Alicia going to work for her rich grandfather Harrison at Johnson and Johnson Esquire.
This would be 2nd Black-ish after Grown-ish, which focuses on Bow's daughter Zoey and her friends at college. Grown-ish was set up as a backdoor pilot in the penultimate episode of season 3. ABC ended up passing the show on to their sibling network Freeform where it was recently renewed for a 3rd season.
It is not yet known if it will be a typical pilot or a backdoor pilot (like Grown-ish). Anton Cropper (Suits, Black-ish) will be directing.
