Fox has given a script commitment with penalty to two multi-camera semi-autobiographical comedies, Uncle Joey, toplined by comedian Joey Diaz and written by Sivert Glarum and Michael Jamin (King of the Hill, Maron), and Significant Brother, written by Scott King (Difficult People) and Moe Jelline (You Again).

Written by Glarum and Jamin, Uncle Joey is inspired by the comedy of Diaz. It follows a Cuban immigrant (Diaz) with a troubled past who’s given a second chance at life when he moves his family to an upscale suburb. Intent on being the best family man possible, Joey works to raise his young daughter with old school values in today’s rapidly changing world.

Significant Brother is inspired by King and Jellene’s real-life friendship. It follows a newlywed couple as their marriage is tested, but ultimately strengthened, when the husband’s estranged gay brother moves in and becomes best friends with his wife.

The project hails from writers VJ Boyd and Mark Bianculli (S.W.A.T.), Universal Television and Sony Pictures Television, whose feature sibling studios shared distribution of the film, in association with Uni TV-based Keshet Studios.

Written by Boyd and Bianculli, The Bone Collector follows Lincoln Rhyme, a retired genius forensic criminologist left paralyzed after an accident on the job. When a harrowing case brings him back to the force, Rhyme partners up with an ambitious young detective, Amelia Sachs, to take down some of the most dangerous criminals in the U.S.

Rebecca Creskoff (Hung) will recur as Melba Locklear, a Sarasota native who was a child model for catalogs and print campaigns throughout the southeast. This transitioned into beauty pageants and, ultimately a meteorologist gig on the local news, until an on-air, obscenity-strewn meltdown cost Melba her career in journalism. A lengthy rehabilitation followed, during which she met Mac, who was battling a cocaine addiction. They married shortly thereafter. Today, Melba is the picture of a Sarasota mover and shaker.

Michael Horse (Twin Peaks) will recur as Mac Locklear, Melba’s (Creskoff) husband. Affable, always nattily dressed in bespoke suits, Mac Locklear is a dashing Native American male who is involved in the seedy/glamorous world of Florida gaming. At face value, Mac and Melba are respectable pillars of Sarasota business community with their profitable casino, Bayside Rapture, which is affiliated with the obscure, recently recognized Tuptee tribe of central Florida. He’s a man with many secrets.

Production on the sixth season of HBO’s “Silicon Valley” has been delayed until summer 2019, meaning the season may not air until 2020, Variety has confirmed.

“As Alec Berg is a showrunner on both ‘Barry’ and ‘Silicon Valley,’ the schedule was structured to allow Alec to wrap on ‘Barry’ before starting work on ‘Silicon Valley,'” an HBO spokesperson said in a statement to Variety.

Glamorous - Light Cosmetic Drama from Damon Wayans Jr. in Development at The CW

Damon Wayans Jr. has launched a production company, Two Shakes Entertainment, which has a two-year first-look deal at CBS TV Studios.

Written by Jordan Nardino, Glamorous is described as a light hour with heart and plenty of sass. It centers on a recent gender non-conforming high school graduate who lands the gig of a lifetime interning at the Manhattan cosmetics company whose products he panned on YouTube. But not everyone is happy to have him there, and they are doing everything they can to take him down.

Don't Call It a Comeback - Family Comedy from Kevin Hart in Development at ABC

Variety has learned exclusively that Kevin Hart is executive producing the project “Don’t Call It a Comeback” that is currently in development at ABC and hails from writer and executive producer Courtney Lilly.

The series is a single-camera family comedy about a 40-year old divorced dad who had one hit with a PM Dawn-type hip-hop group back in the ’90s and how he uses his attempt at a comeback to get his swagger back in parenting, relationships and life and prove that no matter where you are, your best days are ahead of you.

Netflix Announces Several New Original Series from Asia Including Pacific Rim Anime, Altered Carbon Anime Movie

NETFLIX UNVEILS 17 NEW ORIGINALS FROM ASIA

Singapore, Nov. 8, 2018 - Netflix marked its growing commitment to connect people around the world with Asian entertainment today at its first-ever content showcase in the region, "See What's Next: Asia." Netflix CEO Reed Hastings and Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos, as well as performers and creators from Netflix series and films, unveiled 17 new Asian original productions from Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, India and South Korea.

Pacific Rim.

Returning to the epic battle of Kaiju and Jaegers, this original anime series will expand upon the story of the first two live action movies and follow two siblings - an idealistic teenage boy and his naïve younger sister - who are forced to pilot an abandoned Jaeger across a hostile landscape in a desperate attempt to find their missing parents. Co-showrunners: Craig Kyle (Thor: Ragnarok) and Greg Johnson (X-Men: Evolution). Production Company: Legendary Entertainment (Kong: Skull Island; Pokemon: Detective Pikachu).

Altered Carbon.

This anime feature, set in the same universe of the Netflix live-action sci-fi series (second season in production from Skydance Television), will explore new elements of the story mythology. Writer: Dai Sato (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo) and Tsukasa Kondo. Animation Studio: Anima.

Cagaster of an Insect Cage.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world where a mysterious disease "Cagaster" turns people into giant murderous insects, this manga-based series follows the struggle of a young couple to stay alive. Yasuke.

In a war-torn feudal Japan of mechs and magic, a retired ronin must take up his sword when he is charged with the task of transporting a mysterious child who dark forces want to eliminate. Created & Directed by LeSean Thomas (The Boondocks, Cannon Busters), who is also serving as Executive Producer. Grammy nominee Flying Lotus will compose the music and be an Executive Producer on the show. Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta, Sorry to Bother You) will be the voice of the protagonist "Yasuke" (based on the historical samurai of African origin who fought with Oda Nobunaga). Trese.

Set in a Manila where the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore live in hiding amongst humans, Alexandra Trese finds herself going head to head with a criminal underworld comprised of malevolent supernatural beings. This anime series is based on the Philippine graphic novel by the same name, created by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldissimo. Executive Producer: Jay Oliva (Wonder Woman, The Legend of Korra). Triad Princess.

A Taiwanese original series. Growing up in the shadow of her Triad father, Angie craves an independent life of her own. Defying her father's wishes, she takes on a gig as an undercover bodyguard for a famous actress at an agency, where she must navigate the unfamiliar world of glitz, glamour and even love.
