The Fosters - Resist - Review

The Fosters are finally back after what seemed like an extra long hiatus. For some reason, Freeform's hiatus always seems so much longer than any other network, but The Fosters are now back on the air and let's get down to everything that happened in this first episode back.

This week on The Fosters:
Lena, Mariana and Jude spent the episode at Anchor Beach where the decision to make the school private had been set. Mariana and Jude didn't want this so they spend the whole episode fighting back which ended with Jude being sprayed with pepper spray in his face. But some good came from the protest because Lena and Monte realised that the decision was made with the principal vote but technically Monte is still the principle so they might have a chance to fight this.

Elsewhere, Brandon and Emma are looking for Jesus who found out that Emma had an abortion but what we also find out in the episode is that Jesus thought that the baby was Brandons and not his. Before they can tell Jesus the truth, he takes a baseball bat to Brandon's room and his keyboard. It's one of the most powerful Jesus scenes that we've had during almost all of the seasons I feel like because he completely loses it until Gabe run in to the room at calms him down.

Ana and Gabe also discuss through the episode where they fit in when it comes to Mariana and Jesus, and both of them consider ending the relationship with the twins but in the end, both of them come to their senses and decides to stick around. I'm so glad that Gabe is sticking around, I think Jesus really needs him in his life and I feel like there's so many more stories to tell there.

Finally, Callie. Stef is spending the entire episode trying to track down Callie and Diamond. You can tell how much this is getting to Stef and how worried she is about Callie.

Favourite character:
I have to give this one to Stef, because she did everything in her power to get Callie home safe and sound. There's literally nothing she wouldn't do for her family and that's one of the main reasons why I love this character but especially in this episode. You could see the length she was willing to go to bring Callie home, and to help Diamond as well.

Best/Favourite scene:
I had a few standout scenes but the car scene between Callie and Stef was one of my favourites because I think that Stef actually got Callie to understand how reckless she's been with her own life and I hope that was the start of a turning point for Callie.

Another standout moment was the montage where Jesus destroyed Brandon's room. I know that Brandon didn't deserve that but it was just such a powerful scene where Jesus completely lost it and you could really tell how much his accident still affects him. It's going to be really interesting to see how Brandon and Jesus get through all that took place in this episode between them. You could see how hurt Brandon was and I don't blame him, not at all, but it's going to be interesting to see what will happen in the upcoming episodes.

Best quotes:
Gabe to Ana: "Not right now, no. I kinda feel like Jesus needs me, you know."

Stef to Callie: "What's it gonna take for you to start valuing your life Callie? I don't know what else to do, one of these days you're not gonna be so lucky."
