24: Legacy - 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM - Advance Preview

Previously on 24 Legacy: Grimes managed to hand over the sleeper cell codes to the terrorists, Rebecca convinced Presidential candidate that Nilaa is helping the terrorists, and Henry Donovan was revealed to actually be behind Nilaa's framing. Meanwhile, Nicole uncovered a sinister plot by Isaac’s generic girlfriend and, speaking of generic things, the worst storyline ever written on 24 (perhaps only beaten by Kim and the infamous cougar) continued to spiral into oblivion.

Eric Carter: So far, I would say that Eric Carter is a pretty decent protagonist for 24: Legacy. He’s not Jack Bauer (though that doesn’t stop him from doing things like he would), but he has enough interesting aspects to his character that you want to root for him. Between his PTSD, his family, and his past relationship with the rest of his team, he makes for well developed character and Corey Hawkins carries the role well. This episode features Carter very much following in Jack Bauer’s footsteps. There isn’t much to tease about Carter’s arc in this episode without just giving it away, but let it be said that Carter remains vastly loyal to Grimes.

John Donovan: Jimmy Smitts is a fantastic actor and considering that he is mostly paired with either Miranda Otto or Gerald McRaney for this series, I’ve really enjoyed his part in the series so far. He clearly has a close relationship with his father, but don’t expect Donovan to turn a blind eye to any suspicions that he may develop about Nilaa’s surprising betrayal.

Nicole Carter: As ridiculous as I thought the original idea for dropping Nicole off at Isaac’s place was, the writers have done a good job of creating a pretty interesting secondary storyline. Where Amira’s story flounders, Nicole’s offers a window into another world and, more importantly, a window into Eric and Isaac’s background. The writers made it clear in the very first episode of 24: Legacy that Nicole was not completely incapable of protecting herself. Expect Nicole to be prove resourceful in her current predicament in this episode.

     Amira Dudayev:
In this episode, Amira is forced to watch as her first test in the world of high school terrorism continues to get worse. One of the things that has nagged me about 24: Legacy since the first episode is the ridiculousness of her story. The problem isn’t that it’s just another uncreative example of bad writing, it’s completely undermining the plot of the entire show. The series is supposed to be about one guy saving the day by capturing the uber dangerous and scary sleeper cell codes.
Now imagine this: Every single sleeper cell is as dimwitted and pathetic as Amira and her idiotic teacher. Do you feel scared or even slightly worried? If you answered “no”, now you can see the bigger problem at play here.

Rating: 7.8/10 - 24: Legacy continues to function without any grandeur, but also offers hints of interest. Once they’re able to ditch Amira’s storyline, maybe my rating for the show will tick up a bit.

Tune in to 24: Legacy on Mondays @ 9/8c on FOX. Be sure to come back here to SpoilerTV to let everyone else know what you thought of the episode.
