2 Broke Girls - And the Tease Time - Review: "You Look Like A Sexy Pencil!"

With their “exotic” 3rd date approaching, Bobby is trying to figure out where to take Caroline, which stresses her out after Max tells her that the 3rd date is usually when couples have sex for the first time. This is especially ironic timing because Max has decided not to have sex for the foreseeable future. Caroline then meets an exotic dance teacher and takes her class with Sophie and Max, where she finds that she has an inner sexual side. Bobby then reveals that by “exotic” he meant having dinner at a Moroccan restaurant and also that he thought sex was a 10th date thing, which is what Caroline also thought at the beginning of the episode. Meanwhile, Max decides to play golf with Han to prove her commitment to not having sex, but after admitting that she’s just insecure and still shut down from her break up with Randy, she breaks her abstinence pledge and hooks up with Han’s golf pro.
I didn’t think it was possible, but this installment of Caroline and Bobby’s relationship was even better than the last! Although Bobby wasn’t in this episode as much, the writers took the overused sitcom story of “3rd date = sex” and used it not to tell the story of Bobby and Caroline sleeping together for the first time, but rather to show how in sync they are in their desire to have sex at the right time instead of the socially acceptable time. I do hope we see an episode in the future that shows their first time as Caroline is so type A that it's bound to be hilarious and stressful, but for now, I loved seeing yet another way that Caroline and Bobby are perfect for each other and 100% on the same page. They are shaping up to be my favorite relationship in the history of the series!

Moving on to Max - I have got to say, I love that Max is still grappling with her feelings about her break up with Randy. As we’ve discussed in various SpoilerTV comment conversations, Max grew so much through her relationship with Randy, probably the most we’ve seen her grow in all 6 seasons of the show, so it makes total sense that she now needs to figure out who she is without him. So many sitcoms deal with break ups in one episode and then the character is totally fine afterwards, but that would not make any sense in this context, so I am glad the writers are finding all of these smart, subtle ways to show that Max is still hurting and trying to figure out who she is without Randy in her life. Plus, seeing Max and Han in matching golf outfits was absolutely hilarious and one of my favorite costume moments of the entire season.

As for the rest of the episode, I was almost in tears when Caroline, Sophie, and Max all had their personal dancing moments. These three are so incredible when it comes to physical comedy as we’ve seen in the past, but to see all of them try to be sexy one after another was painfully hilarious. The rest of the episode could’ve been complete garbage and I still would’ve loved it because of how great those performances were. The only thing about the episode I would change is I would’ve loved to see more Oleg, Han, and Earl. I feel like we haven’t gotten storylines that really utilize them since the road trip ended and it would be great to feature them a bit more as when they're used well, they can really steal an episode with how funny and endearing they are.

Episode Grade:
A. Great development for Caroline/Bobby and post-break up Max, while also having some of the funniest physical comedy of the entire season.

Favorite Quotes:
Caroline: I know I’ve been talking about Bobby all morning, but another thing I love about Bobby is he just gets me.
Max: Can he come get you right now?

Max: 3rd date? You know what that means, don’t you?!
Caroline: Going by my last 3rd date, he comes out of the closet and we still date for 2 years.

Bobby: Why would I see your underwear on our 3rd date? Doesn’t that happen on the 10th?
Caroline: That’s what I said! You people are animals!
