"A lot of vets are using weed to help with their P.T.S.D. I mean, sure, I might take a little bit longer to do some things. Like this morning, I laughed for 15 minutes because the bathroom faucet kind of looks like a face. But I feel... really good."

Talking To Me, Talking To Me

After a very active morning, Jimmy wakes Gretchen up with breakfast and tells her about his revelation during Vernon's podcast, at the same time Gretchen is trying to share her own insight about her mother and hew new self-help book recommended by Justina, even though Jimmy's focus is on himself. Gretchen's focus, instead, is turning her self-improvement into a competitive game without really realizing it.

Jimmy: It's my hope that the final nail in the tree-house will be the final nail in the coffin that is my father's influence. R.I.P., dickhead.
...
Gretchen: I think you'd actually like therapy. It's really helpful to look at your life from a different perspective. Like when they stood on the desk in Dead Poets Society.
Jimmy: Didn't that one kid shoot himself?
Gretchen: Like I'm learning how, because of my mom's impossibly high expectations, I can never turn my brain off. I am really opening the trunk and seeing what's inside.
Jimmy: Don't you mean the hood? Your trunk's just cartoons of Mexican cigarettes, old Halloween wigs and fiver bags of clothes you never donated to Goodwill.
Gretchen: I really need to get a handle on this mindfulness sh*t. I am doing the work. I'm evolving, Jimmy. I just don't want you to get left behind.

Edgar is getting a lot of buzz since High Times tweeted the pot video and a bunch of stoners started tweeting him, so while he's helping Dorothy for an audition, he complains once again that he doesn't want to be part of the pot people.

Dorothy: You make videos with a character called "Dr. Weed", and you smoke all day, every day.
Edgar: Listen, Dorothy, I stopped taking my meds.
Dorothy: What? You went off your meds and you didn't tell me?
Edgar: Yeah. I didn't want to, you know, declare anything until I saw how it worked, and listen, a lot of vets are using weed to help with their P.T.S.D. I mean, sure, I might take a little bit longer to do some things. Like this morning, I laughed for 15 minutes because the bathroom faucet kind of looks like a face. But I feel... really good.
Dorothy: Okay, well, then good. I am so glad that you finally found something that works. And if you do turn into a lazy pothead, then you can always be my house husband.

And, of course, in that moment he freaks out a little bit. Later, he goes with her to the audition and, while he's waiting, he meets Doug Benson who immediately recognizes him for his "Dr. Weed" videos and offers him a job writing for him for a few days. When Edgar tells Dorothy, she gets a little jealous and, though she tries to hide it, she looks heartbroken.

Jimmy is halfway through the tree-house when he realizes he's not listening his dad's voice anymore, so he considers his job done and starts throwing the tools he used to the floor, but accidentally throws the ladder as well and gets stuck up there. Against his will, he starts coming up with new ideas for his book. He tries to shake them off but, eventually, he caves and starts writing over the tree-house blueprints and realizes he's a writer no matter what.

Lindsay and Gretchen are having lunch before Lindsay goes to get an abortion behind Paul's back and Gretchen tells her about her new-found insight, she tells her she's had her mom's voice in her head all her life and she needs to replace it with something better, she even says her mom forced her to solve the puzzle's on Wheel of Fortune before the participants did.

Gretchen: Did you know that things your parents did when you were a kid can affect you as an adult?
Lindsay: What?! You mean like time travel?

Once they get to the clinic Gretchen says she'll stay in the car and Lindsay says there's no problem since they already know her at the clinic, which is scary. She's about to get inside when she gets all this sweet messages from Paul and starts getting cold feet. A woman close by offers to help her with the decision but she turns out to be a pro-life activist.

Meanwhile, Gretchen is trying to meditate but she starts trying to figure out what the calming voice says beforehand, then she gets bored and changes it for porn. When she's done she realizes who Lindsay is talking to and gets out of the car to intervene. She succeeds, but when she's gloating, the woman says she was going to recommend the same thing.

Pro-life activist: In my book there are extenuating circumstances... rape, incest and... whatever this is.

Afterwards Gretchen is fascinated by Lindsay's lack of worries, thinking only about the present, not her abortion and not her impending divorce. She starts thinking maybe her friend is a secret mindfulness guru.

Jimmy's still up in the tree-house when Gretchen comes home and he realizes something as he watches her trying to be mindful, even while watching Wheel of Fortune. He enters through the door after having jumped from the tree, and tells her that watching his life from the outside, he wasn't able to recognize it. He said he wasn't sure about any of the choices he'd made and all of them could be wrong, even her. She looks devastated.

As the season finale approaches, it's all getting darker and darker, and this episode left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I really hope this doesn't last long, I love their bizarre relationship and i don't know exactly how the show would work without it. I also felt really bad for Dorothy, it must be awful to be jealous of the person you love and having to be happy for them. I really don't know how Paul's going to react when he finds out what Lindsay did but he'll be devastated, I think this is by far the worst thing she's ever done.

So, what did you guys think of this episode? Do you like where this is going? What do you think about Lindsay's choice?

Note: English is not my first language so I apologize for any mistakes.
