    Ratings Breakdown:
It was a homerun for Fox last night with the 5-1 victory for the Chicago Cubs over the Cleveland Indians in Game 2 of the Major League Baseball World Series at an estimated 11.3 rating/19 share in the metered market households from 7-11:15 p.m. ET. Results for any live sporting event, of course, are always estimated. Comparably, this bested the year-ago match-up between the Royals and the Mets (9.3/15 on 10/28/15) by 22 percent in the overnights. And it was close to game one levels on Tuesday, which translated into 19.78 million viewers and a 5.6 rating/19 share in adults 18-49, based on the Live + Same Day data.

Mirroring Tuesday, overnight results for the competing networks on this sixth Wednesday of the TV season were not all that negatively impacted by The World Series. “Survivor” on CBS was the top-rated non-sports telecast of the night, with a 5.2/ 8 in the 8 p.m. hour. And that led into a 4.6/ 7 in the household overnights for veteran “Criminal Minds” (#2) at 9 p.m., followed by sophomore medical drama “Code Black” at a fourth-place 3.7/ 6 at 10 p.m. Comparably, “Code Black” was 12 percent below the 4.2/ 7 on the year-ago evening.

Third-place ABC opened with the compatible pairing of sitcoms “The Goldbergs” (#3: 4.2/ 7) and freshman “Speechless” (#3: 3.8/ 6) from 8-9 p.m., followed by the Halloween-themed installment of “Modern Family” at a second-place 5.1/ 8 in the 9 p.m. half-hour. Next was critically acclaimed ‘black-ish” (#4: 4.0/ 6 at 9:30 p.m.), followed by recent entry “Designated Survivor” at a 4.5/ 8 (#2) at 10 p.m. Comparably, Designated Survivor” was 41 percent above the 3.2/ 5 for former time period occupant “Nashville” one year earlier.

Elsewhere, NBC granddaddy “Law & Order: SVU” (#1: 4.1/ 7 at 9 p.m.) equaled its highest household rating since the crime solver’s Sept. 21 season-opener. Comparably, “SVU” was 14 percent above the 3.6/ 6 for lead-in “Blindspot” at 8 p.m. And “Chicago PD” followed with a 3.8/ 6 at 10 p.m., which on the year-ago evening scored a 4.3/ 7 in the overnights for a two-hour installment.

On The CW, recent drama entry “Frequency” (#5: 0.7/ 1) slipped by a hefty 46 percent from the 1.3/ 2 for lead-in “Arrow,” which year-to-year was already down by 28 percent (1.8/ 3 on 10/28/15).
