The Final Entries: The Vampire Diaries . . . Best songs so far

Dear Diary: Today will be different. It has to be. I will smile, and it will be believable. My smile will say, "I'm fine, thank you. Yes, I feel much better." I will no longer be the sad little boy who is losing one of his all time favorite shows. It's the only way I'll make it through.

Welcome, dear Vampire Diaries' fans, ahead of the eighth and final season premiere of The Vampire Diaries, I've decided to take some time and remember the best this show has given us, so far. This week I will share my favorite songs introduced within the show, Best Twists and Best Romantic moments articles will be posted the following weeks. Also, this is a list totally based on my personal preferences and I can't wait to read in the comments section which songs will make you think of The Vampire Diaries once the show has ended. So after going through my list, feel free to sound off in the comments and let's celebrate all stuff that made this show even better.

Candice Accola - Eternal Flame, Episode 2x16 "The House Guest" - Caroline sings to win Matt back

Ohh Goshhh, sometimes I do miss the mess Caroline was in the early seasons of this show. This girl went through hell and grew up into a perfect undead being. The jealous and insecure girl grew into a beautiful and mature women and this was one of the major steps on that way. Candice's voice was perfect and her stage presence was enlighting.

Digital Daggers - Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Episode 4x09 "O Come, All Ye Faithful - Klaus kills Carol

In Klaus long list of kills over the course of TVD and TO, killing Carol Lockwood was one of the worst. The brutality of Klaus' act and his cold, bloody and emotionless face combined with the gentle sound of "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas" turned this scene into one to be remembered.

Florence + The Machine - Never Let Me Go, Episode 3x19 "Heart of Darkness" - Elena and Damon kiss for the first time

The struggle is real, poor Elena was pushing back and forth between the handsome Salvatore brothers for quite some time at this point of the story. So when out on a road trip, with Damon parading his abs all over the place made our Merry Sue weak. The scene was perfectly build up with some slight touching and exchanging smoldering looks climaxed with an epic kiss which was accompanied by the strong and empowering lyrics of Florence + The Machine's brilliant song.

Birdy - Without The Word, Episode 5x04 "For Whom The Bell Tolls" - Bonnie's funeral

One of the most emotional moments of the show, in my choosing. The show really digs deep here and besides the excellent writing and use of memories to jug our emotions Birdy's powerful voice enhanced this scene making me tear up and believe at least for a second that Bonnie is indeed gone forever and won't ever reunite with her friends.

Digital Daggers - Head Over Heels, Episode 2x07 "Masquerade" - Stefan and Katherine dance

Another smashing song from Digital Daggers made one simple dance scene into one hell of a moment. The chemistry between Stefan and Katherine was always so sexual and engaging and this is certainly one of my favorite scenes between these two hotties. Nina always knew how to deliver the small transitions between kinky and brutal and as many times during her run it worked perfectly here. It almost seemed like it Katherine was playing with the lyrics while she was bullying Stefan around and snapping poor Aimee's spine.

Tom Odell - Heal, Episode 7x17 "I went into the woods", Damon finds Stefan

The only real ship, I truly stand to on the Vampire Diaries is Defan. The brotherly bond is one of the best things about this show and no matter how far they can push each other they always find the path back to each other. And so in this scene, from the quite underrated season 7, we see the brothers once more fix their relationship while the amazing track "Heal" from Tom Odell gives the scene amazing support and love.

Ella Henderson - Yours, Episode 6x14 - Stefan and Caroline kiss for the first time

Another first-time kiss but so so different from what we got from Delena back in season 3. While the Delena kiss was full of passion accompanied by a passionate song, the first kiss between Stefan and Caroline had so much heart, so gentle and loving it was like the time stood still and only the two of the existed in that moment. The song from young British star Ella Henderson was the perfect choice to follow all the bottled up emotions and portray the dedication between the two love birds.

Birdy - Wings, Episode 5x22 "Home" - The final scene, Damon and Bonnie sucked into the white light

The desperation, pain, and heartbreak of this scene combined with the hope-filled lyrics from Birdy's outstanding song made this an iconic moment in TVD history. There isn't much to say here, just lay back and enjoy this beautiful and heartbreaking scene.

I really hope you enjoyed this little ride on memory lane and hopefully you'll be back next week when I'll be talking about the Best 8 Twists/Cliffhangers so far.
