The Originals - Alone With Everybody - Review

This week the Original siblings were reunited (minus Klaus and Rebekah) and after a lot of fighting seemed to come to some sort of understanding. Of course that was only after Davina cursed Finn, Finn and Kol fought and they were given the last white oak bullet. That bullet was procured by Josh, Marcel and Vincent who came face to face with an unknown foe. After getting a message from the ancestors, Vincent switched sides and helped Lucien (who turned out to be the foe) kidnap Freya (and the bullet). Meanwhile Klaus and Hayley made a pit stop to help a young girl who just triggered her werewolf curse only to realize that Lucien’s company has something to do with the missing werewolves.

Didn’t see it coming: Before the hiatus I complained that the writers weren’t doing anything useful with Lucien. I didn’t understand why they kept him around if they were just going to keep him on the sidelines. Turns out Lucien has been working on his masterplan all this time. I certainly didn’t see that coming. And neither did anyone on the show. I think we all forgot about the side of Lucien we saw in the first few episodes of the season. Remember when he cut his own mouth open? Yeah, how did we not see this coming? I'm very excited to see next week just what he's planning.

Least favorite Original: Am I supposed to feel bad for Finn? Because I’m having trouble doing so. First of all, I still don’t understand how he was resurrected. Clearly he didn’t want to be since he was planning on jumping into a witch’s body and leaving town. For some reason he expected that Freya would join him, but I think that might have been wishful thinking. She’s gotten really attached to her brothers and I’m not sure who she’d choose if she was asked to. I’m glad Davina cursed him, because honestly, he kind of had it coming.

Biggest mistake: I’m actually surprised Elijah decided to keep the bullet. I knew the moment he did that this was going to come back to haunt him and I was right. He should’ve given Finn a choice, either let it burn or use it on himself in that moment. That way it couldn’t come back to bite them in the ass. But I assume his choice also had something to do with the fact that Elijah might someday decide that he’s lived long enough. Which then brings us to the next problem. I’m pretty sure you can only use that bullet once before it burns along with the body. So how would that have worked?

Poor baby: Why does it always have to be Josh who gets his ass kicked. I think Davina needs to have a talk with him because I don’t like the fact that he keeps putting himself in situations where he has to go against vampires who are way older than him. Though I do applaud him for holding his own for a while. Clearly he’s been training very hard. All I’m saying is that he better make it to the end of the season because I have lost too many precious characters lately.

Character I fear for: Kol is not in a good place right now. His rage and hunger issues are a lot worse than I thought. I thought it would still be a few weeks before that side of him came out while being around Davina. When he came to Elijah for advice, I really expected some speech about how they can change who they are. I mean, that’s what he’s been saying to Klaus for centuries. Instead he got a “we are who we are”. How long until he goes completely off the deep end?

Favorite character: I really enjoyed Hayley’s scenes with Kayla. Since Hope is still so young, we haven’t really seen her be able to pass along any wisdom or teach her anything. I feel that in her scenes with Kayla we could see the mother that Hayley will be once Hope is older. It’s almost inevitable considering their lifestyle that Hope will have to go through her first werewolf transition at some point. She’s going to need both of her parents in that moment. I do hope we get to see Hayley’s childhood (mainly her first transition) at some point in flashbacks. It shouldn’t be too hard since she was 13 at the time so they could easily hire a younger actress to play her.
Most progress: I was so proud of Klaus this week. Look how far he’s come in just a season. This week he actually trusted someone he barely knew to take care of Hope because he trusted Hayley. While last season he went out of his way to prevent Hope from being with anyone other than a blood relative. He and Hayley were working together like real parents while keeping the arguments to a minimum. I think it might be a really good thing for Klaus to get out of New Orleans for a while. Things were so hectic over there with enemies coming at them from all sides. And while being on the run isn’t exactly a peaceful activity, the change of scenery does seem to do him good.

Best quotes
Klaus: “On a scale from one to ten, exactly how much am I going to despise this little plan of yours?” Hayley: “I’d say a solid 85.”
Josh: “Wait, you mean your army of fancy pants vampires didn’t tell you about this? Weird.”
Klaus: “I’m quite sure this glass hasn’t been washed in the last decade which makes it the cleanest thing in this establishment.”

That’s it for this week. Check in again next week for an all new review and let me know in the comments what you thought of this week’s episode.
