Fresh Off the Boat - Boy II Man / Shaquille O’Neal Motors - Double Review

I'm taking over Nirat Anop for the next two episodes for the critically-acclaimed comedy, Fresh off the Boat. I give credit to ABC, 20th Century Fox, and Spoiler TV for allowing me to use these promotional photos below.

Boy II Man Review:

In the season 2 premiere, Jessica talked about micromanaging her family. She lived up to that again by choosing Eddie's electives in school. He wants to go to study hall so he can be with Nicole more. However, he gets his heart broken when she leaves him for another guy named Chris. This causes Eddie to have a downward spiral by listening "End of the Road" by Boyz II Men repeatedly.

While Eddie deals with many problems, Nicole's dad inspires Louis to have a daughter. He daydreams about having a daughter in his life. However, Emery and Evan would not be happy about it because they would have to share a room together. At the end, Louis and Jessica decide that having three children is enough.

In the end of this episode, Jessica sympathizes with what Eddie is going through and they have a heart-to-heart conversation. I loved how he finally saw eye-to-eye with him. I'm glad Jessica and Honey can still have a strong friendship despite Eddie and Nicole not seeing each other. The best part of this episode was the boys and the father singing "End of the Road" at the dinner table. Evan (the youngest child) made me laugh when he sang by himself. I enjoyed the twist where Eddie found another girl that could have a crush on him. Overall, this second episode covered topics that adolescents went through growing up and audiences can relate to what Eddie went through when they were his age. Before some of the audiences were parents or still want to be parents, they understood what went through Louis' mind about the pros and cons of having an additional child. Although Eddie and Nicole are done, I predict we have not seen the last of her.

Shaquille O'Neal Motors Review:

Last night's episode continued to avoid the sophomore slump. Jessica and Louis celebrate their wedding anniversary at a car dealership. However, he can't seem to please her no matter what gift he gives her. In the past, she admits to him that she missed out on free floor mats when they were about to purchase their car. The best part of this storyline is where Jessica was being a cheapskate at the car dealership. It was great of Louis agreeing to Jessica's cheapness as they wanted a better car and him finally getting a excellent gift for their anniversary. Also, I kept laughing so hard when they kept asking who is the manager until Shaquille O'Neal stepped up and to help them. In the end, they settle a deal for them to purchase the car and Jessica gets another request granted when she ends up getting Shaquille O'Neal's autograph for Eddie.

Meanwhile, Evan has a wonderful time playing with his beanie babies. Two neighbors, Deirdre and Carol-Joan (we saw them in Episode 3 last season) let him know that he can sell them for a lot of money. Eddie and Emery have been wanting a hot-dog themed slide, but do not have enough money for it. Eddie asks Evan if it's okay for him and Emory to sell his beanie babies, which he approves. Later, the older brothers enjoy the slide until Evan comes back. It turns out that Eddie admits that Evan approving them selling his beanie babies was a dream. Evan gets upset with him because he was the instigator in selling his beanie babies and they were his friends. Despite Emery participated with Eddie, he shrugs him off. To repay Evan back, he decides to sell his autographed shoe of Shaquille O'Neal and buy back the beanie babies as an apology to Evan. I nearly teared up when he did something less selfish for once.

This episode went by too quick, which was another wonderful episode. I remind myself as Jessica because I am cheapstake when it comes to shopping especially at the grocery store. I also relate to her frustration for not getting the floor mat included with the car. This reminds me of the time when I missed out a good deal at the grocery store for either forgetting to print the coupon and/or not having the coupon available in the newspaper when other people had access to it. So far, the writers have been aces for concentrating more on Jessica this season, who continues to deliver unforgettable lines. Don't forget to tune into Fresh off the Boat on Tuesdays at 8:30/7:30c on ABC. If you have missed any of the episodes this season or want to relive them again, watch them on Hulu.
