Stitchers – Full Stop – Advance Preview: “Choices and Consequences”

Stitchers has taken us on a hell of a ride this season as Kirsten embarked on an uncertain journey into self discovery. Kirsten’s emotional evolution has allowed her to learn the meaning of friendship and in the process she has also learned to care about others. Her relationships with Cameron and Camille have grown leaps and bounds since we first saw her interact with them. Each stitch teaches her something and aids in the rewiring of the emotional center of her brain. She's not just going though the motions anymore as she is now actually starting to experience complex human emotions that have for so long evaded her. Most of these emotions are still in their infancy, but many are already being called to the surface as she interacts with her friends and the world. We have even watched her form a fragile bond with Maggie and build a new friendship with Linus. Who knows what the future holds for Kirsten and her friends, but for those that survive this season finale whole new questions will arise.

Most of the events of this episode are largely interconnected and bring about the culmination of previously setup storylines. As a result this preview is quite vague to avoid spoiling any major plot points, but I still managed to sneak in a few interesting teases. Here is a little information about what this episode holds in store for each of the characters.

Kirsten has many revelations thrown at her this week. All of them are poised to have a long lasting and permanent effect on her. The promo revealed Kirsten’s revelation that she wasn’t born with temporal dysplasia, but how she came to develop this disorder will stun viewers. We’ve all been wondering what, or whom, Ed was protecting Kirsten from, and we do get some pretty solid hints but that is a mystery that will not soon be clarified. When someone she cares about a great deal makes a huge sacrifice for her we will all get to witness a new side to Kirsten. Through the trials of this crisis she will learn an earth shattering secret and get a peek into a forgotten moment from her own past. A message, delivered by unlikely means, has the potential to forever alter the DNA of this show.

Camille has continued to be a critical part of Kirsten’s life. While Cameron has taught Kirsten about unwavering loyalty, Camille has taught her about safety and friendship. They have both played critical parts in Kirsten’s emotional evolution and have aided her journey, but this week Camille sees changes begin to occur to her own journey. Camille has her part to play in Kirsten’s personal life, but she has struggled to find her place within the program outside of her original part as Kirsten’s watcher. This week circumstances lead her to be recruited by Cameron to be his backup. This causes some tension and concern with other members of the team, but it would seem the show has set her up for a unique trajectory. What this means in the long run is anyone's guess. She started this season as Kirsten's watcher and guide which in a weird way is exactly where she ends the season.

Cameron loves Kirsten, it’s been obvious for weeks upon weeks, but Kirsten is incapable of seeing that. He came into her life suddenly, more suddenly then most of us realized, and made an immediate impact. Kirsten’s life is literally in his hands when she is stitching and the trust between them is firm and unbreakable. For the longevity of the program Cameron has to find someone else to trust Kirsten’s life to and for that, as mentioned above, he picks Camille. Little did he know at the time, but he was entrusting more than just Kirsten to Camille in making this choice. After a terrifying encounter leaves one of the team fighting for their life every choice he has made will culminate in the final heart stopping minutes of this season finale.

Linus has spent the season solidifying his friendship with Cameron and building a relationship with Camille, but both of those relationships will fall onto rocky times. The sad part of all this is at the core he loves both of them and would do just about anything for them, but he is also human and we humans are jealous creatures by nature. Sometimes jealousy can be overcome and other times it can’t. Only time will tell which category he will fall into. One thing is for sure, you can always count on him in a crisis.

Maggie is put in one awkward situation after another when several members of her team are attacked. The decisions she makes, and the risks she lets her team take, will define her from this point forward. Will she be a leader they can trust? Will she put their lives ahead of all else or will she put the mission over them? This unconventional group has taught her a lot and they have helped her learn things about herself. At the end of the day I think she has developed bonds with all of them that make her protective of them. Is she one of the good guys or a potential bad guy? Does she work for the greater good or for some nefarious organization? We’ll likely have to wait until next season to find out, but we do get to see how she deals with members of her team in life threatening situations and her gut instinct reactions will surprise many.

Before the episode ends a shooting will leave not one, but two, characters with uncertain fates. The ending will leave you grateful that ABC Family renewed the show for a Season 2 prior to airing this season finale. To have left the series with this ending would have been a horrific tragedy. This episode is a phenomenal way to end the freshman season of this inventive and ingenious show. Prepare yourselves, because the final five minutes will leave you breathless. No character will escape this finale unscathed.

Tune into ABC Family on Tuesday at 9/8C to witness the brilliant way Stitchers caps off its freshman season. After the episode be sure to return to SpoilerTV for an insightful review by Prpleight J.

To help you get through until Tuesday here are 4 quotes. I’m going to change up the quote game just a bit and say that each quote is worth one character specific teaser. You must guess the speaker and the recipient right to win the extra teaser, and given how much happens in this episode there is plenty more I can tease about the characters. Who will be the hero that earns everyone some more teasers?

“Whoa, I’m sorry, I guess I kind of thought you’d be happy for me.”

“Let’s find the bastard who did this to us.”

“I need to keep you safe.”

“There is so much that I don’t know and I’m tired of waiting for somebody else to figure it out.”
