  • 15th September 2015 - Woody Harrelson Joins Cast
Woody Harrelson has nabbed one of the leading human roles in Fox’s latest Planet of the Apes installment.

It is unclear who is returning to the new movie, which will continue the story of Caesar, the evolved ape who is brought to life via motion capture by Andy Serkis.

Plot details are being kept secret, but Harrelson will play a character called the Colonel.

  • 24th August 2015 - Gabriel Chavarria Cast in Lead Role
EXCLUSIVE: Gabriel Chavarria, the young star of Universal’s upcoming Low Riders, is making his deal now to be one of two human leads in 20th Century Fox’s War Of The Planet Of The Apes, the latest installment of the franchise. Matt Reeves returns to direct, and the pic is shooting for an October start date in Vancouver.

The role is one of two main humans in the cast, much like James Franco’s part in last year’s Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, which grossed $708.M worldwide with Reeves at the helm and nearly doubled the business of 2011’s superb reboot Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes — a major score for Fox and producer Chernin Entertainment.

  • 14th May 2015 - Title Revealed
The ending of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is tragic, inevitable, and telling. Caesar’s motivation throughout the film is trying to avoid war through a policy of isolation, and then seeing if peace is even possible. Fear on both sides destroys any possibility of peace, and then in the closing lines of the film Caesar says, “War has… already begun. Ape started war. And human… Human will not forgive.”

So the title of the next film may not be shocking, but we’re hearing from sources that the next Planet of the Apes movie will be titled: War of the Planet of the Apes

  • 7th January 2014 - Matt Reeves to Direct
Right after 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment began screening his cut of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, Matt Reeves has signed on to direct the third installment of the franchise. This time, he will write the script with Mark Bomback, one of the writers who scripted the sequel. Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa were the scribes who resurrected the franchise with Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, the Ruper Wyatt-directed film that grossed $482 million worldwide in 2011. The directing deal is done and the writer deals are being worked out right now. It is likely that Reeves will go right into the third film, a priority for the studio.

The sequel is set to debut July 11, 2014, and it stars Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell, with Andy Serkis reprising his role as Caesar, the intelligent ape that led the breakout from a lab before much of the human race was wiped out at the close of the first film. The survivors square off against Caesar’s growing army in the second film. The pic is based on the Pierre Boulle novel, and was first turned into a film that starred Charlton Heston in 1968.
